  3. Glad to hear things are going according to plan, and not letting uncertainties about changing teammates distract him from improving on his weaknesses.

And it does sound like he has come to better terms with his popularity. From the beginnign he has recognised it as a double edged sword. There is the distraction, but there is also the opportunity to influence.

Just glad that amidst his rigorous summer training schedule he has left some time for his fans!

  4. Now I understand why he leave the training in LA.
He knows that at any time can be trade
Lin can play more 2 seasons for Houston but he is no longer a Rockets
This season will be Lin versus McHale

  5. While many are just excited on his Asian trip , expect the tirades to come...

more like - He should be training to death... or He should be practicing his 3's .... or He should be worrying about whether he will still be the starting PG... blah blah blah

    2. What a preemptive attack! chan c is a prophet :}

Rose is just showing concern below but others will overreact and write long essays on how Lin should lock himself in the gym 24hrs/day :D

Good to note that many NBA players go to Asia (Howard to go to China, Harden just back from Phillipines, Harrison Barnes). It's just part of their responsibility to their sponsors and build their brand with Asia fans.

      so chillax, people :D
Grab a ball and play in the backyard instead.

  6. For fun, this is Nash's answer to Zach Lowe posing the same question about PnR. Not much different, but Lin's response is much more detailed.

Zach Lowe: "Here’s a question I love asking point guards: When you run a pick-and-roll and you look over the defense, who concerns you most: your one-on-one defender, the big guy defending your screener, or the other three defenders behind the play?"

Nash: "It’s actually the big man defending the screener for me. Some point guards are better defensively than others, but even a really good point guard defender can get crushed on pick-and-rolls. That big man defending with them has to be engaged. He has to be mobile. The biggest thing for a big guy guarding pick-and-rolls is to be early — to do your work early, and then your job is easier. That’s the biggest quality."

    1. Great minds think alike. And it was great hearing Jeremy "talk shop."

His comments on posture were interesting as well. Didn't seem to hurt him much before, but maybe a less hunched stance will help him slip through screen more easily (and be better for his back/joints).

  7. I hope Lin does keep training while in China. It is imortant for his career to make these trips , but training hard is necessary as well. I am sure he knows this and is prepared to do his best to work on his skills.

We know from last year that he trains 4-6 hrs/day during his Asia trip.

If anything, positive support from his Asia fans and giving back to teach kids in BBall camp will spur him to bring his best next season!

      Besides, I'm expecting a Snoopy sequel :p

You and Solidz75 could enjoy each other.

    9. psalm234, we'll indeed see each other at games at some point this season.

Etane LYING AGAIN about me missing you at the games is typical troll BS. No wonder eb5attorney and I and several others call him "Butane Etane".

As for Solidz75, dumb juvenile delinquents like him are why people admonish youngsters to "don't do drugs".

      Delete
    10. missing each other at games? you expressly refused psalm's invitation to meet up. what are you scared of?

    11. Etane, this is another one of yor racist troll schemes.

psalm234 is one of our nicest Asian Americans here. There's no need fpr anybody to be scared of him, contrary to what you're saying.

You REALLY hate the Asians here, Etane.

    12. this is exactly why people would pay good money to watch a good Odd-Couple fight over a cup of tea!

"Can you pass the cup?" "What, you don't think I can pass, I'm no gunner like u!" "You hate this Asian tea, don't you? You always do" "Arghh, that cup of tea will be traded soon!"

jk :} KHuang, let's get together during half-time in the next game to get some of those overpriced hot dogs. You can safely tell me juicy bits on Etane and Solidz if you'd like.

    13. Sounds good, psalm234.

This season, I will force myself to go to more Suns games. Perhaps we can meet up at a nonRockets game.

psalm234, what do you think of the upcoming season for the Suns? I think that they're going to be SCARY BAD.

Last season I accurately predicted that Kendall Marshall would be an utter bust. While Kendall Marshall looked like an All Star as he thoroughly outplayed Patrick Beverley and James Harden, he got absolutely ROASTED by Jeremy Lin when they were matched up.

Michael Beasley was recently busted for marijuana possession, so I don't think he'll be a Sun anymore. I had this wild notion that the Suns would trade Beasley's contract for Lin, but then I remembered that the Suns don't make smart moves like that. Beasley was largely a nonfactor for the Suns, a leftover from the ill fated Lance Blanks era.

From what I've seen of Alex Len, I'm not impressed thus far. He is hobbled by injuries, and I'm not seeing true basketball instincts from him. I'm not as utterly dismissive of Len as I was of Kendall Marshall last season, but I don't see Len becoming a rotation contributor this season.

Eric Bledsoe is supposed to be the next Kevin Johnson. I, and many others here, are not high on Bledsoe's game. I'm not seeing the court vision or gamesmanship that a much more proven guy like Lin has. I don't think Bledsoe is going to have the All World impact the Suns tout him as having, plus the Suns had to give up their glue guy in Jared Dudley to get him. Dudley WILL be missed, though not by Chandler Parsons and especially James Harden who were DESTROYED by Dudley last year.

I wish Lin were playing for the Suns. He could turn the Suns around singlehandedly. If there's a team that desperately needs Lin's skills, it's Phoenix.

      Delete
    14. Forget the sun's games. Please watch more of Lin's games before u comment. And I don't mean highlights or written play by play.

      Delete
    17. so, khuang, why don't you just accept psalm's invitation to meet up at a rocket's game?

why do you spend so much energy trying to change the topic?

psalm has repeatedly invited you on several occasions where you guys went to the same game. why not just meet up when you guys were already at the same place?

and, why did you say that you don't want to meet up at a rockets game but its ok to meet up at a non-rockets game?

c'mon khuang stop evading the questions.

    19. whoa, things escalated quickly :D

No hot dogs then, let's get some noodles, KHuang. And Etane, if you're not coming, you can't chime in on the menu.

And no pics for you Solidz. You and Etane just have to make the meeting in person. I want to ask KHuang what he really thinks of you and Etane beneath all the usual shticks :] And I wish via could grace us with her presence. I'll introduce you to the whole family.

KHuang, I don't know enough about the new Suns. And I'm not sure I want to spend money to watch the rebuilding Suns if the Rockets is not visiting. Do they really expect Dragic and Bledsoe to play at the same time? The GM might trade Kendall Marshall away soon. I'm somewhat curious about how Jeff Hornacek will do as a coach.

      Delete
    20. psalm234, don't listen to the two closet gays in Etane and Solidz75 who're LYING about you and I being gay and using hot dogs for sexual purposes.

We can eat whatever we want at the concessions stands, though the lines are always very long. Do they even serve noodles at halftime?

Besides, there's always the Ranch99 Market at the Chinese Cultural Center. Szechuan Palace over there serves very good food. The hostess is Taiwanese, and we speak Taiwanese to each other. The real gem is that little Hong Kong restaurant right inside Ranch99. Their "neuro mien" or "goo bah mee" (Taiwanese for "beef noodles") is my favorite!

      Back to the Suns:

I don't mind spending money on the Suns even of they're rebuilding.

Sometimes one can get excellent seats for cheap when the Suns are bad or are playing a bad team. Besides, I love watching professional basketball even if the team isn't that good.

Dragic and Bledsoe can play at the same time. Dragic will be the point guard on offense and guard the shooting guard on defense. Bledsoe is probably not a PG setup man, but he can play a mini Westbrook role as a small penetrating rim attacking guard. The way the Suns are (de)constructed, they might as well throw Dragic and Bledsoe together because nobody else on the team can create his own shot.

Kendall Marshall is being shopped. He's just not NBA material. I accurately predicted him being an utter bust last summer, and I wrote that drafting him would set the Suns back for years. Marshall's simply not athletic enough to play in the NBA unless he's facing D league talent like Patrick Beverley.

Jeff Hornacek. I know nothing about him as a coach. I don't think any coach can get these Suns to win games consistently.

I feel bad for ex coach Lindsey Hunter. I thought he did a good job with the personnel last season. The Suns were organized, crisp, and professional with Hunter in charge. I hope Hunter gets another shot at being a NBA head coach one day.

      The NBA, A-through-Z: Jeremy Lin

  9. That was a really good interview by Friedman, and really insightful answers by Lin.

The biggest takeaway from this article was that last summer, his training was completely thrown off by his knee rehab. He didn't have consistent training because some days his knee couldn't do it. And then the surprise Harden trade completely changed Lin's role on the team. So the first half of the regular season really was his summer training.

This summer, he's been healthy and able to do a lot of training. And he knew way ahead of time the major acquisition of Dwight. So he can prepare physically and mentally for that change. I'm confident that Lin will hit the ground in stride starting in preseason this year, instead of taking half a season.

    3. Brent: Exactly!

Solidz75: Exactly! Lin is a fast learner.

We can read between the lines really good.

  10. The defense posture he mentioned is really fundamental. However, I did not realize on TV that he did what he said. I thought his posture was good. Anyway, he found issues and he always deals with it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. He always leaned forward too much which puts more of his weight on his upper back and calves.

Fisher looks funny with his butt sticking out all the time but his weight is focused on quad, butt and lower back.

In that reloaded training video, Lin's posture is much straighter. Notice his body (upper quad to lower back) moves in a vertical line when he crosses over now.

      Delete
    2. Hunchback of Notre Dame: Dam even Jeremaye Lin is referencing me...

      Delete
    3. Good point, @Etane. Honestly, I'm not sure why Lin's lateral quickness is so low when his first step is elite. Lateral quickness comes mainly from your glutes, and he has exceptional glute development, especially for an Asian. Hunching over favors your back, but also your quads. Keeping an upright posture engages your glutes, so in theory, forcing him to use his powerful glutes more could lead to nice gains in lateral speed.

Another fact is that knee injuries in athletes are usually the result of quad dominance and movement patterns that favor initiating movement with the quads rather than the glutes. Lin has had a couple knee injuries in the pros now, at Golden State and New York, and switching to an upright posture may very well save him from future ones.

      Delete
    4. "so in theory, forcing him to use his powerful glutes more could lead to nice gains in lateral speed"

i never thought lin was slower compared to people he's defending in terms of lateral quickness. but, his style of chasing pgs around looks very tiring. his steps are very heavy and change of direction are not smooth.

his new form looks a lot more relaxed as his whole body is now engaged in change in direction rather than just pivoting his legs and shoulders which causes knee to be more torqued.

think his new form won't necessarily increase his speed but will increase his durability and endurance.

      Delete
    4. Nope Solidz. True that Lin won't be credited for the team success but most definitely will be blamed for the failure. Unfortunately, that is pretty much how the game goes. We'll find out for sure once the season unfolded.

      Delete
    5. Nope. That would be the case if Lin had a bigger role on this team. I don't expect much in terms of his role this season. He is going to have a shorter leash and even less playing time.

Lin knows he will be gone sooner than later.

      Delete
    6. Yeah I too agree that Lin knows he is no longer a Rockets sooner or later. But will the idiot masses know that Lin have smaller or no role in the team? Many didn't know that Lin's role was significantly smaller last season and still bash Lin relentlessly.

There are many people out there craving for Lin to fail regardless of anything. There are plenty of people ready to fulfill that craving.

      Delete
    7. I think the media's sole focus will be on Howard - not unlike what happened to Lebron the first year he went to the heat. Wade and bosh didn't have as much pressure as LBJ did because of how it all went down. At this point, no one seems to care too much about Lin. A lot of people have already written him off.

Lin will be nothing but a footnote next year in houston. The only way Lin will stay relevant is if harden goes down with an injury. Good that Jeremy believes in a higher being. That is all he can hope for at this point - a divine intervention.

Also, events/trips like these help Jeremy relax mentally. If you don't think mental stress matters, just look at Tiger Woods. Major-less ever since his personal life went sour.

"did a bit of polishing with a Taiwanese tutor online too. :)"

Well, people on the Chinese Baidu Jeremy Lin Forum are speculating that this Taiwanese tutor, who's a lovely young lady and has been spending half an hour each day skyping with JLin to help him with his Mandarin, might have a "secret" relationship with him... ;-)

In case you are wondering about what the tutor looks like, please refer to the link below and go to the 25th floor:

    11. No offense meant but why would he need a Taiwanese tutor to polish his Mandarin?can't he just practice by conversing with his parents?

      Delete
    12. I guess his parent are busy?

      Delete
    13. Or maybe that was just an "extra" incentive to make him practice speaking Mandarin harder? Judging by the result, as shown in the press conference today, it seemed to have worked out pretty well... ;)

    18. i was paraphrasing what lin said in the Q&A. i might not captured the essence exactly, but i think i am pretty close in terms of reading between the lines.

"So for me, the summer is a time when I don’t really think about all that excess stuff. Each and every day is just about: how can I get better every day? I’m not too worried about fitting in because I don’t yet know what that’s going to look like. I won’t have a tangible understanding of what everything will look like until we all get together for training camp. But from a skill standpoint I know very clearly what I need to get better at."

    19. Etane's JLin-answer was from the edited utube vid. here's another one - 0:17 trade rumors: He wasn't too upset. they edited out the God mentions, maybe saving air time?

      on trade rumors:
JLin: yeah, that's a good question. I know NBA is a business, and they need to test the market. For me, I play for God, and no matter what team I go to, I should be giving my best. doesn't matter where I play, this is how I should play bball. as for the Rockets, I understand each player must consider trade possibilities, so for me, I'm no longer negatively affected [sad.]

interviewer: each NBA player can be traded.

      JLin: right. [mumble something.]

interviewer: even Kareen Abdul-Jabar was rumored [?], so no one is exempt. [?]

[not sure about translation, maybe someone can correct the mistakes.]

reposting this LINK WITH FULL INTERVIEW conveniently chunked down into individual questions.

You've been hurling curses and racial epithets and taunts of this board and the moderators from the very first day you posted that Asians are "druggies" among other things.

You've also called this board "stupid" and "delusional", especially when Lin is praised.

Racist, you serve a valuable purpose here. Your flaming, Etane, shows that racism against Asians is still very much alive and needs to be STAMPED OUT.

All he can do is make up things about his opponents being gay and racist. Not only that, he can only hide behind other forum members and tries to get the admin to fight his fights for him.

Blurry action photo of the day. @JLin7, @JHarden13, & @patbev21 will get a few assists throwing it up this year! pic.twitter.com/3StkiWS1dV

Morey subconsciously listed DHoward's order of preference for players who will assist him?

Perhaps the story of Dwight requesting Lin and Asik to stay has a lot of truth in it. He's afraid Harden will go Kobe on him.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Speaking of Omer Asik, I wonder what he's thinking.

While Olajuwon and McHale are fawning over Dwight Howard with the private workouts, Omer Asik is being left out of the coaching fold.

Alienating Omer Asik is not a smart move for the Houston Rockets, on many levels.

      Delete
    2. They really should trade him for Omer's sake and their own. His inflated value will never be higher -- trade him and one of their young PFs for a decent backup C and a proven starting PF.

This is what makes me think Morey is actually being somewhat honest when he says that Dwight and Harden "won't let him" move Jeremy or Omer. Dwight wants a high quality backup and Harden wants a no-drama PG.

I still think Omer will be moved at the deadline. Just makes too much sense.

      Delete
    3. My feeling is it will have to be a package deal with Lin. At least morey will sell it that way.

I think that is the only way a team will take Lin at this point with what is perceived as an inflated salary.

Big men are sought after commodity. Asik has raised value last season. Morey will find a way to u load him with Lin.

      Delete
    4. true, zxcvb. The key is what Howard really wants. I can also believe more that he was being genuine wanting Lin and Asik there, to his benefit of course to win championships.

But I don't think Omer will get moved unless Morey gets an All-Star PF in return that he can't refuse.

Dwight really wants to save his back by having Asik and ensure a pass-first PG in Lin to prevent reliving Kobe scenario with Harden.

It's really easy toregister . Just provide a screen name and create a pass word. No email, no nothing.

Let see u talk about your brilliant assessment of Lin and the NBA with a binafide NBA gm since u act so like a brilliant NBA mind.

I'd have more respect for you if you put up, but we both know u will cower before the masses.

But having said that, reddit members are much better behaved than clutchfan, with little tolerance for racism.

This would be a perfect opportunity to share his brilliant NBA analysis.

    7. the problem with houston and ilk is they classify those who are saying good things about lin as people who are lin only fans rather than those who want to see rockets win.

so, houston's problem is not as easy to correct if their brain dysfunction cannot be fixed first.

      Delete
    8. I doubt he will answer any tough questions but if there are enough Lin questions he won't be able to ignore them and will have to respond.

I will say something like IMO Lin is the best defender on the team and I'm sick and tired of Harden's laziness bringing everyone including Lin down. How do hope to address this this upcoming year?

Or Lin is a gunner but not being used like one. He shot 40% from the field in the second half. Why don't u use him like a gunner?

Do u guys think these questions are fair representation of what khuang would ask?

      Delete
    9. no. not at all. khuang has no guts to ask those type of questions on a non-jlin.net forum.

more likely, khuang will only kiss morey's ass and tell him he's running the team perfectly and he approves of the way lin was used last year and it's up to lin to improve his efficiency with the limited number of minutes and fga he will have during the coming season.
