Jeremy Training with Hakeem the Dream!
Love to hear Jeremy's working with Hakeem and Dwight. I believe Jeremy can be very effective posting up most PG's. Nothing better than learning from one of the best post players ever. Also, great to see him building chemistry with Dwight and the coaching staff.

Was expecting to see a pic of Jeremy Dwight and Hakeem.
ReplyDeleteDisappointed to see Hakeem posing like a DB..
Did the Rockets gave up trading Lin for now?!
DeleteThose conniving reptilian SOBs. Too stingy to trade him short for what they've done; and too stingy to buy him out. It seeded like, overall, Lin was at least as much of a problem to Sorry, McHell and Damnpson as Beasley was to the Suns. They are either extremely stingy or they lied about Lin's skill level.
give up
DeleteYou're OK, ztrta.
DeleteIf you want to, you can look at Lin as being nothing more than Dwight's ballboy.
KHuang,
DeleteI'm NOT okay. I checked back here again the first thing this morning, looking for a headline "The Rockets buyout Lin's contract".
- - - - --
I better not post anymore when I'm tired. So many typos that can't be edited on this board ("give" "seeded"..... hahahaha). Good morning, musician!
Sorry your wish didn't come true, ztrta :)
DeleteIf it helps you to feel better, I think Dwight was the one who makes this happen and not Morey. And it's a better scenario to have Lin wanted by the best center in the NBA to create many ESPN highlight alley oops and dunks than being a miscast traded to another team before the season starts.
DWINSANITY!
If you're looking for Lin buyout headlines, ztrta, then you're REALLY Ok!
Deletewonder why they meet in denver, for the thin air? why can't they just train on the rocket's compound. dream and lin wanna do something on the down low?
Deleteaway from Harden :)
Deletethat's true. parsons and lin can't even do a pregame kungfu ritual without harden butting in.
Deletepsalm234,
DeletePlease don't give Sorry and McHell any anti-Lin ideas!
Dwinsanity? There is no "L" in it..... The two basketball jerks have already DWINDLED Lin quite a bit!..... Maybe HowLinsanity, using Dwight's last name.
well that's true, I just realized the Lin part is missing from Dwinsanity. HowLinsanity might be interpreted as ShuHow-Linsanity but that's okay with me.
DeleteHow about HowLinSanity?.... insanely howl; howlin' crazy. Dwight and Lin should play like howlin' maniacs.
DeleteHi psalm234,
DeleteI forgot to put LOL or (;~D) regarding your "dwinsanity". lol
:) that's ok. I used up my LOL quota today. Need to borrow from Brent.
Deleteyou both are insane.
DeleteHakeem has to train two mental midgets for awhile, just enjoying some alone time here lol
DeleteWOW ! That's great ! Jeremy working with HAKEEM !
ReplyDeleteI also hope to see pic of Jeremy with Dwight & Hakeem.
i don't think the focus is on teaching Dwight AND Lin the post up moves. although, i do think Lin, with his high IQ, will pick up a lot of what Dream is teaching Dwight. the purpose of Lin being there is probably as a facilitator to Dwight, since he is the PG after all. they will want Lin to give the ball up to Dwight in the best possible situation to make the low post plays.
ReplyDeleteGood thinking.
DeleteI don't know why I feel so disappointed that the Rockets are not trading Lin any time soon (this news makes me think that). I need to have a straight posture and take deep breaths.
Lin shouldn't try to play too good, so that they would want to trade him. I wanted to enjoy watching his games this season with a normal team (however imperfect like most teams).
I agree, Blake. No way Lin was summoned up there just to polish his post-up moves.
DeleteMy first thought was, "Wow, Dwight really wants Lin to stay .. or Dwight is really afraid that Harden will turn out like Kobe" lol
My second thought was wondering if Kenny "The Jet" Smith is also there. Perhaps Hakeem and the Jet can speed up the learning process for Dwight and Lin to establish connection between a big man and his PG.
psalm234,
DeleteI can't really speculate at all on this interesting event - they could have anything on their minds. Remember, at this point, everyone knows that the Rockets are either stuck with Lin (just the opposite) or they are trying to make it appear (likely for a short period) as though Lin is now a valued player, in order to facilitate a trade.
ok ztrta, I will temper my enthusiasm until we see Lin plays the main PG 10 games into the regular season.
DeleteEven then he might still get traded in Feb 14 but I would care less since Lin's number would look better already.
Probably working on post entry passes to Dwight. Hopefully Lin picks up some post up moves from watching, but of course those skills won't be perfected unless they are used in practice and in games.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
DeleteNot to toot my own horn, but what I said months ago was that Dwight in Houston can only be good for Jeremy. Dwight wants more low-post touches and you need a REAL point guard (not a ball-dominant SG) to throw entry passes into the low post. It's a simple but nuanced skill a true PG has to master.
Jeremy hasn't really worked with any real low-post threats before (Melo is as close as it gets), but the low-post entry passes I've seen him throw so far in his career have been pretty solid. He correctly throws the pass where his big man needs to be...not where he is. You gotta "lead" your C/PF with your entry feed.
Also needs to work on TIMING. Teams know Dwight will be asking for the ball more, so Jeremy has to be smart in knowing WHEN to feed Dwight. He can't give into Dwight's demand if the pass isn't there. I'm sure Hakeem, the master, is going through all this stuff and more with him.
.
adding on, dwight seems to have back issues. and, a lot of this is probably contributed from the awful above the rim lob passes he got while at Orlando. The passes were yards away from the rim. They look good on highlights but definitely did a number on dwight's back.
Deleteas dwight is getting older, he definitely needs a passer who can get the timing and trajectory of above the rim passes just right. and, no one does it better than lin.
not to toot my own horn but i've been saying this all along that houston bigs need to practice set plays with lin exclusively.
Except Dwight is not a good low post player. He just thinks he is.
Deletei guess your and and the rest of the world's opinion differ which makes you a genius.
DeleteAt least Lin got mentioned by Hakeem! Is the entire team working out in Aspen? Why, for the high altitude conditioning?
ReplyDeleteI definitely think Lin could be a good postup PG, especially against all those 6'0" 170lb PGs these days. But fat chance McHale will give him that opportunity.
Like others said, Lin's probably working on entry passes, not his post game. At least it's him and not Harden working on the entry passes.
I think Dwight and Harden have already worked with each other. Also, those two have worked with Beverley a lot this summer - including condition training.
DeleteAfter they couldn't trade Lin, many people predicted that the Rockets would try to make Lin look good, so that he'll become tradeable, because that's the strategy Morey used for Douglas and Patterson.
Yay Jeremy training with D12 and Hakeem.I think D12 is seriously out to redeem himself with his mediocre season as a Laker. He's probably looking forward to regain the DPOY title this season or the next. It's no coincidence,I think, that Tyson got the DPOY title when he was playing with Jeremy.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the other ROCKETS players are not yet in Houston. No offense. They should just join LIN , HOWARD & HAKEEM on September 15, so that LIN & HOWARD will be able to get their chemistry, while the rest of the team are on their way.....
ReplyDeleteI think this is all pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteFor any post up player to succeed in the NBA, he needs a passer who has proper timing and can also score in his own. Lin can be that passer.
In the NBA, it's hard to find a good passer who also has enough scoring punch to make plays work. Typically those players are All Star players like Deron Williams or Chris Paul. Even among All Stars, players like Kyrie Irving or Russell Westbrook or Rajon Rondo are considered suspect passers.
oopth
Deletesuspect passers as far as running a pick and roll goes.
Often, a nonshooting player like Rondo can get away with being an imperfect scorer if the roll man is a Hall of Fame max contract mobile player who can score from anywhere against anybody like Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce.
All the players are bulking up because they aren't playing in college anymore. Hint hint for Lin.
DeleteHe also needs to wear a chest protector for being targeted (I can't remember anyone else getting elbowed in the no-fat chest area). The crooked NBA officials let Miami players hard-foul a superstar like Tony Parker right in the face multiple times in the finals, so Lin the "lowly" better ready to get even.
i thought you said lin is nothing but a gunner/dunker, khuang. now he's a passer? when do you stop coming up with these euphemisms?
Deletezrtra: the chest hunting is not very common. defenders usually go for lin's head when he goes for a lay up. this causes lin to land weird either awkward on the knees and ankles or he goes horizontal and falls flat on his back.
Deletei think lin has done very well doing his judo drop and roll after he's fouled when driving to the basket.
As usual, you thought wrong Etane.
DeleteI lnow that you as a LIN HATER are trying to undercut Lin's fan support.
nah i am just here to under cut you the secret rocket agent!
DeleteEtane,
DeleteDid you already forget?! Sefolosha of Oklahoma elbowed Lin in the chest that got him limited and sidelined in the playoffs.
Yes, I know... everyone sees that Lin gets dangerously smacked in the head a lot. He needs to watch out for himself because the referees are selective and inconsistent in their calls.
of course i didn't miss that one but that quantity of that incident pales in comparison to the quantity of head hunting incidences.
DeleteAnd don't forget.... Fake tough guy Duranr squeezing Lin's chest a retaliation...why would he do that. Because he knew Lin wouldn't respond...and the worst thing is, neither did his teammates.. Yeah nice to have Lin's back..
Deletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPuAOnATEdY
DeleteThis just changed the ball game of Lin's fate in Houston.
ReplyDeleteDwight clearly wanted Lin to stay and he didn't waste time to wait for training camp to practice with his PG of choice (not Harden). I agree with zxcvb above that Dwight wants to come right out the gate in the season to prove a lot of people wrong in LA. So he needs perfect alley-oops from Lin to create ESPN highlights or setting perfect screen for Lin to score or get the ball back for easy dunks.
To make the commitment going to Denver with Hakeem and the coaching staff says a lot about the investment of time and Dwight's belief that he can create Dwinsanity with Lin.
I'd be interested to know if Harden, Parsons will join them or not.
Otherwise, this tells the others that Lin will get his job back as a PG and the main playmaker for Dwight.
Starting the season on a "high". Too early to tell but definitely a good start. I can envision jlin being the best assist man to ever play for the houston rockets. This season will be a precursor to the the kinda path his career will take. As far ias dwight, he is jockeying to be the main guy. Already sweeping harden aside. Prima donna. I might just feel sorry for harden this year.
DeleteI think that Dwight Howard and the coaches will be surprised at how good a healthy Lin is.
DeleteLast summer, Lin was recovering from knee surgery and likely came back before other players with te same surgery would have. That did impact his scoring consistency, but not his court vision or defensive prowess.
This year it's a healthy Lin that's training with Howard. I'm sure that Houston's coaches are thinking that Lin has "improved".
The other thing I'm hoping for is that Dwight Howard can be Lin's enforcer.
Just as Karl Malone would put hits on the countless opponents who tried to injure John Stockton, it would be nice to see someone on Houston step up to looking after Lin when he gets bashed by bounty hunting opponents.
Good thought on the enforcer idea. If iy happens that will be a first and i might just change my tune on dwight too.
Delete@khuang above
DeleteDwight would definitely be a more invested enforcer for Lin after he receives alley oops and dunks just like Tyson Chandler did, KHuang :)
DeleteMan, I missed those easy alley oops and dunks to Tyson from NY days. Asik just didn't have the elevation to do them last season.
I hope Dwight will be salivating for Dwinsanity after working with Lin for a few days. And Lin can absorb things from Hakeem. Too exciting!
Wow psalm. That is a lot of assumption there. U see everything "clearly". Really? Just from a tweet?
DeleteHakeem just tweets out Jeremy name and this entire site erupts with a collective cheer !! Lol...
This blind fanboyism is getting out of hand. How are u guys different from a Belieber?!
And I would think u guys would have learned your lesson by now when it comes to the rox.
Don't wanna spoil you guy's party but let's NOT. Get ahead of ourselves here. Let's see how Jeremy is utilized in games prior to proclaiming that Jeremy is out of the dog house.
Solidz might be right. We spent the last season watching the Rox miusing, dissing Lin in angst. Now aren't we getting excited too early just based on a tweet by the Dream? Don't forget the Rox rolled out the season tix promotion yesterday. This whole training stuff is just a PR gimmick to lure LIN's fans to purchase tix.
Deletewell solidz, nothing is 100% for sure but we watch Dwight's interview talking about creating Dwinsanity but that was just talk. Now he backed it up with getting together with Hakeem and Lin. In Colorado? And why no Harden and Parsons? Why not wait until training camp? Wouldn't this cause Harden to feel left out a bit since he's supposed to be the 2nd star to run PnR with Howard?
DeleteI watch people talk and see the actions back up the talk. This actions speaks volume on Dwight really wanting Lin to stay and practice to create special connection. Wouldn't that be fair to say?
Lin's role might still have lower priority than Harden's ISO when they get back to Houston. But this is Lin's best chance to show what he can do with Howard. If he can't impress Howard and Hakeem, then that's on Lin to defer the playmaking to Harden, right?
Nothing is 100% but this is huge in my opinion. Lin might feel assured that he won't be traded before the season starts. Otherwise, why go to Colorado with Dwight and Hakeem wasting precious time and money?
Solidz, I might be an optimist but I do use logic to string together events on how people talk and talk and see if they back it up with some actions :)
DeleteAnd I definitely prepare for some possibility that Lin would still be a secondary playmaker behind Harden with even with this training. There's no guarantee that Harden will be a traditional SG and Lin will be the first playmaker. It's up to Lin to prove that he can do a better job than Harden to do PnR with Howard but still feed Harden the ball. That's what a good PG should do.
It's a step in the right direction that proves Dwight wants to work with Lin to create something special but it's not a 100% guarantee. Lin has to seize the chance ,prove himself and impress Dwight, Hakeem and the coaches. He needs to work his butt off to charm the jury in this audition.
and have to disagree with khuang's reality distortion: the coaches will be surprised at how good a healthy Lin is.
Deletemorey and mchell knew exactly what lin is capable of or else they wouldn't go out of their way to put lin in a position to fail.
No psalm. U r using words, not actions as a proof that things are changing. If u were to take those words form Rox's franchise at face value then u would think Jeremy has a great future in Houston.
DeleteMaybe Jeremy arrived in Denver earlier than others. Maybe harden and chandler have other bligations?
U r seeing why your mind wants u to see.
All of this are just speculations. Can u be cautiously optimistic? YES.
But to declare that this is a CLEAR sign is really over stretching it.
Wait till u see how Jeremy is utilized in the season prior to gettin all giddy.
Remember this is the franchise who declares Lin to be one of the foundational pieces prior to last season. People really have short memories..
You misunderstood. I meant Dwight's words, not the Rox's words.
DeleteThe Rox (McHale and Morey) words mean nothing to me because their actions spoke otherwise, i.e. McHale's double standard on Harden and Lin regarding TOs and stopping ball movement, Morey trading PPat after praising him much.
For Dwight, it's 1-0 regarding Lin since he said he wanted to create Dwinsanity and he didn't waste time to train with Lin under Hakeem.
Let's take the middle-ground here and be cautiously optimistic.
Does it mean Lin won't get traded 100%? Of course not. But it's a big plus for Lin's career because Dwight wants him. We should be cautiously happy with that because what Dwight wants, Dwight gets in Houston now.
As for me, I only care what Dwight thinks of Lin because I know McHale and Morey still don't believe in Lin. They would have no problems trading Lin away.
Lin shouldn't waste this golden opportunity because if he gets on Dwight's good side, he can be the main PG. Lin needs to prove himself.
Psalm234!
DeleteYou're trying to reason with two VIRULENT LOHs in Etane and Solidz75 who are here to flame Lin and Lin fans.
They're trying to twist your words.
KHuang, IMO they are not Lin haters (KHuang haters maybe :)
DeleteSolidz is just too well-trained to see worst-case scenario in all situations so he's not comfortable with early celebrations. So he just needs some assurance that Dwight likes Lin and it's okay to smile and celebrate a bit :)
Etane is just a jokester who sometimes are too liberal with words and doubts Christianity which happens to be Lin's faith.
I'm trying to be a good friend with good influence on them :)
It won't work, psalm234.
DeleteMultiple people, including myself, have already attempted what you are trying to do.
You'll find out that it's impossible to reason with LOHs like Etane and Solidz75 who are here to try to discourage people from being Lin fans.
This training session is a step in the right direction as for establishing JLin's role in the Houston lineup, but I agree with being cautiously optimistic about the results. We have no idea if Dwight Howard is genuinely excited about working with JLin or he was left with no choice at this point (at least until the Rockets can make a trade to get another starting PG) with the season opener looming closely. Whatever that may be, I think JLin will be given a chance to play with Dwight Howard and convince him through actual performance that he's the best person to give him the ball. If Dwight Howard buys into JLin, then the rest of the team may follow. There's always the possibility that the Rockets will continue to marginalize JLin and install Harden as the PG and give JLin Steve Novak's role lol. We will see.
DeletePsalm are u that gullible in real life? Words shouldn't mean that much. .. Do u know Dwight personally to give him the benefit of the doubt? Remember this is the diva who completely made fool of himself saying he didn't ask for SVG to be fired right after SVG said he knew for a fact that Dwight did..
DeleteLike I said before, your joy is not cautious optimism but a clear Thing. U r just setting yourself up for another huge disappointment.
I'm not a pessimist but a realist. There is nothing wrong with waiting to see some concrete result before jumping into conclusions and proclaiming hallelujah.
I mean at least get a film clip or something. A CLEAR outlook based on a tweet?! SMDH..
DeleteIn life, one has to risk failure to win success.
DeleteWhat's Lin to do, TURN DOWN the offer to help Dwight Howard get comfortable offensively?
I am an optimist but also a realist. I hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
DeleteIf I were Lin, preparing for the worst (things don't change and Harden is still the PG) should not take away my joy and hope at the moment (getting a chance to learn from the Dream and training with Dwight).
If I were Lin, I would try to push away negative thoughts (distrust with Howard/McHale there) because it will materialize in how he interacts or performs in the training session.
Is it gullible to choose to focus on positive things? Perhaps, but if it will help Lin to perform well and build trust with Howard and impress Hakeem and the coaches so he can solidify the PG role (the final goal), then it's a good thing to be gullible.
In my experience, I found that having positive thinking before I swing my golf club or shoot a basketball helps me to make good shots. But maybe that's just me :)
mind over matter helps! just like how you think solidz and i are instigating racial slurs on this forum. doesn't matter the facts. what you believe is what really matters!
DeleteNo, but perhsps u need to choose your words more carefully.
DeleteDeclaring this tweet as a " game changer" for Lin. A sign that Dwight "clearly" wants Lin over harden. Those declarations are huge leaps from a simple, probably meanungless, tweet. Honestly, don't know a person outside of our resident delusiomal extremist dude who can "logically" make that conclusion.
And im not saying Lin shouldn't work out with him ( don't know how this moron came out with that idea either )
All I'm saying is people need to temper their enthusiasm. It really makes u guys look pathetic , just waiting for that good news to hold on to.
This isn't a game changer. Perhaps a ray of optimism? That's all it should be at this point.. But it should take much more than a simple tweet to change our otherwise glim outlook on Lin's upcoming season with the rox..
well can you really blame us to get excited? We haven't heard any good news from the Rox since he signed $25M deal. That's how bad it has been.
Deleteok, perhaps I was to giddy to use the word 'game-changer' when thinking Lin won't get traded before the season starts.
DeleteThat would be the worst scenario to be a miscast before having a chance to play with Dwight. If Lin is still traded close to Feb 2014 trading deadline, that would still be better since he will look good playing with Howard.
"Ray of Optimism" then!
@psalm I like your enthusiasm. I am also hopeful that Dwight and Jeremy will gel in a way that is extraordinary.
DeleteIt's nicer and more fun to read your sunshine style instead of 'cloudy with a chance of hail'.
thanks, @Pop Doggy. I like your hopeful outlook, too.
DeleteYes, let's hope for the best that Dwight and Lin will click so well in this session. Also that Hakeem sees what we all see in Lin.
"• It's nicer and more fun to read your sunshine style instead of 'cloudy with a chance of hail'. "
DeleteGoogle Translate:
"Oh, Psalm!!! i'd rather live in an imaginary, happy go lucky world, where we can all hold hands around the statue of Lin and sing amazing grace - rather than to face the harsh reality and the unforgiving truth...
solidz, stop making fun of religion whose purpose is to answer life's tough question with god luvs us all and has a plan for each of us.

DeleteThe clouds just keep coming! It is rather ironic that there are so many Lin fans who make fun of his/their own faith, and other people who are his fans on a Jeremy Lin fansite. Must be weird in that contradictory world, where you like the guy, but dislike the core of who he is.

Google translate
@solidz
I'm gonna act like I'm talking to psalm because even in this anonymous world of www, I'm not a man enough (like my name implies) to address you directly.
I'm a much better fan than you because as a fan, u have to like everything your idol does. Do u see Beliebers with their loyalty? That is what u have to be. This prick may piss on trssh cans, do drugs, act like a fake tough guy, but the fans overlook all that and still love him. Just like then, as a fan, U can't criticize Lin in anyway like u do.
It must be hard being u because I love Lin for who he is. I am such good fan ( pats himself on the head). Here pop doggy doggy..
well, that's kind of expected bec. of who he represents, right? John 15:18
DeleteIt's something that Lin must carry as his cross despite all the good things he has done. Scary how accurate it is.
i agree with psalm.
Deletedwight howard already went to china during the summer and met with lin. i think dwight also went shrimp fishing.
this is a good sign that dwight is willing to open up a friendship with jeremy before the season starts. it's already much better than dwight's relationship with kobe. dwight already said that houston will be a "fresh start".
it's possible that jeremy lin will automatically get 2 or 3 more assists per game with dwight just because of asik's butterfingers last season.
that's what we all expect, @lin2improve.
DeleteMore good signs leading to more good signs that Dwight is serious about creating something special with Lin. The big X factor is definitely how Harden will react with it. Would he take a backseat to split 50-50 the job as the playmaker?
But we still have to see how all of this translates to the training camp. I would expect the Rockets would try to appease both Dwight and Harden first before assigning bigger role to Lin. A lot of unknowns indeed.
i guess that's the difference between religious people and non religious people. religious people are either or but doesn't know what gray area exists and calls it contradictory.

Delete@Whoever thinks it's them
DeleteYou try way too hard to be jerk! LOL
But what am I doing wasting my time replying. (Gone)
ok i guess all people who don't subscribe specifically to the same faith as lin does need not root for him anymore. to do so means you're a contradicting jerk.
Deletei am not even a big fan of mcchickens, chicken wings or double doubles. i guess i am the a lin fan of the lowest order in fact khuang is right about me that i am actually a lin only hater!
DeleteReligious people and khuang, whatever the eff he is..
DeleteAnd pop doggy don't be afraid. Don't be afraid. Don't follow in the steps of your idol Lin and say somethifng when it bothers u. I won't bite ( but maybe u will)
See this is what annoys me about some of these posters. his clearly bothered by what I said. But he thinks that he is insulting me by refusing to name me when it is clear that he cares enough to read my posts. And like it bothers me that he doesn't address me.
DeleteAnd while the manner I said it my be dickish ( it was intended that way) my message is not. I made it clear to you that I follow Lin because he is Asian basketball player who has the potential to be great- apparently on some of you I'm can't be a fan because I see that he is not perfect and he has flaws.
Do I hate Lin for his faith? No.
But while I think he could use his faith to really become a great basketball player, I think he is doing the opposite. I'm mocking Lin for being religious but for not being able to reconcile his drive to be great basketball player with being a good Christian. I don't think he believes that both can be done.
But I digress . And no one come to defend this pop DOGG.. Let him defend himself. It's a freakinf website. I don't even see u.
Pop Doggy, you're doing well.
DeleteEtane and Solidz75 are here to flame Lin fans, and you just experienced that like so many Lin fans here have.
@Khuang
DeleteThanks musician. I do believe in what Psalm says about being positive in life, and in this case hopeful about Jeremy's efforts with Dwight.
I was very moved by Jeremy's testimony in the church in Taiwan. After that, it became clear to me that he'll be fine. He knows what he's up against.
As for those who flame me, I don't really mind. It's not like I have a reputation to protect on this site. So (shrug).
what a way to stay positive, @Pop Doggy!
DeleteIn a perfect world, respect and tolerance should be reciprocated among different people with differing faiths and beliefs.
IMHO, we should try to not make fun of others' belief (Christianity, Buddhist, atheist, etc.) because it will cross the respect boundaries.
Actually Pop Doggy and Psalm234, you guys are RIGHT.
DeleteI don't have a reputation here to protect either. I'm an NBA ZERO, just like everyone else here.
I do get irritated when the societal racially based negativity against Lin spills onto this forum, and I do derive a sense of grim pleasure from LINBARRASSING the racists and LOHs. But I'm not actually here for that.
I came here to celebrate Lin the basketball player. Were he not Asian, I'd celebrate him just the same. Lin is the best young guard I've seen come into the NBA since Brandon Roy.
Rox's guide on how to appease Angry Lin fans
ReplyDelete1. Marginalize Lin anyway u want to on the court during the regular season
2. Unsuccessfully try to trade him in the off season.
3. Lie and say that your franchise players really wanted him on the team just to save face.
4. Go on reddit to praise him with any b.s. u can.
5. Have a hall of a famer player who barely ever tweets to tweet something with Lin's name on it
6. Lay back and smile as the lin fans erupt in joy and get excited for the season.
7. Marginalize Lin anyway u see for once the season starts.
lin is training with howard and dream!! lin must be the focus of the offense, the facilitator. morey and mchell has finally seen the light. praise allah!!
Deleteit's houston's version of malone and stockton, you just watch!! lin is going to get 20 assists per game!
Delete8. This fake training session is just another Morey's trade bait that Lin is wanted in Houston to be the main PG to feed Howard and Harden!
DeleteAs soon as Lin looks good in the preseason with Howard, Morey will trade him for his All-Star PF for any teams who has seen how good Lin can be! Don't trust Morey!
See, I can be negative too :D
9. Even if Lin stays in Houston because still no team wants him after impressive preseason highlights, he'll go back being a spot-up shooter. Rockets will use this training session to show Lin couldn't cut it as the PG so they go back to Harden as the main playmaker. Morey and McHale truly hate Lin and will do anything to marginalize him and destroy his career!
DeleteI'm getting good at this :D
You're indeed getting good, psalm234!
DeleteIt's hilarious to see you mocking the two LOHS in Etane and Solidz75 on this forum.
Psalm234, I'll join you on mocking Solidz75 and Etane's attempts to trash Lin:
Delete10. McHell and Morey are simply faking their belief in Lin by GIVING HIM EVERY CHANCE TO SUCCEED so that they can mock Lin fans on this forum when Lin fails due to being a "pussy chink who can't shoot, defend, or pass" the way Etane and Solidz75 have repeatedly said.
lol serving your white masters at the rocket's organization again with your reality distortion, secret agent khuang?
Deleteit was funny when psalm and solidz are going at it. Don't ruin it by butting in!
KHuang, I'm not mocking them because those scenario might still happen (with smaller% now). But I realize how dangerous to have negative thinking all the time.
DeleteWe will stop seeing opportunities when they're in front of our eyes because all we see is the potential bad things that can happen. Meanwhile, people with positive thinking will grab the opportunities and run with it. And we're left in the dust!
IMHO, we should hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
In this case, it's good that Dwight wants Lin but Houston definitely might still trade him. In the meantime, we should be allowed to celebrate a little :)
Exactly, psalm234.
Delete"Negative thinking" about Lin and Lin's fans is the territory of LOHs like Etane and Solidz75 who are here to try to flame away as many of Lin's fans as possible.
Etane and Solidz75 are just as interesting to watch in their limitless hatred of Lin and Lin fans as Lin is himself.
And if I may ask politely, KHuang, please don't bring up racial/sexual terms again even when they might have used them in the past.
DeleteOtherwise you'll be the first one to bring them up and they will retaliate with other words.
I remember you mentioned to be mindful since there are kids reading this thread (my youngest son did yesterday) so let's forget the past sins and start a new chapter.
Please?
Sure.
DeleteMy problem is that I'll address the REAL reasons why Etane and Solidz75 are here to flame this forum instead of playing the cloak and dagger flame game that they think they're fooling us with.
Thanks, KHuang!
DeletePerhaps you can use the censored version (c***k or p***y) so you won't be guilty of bringing them up in a new thread :D
psalm! we never bring up sexual and racial slurs! stop defenidng khuang at every opportunity you get! khuang is the only instigator here!
Delete11. Let's make Lin's life miserable for the things he said in Taiwan by forcing him to travel to Denver while Harden and Parsons stay home chillaxing.
Deleteok Etane, sorry if I'm wrong on who brought up sexual and racial slurs. Things can get really muddy up in our old threads. Perhaps we should have a counter of who brought up those terms from now own. Someone had the brilliant idea before. Strike 1 on KHuang here! :)
Deletejk did.. boom line stepper or something...
Deletemod started deleting khuang's racial/gay slurs in the last thread. otherwise, strike 2 and 3 on khuang.
"But I realize how dangerous to have negative thinking all the time.
DeleteWe will stop seeing opportunities when they're in front of our eyes because all we see is the potential bad things that can happen. Meanwhile, people with positive thinking will grab the opportunities and run with it. And we're left in the dust!"
-But the opportunities could be only a mirage/trap, instead of running away with it, you could fell into it and die.
very true, Rikki. The trick is for Lin to figure out if this Denver training has some booby traps and avoid it at all costs. Or at least take McHale to go down with him if it's too late.
Deletejk :) I know what you meant. Lin certainly needs to be careful not to be too trusting and getting burned.
But even if there are traps, I think Jeremy had to do this.
DeleteI mean we complain a lot about how he's not proactive enough or does not speak out enough about his role. Well, I think this is his way of saying that he will work to be an important part of the core.
I MUCH rather see Jeremy there working with Dwight, than Bev or Harden. So given the alternatives, this is great!
It's sad to see how much Rockets have marginalized their starting PG, so that even one mention of his name gets his fans excited.
ReplyDeletehaha good one eb!
Deletetrue :) it's so bad that we learn not to trust any good news because usually it won't change anything. That's how bad Lin's experience with the Rockets so far.
DeleteI suspect with Lin things don't always happen the way he wants it. Just like good things happen when he least expects it.
DeleteSeriously.. Not a film clip, not even Dwight himself with all of his social media presence saying it..
DeleteIt's a freaking a tweet from Hakeem with a pic of something totally not basketball related.
And now people proclaim that it's CLEAR that Dwight wants Lin over Harden. Case closed..
Really pathetic... Smh.... Man guys have some pride...
I hope if Rockets don't play well even with Dwight and Harden (and now supposedly great Parsons), Rockets fans don't start blaming Lin for Rockets not meshing and playing well. For supposedly an average PG, Lin sure gets blamed a lot. It's good that Lin is a better person than I, because if I were him, I would be sitting on the bench, laughing silently while collecting my dough, while the great PG to be, Pat Bev starts, until they are forced to start me, and then I can start to show what I can do.
Deleteeb, you don't sound very humble. what would jesus do?
DeleteIn other words, if Rockets sucks, they better blame super stars Dwight and Harden, and little star, Parsons, and then wanna-be star Patrick, rather than an average PG, Lin.
Deleteactually, jesus would probably do what you do.
DeleteDo you care what Buddha would do? I care what Mohammad would do. He would not be happy had he been treated this way.
DeleteActually, Lin, Howard and Hakeem might be having the same discussion at the moment on what Jesus, King Solomon and Muhammad would do with Harden's beard.
Deleteno one would be happy bout being treated this way not just mohammad. mohammad was supposed to be a very nice guy. his successors were not so.
Deletewhat did jesus say to muhammad about harden's beard?
Nothing. Jesus wept. lol
Deletejesus weeps every time khuang utters a racial/gay slur here...

It's like he has nothing better to so but repeats the same thing over and over.
Oh Etane and solidz's gay.

DeleteWouldn't have supported this losers ass, had I known he was going to use Lin like this...
does any of the profits go to charity or something?
Deletedon't spoil me solidz. i haven't been to the movies in like 20 years. if ever this gets shown in my country , it will be the first , in 20 years. , that i'll be watching a movie (i mean , watching a movie in a theater ). so plsssss.... lol
DeleteWell even if they show those clips, I'm still looking forward to see the movie AND have it saved on my portable media player. :)
Deleteno movies in 20 years? ...
Deletedwight howard went to the finals with jameer nelson. nelson averaged over 40% from 3-pt land a couple seasons with dwight, but then without dwight last season his percentage dropped to 34.1%.
ReplyDeletelin is going to get more open looks and must take advantage. i hope he's able to build chemistry with dwight both on and off the court, so that there isn't any tension like there was with kobe.
Not sure what the big deal is, its just more PR, why is everyone getting excited either positively or negatively over this?
ReplyDeletedamn there's silly optimism from psalm and nihilistic pessimism from kenoshi and solidz. where is the middle ground?
Deletehey Kenoshi, long time no see.
DeleteWell, not a big deal yet really. Just a ray of hope that Lin will get a chance to practice some ESPN highlights to get traded to other teams to play the true PG. Or the best case scenario, he might grab the true PG role if he impresses Dwight, Hakeem and the coaches.
I'm just glad that Lin would get a chance to play with Dwight, not get dumped before the season starts.
I think Dwight Howard is viewed as the legit foundational piece. I think Houston loves Parsons second for everything he represents on and off the court, even though nobody will say it out loud.
DeleteHouston does view Harden as the star guard to pair with Dwight. They currently see Lin as expendable. But if Harden broke his leg preseason, or had back problems long term while Lin capably took over and the team continued to win big, Morey would trade out Harden in a heartbeat, but he wouldn't do it to Dwight Howard.
Lin is not getting traded anytime soon because NO NBA TEAM WANTS HIM. And if they do, they will only risk garbage parts for him. Being Asian is good in this instance.
Lin is gonna be on a mega power Houston team, and probably get to play 20 minutes a game regardless of how he plays.
It has its pros and cons, but I'll focus on the positive. I believe Lin is going to play in the playoffs this year and play very well. That's all that really matters.
Get ready my friends for some VERY frustrating and poor substitution patterns this year when it comes to Lin. If you thought last year's sub patterns were bad, wait till you see this years....hopefully Lin is that much better so the malicious sub patterns are even more painfully obvious.
If Lin gets 40 minutes a game in the preseason and shines, I suspect the Rockets are simply trying to aggressively trade him.
I am not getting suckered in to buying NBA league pass this year or ever again. The Rockets and the NBA can only fool me once and I wish more Lin fans were on board with this. I also am not ever paying money to watch Lin again in person while he is a Rocket unless his role changes and/or he is traded.
Etane, what are u talking about. The all knowing solidz always speaketh the truth. No optimism or pessimism.. The is me and those who choose to ignore it. That's all.
DeleteGood food for thoughts for the LP and tickets, swing! I will have to think about them. I do need some new golf clubs.
DeleteLet the record show that fespite my so called "pessimism", I have already paid for NBA league pass on direct tv for the sole purpose of seeing Lin play,
DeleteYeah boy.. How's that for pessimism u punks!?
Unlike khuang and many many of you here, I actually watch Lin play with my OWN eyes and make the determination about Lin's potential MYSELF!!!
Let's see how many of u actually watch Lin's games this season. And I'm looking at you khuang.. No more disappearing during game threads and acting like u know what happened u punk!
that's cuz you're rich. anyone can pay a lil money and get a league pass.
Deletethe real fans go on those websites that display the games on low res video with hard to hear audio and constant video freezes.
i risk my vision going bad watching lin games. who cares about your chump change!
STRIIIKE 3 ... and 4
DeleteOops, this might get deleted by mod.
Khuang better show up this year. I'm gonna call him out every game. No more I didn't get to see the game but I know Lin played well and the refs screwed him.
Deleteyou must be a lin only hater to watch all of lin's games.
Deletea real lin only fan will miss all his games and pretend to know everything about that went on during the game and call everyone else who disagrees with him as lin only haters.
Solidz75 who said Lin "can't shoot or defend and is soft" will be looking for Lin to have another "disappointing" season.
DeleteEtane who calls this board "delusional" and invents insane garbage like "Lin is never double teamed" and "Lin failed in Houston" and "Lin is a c----" (kudos to you, psalm134) is looking for more opportunities to curse Lin fans by calling them "alcoholic druggies" and slanderimg the Asian race like he's been doing at Asian Lin fans here for over a year now.
Some NBA players practice boxing. Should Lin try it? Would a PG/spot-up shooter benefit from it?
ReplyDeleteAnd how about kungfu or other martial arts?
No. The only possible gain from boxing and kung fu etc is practicing explosiveness to increase athleticism. There are more efficient ways to do that unless Lin is extremely proficient in boxing, kung fu, or martial arts already.
DeleteI doubt he is, so he's better off sticking to working on basketball related explosive drills and explosive weight lifting.
Those Spurs guys box sometimes because they are just bored from working out for over a decade and a half. They are looking for some gimmick to keep them motivated. They'd be better off sprinting up steep inclines and doing basketball specific crossfit WODs but most ball players are too lazy.
Lin is pretty much doing basketball-like properly programmed crossfit WODs. Whomever convinced Lin to do semi-olympic lifts and heavy weights saved Lin's career.
Lin's obviously one of those naturally skinny type Asians who aren't necessarily big & strong so he had to hit the weights hard to have a chance to properly use his natural speed and quickness in games.
He should learn martial arts for the sole purpose of avoiding getting bullied.
Deletei thought you were going to say he should improve his jump shot.
Deleteoh well, thanks swing, I was hoping some martial arts would help giving quick reflexes to protect against hard contact around the rim and collision like how Lin suffered the injury against Sefolosha.
DeleteIs there a way to make Lin's head tougher, so that all opposing players who hit him will have bruised hands?
Deleteswinglinezigzag wrote, "Whomever convinced Lin to do semi-olympic lifts and heavy weights saved Lin's career."
Deletei think he might have been training and getting analyzed at the gatorade institute. it looked a lot better than what he was doing at sparta.
jeremy lin is going to be sweating. his heart is going to be beating a fast rate. the fans are going to be cheering loudly. he's going to be breathing hard with his lungs. 8 repetitions with a heavy weight for 3 sets in a workout don't sound meaningful when the point guard position is the fastest in the nba. would that help playing 30 minutes on a basketball court? and then going into overtime? or what about playing on the next night of a back-to-back after flying on a jet?
my recommendation is to seek an elite tennis coach to learn ways to improve his side-to-side movements and endurance after the 1st quarter, after the 2nd quarter, after the 3rd quarter, etc. the ball travels over 100 miles per hour, and you need very good endurance over a tennis match that can last over 2 hours.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4CIC2WVJH8
i hope jeremy lin doesn't get burned with cross-overs when he starts against the former mvp, derrick rose. remember, this isn't a set of 8 to 12 repetitions. lin will have to face this isolation pressure throughout the game.
Is there a player in the entire NBA that doesn't get burned by Derrick Rose's MVP level crossovers?
DeleteI can't think of a single player that can singlehandedly stop a healthy Derrick Rose, not even Lin.
I just read an article that said Jeremy was working out with McHale, Howard and Hakeem to prove himself to McHale and fight for the starting PG position. Don't know if it is true or not, but it is pathetic. If it is not true and Lin is PG, the press are a bunch of trouble making a holes. If it is true , McHale is a bigger loser than we all thought. If he would consider Ball breaking, knee smashing Bev , who has no offensive game, over one of the best P and R players in the league as his starter, he has a screw loose.
ReplyDeleteHouston Rockets: Hakeem Olajuwon Working With Dwight Howard and Jeremy Lin
Olajuwon has already started working with Howard, but it appears now that he doesn’t mind working with the Rockets guards. He posted a tweet Tuesday evening from his personal account about working out with Howard and Jeremy Lin:
Aspen is a place Howard has grown fond of, as he spent his days there contemplating about which team to sign with during his free agent period. It seems like he was able to persuade the Rockets coaching staff, as well as Lin, to spend some time there with him.
The talk all off-season has been how the James Harden-Howard pick-and-roll will work, but Lin has been a very effective player off on-ball screens throughout his short career. It’s always a good sign on any team for the starting point guard and starting center to work on creating on-court chemistry before training camp begins.
A good sign indeed. Thanks, Maknusia.
DeleteHouston Rockets Unveil 'A New Age' Billboards
In anticipation of the new season, the Rockets have unveiled billboards of Harden, Howard, Jeremy Lin and Chandler Parsons, playing up the fact that they're entering "a new age" of basketball.
Expectations have soared since the addition of Howard. If Harden could lead them to the playoffs on his own, Howard should be the missing championship piece. That's what they hope, and it's what they're selling us on when both stars strike poses like these.
Speaking of which, I've been meaning to address that. Their guises in these visual blurbs look unnatural. Parsons and Lin's are fine, as is the dribbling shot of Harden, but what gives elsewhere?
They should have got Asik in there as well...hmmm

Deletevery interesting warfare analogy, via :}
DeleteSlingers are just half the equation with defense as the other half to win championships.
The Suns were up there in the chart all those years but the strategy of outscoring the opponent was not enough. Miami has the smothering defense, LeBron and slingers to get the ring. Without Ray Allen, LeBron would be accused of choking in the 4th quarter again.

Etane and Solidz75 are trying to turn this forum against Lin and make it into an anti Lin site like clutchfans.
With the acquisition of Howard,I wonder how Asik is feeling now.Howard and J are working out early, working on their games and chemistry. Is he still in Turkey?Would McHale be using them as "Twin Towers"?
ReplyDeleteGreat question, IsabeliJane.
DeleteOffense won't be the problem, but defense would be.
Howard has the max contract mobility to defend against pick and rolls from either frontcourt position. Asik does not and will often get subbed about if matched up against a perimeter shooting center.
The question is whether or not Howard would willingly defend power forwards, particularly of the stretch variety. In the past, Howard hasn't been willing to step far outside the paint on defense. We'll see what happens this season.
first of all, your response isn't relevant to the queestion.
Deleteprobably because your response is prefabricated as you've repeated the same "asik doesn't guard perimeter shooter" comment like a hundred times already.
with no other reliable big, asik should stay under the basket and let a PF rotate to the perimeter.
Well Asik already publicly asked to be traded so we can guess how he feels. Last year he proved he's a legitimate starting center (although his offense was inflated thanks to Jeremy feeding him the ball). Now he gets to come off the bench.
DeleteI think the Rockets are trying to trade Asik more than they're trying to trade Lin at this point, since Asik isn't on the billboard.
Houston was rather successful with GS/OA twin towers and think they would be even more successful with DH/OA twin towers.
DeleteBut, would be more curious to see TJ and GS pair up with DH. Either would be an upgrade offensively compared to Asik. GS was a liability on defense last year.
Assuming TJ really improved offensively, the lin/TJ/DH trio would be most interesting to watch.
Etane, I disagree with your statement that my discussion of defense is irrelevant to the question whether Howard and Asik can play together.
DeleteA discussion of Asik and Howard's defense is VERY relevant to a "Twin Towers" discussion.
In today's NBA, simplistic defensive schemes like "Leave Asik down low" are repeatedly burned. NBA offenses have multiple ways of exploiting such schemes, including low screens and other wicked devices that create either driving lanes or open 3 pointers. Jeremy Lin often was forced to chase down the perimeter players that had space created for them by guys like Asik getting exploited defensively off the ball.
In the case of Dwight Howard, it's not quite the same case as Asik or the other Rockets bigs. Howard is feared by opponents as a shotblocker, plus he is mobile. Even if he gets pinned in a cross screen down low, he has the capability to recover and at least dissuade dribble penetrators. Asik and the other Rockets bigs don't have that capacity, either physically or in terms of reading plays.
When I think of Houston Twin Towers with Asik and Howard in a best case scenario, I imagine both big men playing off each other defensively so that neither player gets consistently caught in offensive schemes designed to free open shots on the perimeter and at the rim. The danger is that both big men could inadvertently get caught in the midrange trying to zone both the inside and outside while the opposition slips in for layups or simply heaves 3s. It would require CHEMISTRY for Asik and Howard to work out those coverages.
Offensively, I'm not as concerned about Howard and Asik. There's enough firepower on the team with Harden and Parsons and Lin that both Howard and Asik could score single figures and still Houston would have potent team offensive numbers. I do believe that the offense can be worked out between Asik and Howard when they play together.
What will NOT work is if Asik is forced to come off the bench. I think Asik would be disgruntled enough to actively seek a trade to a team that will start him. Houston thus HAS to make this Twin Towers thing work, in my opinion.
Rockets Honor Houston's Heroes
Guess whose Jersey was presented in the frame?
Front office has no love to Lin? hmmmm
DeleteThey are afraid that #7 Jersey is to hard to sell? j/k
Deletethey don't have any other player on the team that has good name recognition and is known to be a good off court citizen perhaps.
Deletehmmm.. call me crazy but maybe because it's fire station #7? hence the #7 jersey?? i don't know.. just a wild guess.
Deleteyeah i honestly thought it was station #7 so Lin's jersey would make sense, #7? lol
Deletebut i think @Etane may have a point there too. Out of their big 3 or 4 Lin does have the best rep. but @BrentYen makes a point too. lol
My theory is the Rockets want to establish a special connection between Lin and #7 Fire Station so #7 firemen will volunteer to be Lin's enforcers when opposing players start hitting his head :]
DeleteHeaven forbid (ooh, I just offended the anti Christian LOHs on this board) that the Rockets are FEATURING Lin!
DeleteYup. It must be that fire station #7 (rollleyes).
Jeremy Lin Still A Key Part Of Marketing The Houston Rockets, Despite Trade Rumors

Extreme Makeover: Rockets Edition
ReplyDeleteDiscussing and dissecting the Rockets' past, present and future
Future stars: ...Then you have Jeremy Lin, who has already shown an ability to take his game to another level for stretches. And though he struggled at times during his first full season as a starting point guard, he also shot 40 percent from downtown over the course of the last three months of the campaign and delivered a 38-point performance against the Spurs and a 29/7/6 game against the Thunder -- the explosive upside Lin showed the world during the throes of Linsanity still lurks.
...
And finally, is there perhaps a better way to utilize Jeremy Lin? As you noted, Lin made tremendous strides as the season progressed, peaking out at 17 and 7 in the final month and hitting 40% on 3’s. But I’d really like to see him play a greater role in the offense (USG% of 20.8), especially given that James Harden (USG% of 29.0) seemed to wear down at the finish line. Each player fared better statistically while the other was not on the court, so perhaps staggering their minutes a bit more might be the answer.
Looks like Heat will be tough to dethrone with all good back-ups they have, now that they signed Beasley guy. Riley gets all these players who need second chance at cheap price to complement their star players.
ReplyDeleteit would be interesting to see if the vets can help Beasley to not fall off the bandwagon with drugs again. The Suns tried their best with a coach/mentor but perhaps players will be better as mentors.
DeleteI don't know if Beasley can be salvaged.
DeleteHe left Miami under a drug cloud, was inefficient in MN and nonexistent in Phx, and still has criminal issues to deal with.
Miami now has Greg Oden too, but I don't know what his legs are like. Oden has not played professional basketball in a long time. Were he my player, I'd send him down to the D league for a few games just to see if his legs hold up.
Didn't Beasley once score 20 points per game?
DeleteYes he did, eb5attorney, in Minnesota while playing for Kurt Rambis alongside Kevin Love.
DeleteHowever Minnesota was a bad team when Beasley was there and Beasley's lack of defense and errant shooting were a big reason way.
Yet I don't consider MN getting Beasley a failure because David Kahn gave up only 2 second round picks for him at the time.
David Kahn made some major league errors, but I don't blame him for taking a chance on Beasley.
