After soaking everything in over the All-Star break, I'm even more amazed on how it all worked out. Since Linsanity, it seems we've been on a downhill roller coaster ride.
First JLin signs with Houston and he could be the man! No, they sign James Harden. After 2 mediocre years, he is shipped off to the Lakers who are in full Kobe tour mode. With one of the worst coaches I believe in NBA history, BScott, Jeremy struggles as he shares playing time with journeyman Ronnie Price. That was a tough tough year.
Then he signs with who? The Charlotte Hornets. He emerges as a top 6th man earning himself a starting position with the Brooklyn Nets the following season. Injured at the end of his first year there, the Nets go out and sign DeAngelo Russell. Jeremy looks like he is ready to go at the start of his second season as a starter with the Nets but an awful knee injury in his first game derails everything.
At that point, I'm not sure if he'll ever be the same player again. Then he gets shipped to one of the worst teams in the NBA, the Hawks. He is there only to be a mentor to their top draft pick, Trae Young. His year of rehab in Canada really pays off as he seems to round into shape in November, and starts looking like the old Jeremy and even improved in many ways. But it looks like he is stuck there until the end of the season when he becomes a free agent.
But then something amazing happens! The Hawks, who are trying to build a team the right way, show amazing grace in giving Jeremy his wish to be bought out and go to a contender. They give him his full salary less what the Raptors can pay him which is around 700k. Yes, he is going to the Toronto Raptors! A team with great vets in Gasol, Green, Ibaka, and Lowry; A superstar and NBA Champion in Kawhi Leonard; young athletes in Siakam and OG. This team plays the right way, a perfect fit. He will get 25-30 minutes in the next 12 games or so to show everyone what we all already know. This is going to be so much fun! I can't wait! What else can we ask for? Can we get to the Chip? Let’s go!!!
