Rockets vs Cavs Game #69 1st Half Game Thread

174 comments:

  1. We're back for Friday's night game with Cleveland Cavalier. The race in the West is tight with the Lakers sitting a game behind the Rockets. The Rockets are in 7th and the Lakers are in 8th place. The Rockets need to throttle the Cavaliers since they are at home. They should not let up on this team with or without Kyrie playing tonight. Go Rockets.

  2. Lin with his first assist to Asik who scored on the reverse layup.

    ReplyDelete
  3. The rockets are in a tough schedule after this so they better start with a win.
But the last trade got the rockets in big trouble. They lost TD, Patterson and Coledrich which are helping the Kings with their fire powers to down the Clippers and Timberwolves.
The last two games, the ex-rockets won it for the Kings.
The rockets has been dropping in team scoring. Let's hope DMo and Robinson play well today.

  4. No hesitation 3. Good shot by Lin but just didn't fall.

  5. Lin with a strong drive to the hoop for the bucket and an AND 1.

  6. yay! Rockets vs Cavaliers. positive this will be another Rockets blowout vs Cavs. imho, Lebron and the Heat just made the game exciting their last match up and let the Cavs take the lead, then crawl up to snatch the win.

    go Rockets. go Jeremy.

    ReplyDelete
  7. JLin with no look to Asik for two!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Lin with some patience and then passing it to a wide open Asik running the floor for his 2nd assist.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Lin is not feeling it from three point land. He is 0 for 2 so far.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Lin running the floor and pick up his third assist on a pass to Parson for the layup and the AND 1.

    ReplyDelete
  11. DMO has problem shooting free throws since the last game.
It's better to start TRob and let him win the starting role from the bench.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sure happy that Parson pick up his game early.

    ReplyDelete
  13. CP receives pass from JLin and scores -> two and one!

    DMO 3!

    ReplyDelete
  14. The 3 pointers are not falling today for the Rox.
Now it's up to Asik and Lin

    ReplyDelete
  15. Beardy throws great pass to DMO for 2

    ReplyDelete
  16. DMO finally gets his 3 pointers. Cheers

    ReplyDelete
  17. Harden with a nice pass to D0Mo for the slam.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Guys - boxscore says Lin has 4 assists. Shouldnt it be 5 assists?

    ReplyDelete
  19. The Rox either 3 pointers or score from the paints. efficient shots.

    ReplyDelete
  20. DMO is proving that I was wrong about him on the court
    Sure hope so.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Lin needs to play HORSE before every game.

    1. It's the therapeutic game he played with his brother before the Utah game that got his shots going.

      Delete
  22. Lin picked up his 2nd foul. S. Livingston drew it on him on a tick tacky call.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 2 fouls on Lin; he is going to be benched soon.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Cavs have a ton of young guys with something to prove. They're going hard and Rockets better match the effor. Ugly turnover on the inbounds.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Bench time,it remind me the Miami game during insanity.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 4 assist in the first quarter; it's awesome.
Just hope that Lin gets his shots back in the 2nd

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lin up too late watching that Harvard game. He looks subpar. That last to was sloppy.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, he looks somewhat lackadaisical. He better be careful because the opponents are trying to trap him and play tough D on him.

      Delete
    2. Good point Solidz. Lin looks totally out of it, especially taking that last pass off this face.

      Delete
  28. That was a phantom foul called on Lin. Unbelievable.

He missed some shots and is passing up open looks now. Just shoot it without conscience man.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, the foul call was not totally unreasonable. What happened was Livingston faked out Lin, and Lin took a step into Livingston and bumped him. It was not phantom call, although the ref could have ignored it.

      Delete
  29. Lin is going to be sitting a while ...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Rox just can't lose to these scrubs..

    ReplyDelete

    1. Rockets look very good on offense and defense, except for that last minute.

No complaints about Jeremy, except for that careless turnover where he got inbounds pass and tried to flip it over his shoulder (no look) and it got picked off.

I think they will eventually pull away from Cavaliers.

Hopefully Rockets have put game away by end of third quarter and all starters rest.

Tony Parker is back in Spurs lineup, so Lin will have his hands full on Sunday.

      Delete
    2. I didn't like the one play when he picked up the dribble too early and almost turned it over. He just seems off today.

      Delete
    3. Didn't see that play.

Lin looks like he hasn't found his range yet (missed threes and free throw).

But looks like he is missing long, not randomly left or right, so hopefully that corrects itself with a few more shot attempts.

      Delete
  31. On that full court drive and layup that Lin missed,I thought he jumped too early. He could taken it all the way instead of shooting a runner.

    ReplyDelete
  32. We can't afford to have two guards in foul trouble!
    Now easy man!

    ReplyDelete
  33. As long as Smith is inside.
    Fire the 3s

    ReplyDelete
  34. I like this Trob and GS combo. A very different look. Changes the complexion. Allows for a lot of open looks at the perimeter and offensive rebounds.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good job by the second unit this far.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Jeremy Lin got hit in the head with the ball sitting on the bench. Hahahaha. He is a magnet for getting hit.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The ball finds him. They are good buddies.

      Delete
    2. I blame CP for that. He moved out of the way and exposed Lin to the ball :)

      Delete
  37. I gotta say Bev is a good rebounder for a PG.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There was some stat explaining he's one of the best/better offensive rebounding pg?

      Delete
    2. Jeremy used to be great rebounder but it disappeared under McHale. He doesn't even try anymore.

      Delete
    3. I watched Bev long enough to realize that Bev does have a knack for being around the ball.

      Delete
  38. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!! sorry Jeremy that made me laugh.... they just passed you the ball..

    ReplyDelete

    1. His usage on the bench is higher than on the court.

  39. Rockets play by play man on Luke Walton: "One of the few guys who actually study." (Ouch..racist remark or honest mistake?)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't find anything wrong with it. Walton isn't exactly bursting with athleticism. Just saying he plays smart.

      Delete
  40. Rox missing a lot of layups tonight...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Awesome finish by Trob on fast break!

    ReplyDelete
  42. T-Rob looking good tonight. His only mistake was that charge he picked up earlier but seems to be around the ball and grabbing rebounds. Just got the AND 1 on a pass from Beverly.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I thought that charge was a flop by the defender. Trob does have big shoulders though.

      Delete
  43. Our 2nd team is sure having fun!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Pretty good athleticism there (TRob, Bevereley, and Smith).

      Delete
    2. LOL they bring a lot of energy.

      Delete
  44. Wow our second unit getting extended minutes tonite.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Against a shitty team, I think it's okay...except that Parsons continues to get the love like he has been all season.

      Delete
    2. Well Parsons had 2 quiet games before so he needs to get his stats back.

Have you guys noticed that whenever Parsons got a lot shots, Lin rarely played well?

      Delete
  45. Why didn't they send Brooks in?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. With the trades, seems like there might be an issue about whose is starter, who is backup, and who is third string.

Initially, I thought Beverley might be eyeing Lin's starting spot, and DMo and TRob probably fighting for that power forward spot.

McHale commented about how Shaun Livingston was great team player and was fine coming off bench if Kyrie Irving is healthy.

So, I suspect Aaron Brooks is definitely behind Beverely for team unity purposes.

      Delete
  46. Announcer called that a travel on Trob? I thought that was a good penetration.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Will Lin break 30 minutes of PT tonight?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's his fault for getting in foul trouble. Any reason McHale has to sit Lin, he will use it.

      Delete
    2. As long as we win tonight, who cares.

Rockets will need Lin and Harden to step up big time on Sunday against Spurs.

Tony Parker is back, so hopefully Lin elevates his game, without getting overamped and overaggressive and get into foul trouble so he can't be aggressive in fourth quarter (Lin getting four fouls early in second half of Phoenix loss took away his aggressiveness on offense and defense and allowed Dragic to go off on him in fourth).

      Delete
    3. No, as long as they're winning I'm cool with it but for stats purposes, I'd like to see a 14/7 night from Lin.

      Delete
    4. Playing 30min tonight isn't going to prevent Lin from being ready for Parker on Sunday. We're not talking a back to back here. If it does, then Lin is the weakest basketball player I know.

      Delete
  48. I guess inside game all day.
    Go Rox
Just hope to see Brooks soon.

  49. Brent Yen!! nice.. your Tweet got read by Ho Chen on live tv!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Alrightv Lin, lets get this lead to 20

    ReplyDelete
  51. DMO pick up a foul as soon as he check in
Just hope he won't check out.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Okay the 2nd unit is "hot" but McHale still put in Harden but not Lin.

If McHale can, I bet he wants to play Beverley for 48 straight minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  53. U can't call backcourt on that!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Replay clearly shows Lin was over when he received the ball. Bad call on the refs.

      Delete
    2. At least CP was looking to get Lin the ball. :)

      Delete
    3. I blame the logo for blurring the line division between front court and back court

      Delete
  54. uhm, his foot was almost inside the Rox front court...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sorry DMo, you're going to check out.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Lin getting close to getting his 3rd foul

    ReplyDelete
  57. They are finally calling those jump stops.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lin looking not to shoot.. No good jer

    ReplyDelete
  59. Cheers! the old pat 3s are falling

    ReplyDelete
  60. Wow I didn't know Livingston could do that. Turnaround jumper over Lin.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Lin with 4 points now on a J on the left side.

    ReplyDelete
  62. There u go Jeremy just shoot it!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, that's the shot Lin can and should take more often.

      Delete
    2. Hopefully this shot will get him going.. He has no reason not to shoot..

      Delete
    3. Because opponents know Lin can drive in or dish out, that short jumper should be one of his bread and butter shots.

      Delete
    4. Agree! Lin definitely should take stop and go open shots.

      Delete
  63. Oh yes. Lin gets his shot finally

    ReplyDelete
  64. Can you imagine their starting Center gets no Rebound up to now.

    ReplyDelete
  65. McHale protecting Lin from 3rd foul.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Lin doesn't look good tonight, seem like no energy and dreaming.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Come on Lin, if you want to be an All-star you have to bring your "A" game every night. Lin sometimes looks lackadaisical; I think he celebrated Harvard's win too much.

      Delete
    2. Maybe it has something to do with his pre-game nap!? I find it rather risky.

I do make power-naps during the day and it works fine most of the time. But sometimes I wake up and I feel more tired :(

      Delete
  67. Tht was a blocking foul. Inside the circle!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think everyone knows that, except refs.

    2. I mean this rule can't be easier to enforce. WTH?

  68. Refs are making some bull crap calls tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Looks like he is having problem against Livingston.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. He's crazy quick and hard to guard if his shots are falling.

      Delete
    2. Livingston is a very crafty and smooth player. Lin cannot out-think Livingston.

      Delete
    3. Plus he can't be as aggressive with 2 fouls. Livingston obviously playing like he has something to prove.

      Delete
    4. It's Livingston people. You guys make it seem like Lin isn't smart enough to adjust or isn't capable of guarding him.

      Delete
  70. I don't get what the announcer is saying about asik's offensive charge inside the circle...

    ReplyDelete
  71. The Rox are hard to beat when del3no is on

    ReplyDelete
  72. Without w/o his old buddy Kyrie Irving. Lin is mighty disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Shaun Livingston bad mouthed Jeremy before he's traded to Cav...he's very determined to outplay Jeremy tonight.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. He's better than Jeremy and he should stay with the Rox. He lobbied some players to get the FO to keep him.

      Delete
    2. By the way, I don't consider Livingston a scrub. He's a pretty good player.

      Delete
    3. Lin sure needs something to fire'em up.

      Delete
    4. Do u have a link? Didn't hear anything when he was let go. Then again he's a nobody on a crappy loser team.

      Delete
    5. At the time, Lin was playing badly, so I don't blame Livingston for thinking he was better than Lin. A lot of people thought Livingston should be backing up Lin, not Douglas. I think the reason for letting Livingston go was due to money issue.

      Delete
    6. Livingston, if he was not horrifically injured, would probably be a star in NBA right now. Livingston still has some of the moves and athleticism. You saw him block Lin from behind, not many can do that.

      Delete
    7. I never read anywhere that Livingston bad mouthed Lin, so I would like to see the link also.

      Delete
    8. What is it with u and Livingston? No offense but he is an afterthought in this league. Lets not make him into kyrie,.

      Delete
    9. Agree w/ eb5. I like Livingston's game alot since his clipper days. I am amazed by his speed but often wondered why he's so under rated even before the injury.

      Delete
    10. S.Livingston was waived, not traded. my bad.

      http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--jeremy-lin-got-help-from-rockets--stars-to-tame--linsanity--beast-and-beat-the-knicks-065336972.html

"Sources said reserve guard Shaun Livingston often outplayed Lin in October. Sensing Livingston might get waived at the end of camp due to financial concerns, several Rockets players and coaches pleaded with management to keep him. A point guard controversy could've arrived if Livingston stuck around, but he was waived Oct. 29."

    11. Another "statistic" of Morey's statistical analysis? Not a good spot up shooter.. bla bla

      Delete
    12. There is another article on Clutchfan but I don't want to go there to search for it. That one sounded much worse than the one above.

      Delete
    13. All his teammates disrespected Lin as well. Well Livingston can go enjoy his place backing up kyrie. There is a reason he got waived... Freaking scrub.

      Delete
    14. Solidz75, you are being very unfair to a decent player. I just don't like your attitude. Also, there is no evidence that Livingston bad mouthed Lin at all. It was other Rockets' players who supported Livingston. What is it about you always wanting to cut down other players. If Livingston played one on one with Lin, I dare say Livingston might win a majority of them.

      Delete
    15. What is it with you loving Livingston. He is a nobody. That is my opinion. U act like I'm bad mouthing your family or something. I'm being unfair . Yeah whatever.

      Delete
  74. Rockets looked like they let up and became a bit too casual and a bit sloppy in second quarter after they established comfortable lead.

They looked really crisp on offense and defense to start game.

Wish they could maintain that type of focus till game is truly determined because good teams will make them pay (lose comfortable lead).

  75. Looks like I'm gonna be pissed watching this game, so I'll just stick to ESPN play by play.

  77. I don't see anywhere that Livingston bad mouthed Lin, but it seems some other Rocket players pleaded with the management to keep Livingston. See below. Livingston does not appear to me to bad mouth anyone, although he seems as if he has a lot of his pride in his game, and I think he's a good player.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--jeremy-lin-got-help-from-rockets--stars-to-tame--linsanity--beast-and-beat-the-knicks-065336972.html

"Living up to the Linsanity hype and recovering from knee surgery got to Lin early in Rockets training camp, sources close to the team said. The late addition of James Harden didn't ease things either. Sources said reserve guard Shaun Livingston often outplayed Lin in October. Sensing Livingston might get waived at the end of camp due to financial concerns, several Rockets players and coaches pleaded with management to keep him. A point guard controversy could've arrived if Livingston stuck around, but he was waived Oct. 29. "
