For those reading this forum for the first time, some interesting points that have been made...
1. Lin is a gunner who doesn't play like a gunner. 2. Lin is a dunker. 3. The Rox's NUMBER 1 PRIORITY this summer is getting another back up pg. 4. Minn needs to trade for another pg to play with Rubio. 5. Tyler Hansbeough is an elite player. 6. Lin is wrong when he himself points out the number 1 skill set of he needs to work on is his shooting. He is a gunner .... Who just doesn't shoot like one. 7. I'm a mutha fatha gentleman. 8. If u wanna prove your point, use caps as much as possible. 9. I will insult the hell out of u and then throw u an olive branch because I'm that kinda guy. 10. I'm sexy and I know it.
Yup, belee ir not, there is one person who is responsible for all these gems. So who is this? Trust me it won't take long to figure it out.
Although KHuang can be contrarian in his opinions or have a different gunner/racist definition, it might be better to discuss the issues rather than to attack him personally.
Let's agree and disagree on the issues only. I see many people can disagree with KHuang on his definition on racism and gunner issues without getting personal.
The fight just made it hard for many people to read good content in the forum so I'm sure many people would appreciate the discussion minus the fights.
Lin needs to improve and not play without confidence. McHale mindfucked him. He needs to get his swagger back and play more selfishly with the ball in his hands.
Technically he needs to play aggressively and selfishly with one ball in his hand. And use his other hand to fend guys from reaching in behind. So, we're talking about basketball right?
Lin needs to learn to protect and prevent others from handling them. I saw harden and definitely parsons trying to take that away from Lin this year. Sometimes even McHale made Liin lose them. Really, Lin without the balls is not the same Lin. He needs to feel them out and make sure they are well inflated.
Ambiguous Sentences Try #2: He needs to be aggressive and selfish so he can drive a ball in his hand to finish at the hole. He needs to use his off hand to defend guys from reaching in from behind.
Lin needs to grip that ball tightly and really feel it out .. The texture.. The little grooves... That new ball smell. He needs to feel it with the tip of his fingers and not the palm of his hand so he can appreciate how tight it is, if you will. He can bounce it off chandler's face if he tries to pry away from him or toss just softly off his forehead as a friendly gesture.
With his hands on the ball, he can pentrate hard into the hole and finish with an explosion.
Lin practiced shooting until his fingers bled last off-season and during the season. If your mechanics are good, it normally doesn't take nearly that number of reps to become a great shooter. I will be interested to see if he can practice so hard that he can become a great shooter with poor mechanics.
If your mechanics are sound, the only thing it takes is repetition. As Steve Nash said, "If everybody worked as hard as me I'd be without a job." Lots and lots of regular joes are great shooters, they just don't have the minimum level of athleticism to get shots off in the NBA. That's not Lin's problem.
Unfortunately, he insists on using his wrist as the joint to align with the basket whereas the elbow is stabilized by bigger bones and stronger muscles.
Well well what is troubling for me is.. If he worked that hard last season on his shooting and wasn't that consistent this year, can we expect him to improve next season.
It looks like you are advocating a total revamp if his shooting mechanics.. Which would be so hard to do.
I thought the reason he shot so poorly was because he didn't have the opportunity to work on it as much due to his injury. And perhaps he worked on other aspects of his game more because he wanted to be more playmaker setting people up than scoring.
Oh, lots of reasons, in my opinion. A couple that come to mind at the moment:
1. It's fairly easy to consistently make shots in practice with bad mechanics. The human mind is incredibly powerful. During a game, though, you don't have that same relaxed confidence. Only a handful of players have been able to shoot jump shots at an elite level with bad mechanics, players whose self-confidence was practically pathological. Normally, you need "high leverage" mechanics that put you in a position to succeed even if you aren't physiologically relaxed. Lin practices so much with such a good make rate that he doesn't realize it won't translate to games as well. He thought (thinks?) he was doing everything he needed to. When you're making 80% of your shots in practice, as his shooting coach claimed, and not seeing pay-off in the games, that should be a hint that practice is not the problem, your approach is.
2. His legs had not regained their explosiveness from pre-injury. That doesn't have much of an effect during shooting drills but makes game shots a lot harder, since you're far more tired and need far more athleticism to get open shots.
3. Adapting to new team, role, Harden, and coaching staff that doesn't think he's as good as his hype. That's a lot to have on your mind while trying to make jump shots.
As the last two reasons fell away, his shooting improved. There's still a ceiling due to point 1, though.
I don't think it needs to be revamped. He just needs to point his elbow at the target. It's not a completely new movement, just an adjustment. We're not talking a Tiger Woods reconstruction, shooting a basketball is way easier than driving a golf ball.
It might take a month or two to have it down pat. When I was experimenting with shot mechanics as a teenager, I could adjust things like that quickly. The biggest change was going from pushing the ball from my chest to shooting from my forehead: that took like 1 1/2 years, I think. I can teach proper mechanics to kids and they pick it up almost immediately.
There's another school of shot mechanics out there, where you flair your elbow like Lin does. But in that case, the coaches have you turn your body toward the basket, ensuring that the critical piece is maintained, elbow alignment with the basket. I like that method for girls but I don't like it for guys because it makes it impossible to shoot jumpers moving toward your weak side.
Well I do believe that his mental game/ lack of confidence has a lott to do with his poor shooting. But if you are right, then Doc is not the right coach for him. Doc said absolutely nothing about Lin's flawed form and his means to change it.
Again the einstein's definition of insanity comes to mind.
* "...makes it hard to shoot jumpers moving toward your strong side" I should have said.
If you're dribbling to the right and you're right-handed, for example, you have to twist all the way until the right half of your body is tilted toward the basket.
He shoots like a girl because he has a girl's coach teaching him. Perhaps it's time for Lin to move on from doc. If he practices that hard on his shooting last year and this was the result, something has to give.
It does appear to me that Lin doesn't turn his body enough with his current shooting mechanic. Maybe he should try this before he tries to stick his elbow out more, what do you think?
I don't know. Doc hasn't mentioned it specifically. I'm not sure if Doc thinks that it's too hard to change his form at this point and it doesn't matter enough, or if disagrees with me and this is the way he wants Lin to shoot.
In my opinion, one summer can definitely change things. It's immediately easier to make shots when you align both your wrist and elbow with the target. As I remember it, when I corrected that, I was just instantly a better shooter.
What would happen if he decided to adjust? On some of his shots his elbow would be aligned, and he'd make a higher percentage. Some shots, his elbow would not be aligned, and he'd make at the old rate. There isn't really any downside. The more he practiced, the higher proportion of shots would be taken with correct alignment, until he was taking all his shots that way. I don't think it would take more than 2 months of deliberate practice to get to 100% conformance.
One theory is that his shoulders are too broad to bring his elbow in that far. Seems doubtful to me. Every shooter in the NBA 3-point contest pointed his elbow at the hoop, and at least several have shoulders as broad or broader than Lin.
I don't know Michael. I nominate you as Lin's new shooting coach. I'm just not optimistic that doc realizes this flaw enough to install changes to his form this summer. Lin needs to act fast before he wastes another summer
Yes, I think turning his body toward the basket would surely improve his shooting. Anything that gets his elbow pointed at the basket will do it. I wouldn't necessarily prefer him to do that since there's a higher ceiling the other way, but it could be a stepping stone perhaps.
But, the other motion isn't to stick his elbow out more, but stick it in more. Point it where you want the ball to go, since it's a hinge joint and the ball wants to follow the path of the joint opening.
Imagine if you had a little hoop in front of you and little ball. Would you be more accurate positioning your arm like a catapult, so the elbow is pointed directly at the hoop or with your arm askew? That close, it won't make a big difference, but you can visualize the advantage. The problem is magnified the further away the hoop is.
All I know is that Lin has a rolling motion when he catches the ball and shoots it. That's fine when you have all the time in the world, but when I look at other good shooters, they just bring up the ball and let it fly. I like your point that most non-NBA players are probably not athletic enough (or with quick mechanics) to get off shots.
My opinion is Lin's impediment to making shots during games is purely mental.
He's never going to be a pure shooter, so no point in investing more time in that regards. It's diminishing returns.
His shots will fall when he is able to block out all the negativity that emanates from his own team.
I think all he needs to do is to get to the point where he doesn't have to think about making adjustments to make his shots fall DURING the game.
I think that's why Lin shoots like a pussy sometimes because he has to think about how much wrist or legs to use. And, he doesn't do this nearly as much when he gets to be the play maker because his wrists and legs are already warmed up from dribbling.
Yes, that's another thing, is it worth it for Lin to learn how to shoot when cold/coming off the bench? That's obviously when his shots are not falling.
Basically, like the 2nd and 3rd point MT brought up, if not for the knee and the dreadful excuse of a team he's on right now, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
Lin's shots are fine. He just needs a new environment. Once his head is in sync with his body that is.
Doc only works with Lin during the offseason. During the season, none of the Rox coaching staff corrected Lin's shot mechanic if they think it's flawed? I'm not questioning the views expressed here but I'm wondering why hasn't the Rox coaching staff done anything to help Lin improve his shot mechanic?
I'm sure you are aware of the conflict on this blog, and I'd like to make a these suggestions:
1. Please used the Golden Rule when posting to someone or about someone. 2. Please show us your A game, your delight in fun and so on so this blog can be enjoyable to read 3. KHuang, please consider not using Racist or Troll for a response, even on defense 4. Others, please stop attacking KHuang - it's a pattern that isn't constructive 5. Please don't attack each other (or me he he - said by everyone I'm sure) 6. Please strive to disagree without being disagreeable 7. Aim for the common good, greater than the individual 8. Share more and risk more, if we do establish a safer place to express ourselves 9. Brent, please post more of your one line zingers. We'll get to 1000 someday.
If you feel I've left something out, feel free to add but please be constructive toward a good board.
Meanwhile, I'm taking a break ... enjoyed a lot of your posts this year. I thank you.
11. Do extend an olive branch to your opponent even after you've done a character assassination job on him because you know you are a better person for it.
As someone who has been called a "troll" and "hater" (don't know if I have been called a racist) for posting on basketball issues, I am all for your suggestions. I pretty much really care about Lin's BB performance and issues.
See what I'm saying? Eb did NOTHINH to bait khuang and he stills rags on him. As a matter of fact, it looks like eb was hoping for me to end if this and stick to basket ball. But instead, khuang bashes him.
What is wrong with you khuang? Stop making enemies.
And no, I will just stick with you. i triesd to bait JT, ur new best friend, but he is much classier than I am. U not so much. Plus. U r much more fun to toy with.
Sorry JT is gone. It's just you and me. And maybe etane whenever he feels like it.
WTF, I almost never "taunt" other members. The only reason I indirectly "taunt" you is because you call me a hater and troll, which is hilarious because I regularly defend Lin on CL site. Stop hiding behind other members; that trick is getting old and many members are onto your little trick.
When I disagree with KHuang, he says I think other people are "delusional". No, for the record, I think ONLY YOU are DELUSIONAL. (I capitalized to make my points stronger, because if I capitalize, that means I am right.) I think you are underestimating other posters' ability to see through things. (You see what I did here by bringing other posters?) Stop with that shit, it's getting old; and I can play this trick also.
Solid, I nominate you to fight KHuang for me, as he's getting too tiresome for me. This will be the last post I will respond to him, no matter what he says. KHuang thinks I am a troll, and I think he's an elf.
Sure. Khuang thinks that if he repeats same thing again and again ( he's troll and he hates Lin and he's a racist) and writes in caps, he will be proven right. I find that fascinating in a twisted way.
But don't worry u will be back - cause u know he will say some "out of the freaking world, I'm effing crazyyyyyy biatches, this is your brain, this is my brain on cocaine" delusions that you will just have to respond to. - cause its just mind numbingly stupid...until then, ignore away!
I have a feeling that Heat can turn up one notch when they are forced to. However, I never thought MEM would lose 4 in a row to Spurs, but I think it was primarily due to their poor FT shooting.
Even yesterday, pacers just couldn't pull away. Few no calls here and there, the game could've easily gone to the heat.
LBJ is a monster.hibbert needs to play phenomenally on both ends of the floor for pacers to have chance. Otherwise, I predict the next two will go to Miami..
I see the heat as juggernaut you just can't kill. Pacers had ample opportunities to pull away, but I turn away for a sec and then they are right behind.
Pacers are definitely putting up a battle.. But I think eventually they will wilt.
Lin sports, I think what happened with the lay-up gimme was that LeBron's defender thought there was not enough time for LeBron to drive for a lay-up and thought LeBron would take a jumper, so he laid off LeBron. That was a veteran move by LeBron. I agree that Pacers should be up 3-1.
Via, do u know if Lin started practicing? I am sick of him hanging out with kevjumba and higa. This is going to be an extremely important year coming up.
Don't think he's with them anymore. [Higa to Singapore, last heard. Kev's in NY.] He's in Cali, so probably doing some training already. [Not confirmed.] Last seen playing flag football, lol. downthread, visiting schools.
If I had it my way, I would fire DOC and hire Michael Terry to be his new shooting coach ( very informative discussion above ).
I would warn Lin that Beverley is taking smack and trying to take his job. I would make a big cut out of McHale's head and have it place on the wall of he gym so Lin can be reminded of this dick and motivate himself to practice hard.
If he is daring anyone, she would be given a stern warning about messing Lin's future up.
IMO Lin comes off as too childish hanging around and making "cute" videos. I know some people like his posting these stuff, but for me, I just can't take him seriously when he makes "cute" videos. He's sufficiently well-known, so that his on court performance will mean more than his off-court activities.
I don't watch his videos.. But I just feel like I don't get that Kobe like determination to get himself ready for next season from Lin.
He needs to realize that his success on the court will translate into more opportunities for charity later in his life. It's the time for basketball now..those other things can come later.
Well we all know Lin is not going to change his ways. That's the most frustrating thing about him, but its his life and prerogative.
And u don't care what McHale says. Sure if everything stays status quo then McHale will likely give bev more time. But if Lin comes back a much better, confident and consistent shooter, McHale will beg Lin to play more min.
One thing is clear. Nothing will just be handed to Lin. Lin has not "made it" yet. He will have to earn it. If Lin plays well, I'm sure he will be the undisputed starter next year.
"But if Lin comes back a much better, confident and consistent shooter, McHale will beg Lin to play more min." - I hope you're right, Solidz. Having flashbacks on the times McHale benches JLin even when he's hot...
You people are talking like as if somewhat OK for Lin to be just a shooter/catch and shoot role, that is the impression I get around here. Jeremy's game is much more than catch and shoot but we must settle for less because some people don't want Lin shine too bright
oh ok, just because he is making "cute" youtube videos he is deemed as childish and because he is not acting like an "I'm fearless, hear me roar" douche,he is easy to diss....riiight.
IMO, for Lin to stay relevant in this flawed offense, he needs to shoot better. I don't think that is the best aspect of his game, but it's obviously not the team catering to his style of play. Istead it's the team making him play a certain way. He's getting paid a lot of money to do it. He hasn't shown any hints that he wants to leave. So he needs to become a catch and shooter.
Do I like it? .. Hell no! .. Do I wish I was a billionaire so I can buy the team and fire the eff out of entire coaching staff? Hell yeah. But it is what it is.
Joshua Osborn @yeshuajoshua Jeremy Lin visited our school today, so awesome for the kids. So humble to. God sees the heart of those who love Him http://pic.twitter.com/GaAvBCfi7I 1:49 PM - 29 May 13
I unfortunately don't see this guy improving in any areas of his game. If he can get to LA dantoni will know how to utilize his strengths. I can see him running the lake show like Ramon Sessions. The more he handles the ball the more his confidence goes up and good things seem to happen. Maybe he will surprise us again.
Lin sports, let's wait and see how Lin does next year. I actually feel like Lin did improve from the Linsanity month in that he passed better this year.
I did, Lin told me KHUANG is "effing nuts" ( his words not mine) and wants absolutely nothing to do with him. And then he blocked me for uttering his name. Thanks a lot, eb.
A true psychopath calling others psychopaths -- that's hilarious. It would really be funny if Lin makes a video saying "I have nothing to do with that KHuang guy". I have to admit that once a thought did cross my mind that perhaps KHuang was Lin's friend.
It seems like all the Asian pitchers do well initially until the hitters figure them out. But it looks like he has the personality to adapt fast to the us culture. Did u see that video if him doing gangnam style with Matt kemp. Hilarious.
If choo keeps this up, he will definitely get paid. It helps he has Scott boras as his agent. He just needs to do a better job with left handers. That is his biggest weakness.
Does anyone know if Jeremy has commented about all the trade rumors surrounding him? I am wondering if down deep he is hoping for a trade or if he is so tired of being moved that he just wants to stay and prove himself in Houston. Anybody hear anything?
I'm concerned to see some of you Americans have very skewed perspective of what is GOOD. It's not like he was fucking bitches, gettin' wasted, and high or some other shits. Just let Lin be Lin. Let him use this very limited time to do what he wants, spend some time with people that he care and spreading joy with other people. The NBA playoff is still not even over yet, just wait until its fully over.
There will be PLENTY of time later for practice as much as humanly possible. Trust his work ethic. I don't think its cool to criticize his work ethic when your own work ethic is nothing compared to him. Patience, friends. Still too early to judge his off season. There will be time for that when there is another off season video or two
Remember everyone is going to work on their game. I see that bev and chandler have already started.. It's those who stay that one extra hour every day who will come out on top.
Instead of seeing him backing on all these Hawaiian girls, I would like see some pics of him practicing.
Like I said, I'm not feign that Kobe, Mj determination vibe from him. Quite worrisome.
[I'm apologizing SO MUCH for posting this here, but I'm trying to get JT this. NOT TRYING TO PICK A FIGHT. Sorry to you all again.]
@JT~ You asked me not to micro-quote bcos it's out of context. [refute line-by-line.] I don't see what the problem is. If you mean you want your posts to be taken like one big chunk of pie with indistinguishable ingredients within, sorry I can't do that. The truth is in the details. [Language not only delivers our thoughts and ideas, most importantly it reveals the speaker's mindset.]
I hope you didn't mean I was re-interpreting your words, bcos I DO NOT DO THAT, [That's why the line-by-line refutation, for you to address if there were any misrepresentation.]
I'm sure you're familiar with the Freudian slip? It sits on the assumption that the words we chose to use and how we use them reveals certain unexpressed beliefs. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're not consciously aware of some of the implications of your posts [and that my unveiling this is what's distressing you.] The alternative is to admit there's some sleight of words going. Language is a tool for SHAPING THOUGHTS, you see. [An example is how you reframe KHuang's race-mongering as a "refrain". The asymmetry in how you present KHuang's and Solidz' cases. More later.] and I'm going to assume this is not what you're doing.
It would be easier for me to point directly to the quote [and I don't understand why it would be a problem since having the quote at hand would make it easier for you to address whatever misinterpretation you claim I'm making on them. But, as you wish.]
Throughout your post, you curiously KEEP TELLING ME WHAT I WANT: "You want KHuang to stop using his emphatic Racist and Troll monikers." ""You want some moderation. That's up to JLinFan#1." ""The big picture is what you want - you wanted I think a lowering of the fighting here, and you wanted less use of inappropriate monikers."
No, JT. I want none of those. If you read my post closely, I'm passionately AGAINST ANY FORM OF CONTROL. So I wouldn't want and HAVE NEVER TRIED to control KHuang, impose moderation on the board, advocated to censor the use of "inappropriate" monikers, or ban unruly behavior/ fighting. That would be the OPPOSITE of what I want.
What I hope for is INCLUSION for Lin fans who might think differently. TOLERANCE for opinions that might deviate from ours. Surely we can NOT be so fearful of the fragility of our love for JLin that we ban all opinions except the most glowingest of praise for JLin? Surely we can NOT be so lacking in intelligence that we cannot comprehend how others might hold equally valid viewpoints that might not parrot ours? [Again, Theory of Mind.]
You mention you're not trying to change or attack anyone else's views. I don't see anyone doing that actually, except KHuang. Intimidating posters with unfounded accusations in order to suppress views that do not suppport his is a form of content selection control. -> Muzzling the minority, and shepherding the majority towards a certain viewpoint. [w/c for lack of counterpoint, now acts as default: The Official Stance. Like I said, if we allow it, we deserve it.] Do you know he tried to bully posters off the board? By rationalizing and whitewashing KHuang's actions, you become complicit. There's no neutral, JT. One must take responsibility for one's choices, as I'm sure you know.
Throughout your posts you reframe KHuang's chronic behavior by renaming it as a "refrain" [and therefore draining it of all personal agency, instead implying it's a form of harmless habit] yet you magnify Solidz' ONE instance of thugspeak. Which is more likely to be used repeatedly in RL, racist or p*ssy? Solidz is actually the type of guy who would use that term with his homies. I said it was an unfortunate term bcos it involves the word p*ssy. You're right it's at par with b*tch, both of which is used CASUALLY everyday. [Lemme guess, only classical and jazz for you, no hiphop? No popular media, only NPR?] No, it's not at par with c*nt. But the kicker, to view SO LIGHTLY this word "racist" [the history of which includes lynching, raping, burning, enslaving, gas chambers, internment, etc etc, just incredible brutality.] Also, please remember Solidz is Asian himself. [That's like calling a Jewish person a Nazi.]
How would you like to be called a Linhater, JT? Solidz defends him outside this board, and gets called that, even after KHuang was informed.
He said JLin is acting like a p* [acting scared.] You know when you say that? When someone is not a p*ssy. That's the point of the words: acting like. It shows Solidz baseline for JLin -> NOT a p* but somehow, ACTING like one.
Again, why not OUTRIGHT ASK Solidz if he thinks JLin is a coward. That's a way to settle it. You know he will say no. SETTLED. Unless we want to harp on this for other reasons, in which case to prolong this is a massive disrespect to JLin, who wouldn't be pleased being used like this.
KHuang is a repeat offender who supplements the name-calling with his own brand of re-syllogism in order to harvest gems like: "Etane, calling asians like via alcoholic and gambler, why do you hate via so much?" He continues to malign, in the face of data contradicting his claims. <- Insisting that character is what you admire in KHuang, it's fair to wonder about: 1. Your mental acuity, 2. Moral values, 3. Your good faith in these discussions.
KHuang has THE RIGHT to do what he does [+ consequence], I have the right to do what I do [+consequence]. It's as simple as that. What he sometimes do is lie/ spin, what I sometimes do is point out and refute. He lie/ spin some more, I point out and refute some more. Bcos the people he maligns are in the minority, and to remain silent in this case is to add my weight to their bullying. You're right to say no choice IS a choice. I made a choice, knowing full well the possible backlash from the majority here. You made a choice too, and you'll be judged accordingly [like everybody else.]
You say micro-quoting devolves to the lowest common denominator. - I believe in building from the ground up. If the integrity of the foundation is in question, wth? Micro-quoting actually helps to root out unconscious beliefs, implied context, subliminal messages. We're both honest with each other, where's the problem.
- You imply that I'm quoting you out of context, I've NEVER ENGAGED in any such thing. If you notice, the quotes are always sequential so you'd find where they occurred in your post. I don't extract words the way KHuang, your high-character guy, does ALL THE TIME. Where's the angst when he does this all over the page?
- What I want is Math, examining each word, clear. What you seem to want is Essay, piles upon piles of words one on top of the other. I trust that this is bcos you're a gestalt type of guy and not bcos you're a glib BSer.
- Also, point out to me where I've misrepresented your words and I'd be happy to apologize. But if you're going to make the accusation, surely you'd afford me the chance to defend myself.
- You say you're a big picture guy. I am too, but not at the price of integrity. There's too unaccountability swept under the rug, for the sake of The Vision. From what I remember of Utopia-builders, their juggernaut tend to crush the people.
Do you really not think being accused as a racist [WHEN ONE IS NOT A RACIST] is a big deal? Or is this an effort to reframe a serious issue [MALIGNING PEOPLE AS RACIST] into something inconsequential?
"If some people recoil at your use of 'racist' or 'troll', then might you choose to address the real issue rather than use the refrain?"
- The "IF" implying that some people would not mind being accused of being a racist WHEN THEY ARE NOT. The casual way you lumped "racist" and "trolls" in that sentence was disturbing to me. The blithe way you were asking KHuang if he would MIND stopping with the race-mongering reminds me of aristocrats discussing the mundane requests of lowly proles.
I wonder why you failed to see where KHuang tries to manipulate me, [execution so lazy it's disdain on top of disdain, lol.] Just wondering, JT. You know I'm a very curious person.
JT you're acting like a pussy for asking someone to not quote what you said.
You can't have it both ways. You make statements about others then others will have the right to use your own statements against you.
This is the way society works. You and your bff Khuang has to take responsibility for your "refrains".
And, yes, I like to see evidence where you think via has quoted you out of context. If you can't bring evidence, then, again, you got no grounds with your accusations.
Simply proves that via is in the right as there's no other way to communicate with the likes of you unless it's in a fashion where your words can be held accountable against you.
Wow Via, that was awesome. Not because ( i think) u are defending me (which, ok I ain't gonna lie, is a bonus) but I just love the fact that u are not too uptight like some people here. All this time I thought u were just "tolerating" my admittedly "uncouth" behavior.
In any case, I don't know what JT did to deserve such response, but he should know not to eff with the most dedicated member of this site. No one can argue with that.

Saw it earlier but thought you would post it for us here...[taking you for granted is a bad habit...BTW, please don't leave this board bcuz of anybody. you know i was nearly in tears when i read your posts about leaving this board twice?(sounds so dramatic but it's true...)]
No no, I was just trying to show that I'm acting in good faith in all this and not trying to "get" someone. [Proof, those intervals I wasn't around, I did it for KHuang.]
I'm sorry if I caused you any distress, liv... *hugs*

Let's agree and disagree on the issues only. I see many people can disagree with KHuang on his definition on racism and gunner issues without getting personal.
The fight just made it hard for many people to read good content in the forum so I'm sure many people would appreciate the discussion minus the fights.

DeleteWe can do that... :)
Delete*inhale* sweet smell of diversity.
DeleteLin needs to improve and not play without confidence. McHale mindfucked him. He needs to get his swagger back and play more selfishly with the ball in his hands.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. Lin needs to play more selfishly with his balls.
DeleteTechnically he needs to play aggressively and selfishly with one ball in his hand. And use his other hand to fend guys from reaching in behind. So, we're talking about basketball right?
DeleteYou know he is not..... lol
DeleteLin needs to learn to protect and prevent others from handling them. I saw harden and definitely parsons trying to take that away from Lin this year. Sometimes even McHale made Liin lose them. Really, Lin without the balls is not the same Lin. He needs to feel them out and make sure they are well inflated.
DeleteAmbiguous Sentences Try #2: He needs to be aggressive and selfish so he can drive a ball in his hand to finish at the hole. He needs to use his off hand to defend guys from reaching in from behind.
DeleteLin needs to grip that ball tightly and really feel it out ..
DeleteWith his hands on the ball, he can pentrate hard into the hole and finish with an explosion.
That is the way he should play.
Solidz75 - You really are into Jeremy's ball handling and team chemistry with Chandler.
DeleteAll this talk about aggression is good and all but you forgot why McHell's nickname is McFridge?
DeleteAggressive Lin = Pine Time
Jonathon, I am more impressed by Lin's ability to penetrate hard and finish so quickly.
DeleteLin needs to develop a spin dribble.

ReplyDeleteLin practiced shooting until his fingers bled last off-season and during the season. If your mechanics are good, it normally doesn't take nearly that number of reps to become a great shooter. I will be interested to see if he can practice so hard that he can become a great shooter with poor mechanics.
ReplyDeleteSource about his shooting... I thought he couldn't practice much due to coming back from knee surgery.
DeleteI guess it's not that difficult to be a "great" shooter in the NBA if your mechanics are sound.
DeleteHis training regime was extensively covered on this blog. Check the archives. While he was in China, he had two sessions a day, morning and afternoon.
DeleteThat is worrisome then why da heck was his shooting so horrific in the beginning of he season.
DeleteIf your mechanics are sound, the only thing it takes is repetition. As Steve Nash said, "If everybody worked as hard as me I'd be without a job." Lots and lots of regular joes are great shooters, they just don't have the minimum level of athleticism to get shots off in the NBA. That's not Lin's problem.
DeleteUnfortunately, he insists on using his wrist as the joint to align with the basket whereas the elbow is stabilized by bigger bones and stronger muscles.
Well well what is troubling for me is.. If he worked that hard last season on his shooting and wasn't that consistent this year, can we expect him to improve next season.
DeleteIt looks like you are advocating a total revamp if his shooting mechanics..
Delete1.
DeleteIt might take a month or two to have it down pat.
DeleteAgain the einstein's definition of insanity comes to mind.
I don't know if u r used to shooting in a certain way for the first 20 years of your life, will one summer change things?
DeleteLin must develop a consistent outside shot .. Because he typically takes a pounding inside, not knowing how to land.
IMO that is the key to his game at this point in his career.
* "...makes it hard to shoot jumpers moving toward your strong side" I should have said.
DeleteIf you're dribbling to the right and you're right-handed, for example, you have to twist all the way until the right half of your body is tilted toward the basket.
He shoots like a girl because he has a girl's coach teaching him. Perhaps it's time for Lin to move on from doc. If he practices that hard on his shooting last year and this was the result, something has to give.
DeleteIt does appear to me that Lin doesn't turn his body enough with his current shooting mechanic. Maybe he should try this before he tries to stick his elbow out more, what do you think?
DeleteI don't know. Doc hasn't mentioned it specifically. I'm not sure if Doc thinks that it's too hard to change his form at this point and it doesn't matter enough, or if disagrees with me and this is the way he wants Lin to shoot.
DeleteIn my opinion, one summer can definitely change things.
DeleteYes, I think turning his body toward the basket would surely improve his shooting. Anything that gets his elbow pointed at the basket will do it. I wouldn't necessarily prefer him to do that since there's a higher ceiling the other way, but it could be a stepping stone perhaps.
DeleteBut, the other motion isn't to stick his elbow out more, but stick it in more.
Do you have any idea how he can improve his FT shooting? I feel he should be shooting above 85%.
DeleteAll I know is that Lin has a rolling motion when he catches the ball and shoots it. That's fine when you have all the time in the world, but when I look at other good shooters, they just bring up the ball and let it fly. I like your point that most non-NBA players are probably not athletic enough (or with quick mechanics) to get off shots.
DeleteMy opinion is Lin's impediment to making shots during games is purely mental.
DeleteHe's never going to be a pure shooter, so no point in investing more time in that regards.
I can't disagree with what etane said.
DeleteDoc only works with Lin during the offseason. During the season, none of the Rox coaching staff corrected Lin's shot mechanic if they think it's flawed? I'm not questioning the views expressed here but I'm wondering why hasn't the Rox coaching staff done anything to help Lin improve his shot mechanic?

Sorry JT is gone. It's just you and me. And maybe etane whenever he feels like it.
WTF, I almost never "taunt" other members. The only reason I indirectly "taunt" you is because you call me a hater and troll, which is hilarious because I regularly defend Lin on CL site. Stop hiding behind other members; that trick is getting old and many members are onto your little trick.
DeleteWhen I disagree with KHuang, he says I think other people are "delusional". No, for the record, I think ONLY YOU are DELUSIONAL. (I capitalized to make my points stronger, because if I capitalize, that means I am right.) I think you are underestimating other posters' ability to see through things. Solidz75 and you are here to flame Lin and his fans. You guys think Lin can't play.
You are BS too much and too often, you elf.
DeleteSolid, I nominate you to fight KHuang for me, as he's getting too tiresome for me. This will be the last post I will respond to him, no matter what he says. KHuang thinks I am a troll, and I think he's an elf.
DeleteSure. Khuang thinks that if he repeats same thing again and again ( he's troll and he hates Lin and he's a racist) and writes in caps, he will be proven right. I find that fascinating in a twisted way.
DeleteBut don't worry u will be back - cause u know he will say some "out of the freaking world, I'm effing crazyyyyyy biatches, this is your brain, this is my brain on cocaine" delusions that you will just have to respond to. - cause its just mind numbingly stupid...until then, ignore away!
You trolls are just here to personal attack people and DISRESPECT LIN.
DeleteYou call him a "pussy" and degrade his game and habits. And you especially hate the fans like me that openly defend him from your trolling.
Personal attacks on Lin and Lin's fans are why you trolls post here.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Lebron is too good. Only if hinbert plays out of his mind, will pacers be able to pull it off.
Deletego PACERS!!!!!!!
DeleteI have a feeling that Heat can turn up one notch when they are forced to. However, I never thought MEM would lose 4 in a row to Spurs, but I think it was primarily due to their poor FT shooting.
DeleteEven yesterday, pacers just couldn't pull away. Few no calls here and there, the game could've easily gone to the heat.
DeleteLBJ is a monster.hibbert needs to play phenomenally on both ends of the floor for pacers to have chance. Otherwise, I predict the next two will go to Miami..
LEBRON/WEST DOUBLEFLOP
DeletePacers should be up 3-1, layup gimme in game one was a joke.
DeleteMost games seem to come down to the last 2 minutes.
DeleteI see the heat as juggernaut you just can't kill. Pacers had ample opportunities to pull away, but I turn away for a sec and then they are right behind.
DeletePacers are definitely putting up a battle..
DeleteIt was funny not a dumb foul but a uncontested layup instead. Sam young the guy they put in only rotated over halfway why?
DeleteMental lapse, but like I said, that was a veteran move by LeBron. Pacers were about to eat their cake, but LeBron stole it from their table.

ReplyDeleteDon't think he's with them anymore. [Higa to Singapore, last heard. Kev's in NY.]
DeleteHe's in Cali, so probably doing some training already. [Not confirmed.] Last seen playing flag football, lol. downthread, visiting schools.
Your Tiger Mom-ishness is showing. =P
If I had it my way, I would fire DOC and hire Michael Terry to be his new shooting coach ( very informative discussion above ).
DeleteI would warn Lin that Beverley is taking smack and trying to take his job.
DeleteKnowing Lin, he probably prays for Mac and others . . .
DeleteI don't watch his videos.. But I just feel like I don't get that Kobe like determination to get himself ready for next season from Lin.
DeleteHe needs to realize that his success on the court will translate into more opportunities for charity later in his life. It's the time for basketball now..those other things can come later.
@Solidz~ Yeah, MTerry's posts are great, the way he breaks things down. [Physical stuff, also mental strategies.]
DeleteHope the thing with Bev doesn't turn out so bad for JLin. Sounds like McHale will be giving him more PT [implied.]
@eb5~ probably just JLin's way of staying down-to-earth [not ditching old friends for a new NBA lifestyle, etc]
I agree there's no way he'd consciously hate on McHale and co.
I have seen this many times where people "like" a nice guy, but don't respect or fear him. I feel like Lin is too darn nice sometimes.
DeleteFor sure, YOU don't respect Lin eb5attorney.
DeleteNever have, never will.
Well we all know Lin is not going to change his ways. That's the most frustrating thing about him, but its his life and prerogative.
DeleteAnd u don't care what McHale says.
"But if Lin comes back a much better, confident and consistent shooter, McHale will beg Lin to play more min."
Delete- I hope you're right, Solidz.
DeleteWell, Lin = Gunner.
Deleteoh ok, just because he is making "cute" youtube videos he is deemed as childish and because he is not acting like an "I'm fearless, hear me roar" douche,he is easy to diss....riiight.
DeleteIMO, for Lin to stay relevant in this flawed offense, he needs to shoot better. I don't think that is the best aspect of his game, but it's obviously not the team catering to his style of play. Istead it's the team making him play a certain way. He's getting paid a lot of money to do it. He hasn't shown any hints that he wants to leave. So he needs to become a catch and shooter.
DeleteDo I like it? .. Hell no! .. Do I wish I was a billionaire so I can buy the team and fire the eff out of entire coaching staff? Hell yeah. But it is what it is.
Go put on your speedo and get yourself a billionaire wife, Solidz. You're our only hope...

Lin already does enough charity work and shows humbleness on BB court by getting beat up by other players and refs.
DeleteI unfortunately don't see this guy improving in any areas of his game. If he can get to LA dantoni will know how to utilize his strengths. I can see him running the lake show like Ramon Sessions. The more he handles the ball the more his confidence goes up and good things seem to happen. Maybe he will surprise us again.
DeleteHere come the anti Lin trolls, led by eb5attorney and Solidz75 and all the haters that think Lin's not working hard enough at his game . . .

Yeah I forgot that Khuang is a personal friend of Lin... That he knows exactly what Lin is doing...
DeleteAt least I support and believe in and respect Lin, unlike you Solidz75 who can't stand his game.
DeleteOf course, you posting here isn't about Lin. It's strictly to FLAME.
KHuang, go ahead and keep on making a bigger fool of yourself. So, my saying Lin is "too nice" is trolling? Wow, a new definition by KHuang!
DeleteUntil you get Lin to sign a letter saying "KHuang speaks on my behalf", shut your mouth idiot. Everyone has the right to express their opinions here.
DeleteSolid, why don't you email Lin and ask Lin if he designated KHuang as his spokes elf?
DeleteI did, Lin told me KHUANG is "effing nuts" ( his words not mine) and wants absolutely nothing to do with him. And then he blocked me for uttering his name. Thanks a lot, eb.
DeleteYou evil psychopaths are showing your true colors, Solidz75 and eb5attorney.
DeleteA true psychopath calling others psychopaths -- that's hilarious. It would really be funny if Lin makes a video saying "I have nothing to do with that KHuang guy". I have to admit that once a thought did cross my mind that perhaps KHuang was Lin's friend.

lots of fans don't like his new hair but i'm indifferent...for me, Lin's most attractive "asset" isn't his physical looks but his demeanour. :)
DeleteWTF HAPPENED TO HIS HAIR!! Omg..
DeleteDoes anyone know if Jeremy has commented about all the trade rumors surrounding him? I am wondering if down deep he is hoping for a trade or if he is so tired of being moved that he just wants to stay and prove himself in Houston. Anybody hear anything?
ReplyDeleteI'm concerned to see some of you Americans have very skewed perspective of what is GOOD. It's not like he was fucking bitches, gettin' wasted, and high or some other shits. Just let Lin be Lin. Let him use this very limited time to do what he wants, spend some time with people that he care and spreading joy with other people. The NBA playoff is still not even over yet, just wait until its fully over.
ReplyDeleteThere will be PLENTY of time later for practice as much as humanly possible. Trust his work ethic. I don't think its cool to criticize his work ethic when your own work ethic is nothing compared to him. Patience, friends. Still too early to judge his off season. There will be time for that when there is another off season video or two
Rikki m, you're simply seeing ANTI LIN TROLL behavior that's poorly disguised as Lin fan behavior.
DeleteRemember everyone is going to work on their game. I see that bev and chandler have already started.. It's those who stay that one extra hour every day who will come out on top.
DeleteInstead of seeing him backing on all these Hawaiian girls, I would like see some pics of him practicing.
Like I said, I'm not feign that Kobe, Mj determination vibe from him. Quite worrisome.
Seeing.. Not jonathon feign

ReplyDeleteMORE INFO ON THE CONTEST
DeleteIts like people outside USA don't exist. The contest is too damn local, excellent sales and marketing strategy.
Delete[I'm apologizing SO MUCH for posting this here, but I'm trying to get JT this. NOT TRYING TO PICK A FIGHT. Sorry to you all again.]
ReplyDelete@JT~
You asked me not to micro-quote bcos it's out of context. [refute line-by-line.]
I don't see what the problem is.
DeleteI don't see anyone doing that actually, except KHuang.
Delete- I believe in building from the ground up.
First post:
Delete*trying to get JT to read this.
JT you're acting like a pussy for asking someone to not quote what you said.
DeleteYou can't have it both ways.
DeleteIn any case, I don't know what JT did to deserve such response, but he should know not to eff with the most dedicated member of this site. No one can argue with that.

Thanks via.
DeleteSaw it earlier but thought you would post it for us here...[taking you for granted is a bad habit...BTW, please don't leave this board bcuz of anybody. you know i was nearly in tears when i read your posts about leaving this board twice?(sounds so dramatic but it's true...)]
No no, I was just trying to show that I'm acting in good faith in all this and not trying to "get" someone. [Proof, those intervals I wasn't around, I did it for KHuang.]
DeleteI'm sorry if I caused you any distress, liv...
*hugs*
Huh?
Deletewhat did I have to do with via leaving?
I remember encouraging her to come back when she could.
