I'm 1st and we know 1st is the best.
However, if we're talking about Jeremy here, then that's a really inspirational video. Love it!
Etane will say it is the worst. So I waited until you posted the 1st....lol
Gulp. #tearyeyed We know what this all means, and this man is really someone to behold ...
pop doggy seems to be both first and second which makes him the worst squared.

Solidz, u have no balls, it's clear. U wail dis and dat as the wind blows. #Imsolidzblind
lol refrain from your refrains solidz.
Solidz can you cut out the constant personal attacks? You ask how old JoeTeam is but how old are you? Grow up a little.
Thank you Dave T #nocahoots.
so why is the title asking me to go to 3:14 when the video is only 1:52 long?
If you knew, you would cry :-)If you are not Christian, then "I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call ..."To me, I love that I can sit a few seconds with what Jeremy is telling himself with the end of that sentence, to overcome all that he faces and we rant about here.
wut is 'upward call"? the mormon bugle blower image comes to mind.
the 'upward call' is that ultimate calling/mission - to please his Creator who is the sole reason for his existence. I know , eyebrows will raise. But , for Jeremy whose walk with God is undisputed , it is what it is. He clearly knows what he's living for.
I should've posted the 3rd as well but I got too busy!
i think that's one thing really great about religion. your direction is made very clear for you.poppy dog - woof woof.
I really enjoyed the video. I hope the S&C exercises that he did will help him on the defensive end. Kinda bummed that the video was so short, would have liked a full 8-9 minute video of his workout regime over the summer. The part at the beginning when he was working out on the treadmill with the mask was before the vacation he took at he start of the off season. I wish he would have worked with them more instead of just a day, or a few.Of course the video didn't show his entire workouts, but I hoped that the ball handling exercises would have been more intense. I.e. more concentrated nba level defense as LIN goes and finish with his left. Also more catch and shoots threes. I'm sure he did this but I would have also liked to see more exercises working his lower-back/abs/core. That where defense fundamentals come from, the core of the body. The video got me really pumped up! Especially the end when he said he's not living in the past of Linsanity but the future. I hope he releases another workout video before the start of the season.
Jlin, don't stop inspiring us. i am keeping the faith till the end
can't wait for the season to start!
So....he is not going back to Spartan for training? Kind of disappointed because I heard they are very good, but hey, he still works very hard.
Who are those people he is working with? Just the rox staff?!
Gatorade Sports Science Institute is only in IL and FL. It looks to me like he was just getting evaluation/benchmarking tests done there. The second half of the video (where he was doing weights and workouts) looked like it was at the Rockets' gym.My guess is he went to GSSI for a couple days to get the evaluation tests. Then they give him recommendations for training exercises and nutrition. He can do the training wherever, SPARTA, Houston, etc. Then go back to GSSI to get periodically.http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/story/_/id/7188674/dwyane-wade-miami-heat-seeks-edge-via-full-battery-tests-gatorade-labhttp://www.wired.com/playbook/2012/01/gatorade-sports-science-institute/
U r right.. He showed a pic of himself getting that eval shortly after the season ended..I guess he doesn't need feel the need to go with one of those basketball training institute/programs like Bev is doing?
Description says it is from GSSI, Rox gym and his home. Just complied together.
Are there any elite basketball training sports institute anyways? Maybe it just isn't worth it.Bev works with this Accelerate Basketball Performance Training in SC.Is this type if yhinhonly for d league or college players? But we agree that Lin could use a better shooting coach.

michael johnson's center is here. did lin ever go to michael johnson's training center? it's in texas, so maybe being closer to it would be beneficial.it's possible that lin would get much better running advice from there compared to spartan. spartan seems to mostly work with pro baseball players who use mostly anaerobic movements.
Eyes on the prize and you will leave with no regrets, JLin!
It reminds me of last year's. I hope he comes out swinging this year. He doesn't deserve the treatment he got last year. If he is going to fail, fail on his own terms. That I can live with.
He gotta have the MINUTES and the BALL first.
Yup. I hope Lin doesn't just defer and thinks of himself more this year. He needs to play well right off the back to just dare them to bench or trade him. Very little room for error this year. Stakes are high.
He can always try to be more selfish even though that is not Linsanity brand of basketball so I'm more worried about the MINUTES. McHale can always take Lin out anytime he wants I'm sure McHale also have trained hard to ice Lin and won't let another 38 Spurs game happened again.
Lin gonna ball so ahrd next year. if Mcfail doesnt wanna sacrifice rockets chances of a Championship next season for his hatred of Lin, then Lin will be an Allstar :-)

Are u crying at this too..#hewhocrieswatchinglinvideoslikeafangirl ?
Yeah baby, I ain't afraid to say it's great to cry! But, not for this one else you'd miss it entirely; do like U do. This one needs some soul tying, and cryin' gets in the way.
Thought so. Knew I was right about you.
Wu Kong...those 500 years buried under a mountain did you good.
People don't like you and your success and wants to kill you or at least ruin your career therefor you will not reach the success you're capable of and people will remember you for your failure and not your successLet them anyway?
Rikki M, the point is you cannot control other people's thoughts or actions only your own.
Pop Doggy, I try to be a good little monkey it is very difficult to be always good. the mountain was a difficult lesson for sure. ;-)
Wu Kong, people can control other people's action. People have been using persuasion, negotiation, deception, or intimidation to get what they want since forever. Always have always will everywhere around the world. Isn't that exactly what Morey and McHale did to Lin?
Rikki M, So do you let others decide what you will do? How you respond? Or do you decide to do your best no matter what others think? The above poem is pleading with you to do what you know is right and just and honorable and do it to the best of your ability no matter what others think or say of you. The poem in no way asks for a person to take injustice laying down. In fact the poem is a war cry for action to continue to strive to be the best you can be even under adverse conditions. This video certainly shows that JLin is not simply sitting back and taking last years situation as is. He is working to be the best he can be. Injustice and evil are real. Do you let them beat you or do you step up to the plate and be the best you can be inspite of it? I choose to fight. I believe JLin does to.
Pdpatt: @jlin7 all bricks or air ballsLol..
Patrick Patterson's comment on Lin's Instagram photo of Lin clones taking shots. I'm sure it's a joke.... Something someone on this site can't seem to appreciate. #hecrieslikeabitatchatwatchinglintakeshots.
solidz. Ouch, got it. I'm ashamed of myself for letting Lin's sacrifice and determination, feeling his hardship and resolve wash over me, and I'll go to my room now. Maybe I'll grow up to be a man scared of my emotions so they can rule me. Any more orders, boss?
JT didn't u say u won't respond to my posts anymore? Why do u keep on baiting me? Read that nice post from mother Teresa and leave me alone.
I can leave you alone; I prefer to uphold the goodness in you.
There u go again - playing the moral authority. Stop baiting me. U r making me into a bigger asshole than I already am.
There U go again, playing the moral authority. U r what u r, Solidz, and I expect you know that.
Having trouble looking at instragram in the office, I will look at it when I get home.
Exactly JT, at least Im not a happygolucky, crybaby, POS fan girl like u. Don't forget that. Leave me alone unless getting bashed is your thing. I'm not as classy as Etane. I can play really dirty if I want to. Plus I'm talking about you, not to you.
How cn I be happygolucky if Im being threatened by u? I cn only cry. U def are unconnected to Etane or anyone else here. U r alone in your self-munificence, ur self-righteousness.
actually i thought solidz' "transformative suggestion" is pretty funny haha.
Daaam! White Knights to the rescue. Now I'm really gonna get it. You want to wear the daddy pants?Seriously, I'm just playing back. You win. Actually, this was a good day here, so let me peace out so I can reflect on all the good posts here: bball, scripture, Lin pushback signals, and wu kong's mountain meditation.
Great to see JLin with consistent form in his 3PT shooting. From my eye test, he seems to be mantain the same form in the 45pts ProAm game. He'll be unstoppable if he hits at 40% clip!I had a dream scenario that Lin got traded before the season started ala Harden last season and he averages 30+ pts for the first 5 games :DRegardless, the video is very inspirational!Check out these gems in Phil 3 very applicable to his current situation.2. Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh.13b.But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. The first one is definitely not what Lin intended but it's funny and figuratively true :D
His elbow still sticks out too much, but I guess he think he can repeat his shooting this way better.
It does flare out a bit and it can get inconsistent more easily. Hopefully it works well for him. What looks great is no more forward kicks like he did in the Taiwan streetball game last August. Brr! Those were turrible.
That's very true , psalm. :>For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
Hi guys,Im new here n this is my first post on this site. I'm a Lin fan, but I am concerned with his shooting form. Primarily, his elbow. Like Brent said, his elbow is pointing out too much. Does he have a shooting coach? Lin can't be consistent with this form because his shooting will never be from muscle memory with elbow not aligning with the rim. He would have to adjust his wrist and elbow everytime his shot is contested.
welcome, Joe!Yes, his less-than-perfect flared elbow has been discussed many times before. Lin has a shooting coach (Doc Scheppler) who helped him with Linsanity games in NY so I guess Lin sticks with him because he's a loyal guy. Many suggested Dave Hopla but I think Lin will stay with Doc because he was shooting quite well in the 2nd half of past season. Noone really knows if Lin would try a different shooting coach after next season if he still has inconsistency issue.
@chan c, Lin must have practiced that one since he got a great 'tude!
Look at my old comments in old posts. I wished time and time again long ago that Lin would power clean, clean and snatch, and now he is doing it! I'm sure he is doing heavy plyo work too. Bout damn time! He will be MUCH improved this year finishing around the basket because of what he's doing in the weight room even if his vertical doesn't seem any higher to the naked eye. I say it again - he will be MUCH improved. Look for him to even DUNK, yes DUNK, on people at times this season in half court sets. The parts Lin showed of what he is doing, working on faster handles, pounding the dribble, taking his dribble out of his comfort zone, working on his weaknesses, this bodes really well. The dribbling drills he shows on video still don't show him working on any dribbling that's overly difficult or pushing his speed on the dribble moves, but I'm sure he is pushing himself. He'll never have a flashy or wicked handle, but it's getting better. He has also increased his dead lift in addition to doing power lifts. He will have better body control and explosion, things that will make him much better and stronger on the court. His nervous system will be improved from doing these lifts and it will be less likely a bump to the shoulder will take him out of the playoffs like last season. The "Dwight Effect allows Lin to Shine" articles are gonna come this season when Lin comes to take heads. It's really all gonna be Lin himself, but the media will find a way to credit anyone but Lin. I truly feel Lin is going to push so hard to establish himself this season and explode to start the season that James Harden will be fearing that his alpha dog guard role is still in tact by time the All Star Game rolls around. Either that or the Rockets will be able to move Lin as other teams will finally want him on their roster. Win win for Lin.We Lin fans needed this video...
And swing, his entourage is being crisp on the messaging. Much more powerful than the wannabe tweet (you know who on the Rox). "Bring it on, trade or not!"
Thanks for the insight on the weightlifting benefit, @swing! Let's hope he will improve in all area. Perhaps he'll even practice secret moves not shown in the video to finish around the rim. You're right that he needs to improve to either star in Houston or be traded.
honestly i am not liking what i am seeing. his shots and moves are too smooth. mchell is going to think jeremy's not playing with energy.
and makes me wonder how accurate he will be when he picks up the tempo on his shots.
Jeremy will go as far as this team will let him. Since that is not going to be very far on mchale's watch, he will just need to make best of the limited time he will get. That or a season ending injury for harden.
Yo, Etane - reframe :-) ... I see it as messaging only. Yeah, what's the big deal with wide open 3s, but it's way better than a bunch of summer tweets. I hope behind the scenes they are fouling the crap out of him with those padded batons when he's shooting on the move. Yeah, secret practice moves ...
it's a sexy message with the mic picking up on his deep exhales. (oh crap...)
yes, it's about image and intimidation tactic, Etane. If his counterparts watch the video of Lin driving to the basket smoothly, then most of them will buy it that he's just too fast.If they watch him getting clobbered over and over again, then they feel empowered to clobber him in the real games :DGood thing they didn't show him eating in In-N-Out lol
Lin is not a spot up shooter. He can become one, but that is not what he is nor what he wants to be right now at his age and with his ability. He IS an attacking guard who can shoot well when he is in the flow of the offense. Whereas before he got stuck in the paint too often, his improved athleticism will allow him to finish better, take contact and finish, maintain better body control, and finish under duress or have the strength to try and dunk on people with contact even if he jumps only 1 extra inch higher from all the weight work.By improving his athleticism, Lin will reduce those jump in the air bail out floating passes because he will now try to finish those plays more regardless who is in the paint. Lin will go attack to score more often and that will create passing opportunities for wide open dunks to his big men, that's what he is...he is indeed an attacking guard who shoots well from distance when involved in the game.Trust me, he will be better this season. And I'm sure the guy is working on his shot big time as well.
Well, my search engine gives me this and this for "secret practice moves" No heavy breathing yet.
Swing but i thought lin was supposed to work on his weaknesses. To me his weaknesses are catch and shoot and positioning off ball. In that video, I did see one rather meek and slow catch and shoot. But, yes, i agree with what you said that lin is best when he's attacking but rockets don't play to lin's strengths.
Etane, I assume Lin is working on the weaknesses. I doubt he is ignoring his catch and shoot game. I think Lin is focusing more on overall game domination rather than spot up shooting domination. Still Lin is not going to settle. He is busting his ass to break out, not just to practice becoming a perfect role player. I think this guy is going to cause the Rockets a huge headache this season and the Rockets kind of know it's coming. If Lin is that good, they WILL implement Lin, they will have no choice. Morey is no idiot, I dislike him for other reasons. If Lin is clearly effective as heck, Morey and Les will force Mchale to use Lin even if Mchale doesn't want to. Truth be told, if Lin is that dominant and starts to challenge Harden, even Mchale will come around. People will look past race and everything else if the guy is clearly kicking ass on the court. If Lin can do that, they will even consider shipping out Harden for a PF superstar or small forward and keep Lin. But Lin has a LONG LONG way to go before anyone would even dare contemplate that. Lin would have to be a Rocket the entire year, make the ASG on merit, while Harden doesn't make it and Lin literally wrests control of the lead guard role. I don't think Lin thinks of competing against Harden as his challenge per se, but I don't think Lin is going to allow himself to be a statue waiting for open 3's that come once in 10 possessions only to be subbed out. I think he is going to force his way this season and worry less about what Mchale or anyone else thinks or says to him.
Lin needs to learn how to play with Dwight Howard in the post. Practice entry passes, moving without the ball, and spot up shooting. If he can master these things, and does them better than Harden, Beverly, or Parsons. McHale will have no choice but to keep Lin in the lineup and go with the 2-man game, Dwight on the inside, Lin on the outside.
I think the Rockets are desperate to dump Lin and Asik. They are just biding their time and the right deal to come along. I think Lin and his camp know this. I am very excited to see Lin doing dynamic weight lifting. This tells you Lin is focused on being a dynamic explosive player. His drills tell you the same. I think you guys underestimate the effect that training will have on the season and where his mindset is. He is training to be a stud who can go to the hole and finish and drive like never before. A player trains like that to dominate games, not to be a role player next to stars. I like this mentality. He's training to be great and while it may backfire, this is why I personally follow Lin. He's going for broke, his way. He's going to go play to dominate and I wouldn't count against him even if the odds are stacked against him.
CNM: Jeremy Lin - Reloaded - Video Review and Reaction
thx as always, via :) This brother is a bit too loud for me, I can barely understand what he's yelling about. I prefer PV Dee-jay voice haha.
CNM: PFV's Analysis of The "Jeremy Lin - Reloaded" Video
thx via! Good insightful analysis on the well-done video to project Lin's hard work. He's right, I haven't seen much negative feedback everywhere.
you missed my feedback. = P jk
Remember how people were saying Jeremy isn't training hard enough? He's training like a mad man. Some of that stuff scared me a little, ha (e.g. where he's running with the Star Wars-like "respirator" mask on).
I think he did the same last yr (lighter load of course, because of the injury).
This looks even more intense -- it's not at Sparta but Gatorade Sports. Either way, like you said, the injury prevented heavier training. Won't be a problem this year!
Hes running on a treadmill and exercise bike really really fast. How about an entire afternoon of full court 1 on 1 with Beverly. Rinse repeat next afternoon. This made a mighty point forward out of Grant Hill. Instead when the swarm comes and the mean ball hawker is mean to Lin he flusters and dribbles the ball off his foot or throws the ball off of somebody elses foot.
Armour, your wishful thinking of Lin failing just doesn't fly in the real world NBA where Lin is a STAR. It must be awfully frustrating for Lin to be proving you wrong night after night.
To Chris Paul, who basically told the Clippers that after they squashed the first incarnation of their Doc Rivers trade. Chris didn't like that. He let them know he was heading to Houston to team up with Dwight. And he wasn't kidding.
Via is that a recent quote? i am confused. I thought Paul was staying with the Clips. If Lin gets traded, I would love to see Paul and Harden duke it out. They are both ball hogs and McFool would have to choose who holds the rock most of the time and between Harden and Paul, McFool ain't gonna choose Harden and his 9 turn overs a game. I can just see the new Bleacher Report headline,"The Beard relegated to the Bench! "Maybe it is time he got a taste of his own medicine.
Ah so that's what happened...Chris Paul used Houston as fake leverage and the stupid Rockets thought he was serious haha. I wonder if the Houston trade attempts involving Lin were predicated off trying to get or prepare for CP3 or independent of that. Seems like though the Rox tried to move Lin even long after Doc signed up with the Clips...interesting...
Got it. For some reason I couldn't open the link before but I just read the article. So Paul got what he wanted and is a Clipper once again. I wonder if someday Lin wields the same power as Paul, If Jeremy would ever make diva demands and threats to assert control over the team. He seems too humble for that. There needs to be a happy medium, though. Too much humility causes people to take advantage.
Even though CP3 is the best PG in the league -- perhaps the only truly complete PG -- the fact that he's had so little playoff success just goes to show you can't have just one quality ballhandler. Elite defenses/coaches can shut down any one player...that's why you need a Scottie to a Jordan, a Wade to a Lebron, a Manu to Parker (and Duncan can pass out of the high and low-post as well). That's why I was initially happy to see Harden join Jeremy. I just didn't anticipate him being such a ballhog -- or Jeremy's knee recovering so slowly (and therefore unable to assert himself). This season? It needs to be Isiah & Dumars...not Kobe and Derek Fisher.
Cp3 is a diva not unlike d12. It's just that d12 played his cards wrong and gets all the negative publicity. Cp3 seems to get a free pass though.
One reason Clippers offense lagged in playoffs bc they had a limited playbook and resorted to simple isolations, which is predictable and easier to gameplan for in postseason. I don't think you can pin it on CP3. They should be better with their improved perimeter shooting and anything-is-better coaching situation.
Random not-so-serious thoughts:I've always wondered why the Rockets practice gym is so small. The walls are right up to the boundary lines. I wonder how many times players have crashed into the walls? I know they're padded, but still. Can't they afford a slightly bigger gym?Looks like the gym at the end was Lin's middle school, Stanford Middle School Panthers. He's training in a middle school? I wouldn't trust the rim setup of a middle school. What if the height, angle, bounciness of the rim is a tiny bit off? If I were an NBA player, I wouldn't practice shooting on anything but an official NBA basket. That was a cool composite shot at the end, how did they do it? I suppose you have a video camera on a tripod and use software to automatically merge it. But the real question is why he was wearing different clothes? Did it take that many days to get footage of him making baskets? (kidding... =)
Maybe they put Jeremy in the second unit gym, Harden, Howard, Parsons and Bev are in the star gym next door. ha ha just kidding :(

wu kong = goku?are u a super saiyan?
The real goku is here...on the sidelines waiting for the new season to start. :) But, love Lin's new video. I think it is going to be a fun, fun upcoming season. :)
i hope so. i stopped watching the games towards the end of the last season. wasting an entire evening watching lin on the bench or standing in the corner...
WOW! that is impressive! he's sweating and his arms were shaking.that looks a lot better than spartan training.i hope they check his bodyfat percentage and vo2 max, so that he can work on not getting tired late in the season.
Photo of JLin and brother looking good! http://instagram.com/p/caeXUBQ3-A/
Nathan Walker @bbstats 1hLast season, the Rockets only had one player in their top-8 rotation with less than 50% eFG (Lin). @HPbasketball @dmorey@dmorey.@JLin7 passes led 2very high eFG RT @bbstats Last season, Rockets only had 1player in top8 with less than 50% eFG (Lin)Someone please explain these tweets. Thanks.
The StateFG% stands for Effective Field Goal Percentage. The statistic accounts for the fact that a three-point field goal is worth more than a two-point field goal, as described by basketball-reference. The formula is (FGM + 0.5 * 3PM) / FGA.Sounds like the first tweet is knocking Lin and Morey is trying to defend Lin.
It means JLin set his teammates up very well.
eFG% = FG% adjusted for 3pt shots. Hitting 33% of your 3s is the same as hitting 50% of your 2s because it's still 1 point-per-shot.Even though Jeremy was the only rotation player with an under 50% eFG, he's also a major reason everyone else exceeded 50%. He creates the best kind of assists -- dunks, layups and open 3s -- instead of the typical Rondo/Vaquez assist of long and/or contested 2pt jumpers. And that's not to mention how many assists Jeremy was robbed of thanks to Asik fumbled catches, missed layups and getting fouled (as he often hesitates and is also a poor FT shooter). Also, his knee recovery really hampered his jumper for the first two months as the stats clearly show.
Duh of course Lin's passes are all high quality. Almost 70+% of Lin's passes I observed last season were like bunch of juicy bacon on silver platter. So the real question is... why the hell you don't utilize that?
Crappy scorekeeping was also an issue. Someone posted that article a couple weeks ago about what a joke NBA scorekeeping is, and yeah, Jeremy -- along with many other "unproven" players -- is a major victim of that.
that pretty much confirms what i was thinking about when morey said lin was in the top 5 in pick-n-rolls. the points per play stat here only recognized his offense but not the passing ability of lin, so he was only ranked in the 76th percentile. jane lin was asking about that.http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/playoffs/2013/04/19/synergy-sports-postseason-first-round-analysis/2097315/"Lin actually has the advantage here as his pick-and-roll offense ranks in the 76th percentile in the NBA (.849 PPP)."
Parsons was highest in the team with 56.4 (10th in the league). Jeremy 48.5 (94)Harden 50.1 (68)Some notable names d Jordan with 63.5(1), LBJ 58.6 (3), d12 58.1 (5), Omer asik 54.1 (21) , cp3 53 (33), Conley 48.4 (95)
That's what his real PnR genius is: hitting the roll man...which is why Dwight is such a big addition. Instead of the worst roll man among starting centers (Asik), he now gets the absolute best among all bigs.Harden excels in the PnR...by keeping it himself (lol). Hey, you need both guys! It just needs to be more egalitarian in the future.
I am sure there are advanced stats that are specific for each position and for the specific requests by the coach. If the coach wants you to be a pass first PG then you will get the short end of the stick in this stat... but you are doing what the coach requests and doing whatever that coach requests at a high %. These are the things we are not ever going to really know... What is the coach asking of a particular player and is that player delivering. Simple stats don't tell us these things. I imagine it would be difficult to find players willing to take knock to their personal stats for very long. Jlin is an exception.
@flying_beagles@dmorey @JLin7 @bbstats @HPbasketball simple, if we took out Oct/Nov recovery months, Lin eFG rose to 50.67%. Close to Harden eFG (50.4%)Just check out the monthly eFG% trend and you can see that Nov's 40.8% was an anomaly.Month eFGNovember 0.4084December 0.5287January 0.4710February 0.4923March 0.5390April 0.504
It is not anomaly, psalm. The Rockets want Lin to tone it down by A LOT after the first 2 games. "Woah woah there hold yer horses. James Harden and Jeremy Lin GOAT back court after 2 games? It suppose to be only James Harden! Quick, ice that chink!"
You're right, Rikki. There was one pic of Jeremy together with Harden on NBA website after a very good game but, for unknown reasons, it was taken down shortly later, and Harden's bearded face was put up there instead. Somebody posted here about the pic removed and replaced by Harden's pic, I did notice it too. There is no coincidence that Jeremy isn't featured on the Rox website, season tix promo, not involved in Howard's pitching. I couldn't think of better reasons to explain for Jeremy's situation with the Rox since last season. It seems to me trading him to another team would ultimately make everybody(the Rox, Rox fans, media) happy although very well thoughtout analysis suggest otherwise that with Jeremy remains the starting PG, his excellent playmaking, improving eFG and unselfish brand of bball, would make the Rox a true championship contenders.
Thank you so much for taking the trouble to reply to me twice, @lin2improve. 76th percentile isn't very impressive but if we consider all that's discussed above, then the end results completely shift and they clearly demonstrate that Jeremy is indeed an elite PnR player.
Rikki, it was actually both Jeremy's struggle due to his knee recovery and Morey/McHale desire to test drive Harden's All-Star potential (much more on the latter).Although Jeremy struggled to finish layups due to his knee in Nov, he was still more than capable to be the floor general but Harden's ego was given 100% free reign by McHale.A good coach would leverage the strength of his players. Once Lin recovered, McHale should have built on Lin's strength as a playmaker by staggering him and Harden in minutes. But it's so frustrating to watch McHale trying to change Lin to be Derek Fisher-type of PG, forcing him to be off-the-ball.The NBA stats watcher also just looked at average stats without looking at the trend to see that Lin played much better after he fully recovered.
Learn to play of the ball then, for example, Tony Parker can torture opposing PG without the ball. He just ran tru screen after screen....
Psalm, I've said since last season that I didn't buy/believe the knee injury recovery whatever at all. The first 2 games were just fine and then Lin scored 38 against Spurs is when I truly dismissed the knee injury thing.
Rikki, Lin himself actually mentioned that in Oct 12 2012, “My speed and my explosiveness and my agility (are not) there yet,” Lin said the other day.“I’m still trying to recover from knee surgery and get to where I was pre-surgery,’’ Lin said. And the 38pt Spurs game happened in Dec 12 so he has recovered in Dec.
Rikki I think it plays a large role to his play both mentally and physically. Like psalm's quote, he obviously feels more comfortable after Dec.
Dragic 49.1 (82), Kobe 50.4 (63), Paul George 49.1 (81)
hey via, I was talking about hoping we will see what he was doing for training. Today, this video pops up, did you worked something out with JLin?
i told him Brent was getting impatient.
Then you need to tell him that everyday! lol
BTW, the fact that Brandon Jennings' new contract is less than Jeremy's -- and people still stay he's overpaid -- makes me feel a little better about J-Lin constantly being dissed. The average talking head would probably place Jennings way above Jeremy...and yet they have similar contracts (Jeremy gets a tiny bit more).
I think 8mil for Jennings is way too much
Casual NBA viewers look at total points instead of total shot attempts, hence think Jennings can ball.
That composite shot was awesome! Thanks , via! :>
yw, chan c ^^
replication jutsu.some shots of training.two more.
This kid is unwavering. His steadfastness is inspiring. Here's to a great season , no matter what and wherever he ends up! Cheers!!! :)
Jeremy Lin is Clearly More Valuable to Rockets than Patrick BeverleyJeremy Lin’s overzealous critics enjoy harping on the amount of undeserved praise he has gotten to date, but they tend to ignore their own culpability in making the 24-year-old such a polarizing figure.Let’s start off by pointing out the obvious: Yes, Beverley is a better fit for next year’s Houston Rockets starting lineup than Lin. No, that doesn’t make him the better player. The two things are in no way intertwined. The reason why Beverley is a better fit for Houston’s starting lineup, in light of Dwight Howard coming on board, is because he is a plug-in player. You plug him into the starting five, let him hustle on defense and then ask him to stand on the outside and wait for an inevitable drive-and-dish on offense. Unlike Lin, he doesn’t need the ball because of a.) who he is, b.) the amount of money he makes and c.) his skills. That last bit is important – the guy wouldn’t know what to do with the ball even if you gave it to him more frequently. None of that makes him a better player, though. If you compare Lin’s numbers to Beverley’s numbers, you get a pretty clear picture regarding who is better.Lin averaged 13.4 points, 6.1 assists and 2.9 turnovers in 32 minutes per game last year. Beverley averaged 5.6 points, 2.9 assists and 1.1 turnovers in 17 minutes per game last year.Because of the minutes/games disparity between these two, merely comparing Lin’s regular season totals with Beverley’s is unfair. So let’s compare Lin’s regular season totals with Beverley’s playoff totals.Lin Regular Season Averages: 13.4 points, 6.1 assists and 2.9 turnovers in 32 minutes per gameBeverley’s Playoff Averages: 11.8 points, 2.8 assists and 1 turnover in 33 minutes per game. And it goes without saying that Beverley’s stat sheet doesn’t note his most important contribution to the 2012-13 Rockets – injuring Russell Westbrook in the most ridiculous way imaginable.Based on the numbers -- and 36 minute totals from the regular season shouldn’t be used here because it’s impossible to extrapolate anything legitimate from them in this particular case -- it’s clear that no matter how you cut it, Lin is the better player. He may not be the ideal fit to play beside Harden, but even though he was playing out of position (not literally, but based on the gameplan) and was continuously forced out of his comfort zone on offense, he still put up consistently better numbers than Beverley.Fit is important. Chemistry is vital to a team’s success. Nobody is denying either of those things. Similarly, nobody is disputing that, based on the fact that the Rockets need to run their offense through Harden, Beverley is the wiser choice for the starting lineup – but none of that should be misconstrued as anything other than what it is. It’s a scenario which makes Beverley the more natural piece given the makeup of a particular roster, not a better overall player than Lin.The Rockets could replace Beverley fairly easily. The same can't be said for replacing Lin.
any article that compares players by using PER GAME stats is straight silly - can't even begin to take that seriously.
any article that compares players by using PER GAME stats is straight silly - can't even begin to take that seriously. You can compare players using per-game stats, as long as you use them or interpret in the right context. (I'm not saying this article is using in the right context, just saying that it can be valid to use per-game stats.)It can be useful to adjust/normalize for per-minute, pace, usage, possession, etc. But those factors are not linear either. For example, if a player's minutes/usage/pace doubles, doesn't automatically mean their stats will double, it may very well drop off.Bottom line is that all metrics have their pros and cons. Per-Game is not automatically useless, and there is no Metric "XYZ" that is always superior. You just have to understand the context of a stat.
real-dsb, not in disagreement with u, just wanna ask. To you, what does PER tells?
If only I have Stewie's multiverse remote. I would love to check out a universe where Morey, McHale, Harden, and Parsons are being harassed and unfairly treated by Lin and sports media, that would be funny as hell.
The video of JEREMY LIN RELOADED was really nice ! But I still LOVE LINSANITY ! even though he said it's already in the past. Thanks a lot to all LIN fans who reply & answer my questions. I think next time I will have to write down all JLIN fans here.I'm just glad BTV channel replay ROCKETS vs SPURS last DEC. 10, 2012. I wasn't able to watch that last year. Another ROCKETS game that was shown vs PORTLAND last nov. 16. but each quarter was edited so I didn't enjoy watching that much besides . ... too bad ROCKETS lost on both games ! when will they replay winning games of ROCKETS !? ( LOL )
Just FYI if you want to watch that final flurry of shots repeatedly. Press number 9 and it will jump to that spot.
[HP] The Dirty Dozen: 12 of the best offensive players in the NBA
HEY LOOKY LOOK HERE! GSmith is on the list but the credit goes to James Harden! Surely CAN'T get any better than this, right?USAUSAUSA'MURICA!
WOW ! JLIN's RELOADED already reached more than 172,139+ no. of views in just 1 day ! With regards to the ROCKETS not using LIN on their market anymore, I hope the sponsors the ROCKETS has after LIN became a ROCKET player will back out if ever he will be traded..
Red & Calvin Murphy on Roundball: Dexterity/DribblingCalvin Murphy shows you that baton twirling will improve your dribbling.Amazing! Now who wants to see Lin do some baton twirling to improve his ball-handling skill?
He needs it, he got beaten on the ground to many times....need to get back up like a Ninja!!! lol jk
Lin should twirl a bo staff instead?
lightbulb! it would be awesome if Lin dresses up like a Ninja while dribbling the ball AND twirling a nunchuk/baton in his next video.Ryan Higa should be able to help! :]
then people might mistake lin for bev.

Terrence Jones Arrested After Allegedly 'Stomping' on Homeless Man
Terrence seems to be a promising player. I remember when Jeremy texted him & told his teammates to text Terrence as well to give him encouragement while he was in D-League. Jeremy also mentions him at mini training camp in LA a few weeks ago. I think JLIN likes Terrence as a player. thanks for the news.
That is crazy, even if he was drunk. Don't know what could have possessed him to do something that awful. Terrence seemed like a nice guy, too.I'd like to see Jones make up for his crime by getting the homeless back on his feet. Maybe pay a year's rent for a decent apartment, buy him some clean clothes and get him a job somewhere, even if it something low-paying like stocking shelves.
Houston Rockets Trade Rumors: Omer Asik Deal To Pelicans For Ryan Anderson Helps Both Teams If New Orleans Loses Greg Oden To Miami Heat
"The Pelicans have a glut of guard players with Holiday and Eric Gordon and he could be involved in a deal as well." Can it happen? Morey gets rid of Asik and Lin together? How do the numbers match up?
Hm, NBA Trade Machine approves the salary numbers on Asik/Anderson trade straight up or with Lin/Jrue.But Pelican really liked Jrue giving him 4 year deal so Lin might not get moved.
I don see it, I mean Holiday for Lin and Asik for Anderson are not really upgrades.
Pelican needs a Center so that's why they're pursuing Oden. Asik for Anderson would meet their needs. And Houston likes their stretch PF.I also don't see Lin gets traded to Pelican at all. Jrue is their future piece with ADavis.
You get Anderson over Asik, you throw your team defense away...lol. I think Morey knows that.
Go to Pelicans! I made the prediction that Lin will go to Pelicans a a few weeks back! (although it was a complete joke at the time).
Anderson is no shotblocker for sure but the article made a good point that Asik might be a disgruntled presence in the locker room playing behind Howard. But yeah, Morey knows Asik is worth more than his contract so they'll try to keep him happy.
I think they'll go to the deadline with Asik on the team. Both the Rockets and Pelicans want to "see what they got" before making more big moves. As for Jeremy, he's in a weird situation. If he plays great and meshes with Dwight, he's going to stay. If he plays poorly, he's also going to stay (no trade value). But if he's merely solid in his Derek Fisher role (e.g. same as 2nd half of last year), and Beverly "impresses," then I think he's going to be traded to a desperate team like Philly or Utah.
Since I know Jeremy won't do poorly -- at worst he'll play like he did in the 2nd half (15/6, good shooting %s) -- I'll be okay whether he stays or goes.
zxcvb,It would be absolutely phenomenal if Lin stats would be 15/6 with a good shooting percentage next season. Unfortunately it is unlikely. I'm sure Lin will improve with the time he is given but there is a good chance his stats will go down due to less time on the court and also less time with the ball. Dwight, Harden, Parsons will get the majority of the shots, and at best Lin will probably be the 4th offensive option. There are only a specific amount of possessions and shots per game. In addition, with Dwight on board I think the pace will slow down so there will be already less shots for the team in general. I think his shooting percentage will increase across the board, but his other stats will go down due to the reasons mentioned above. That doesn't mean he won't improve, he will be a better player but the stats may not show it. Of course, I do hope you are right in your stat prediction.
You're right that the actual numbers 15/6 are probably unlikely, but I'm mostly talking about the LEVEL of quality he displayed (i.e. even basic stats show that he played well). Also, with Dwight in place of Asik, he could have a lot more assists. Maybe it won't be 1/56. Maybe it'll be 14/8. Or 13/9. Or maybe McHale finally staggers his minutes with Harden, so he gets to handle the ball more and puts up 16/6. But there's no doubt his stats will improve his Dwight and full health -- even with a slightly slower pace.
The more I think about it, I'm amazed he put up even 6.1 apg last season. I know the Rockets play fast, but Jeremy had a weak knee, no post threats, crappy finishers, and Harden playing all that hero ball.I predict Jeremy puts up either 14/8 or 16/6 this year, depending on how his minutes are staggered with Harden's.
zxcvb,I agree with you that 6.1 apg is good. Here is hoping for a great season from Lin!
Wow. Jlin is very strong. 105 lbs individual dumbells. Impressive. Never seen anyone at the gym using ones that heavy.
That's why I want to see him post-up other, smaller PGs (which is almost everyone). He's done it before, but not enough. He should watch some Andre Miller game tape!
Exactly, lets see something different. how about a left hand/left side only session. He is already strong enough and never takes advantage of his size so this is pointless.
" He is already strong enough and never takes advantage of his size so this is pointless. "I did see Lin post up Nate once. Haha.
I sound like a broken record but McHale doesn't want Lin posting up. He wants his "motion offense" aka pass the ball around pointlessly. A good coach would exploit the matchup and have Lin post up whenever a small guard is on him.
It's finally august ! I can't wait for Jeremy to visit Taiwan ! Can't wait for his promotions there. Whether he will bring someone with him to tag along. Maybe he will do some fishing again. WOW ! JEREMY'S RELOADED already reached 300,000 + views !
he should train rather than do tours
Or at least visit a different country besides Taiwan. He's been there, done that, they already love him OK. What about the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Australia, mainland China ? All have large ethnic Chinese populations.
JLin fishing meme
Rockets Vs. OKC top 10 games of season (number #7)Video very exciting. Lin ALL STAR level.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__H2VPw3lN0
Not feeling it. It looks exactly like last years training vid. Why can't he just stay here in the states and play against elite talent. Taiwan tours, high school drills, religious quotes, charity pickup games and horse shots? Its like he surrounds himself around people that won't be mean to him. Russell Westbrooks ugly mug should be cemented in his brain and other swarming, hungry defenders. Pastor snoopy just doesn't get it.
There is a leaguewide and fanwide MISPERCEPTION that Lin is mentally and physically weak, as summed up by Armour's post. Lin's having a good productive offseason playing amongst elite players like Dwight Howard. Other players have offseasons just like Lin's.
Jeremy actually missed the red light below!http://31.media.tumblr.com/f7e762df492ba7dcc037b6dffef6f837/tumblr_mqsfr0tsFA1rtnwmvo1_400.gif
The NBA Central (@TheNBACentral)7/31/13, 22:22Jeremy Lin's average speed in a 25 yard dash is faster than Derrick Rose, John Wall & Kyrie Irving.
so this still emphasize that Lin has a really quick first step? or that he's super fast?
@ the airport
Jeremy Lin is going to be ready for preseason. I'm pretty sure he's training extremely hard for the upcoming season. Now that Lin has played through the entire NBA, he has a much better idea of what to expect than he did last year. I suspect that Lin's going to be focused on efficiency this year.
