“@_Call_Me_Chen_: @ChandlerParsons is my boy @JLin7 stayin in H town” not sure, @JLin7 u in Houston?

Jeremy is clearly being shopped or his agent is trying to get him out, but I also think the Rockets are trying to package him with Asik. The workout in LA will be telling. I think Lin is still in the Bay Area workout at Stanford and probably Sparta, so he could easily fly to LA if he was invited.

    1. I don't doubt that he's being shopped, but that tweet's just a a joke. In fact, it sounds like he might be in LA with Parsons right now -- hence the "u in houston?" quip.

    2. Chandler was recently in Orlando, and Dwight's Press conference and rally will be tomorrow in Houston.

    3. Oh that's right. The LA mini-camp is after that.

Still, it's definitely a joke tweet. Parsons wouldn't speculate on that in public seriously.

    4. I don't think it's a joke tweet nor speculation. It was a simple response to a fan question. Saying not sure just means he doesn't know. That's not really speculation.

    1. Semi-related news:

      - Monta Ellis signing with Mavs. Hawks haven't matched Teague's offer sheet.

      - ATL still has no starting PG. They could go for Jennings, who's more expensive and not being resigned by his own team, or trade for Lin.

      - Jennings would be a better fit in LAL -- it's where he wants to go anyway. And the Lakers could use the excitement of a talented, athletic young player (albeit inefficient and not a true star).

      Delete
  3. So monta signs with mavs. Teague is all but gone in ATL

Jennings or Lin to ATL. Lin is cheaper. Lin will be a hawk.

Any prob with this possibility tweeps?

    1. Nope. Jennings fits better for the Lakers, anyway.

    2. So....formality wise, for Lin go to ATL, what are needed to happen? A trade? A...something else? I mean Lin is not going just to walk into ATL's locker room and become a Hawks..

    3. Teague to Milwaukee, Lin to Atlanta, Jennings to Houston!

    4. Jennings is asking more than 10Mils per yr. Will Rox take him?

      Delete
    5. According to Morey: 10 million and over = SUPERSTAR !!!

Just give him the ball so he can score more points at the expense of everyone else on the team.

      Delete
    6. Jennings is Harden's buddy. He might be the 3rd star that the Rox is talking about?

      Delete
    7. @Brent

The Hawks could trade Lou Williams for Jeremy.

Williams is exactly what Houston wants at PG. He's basically a 6-1 SG who's played some point but doesn't really belong there.

      Delete
    8. @zxcvb, I thought he is still coming out of an injury. Kind of a big risk for ROX. But again, Rox signed Lin knowing he was rehabbing as well.

      Delete
    9. Yeah, it's an ACL recovery...just like Jeremy. So I don't think it's a big deal at all. He's had plenty of time to recover and he's cheaper too (5M per).

      Delete
    10. Found this on Rotoworld:

      http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nba/210864/lou-williams-(acl)-targets-start-of-camp

Sounds like he's at where Jeremy was last July. Jogging, working out, but not full speed and hard cuts yet. Targeting training camp.

      Delete
    11. I just find it interesting that hawks decided to part ways with Teague. U know morey was talking to ferry about getting josh. This scenario could've certainly popped up in the talks.

Mo Williams is just too undersized. I dont know what trade asset hawks have to give morey, but if there is away for the rox to unload Lin, I think morey would take it at this point. He wants to trade sooner or later, and why keep a player he knows he will get rid of.

      Delete
    12. zxcvb,

Jeremy never had an ACL recovery or injury. Jeremy had a tear in his meniscus.

Don't know where Jeremy will end up, but what Chandler said has sealed the deal for me. He might not be traded during free agency, but he will be traded soon.

      Delete
    13. Well PB can start if Lou can not make the return b4 Oct. So..like Solidz75 said, Morey might just grab any chance he sees to dump Lin.

      Delete
    14. Solidz i really hope you're right. Jeremy in atlanta would be a great fit : a team where he is the ball handler and got the keys of the team, a new and young coach like buford who pop called his co-coach and who worked with tony parker and know what jeremy could do and most of all the man behind Linsanity, mr kenny atkinson... The one who really developed jeremy. If it happens, it would be great.

The more they will try to sink him the more he'll come stronger.

      Delete
    15. I forgot : if atlanta can land jeremy Lin AND kostas papanicolau they will be instant contender.

      Delete
    16. Oops, I am off my game today -- jlin fan is right.

Still, it's not a debilitating injury. He should be 100%.

And Lou Williams really would be the type of PG Houston wants. Lou Williams, George Hill, Gary Neal...that type.

      Delete
    17. You guys....NOBODY wants Jeremy Lin on their team, not even his own team Houston. All these hopeful trade scenarios above are laughable.

Stop dreaming because Lin is stuck in Houston. It's ironic, because yes, we are all correct that Houston wants Lin off its team now that they are "real contenders." But since this is Lin, he's an untradeable hyped Asian scrub to the rest of the NBA and it's so pervasive that he's now basically unmovable.

He will be totally stuck in Houston. Best case scenario? He lights up other teams in limited minutes next year. Worse case? He becomes a Darko and an expiring contract that's waived in yr 3 of his deal and then a bench scrub the rest of his career back in GSW or something like that.

I too would like for Lin to be traded to a better situation where he'll have to shoulder the load. But realistically, this just isn't going to happen. No team in the NBA is likely to ever give him this chance.

He's playing this year for his NBA life and he's either going to boom or bust.

      Delete
    18. Spotless brings up another good point.

ATL has Popovich disciple Budenholzer AND Jeremy's favorite NYK coach, Kenny Atkinson. Hmm...get it done, Morey. Everyone would be happy with Lin for Lou.

      Delete
    19. Many of you guys/gals on here must not be from the USA or even live in the USA. Lin has currently no value at all in the entire NBA. He will NOT be traded unless Morey is willing to take a LOSS in trading Lin. It will pretty much have to be via a salary dump, otherwise Lin will be a benched and maligned Rocket next season unless he proves once and for all he is legit.

I am a big Lin supporter and believe he will prove himself, but to think he has trade value and that people will trade for him for Ellis, Jennings, Teague is laughable. While I think Lin is better than them, nobody else in the NBA thinks like that so start living in reality.

      Delete
    20. zxcvb:

Everyone would be happy with Lin for Lou? Does that everybody include Dwight Howard, who would never get the ball - or at least never get the ball in good scoring circumstances - with a pair of shooting guards starting?

Because Lou Williams isn't a point guard. He is a shooting guard. If Lou Williams were a PG, he would be starting. Because he is a shooting guard, he was a 6th man for both Philadelphia and Atlanta. If Philadelphia and Atlanta never saw Williams as a starter, what makes you think that Houston does? And if Atlanta didn't use Williams to get the ball to their two very good big men in Al Horford and Josh Smith, what makes you think that Houston believes that he is going to get the ball to Howard?

Look, Howard has an exit clause in his contract that allows him to leave the Rockets in 2 years. If the Rockets try to pass off Lou Williams as their starting PG and Williams/Harden/Parsons as their starting backcourt (3 shooters, all of them terrible defenders, pretty much the same team makeup that failed Howard in Orlando with Nelson, Turkoglu and Lewis) he is absolutely guaranteed to execute it.

    21. 3 years from now jeremy will text to Dwight Howard to recruit him :

    22. @Spotless mind:

All right then. Find a news source FROM ATLANTA that indicates the slightest interest in Jeremy Lin. I live in Atlanta, read the papers and listen to talk radio every day and haven't seen any. The talk about trading Lin and Asik to Atlanta was all coming from the Rockets as an attempt to get Josh Smith. It was never reciprocated by the Hawks.

My hope is that Lin will break through all obstacles and do well this year in Houston, as he is an untradeable contract unless Morey has the balls to take a loss in moving him. It'll be the only way Lin moves and it should indicate to you how lowly he is thought of by all in the NBA.

I guarantee we will all be watching more of this Houston Rocket basketball misery starring J Lin in his 20 minute per game limited role.

  7. Seriously, enough with the Lin to Atlanta talk guys. That was all generated by the Rockets when they were trying to clear cap room to sign Josh Smith. There was never a bit of interest on Atlanta's part, and the possibility of Lin coming to Atlanta (which is where I live by the way) was never discussed in the local media: not the papers, TV stations, sports talk stations, blogs, nothing.

And trading Lin for Lou Williams? Please. Lou Williams is not a PG. He is a SG in a PG's body. He is also a liability on defense. Williams was a 6th man for the Sixers, is a 6th man for the Hawks, is not a starting PG on any team. Put Lou Williams in Houston and expect him to run an offense and get the ball to Howard, Harden, Parsons etc. and it would be a disaster.

The Hawks don't want Lin and the Rockets certainly don't want Williams back. So even if Lin is going to be traded, it won't be to Atlanta. The idea that the Rockets don't need a real PG because they have Harden went out when Dwight Howard was signed. Howard left the Lakers to get away with one ball hog in Kobe Bryant. Give Howard a Williams/Harden backcourt and the guy leaves Houston in 2 years (he has an option on his contract that allows him to do so). The Rockets know that they need a traditional PG to run an offense for Howard (and to get the ball out of Harden's hands so that Howard can get it), and even if Lin isn't the guy that they want, Lou Williams isn't either.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Atlanta maybe did not want Lin and Asik. Anyway it was houston who passed on smith just to extend Parsons (same Dwight howard's agent ndr). Atlanta are without a pg now but a great duo.in the paint. I think they would like jeremy... At least now that they in urgency ... Unless they want to let the team in hands of a 19 year old.

Houston will not use williams as starter but coming off the bench. So it'll be harden and beverly and williams and beverly... Anyway, who knows ?

      Delete
    2. "So it'll be harden and beverly and williams and beverly... Anyway, who knows?"

More like Harden and Beverly and Harden and Williams because Harden is better than Beverly and Williams combined. In any case, Beverly is not a starting PG either. So the Rockets would rotate 3 guys who can't run an offense, 2 of whom are shoot first scorers. I am not seeing how this makes the Rockets better or keeps Dwight Howard happy. Also, the Rockets know what they have in Lin and won't trade him for "who knows" when they can keep him and let him run their offense next season, as they know that Lin is fully capable of doing. They also are not going to trade a proven starter for a backup.

"At least now that they in urgency ... Unless they want to let the team in hands of a 19 year old."

If they were in urgency, they could have avoided that by simply re-signing Teague. Not only did they fail to do that, but they used the #17 pick in the draft to replace him. And they drafted a PG to replace him despite not having any viable starters - or even players for that matter - at SG and SF on their roster. So replacing Teague at PG was more important than finding bodies to field a starting 5 next season. And I don't blame them. Teague had his moments, but the Hawks feel that they can do better. Plus Teague doesn't fit their new coach's system anyway. They knew that they were going to lose Teague and it doesn't bother them a bit.

The Hawks can replace Teague with a free agent like Mo Williams. Williams isn't as good as Lin, but the point is to be able to sign him without having to give up the guy who is likely going to be #2 on the team in scoring (even if off the bench) in Williams. Had Williams not gotten injured, the Hawks might have made noise in the playoffs. Had Williams and their center Pachulia not been hurt at the same time, they definitely would have. Plus Lin is only on a 2 year deal. Is he going to stick around? Probably not as the Hawks already have a #1 pick to replace him waiting in the wings. But if he does stick around, what do they do with the kid that they just drafted? Flip him for a second rounder?

Look, it makes a ton of sense for Lin, which is why you want it to happen. But it makes no sense for the Rockets or the Hawks, which is why it won't.

    1. No it isn't. That isn't a column by a professional sports writer or analyst. That is Yahoo's feature where they publish opinions from fans. It is like their version of Bleacher Report, Fansided, Rant Sports or SBNation. So that guy is just another Rockets fan who is no different from those other guys that have been bashing Lin on Clutchfans.

That is why that column is from the Yahoo Contributer Network (which is how fan opinions get published on Yahoo). Look at the guy's bio: "M. De Moor is an NBA junkie and a graduate of Montclair State University. He has followed the Rockets from the championship days of Hakeem Olajuwon, to the of Francis and Mobley years, to the McGrady and Yao era, and will continue to follow them through Harden and Dwight's reign of destruction."

      Look at this guy's profile:

      http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/1757114/m_de_moor.html

Just a fan. Not a sportswriter. He isn't even an aspiring sportswriter or journalist. He is an aspiring screenwriter. He wants to go to Hollywood and write scripts for movies and TV shows, not cover the Rockets beat. So his ignorant opinions are his own.

      Delete
    2. This is the same guy that got kicked off of Bleacher Report when he wrote "5 Points Guards for Houston Not Named Jeremy Lin." He is a known hack who has no credibility. His articles have no substance and is one sided as heck.

      Delete
    3. Why does it matter who wrote it? Sure I was speaking with some exaggeration as some people like Jeff Van Gundy, probably at the Rocket's behest, recently said Lin is not a total scrub but an ok starter.

But generally speaking, that is pretty much how the majority of the NBA and it's fans think of Lin. Keep in mind, this "fan" who wrote the article is a Houston Rocket fan who apparently watches and keeps on top of all Houston Rocket games.

Lin is so worthless, the Lakers don't even want him in a sign and trade. They could have swung Asik in the S&T to another team for cap room but that's how little value Lin has around the league currently.

      Delete
    4. And why should it matter to you what other fans think of him? If you're a fan of Lin, then be a fan. As long as you're reasonable and rational about your fandom, it shouldn't be a problem. If things work out, then it works out. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. No point in wasting time thinking about how others think about someone and giving their opinions undue attention.

      Delete
    5. @ccm1. swinglinezigzag has to be a troll. Most trolls make up fiction (i.e. Lakers declining a S&T with Lin/Asik) to mask the reality of the situation. Lin is inconsistent and young. He just finished his first season as a starter. His P.E.R. was 14.94 for 2012-2013, which is basically the mathematical mark for an average player in the NBA. According to the Houston stats guru, Daryl Morey, he was the 3rd on win shares for last season. Lin is worth 25 million dollars, that's what the NBA market set for him. Was Bynum worth over 16 million last year to sit on the bench. This is the NBA, where production gets paid, as well as potential. Linsanity is Lin's potential, and there are GMs who will be willing to take a chance on that potential.

      Delete
    6. Lakers are preserving cap space to make a run at the free agents next summer. It's pretty clear as they just signed 1 year deals with Kaman, Young, and Farmar. Then cutting costs with MWP.

Getting both Asik and Lin does not help them with their plan to have as much cap space as possible next summer.

      Delete
    7. Seriously, not every article deserves any attention. It's written by Mike D. Moor, the Bleacher Report writer ... and it's directly copied from a Bleacher Report article. They just changed the title so Dwight Howard's name would be first.

    8. You guys have it wrong about swinglinezigzag.

He is a HUGE Lin fan, but he's also very pragmatic about how NBA front offices do not view Lin as an NBA player.

All he's doing is reminding everybody that Lin has that lovely contract that pays him millions of dollars and that no other team seems to want to pay Lin that kind of money at the moment. That's not flaming Lin, that's REALITY.

You guys can flame swinglinezigzag if you want, but then you're going to have to cope with the harsh reality of him being RIGHT.

    2. There is only one player that is not tradeable in the NBA, and that is Amare Stoudamire, and he might eventually be traded as an expiring contract. Lin's contract is only worth 8.3 mil the next two seasons, not an obscene number by any stretch. He may be considered overpaid by 1-3 mil, but not enough to make his contract toxic.

Even if the trolls are right, Houston can always attach one of the many assets they have w/ Lin (i.e. draft picks) to make it more digestible for a GM to take on a 24 year old who took the world by storm last year, and had a decent campaign for the 2012-2013 season.
