With the trade deadline approaching in early February, I was hopeful but realistic knowing that Jeremy would be hard to move with his contract of over 13 Million. After the deadline passed, I was content to see JLin suck it up and finish off the season, thinking at least he's healthy and lets see where he lands next season. Not in my wildest dreams could I imagine what would happen next. Like with the Knicks, things just fell into place with some divine intervention from the Man above.
First and probably the biggest piece of the puzzle was the injury to Fred VanVleet, the Toronto Raptors backup point guard who at times has also started together in the backcourt with Kyle Lowry. Out 3 weeks before being evaluated, this could turn out to be much longer. Next, playing the right way (not playing for stats), treating his team and teammates well as always, the Hawks reciprocated and gave Jeremy the buyout he and his agents were looking for. Lastly, leaving money on the table means nothing to Jeremy who as he states, has big and unfinished dreams and lots left in the tank!
These next few months will be so exciting as Jeremy gets his chance to play on a Championship caliber team that will do whatever it takes to win. A deep playoff run with Jeremy in the mix is the kind of big dreams that he is talking about. I'm sure we will all see a renewed and energized Jeremy that will probably shock many who have not followed him closely. This is the beginning of the next Chapter of this amazing story and hold on as here we go!!!
