Not a good showing by JLin today. Maybe he was tired from a b2b. Good thing there are a few days of rest before playing against the Suns again at home. JLin will bounce back.
bad loss to a bad team..... and a real long time to see jeremy play again.anyway, paging KHuang, your insider report is much, much, much appreciated.
Expect a on slaught rant on officiating.
Disappointed Rockets lost, but can't say they didn't deserve to lose.I put this loss on all of the players collectively, including Lin, for all of the wasted possessions in first quarter when everyone was trying these extra fancy passes, instead of the simple ones McHale preaches, especially given that Phoenix still doesn't look like a very good team.It reminded me of Josh Smith in the closing minutes of regulation or overtime of recent Celtics vs. Hawks games. He tried this no look, behind the back bounce pass to cutter to basket which understandably was picked off by Celtics. As for Jeremy, pretty poor game. Shot wasn't there and he looked like his legs got really tired in fourth quarter (when he is fresh, even if he gets beat off dribble initially, he usually has springy legs and can get back in the play, either from side or behind player he was supposed to defend). Tonight he just seemed to fall back and not recover. Plus, IIRC, from YouTube videos of Rockets pre-season practices before he got picked up by Knicks, he seemed to have trouble keeping Dragic in front of him, even when he was fresh then. All of his passes getting picked off reminded me of Knicks vs. Celtics game during Linsanity, when knicks opened up big lead in second quarter, but Doc Rivers made adjustment after half time and clamped down on Knicks and Lin; all of players seem to sag a big off, waiting to pounce on Lin's passes, and maybe even bait him into attempting those passes.Lin will learn, so I am not too worried about that.Again, disappointed Rockets lost, but not really too upset because I think they (the players themselves) deserved to lose this game based upon how they started game thinking they are the Harlem Globetrotters.
Just tacking on: CP drove too much. Lin didn't drive enough. Dmo playing like a SF instead of a PF.
Joe, I've been enjoying your posts. On Lin on fourth Q, foul trouble, I bet he has more than he could handle (no help on his defense, etc).To your team loss point - what an atrocious series of what? 5 offensive rebounds in a row for Suns? Sheesh, I was thinking there goes another 4 point spread.
McHale asked if effort and concentration were issues tonight: "Yup, both."Asked of Rockets' tendency to play down to competition. Pattern? "I hope not." To grow out of? "Something not to do."McHale: "Goran made some big plays. We didn't execute very well. We didn't defend very well. Didn't take care of the ball. Didn't rebound."
Goran played poorly until the end. He made three plays. Got a screen and drove past Harden who is defending him and got into the paint and dished out for a three ball that went in. Made a transition layup against Lin. And made a difficult shot against Lin who took away his left. Before that, Goran was a non-factor in the game, had 0 assists before that.
Don't understand why HoChen had to sing his praises though, when he writes for CnsHOUSTON...
HoChen is an idiot, 'nuff said.
Rox offense always takes time to adjust to their opponent because their offense is all flow and no set plays. Just when Rox adjusted to Sun's starters, the second team came in and totally disrupted Rox up. This seems to be a strategy that opposing teams can exploit especially since McHell makes no adjustment to opposing team's adjustments. So, on a macro scale, Rox was out coached. This is just a game that the players' agility and creativity were not able to compensate for the lack of coaching.
Wait till the playoffs.. When u see each other over and over again in a short time, there will be effective adjustments made. I am not sure how this offensive set will hold up.. But my prediction is the top tiered teams will absolutely demolish the rox.
LOL who's advantage is it when you see each other over and over again, Rox's or the opposing team's? = D Not sure the other team will fall for McHell's misdirect to pretend to make adjustment but end up doing the same thing over and over again.
@Solidz75, I think everyone know ROX will not be good in playoffs.
The Rox are gonna play one of the top tiered teams in the league with much better defense. The advantage to the higher seed to begin with. Typically the teams have to adjust defensively as u figure out the other teams tendencies. Because Rox defense is not good, I don't think they will adjust to their opponents as well. On top of that, I don't think McHale is capable if making timely adjustments. We shall see.
That's why I think the team will be better with PP and MM. If all else fails, they can just make it a shoot out at OK Corral. Teams are afraid to play Houston in playoffs because of their explosive offense. Their offense now is definitely not as explosive.
Today is a perfect example that w/o a low post threat, we are not going any where. Driving and kicking can only do so much.
Yup Lin cannot do his reverse layup tonight cuz the lanes weren't open as there's no low post threat to attract the defense away from the paint.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Lin...was ineffective. He needs to FIRE his friend Josh Fan as his trainer. Please, get a real trainer instead of your 24 year old buddy. Harden can afford to have shitty defense. Lin on the other hand, cant. He has to exert extra energy on Defense. You can't have two crappy perimeter defenders.Lin, what happen to all your fancy scoring moves last year? He wastes way toooooooooo much energy driving to the rim with no where to go/no one to pass to. He'd have more energy if he was smarter with his drives.Fuck Dragic. Must be nice to get to play your position (once your coach got fired) and STILL have Mchale on your nuts, even after you've left HOU.
Yup lots of people on here are saying Lin is playing better this year. Sure, he's playing better conservatively. But, his ability to create shots is worse this year than last year. It might be the knee? But, the coaching has been molding him to do less creatively all year. I will always disagree with people who think Lin is better this year than last year.
Well, the way I see it, Lin and Harden were guarded heavily, 2 on 5 is not going to work if the other 3 does not put the effort. Our rebounding was terrible too, I guess Asik was too tired too.
Agreed. Lin's conditioning needs to improve signuficantly next year. He is expounding so much energy on defense that his offensive play is hurting as in this game. Who da hell is josh?
It's odd, given that Lin and Dragic have similar builds (torso), but IIRC, Lin in past has had trouble staying in front of Dragic. Jose Calderon of Raptors, too.Lin has trouble with the really small, agile guards like Isiah Thoms (Sacramento Kings) or even Squeaky Johnson (Austin Toros of D-League).I think it is something about opponent having ability to change directions on a dime.Lin may have fantastic acceleration (quick first step, long strides), but given his large frame, I think he has trouble staying with players who can change directions very abruptly. Fatigue probably accentuates that issue.I also remember a runner posting on these forums about running style of Harden and Lin, and how energy efficient Harden is, and how power consuming Lin's style is. I think it was balls of the feet vs. soles of the feet or something like that. but he said Lin's style was very much a power running style and consumes lots of energy, probably explaining why Lin can be pouring sweat and breathing hard after a few minutes of game, and James isn't breathing hard at all.
Lin's wasting energy on defense is cuz the rest of the team doesn't D up.So, it matters less that Houston is 2 on 5 on offense. But, 2 on 5 on defense is killer no matter how good your conditioning is.
Josh is his best friend, who is his trainer. Lin also had another trainer that did temp work with GSW but mainly worked for 24 hour fitness.
Joe: I think Dragic is hard to predict in terms of which direction he's going to go. Usually, Lin can read the body language of the guy's he's defending. He can tell which direction he's going to go. That's why he doesn't have to stick to his guy like glue like Bev does. He can just meet where his guy is going to go to. Dragic is much harder to read.
@Joe, I think that is done to experience, especially on the D side, To my own eye ball test, Lin overdo a lot of things, always on the highest gear.In terms of guarding opponents who can change direction quickly, he has to make sure his does not carried away by the first few steps. Once you got caught on accelerating too heavily to one side, you are doomed.
Yeah, usually Lin matches up really well defensively with other players of similar build (including Derrick Rose and that incredible block of Rose he had when Knicks played Chicago). But even when he was fresh early on in Linsanity, he always seemed to have a lot of trouble with Jose Calderon; Greivis Vasquez to a lesser extent. And I seem to recall I think it was YouTube video clips of Lin in practice vs Dragic and he always had a really, really hard time staying in front of him.Lin seems to be able to beat Curry off dribble pretty easily all the time too, so maybe just a bad individual matchup for Lin.
@Joe, this is the thing that can be learnt over time, it was my weakness too.
Appreciate everyone's knowledge and comments. I'm not as upset this game. I know they'll be ready next week against Phoenix. Lin disappears in the fourth (not just because mchale benches him) bc that's when Harden takes over but I don't think it has to be this way. Harden is a willing teammate and i'm sure he'd love to have a a partner in crime, especially in late game situations. What does Lin need to do differently? Does is it all revolve around his inconsistent shot?
@k.smith, I think Lin need to know how to play at a lower gear and stay effective at the same time. I mean, there will be always some nights that shot does not fall, we needed to improve other dimensions to win. When you are tired, you became slower, if you still try to penetrate deep with your original timming, you will only get trapped every time.
From what I saw at this game, Lin doesn't have to change a thing. The REFS did Lin in tonight. Even the hated McHale had nothing to do with Lin not having a great game. Plus the players were looking for Lin to make plays for everyone. It was infuriating to watch NBA refs cheating, though I saw it coming.
@KHuang, I agree with that, just saying what can be done on top of those. And, waiting for your court side report :P
Unlike driving guards like Rondo and Westbrook, Dragic is a shooter who has a quick release off the dribble. Lin needs to develop an defensive mindset of how much space he can give a shooter while still defending the drive. He also needs to be more active and hound Dragic to make him give up his dribble.
@Solidz~ JOSH FAN, Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Tx via. Is he just a friend or does he have real credentials..
A personal friend, for sure. Not sure about his training... [JLin's fam seem comfortable with him handling JLin's training...]
* His classes -> Not sure in what field.
@k.smith:I didn't like some of the Dragic gloating. He got some v good picks, and I didn't see Rox help when Lin was totally cold-cocked. Lin gets nothing like that form the Rox picks. Let's see how Lin pays him back Wed!I've written already, I have a new appreciation for how physically demanding Lin's role and play is, having read all the talk about b2b inconsistency and seeing one of his games up close. See if you can snag close seats for a good deal on stub hub. So, I wouldn't nail his friend/trainer because what's a guy need to do anyway? Run repeats, lift, stretch, ... it's not high end creative knowledge. Lin can use his friend as a steady base, and during off season, he can do the extraordinary stuff like visit high end training centers, get high end body testing, etc. That stuff is not hard for a guy like him to access, if Josh Fan or he is creative. It's a team effort now, because Lin is his own business as well as Rox's business. Do, I wouldn't stress too much he has any one person - he's in charge of his team now, and I bet he does a decent job. Give it time to gel ... it's only been one year for him.
I don't think its a conditioning problem, we've seen him lock an opposing PG down all game and still power through 36+. I think rather its he's not conserving strength when he should, because of the garbage rotations he plays all out when he's on court. Its like Kidd said about him, Lin only has 1 gear. That really hasn't changed. Part of the problem is also the coaching not drawing plays for him, so Lin is forced to create for himself, or sacrifice energy to draw defenders for an open Parsons/Harden/DMo/Asik.50% of the problem is the coaching. Lin is a consummate professional, and he'll always give his 100%. But Rox coaching doesn't really know how to use him, instead basically telling the team to "freestyle" and "move the ball" to find the open shooter or cutter. On defense, there really isn't a plan, so again, telling them to basically wing it on defense and help on anyone in the paint, with little rotation so they leave man open on the perimeter all the time. Its why teams like Spurs have such an easy time with Rockets, except when Lin's in charge because given the reigns his ability as a floor general covers all the flaws in McHale's system.
Well i agree, I think the way these coaches utilize Jeremy is not conducive to his game. Too often last night, I saw harden handling the ball. However, if Jeremy said publically that he supports the coaching staff them who are we to complain. ( reading about it is one thing but to actually see him talk about it.. I believe that Lin is going to accept the status quo)Guys playoffs or not McHale is NOT going to be fired. Morey continuing to rave about him after every win is a testament to that fact. The front office thinks that these Rox have overachieved this year - playoffs or not. He will be back next year.Lin will need to find a way to succeed within the structure if this offense. That is going to be a daunting task.
林書豪 Jeremy Lin 只攻下11分 輸了球賽 我超級不爽
He sounds like a whiner. = D
He is. :P
MCHALE POST GAME VS SUNS
Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_FeigenSince 85-86, only five teams have had 19 3-pointers and lost. The Rockets have had two of those games in last 2 weeks (tonight, at Wash.)
Rox has now lost road games to every team that is currently behind them in the Western Conference standings.
[by: Howard Chen]
Took down the Dragic article by HoChen bec it might be too annoying. Irritating that they print this [knowing the Lin vs Dragic/ Lowry thing] AND have a vid defending Harden...
GSW LOSE TO BUCKS.

LMAO awesome tweet, LOL!!!
Linsanity Rewind:Lin blocks Derrick Rose (Knicks vs. Bulls): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8zKjGgzGQw:)
Warriors also down by 8 to Milwaukee with 34 seconds left.
Lol. Clutchfan is soo predictable. Never seen a fan base hating on their player so much. But give it up to dragic for bringing it when it mattered. Lin gave them no reason not to miss their former player.
What did they say about Lin? I guess lots of ppl think we should keep Dragic?
Please don't bring their quotes here.
Don't go there. Same shit u'd expect .. Win or lose, it's one player. I see some Lin fans trying to defend Lin,.. Admirable but a lost cause esp on a night in having trouble defending his play.
Hi via:How do you put those active links into your post.Want to provide a Linsanity Rewind (Lin blocking Derrick Rose, then later stealing the ball from him from Linsanity run last year) to lift some of the gloom around here.Link I want to add is:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8zKjGgzGQw
Having to rewind to last year to get some cheer is just pathetic. Just move on, man.
I agree with occ. we care about Jeremy now. What he did last year will just frustrate us.
@Joe, someone shared THIS TUTORIAL.That's an awesome block+steal on DRose. :)
Fair enough. But I'd rather have Lin, Harden, and the other Rockets face adversity now and learn how to adjust to it when every game isn't critical, vs. cruising to playoffs, thinking they are a lot better than they are, and then have to adjust on the fly to looks they haven't seen before.Just need to squeak into that 6th seed.
The problem is, the team keeps making the same stupid mistakes on offense and defense. Leaving shooters wide open for 3's when trying to double team ineffectively. Not stopping the Pick n' roll. Passing the ball ahead blindly in transition (This is something Lin needs to work on, just because Parsons is running, doesn't always mean he can get the ball.)
Game Report:I sat in the upper level, directly behind the backboard so that I could view the game from a player's perspective. In the first quarter, Lin was DOMINANT. Goran Dragic got knocked out of the game by Lin. The Rockets were cruising. Then Beverley came in and he got horribly greyhounded. 2nd quarter featured more Beverley getting beaten. Jared Dudley came in and deliberately attacked Harden who didn't even pretend to defend. By the time Lin returned, the Suns had gained momentum. 3rd quarter featured Lin taking over. But then the FRIGGIN REFS started to cheat Lin with horrible calls. That there was the backbreaker because Lin was the catalyst. I counted 3 fake foul calls on Lin and at least 2 uncalled bodychecks as Lin drove in. Chandler Parsons and the other Rockets were bricking Lin's shots and losing his pinpoint passes. 4th quarter had Lin coming in early because Beverley was no match for Kendall Marshall (a player with absolutely no game who was made to look like an All Star by Beverley's horrid defense). Lin came in early, but Goran Dragic realized that Lin was being cheated and attacked. Hamed Haddadi sandwiched Lin in picks, and of course Lin got called for fouls. At the end of the game, Lin brutally hacked Dragic to stop the clock and the referees cheated Lin by NOT calling the foul. This is the first time I saw Jeremy Lin live. He absorbs a lot more uncalled foul contact than can be seen on TV. If he had been fairly officiated, the Rockets would have won by 20. Lin is BY FAR the best player on the Rockets. James Harden hogs the ball and shoots lots of shots, but his refusal to defend looks far worse live than it does on TV. I was also amazed at how rudimentary the offensive schemes actually were from where I was watching. And Goran Dragic is ABSOLUTELY NO MATCH for Jeremy Lin. Dragic needed the refs tonight to hold his own against Lin. It was brutal watching Lin handcuff Dragic and drive around Dragic so easily.
Can you see interrelations between coaches and Lin?
Thanks for the insight KHuang. Lin is here to stay. If they reach the playoffs and he is allowed to play his style they win possibly may reach the title game.
I think we need other teammates to setp up on D to reach the 2nd round.
Too bad the Rox had to lose first time you see them play in person, @KHuang...Thanks for the report [and any more than you might remember and want to add later.] :)Yeah, like Brent, curious about McHale too...
Thanks Khuang for the report..disappointed you didn't wave to us on screen.. Thought Haddidi played well for the SUNS .. scared a few Rox players from penetrating..
"Lin is by far the best..."Holy moly! You are truly dellusional. Say this in ANY sports forum and you will be laughed at to no end! Say that here.. and people will find comfort in you.? So sad! in a kind of creepy Pied Piper way too!
Well, we all know how ANY sport forum works anyway.
Thanks Khuang! Don't pay attention to people like Jorod Troo who only show up to talk shit.
I wish I was as high on Lin as u, khuang. I don't disagree with u on refs not calling the right fouls on or for Lin, not just this game but the entire season but there is really nothing that can be done about it. It is what nba is, and I don't know how one can change it. Lin is not getting calls and he just will have to find a way to not depend on getting fouled like harden does. But nothing changes the fact that Jeremy was not his usual self. He played bad like any player could. It was a second night on a b2b, an away game at that.. And at the pace he plays at having to play do hard on defense because his teammates are not helping.. No surprise his offense came out flat. I think dragics effectiveness in the 4th quarter was partly due to being in foul trouble.. He just couldn't be as aggressive in him as he wanted to. It sucks that we have to wait so many days until he has a chance to redeem himself, but in my view, Jeremy didn't do himself any favors tonight with this coaching staff.
Man this guy is as biased as they come.Did you really see the game live?
@desert_boot: I like KHuang's emphasis when he comments. It's a strong stake in the ground, and it reminds me not to be to gray when times call for black or white. You need that conviction sometimes to move the ball (McHale pun). We all need a friend like that sometimes. It just all depends if the real person has other modes, and anyway, we don't get too far on a fan blog.
@solidz75 - I'm looking forward to the days off for Lin, and to see how a fresh Lin adjusts and does against Dragic Wed. One of the announcers said this was Lin's first Suns outing, so there's going to be some good changes on rematch.up.
The problem with trolls in this board like jorod and desert is that they only see one side of the game - the box score. Me, I'm looking at the entire game - including what's NOT happening. It's all good. There's a lot more I saw at the game that I'm NOT writing about here.
I wasn't looking specifically at coach-player interactions. One thing i did notice: At halftime during warmups, the Suns went through a very disciplined layup and shooting line. The Rockets were just a bunch of guys messing around. Little coaching details like this have huge impact kn the game. It's why Jeremy Lin made many flex cuts and was completely ignored by teammates not out of jealousy, but because of lack of coaching game planning.
the problem with trolls is they show up ONLY during losses. why can't Jeremy fans have a little fun after wins and stuff the coward trolls? my guess is because trolls have zero basketball knowledge to back up their being trolls.
Ahh makes sense, Lin was probably just tired of the officiating, and no one commented on his defense of Dragic for 3 quarters until now. I didn't see the first 3 quarters, only caught the last 9 minutes when Lin looked visibly slow and Rockets were playing by talent not teamwork, I had thought game was Sunday. Thanks KHuang.
Lets see how Lin does in the rematch. If he steps up then at least will silence these haters. If he plays badly again, then ... Well..
2 step forward, 1 step back is still progress.First was a D-leaguer, then Lin was a fluke, then he was a scrub, now he's a below average "overpaid" starter...still progress! We know now that Lin will be around for a long time as long as he stays healthy. That is a very positive thing indeed.
@Bob C F Chan: I always like your ability to take the moment and abstract it to the big picture. For me, I'd like Lin to cruise through the rest of the season, have a good summer where he's not injured and building his base, and next year will be interesting times. As for this year ... it's clear they are in a groove or rut, depending on how you see it. They'll finish 6-8, 9 if they collapse, and they will have a hard first round in playoffs. Same with any of the 6-8 teams. I'm hoping Rox get Grizz. How much can they change big picture? To go beyond, McHale will have to figure out how to improve crunch time, b2b to reduce load on Lin, letting Lin have rock at key points, better rotations, and better D. That's all on coaching, so I think Lin should cruise now because I doubt if coaching can adjust with the time remaining.I'll cruise too ...
oh, and coaching have to figure out the new trades too. I'll interpret some strange rotations to that goal, but then, they will be unclear going into the playoffs on steady rotations, game situations, so the sooner the better. Expect some weird tries in the home stand.
I can see coaches trying to test line ups, I guess into the playoffs, rotation became tighter, starters (myabe not Lin) have to play 40+MPG, and only few working lineups will be used.
Thanks for the big picture assessment.True, Lin is in a good place compared to a year ago with no contract and dealing with Melo/Woodson/Dolan. But, this season is just so surreal because of McGrinch. It's like we're seeing Cinderlla's story unfold in reverse. First, Lin is the prince then becomes the jilted step son.
Thanks so much for the update and perspective. Is there anything that can be done about the poor officiating towards Jeremy in the future? Can the league review the game if the Rockets complain? How about if we flood the league office with phone calls and emails. It certainly impacts the integrity of the game as well as Jeremy's health if this continues.
They will simply say, this is part of the game. yeah right..
Someone should put together a video of all bad calls on Jeremy over the course of this season and post it on You Tube. Someone will take notice...Jeremy is a tough cookie. Hopefully his coaches and teammates all realize all the unfair calls he gets.
Lin's not going to get favorable officiating until he puts up All-Star level numbers. His impact on the court may help the team win games, but until his individual stats get gaudy, he's not going to get calls.
Mr Horse ... if I knew how to get the source vid inputs, for any of us with a mac, it would be easy. Anybody have ideas on how people get HD digital files? I don't have DVR, and I'd like not to have to join those download sites.
I've often wonder if they could institute a challenge system for coaches like they do for some other sports. The problem with any refereeing is that it is subjective. The best ones are the able to set out right away what is acceptable for both teams so that they know right away what they see as a foul and be consistent on both ends. You'll see that as pressure increases in the playoffs, the refs will swallow their whistles and let the teams play because good refs don't ever want to decide the outcome of the game. A team challenge may help the refs to review their own calls in order to see from a different perspective of what they see.The nba will probably never do it for the fans, but the players always complain about international refs in the Olympics, so the players may want to set a precedent this way to control bias officiating.
There was this one game where Lin got hit in the nose and got a nose bleed when he was taking the ball to the hole, but the refs didn't call anything. Rox had to call a time out to tend to Lin's nose bleed?
Anyone who watched the game would know that Goran was only able to score on the pick and roll (Which Rockets suck at defending) and free throws. Lin had to create his own offense most of the time. The only thing that makes me feel better is that GS Warriors lost at home tonight to the Bucks. But that only half makes me feel better because they still have a 1 game lead over the Rockets.
There was one coast to coast layup caught Lin off-guard. Perfect example of they were not communicating.
I noticed that Dragic got the same minutes as Marshall (29 min) and less than Dudley (33). I don't follow the Suns (because they are boring to watch), but can someone who knows this team say something about the minutes distribution?I got the sense that their second unit was doing well, so their coach just rode the hot hand and left them in there. By contrast, the Houston 2nd unit was absolutely awful -- weak defense, weak rebounding, and just chucking from 3.
Yeah, the 2nd unit couldn't do anything at all against the Suns 2nd unit which was outhustling them to rebounds and loose balls. So McHale had to bring in his starters just to keep score with the Suns bench, who by then were shooting lights out and couldn't miss. So one of the problems was that Lin had to do double duty defending Dragic AND his backup, while Dragic was rested.
McHale's 2nd unit is really flawed. Beverly can't run a half court offense, Garcia and Delfino are just perimeter shooters who cannot penetrate, Smith and Robinson need to be fed in the paint to contribute offense and Smith cannot anchor the interior defense. There is no consistent shot creator or playmaker in that lineup at all, so it just devolves to chucking 3s. That lineup is a disaster. I hate seeing them on the court.btw, for all the props that Beverly gets for his offensive rebounds, there is big price paid for that: he is so active in the paint that he does not get back in time to guard his man in transition. (Lin, by contrast, chooses to go back on D instead of attempting to hit the glass.)
Dragic got less minutes because Lin completely shut him down. He could not score against Lin, could not stop Lin, could not get anything done against Lin. Then the refs got sick of an Asian guy PUNKING a white guy and gave phantom fouls to Lin and let Lin get bodychecked and hacked on layups. The refs prevented Lin from playing legal defense and that's why Dragic suddenly became Michael Jordan in the 4th quarter. I was with somebody at the game. When Lin got the ball, I was like "Watch, he's gonna get ref cheated". EVERY TIME it happened. My gues knows nothing about basketball and was asking "Why is Lin getting bashed while the white point guard is being protected by the refs?"
TBH Harden gets fouled something terrible and didn't get ref's calls. If the officiating was fair, you'd get more Rox runaways but this is not good for tv or the home crowd who would disappear early. Tonight the whole team played poorly.
don't know if anyone post this yet!Calvin Murphy tells the truth
I think this posted before, but the problem still exists....
Magic Johnson said Harden & Lin are untrade-able!anyone notices it?
Almost all of the NBA teams thought that Lin was untouchable last year and look where he ends up.
SOME PICS - JLIN VS SUNS
@via, it's great to see you back. I hope being away for a while was refreshing, and I for one missed your posts.
I just came back from the game and I'll just share a brief report of what stood out the most from my recollection. Gotta go to bed now but I'll post pics and more observations tomorrow.I sat on the 2nd row behind the backboard close to the visitor bench so I had pretty good view of the coaches interaction with the players or among players although I can't see how plays developed because part of my left view were blocked by the backboard. And I spent time taking a lot of pics. The GameThe overall feel of the game had a promising beginning but just ran out of gas in the end. Harden was so bad in making plays in the beginning and kept making TOs but Jeremy seemed to be aggressive and getting his teammates involved. It looked like it will be an easy game for the Rockets but Beverley was so bad that it just felt like the Suns gained confidence to come back to the game by end of Q1. Bev just lost confidence in his 3PT shooting and did contribute a little in getting offensive rebounds.Noone could seem to make shots for the Rockets and they were at a loss of what plays to do. Coaches didn't seem to run any plays and they just resorted to Harden penetration and shooting.Delfino were great for some spurts and 3PTers.The 2nd team definitely didn't help the Rockets because Bev didn't dare to take 3PT shots, Greg Smith was so bad in defense once Asik went to the bench, there were so many holes that I didn't know where Greg Smith stood. Hamdadi shooting style was so bad that everyone knew he couldn't make midrange jumpshots or FTs. He can dunk and did a baby skyhook, though.Dragic elbow to the chin looked and sounded so devastating that it had to have impact on Jeremy. He came over so fast but I didn't know if Dragic quickly raised up to shoot to clear Jeremy from his space with his elbow intentionally.
Some random observations:- During warm-up, Jeremy was spending most time to do stretching exercise with 1 other player while other players just started shooting.- Jeremy was the first one to hop step to greet the second team during a timeout in Q1.- Sampson indeed gave friendly tap greeting Jeremy and another player after his good plays in Q1.- McHale called Jeremy then Harden on the sideline, possibly to clarify what plays they need to set up so they clearly were the floor leaders.- Harden D was so bad (8TOs in a game? It felt like more) - At one point during timeout, McHale talked extensively toward DMo after 1 bad play. On this very play, Jeremy talked to DMo that he shouldn't go to the corner- Jeremy did burn so much energy running around the floor horizontally on the offense to the corner and back to the top of the key. On defense, he can keep Dragic in front of him but if there were screens, Dragic just went too fast to the basket. Very similar style to Jeremy. Once he got inside, Dragic was very comfortable to shoot somewhat fadeway jumpers and not always attack the rim.- Jeremy did talk once with Parsons, then he also talked to Beverley, Garcia and AB as they sat with them on the bench.- It was painful to watch Jeremy iced his cut lip with a bag of ice.
Overall, Jeremy couldn't get his shooting going consistently and the Rox lax defense (Harden, G. Smith, TOs) just gave momentum and space to the Suns. About Jeremy shooting, his form didn't feel consistent if he waited for the ball to come as a spot-up shooter. The ball just missed a little to the left or far or too hard. Fatigue could be a factor from playing tiring D and back-to-back game. But if he quickly went up straight and balanced to shoot, it just looked good. Finally, I got a sense Jeremy is still not comfortable playing this style of offense when the first open shooters will have the freedom to launch 3ball. My son tried to get high five but Jeremy didn't lookup as he probably didn't think he played well enough as he wanted to. He did get a high-five from Parsons so he was okay with that :D My younger son was a bit upset 'cause he didn't get Jeremy's signature (noone got it) to show his friends at school but he calmed down a bit later on.Oh well, if the April game is not a back-to-back game, I might go to watch again although it's a bit depressing to watch in this system, especially on the nights Lin couldn't be ball dominant or have consistent shooting because he really played so hard on O and D. I got to tip my hat to him for expending so much energy on both ends of the floor. Hopefully the Rox wins next so my boys and I will get a high-five :D
BTW, Harden really had the knack of drawing fouls from defenders while getting to the rim, his 3PT shooting form was almost perfect with the ball straight in the middle, perhaps just a bit short or long.
Thanks psalm. Good observations. I think u nailed on the head about Jeremy being so tired expanding so much running and defending. His teammates will need to help him on D so that Jeremy can learn to balance his energy in both ends if the floor. He just can't go 100% all the time it he will just tire himself out. As we predicted, Jeremy's poor play in b2b games continues. He has been consistent with that trend this year.
Thanks for the report, @psalm! These 1st-hand accounts really do show a side of the game one just doesn't get from watching off a screen. Sorry to hear about the high 5/ autograph...perhaps next time around...:)Looking forward to your pics!
nice one @psalm! felt bad for your boys though.I hope they get a high five and autograph from Jeremy next game.looking forward to seeing your pics!
Now that's a real in-game report, many thanks for taking the time and effort to post all that. Wonderful to see regular people turning out for a game that many people would probably never see in real life, shame your boys didn't get the autographs!I think Jeremy plays at full speed because he probably believes his youth is an advantage he should use while he still has time on his side. Once you hit old age and had experienced injuries, your body will start to tell you to hold the reign, play smarter and use it wisely.I don't believe he is sacrificing his body anymore than other 1st/2nd/3yr players, who would often go coast to coast for the jam at every occasion if possible (aka westbrook, harden etc).As for the loss, its all on the inexperienced coaching staff, not being able to use the lineup and substitution routine more effectively to even out the energy and workload among all players. The 2nd team is a big worry, the talent and competitive level is not deep enough. Also, I really think McHale is more of a pre-game coach than an in-game one.
@psalm234: thanks for your nice share. The part about the sound on the elbow was good to know ... on LP I couldn't tell either if it was on purpose. How I relate to this game was seeing Lin's energy output up close at GSW, and with all the posts here, I'm understanding how unique Lin's game is. He puts out so much energy getting the offense going for everyone except Harden, playing real D, and getting to and back from the corner that I can now understand why people knock him on 2nd of back-to-backs. It's legit - I wouldn't think too many top end athletes can do that either. To further that ... I'd never seen a pro bball game up close before, and when I did, I learned that it's a much tougher sport than street or gym ball, and it's more physically demanding than pro soccer. It's not as hard as rugby, though. It might be right there with pro-indoor soccer. The amount of physical force in the body-up, the contact, and getting nailed by picks (and hearing the sounds) ... quite humbling. I can't say I've ever play ball as hard as those guys, in all the years of gym ball because when you don't have a ref, you're going to get into fist fights if people hit you that hard. So, I wouldn't expect Lin to be able to play back-to-backs unless he gets some more team D and he's around more people who can handle the ball and give him some easy offense too. From now on, no high seats for me - TV is fine for that. I'm only going to try for affordable stub hubs when the chance comes up, nearer to the action because it's so different. To your comments on my post game, I didn't take notes. I like to have little mental pictures to remember things, and I sometimes get it wrong (for example, it wasn't Jack who knocked Lin down, but Green. It was a really hard hit and Lin slammed the floor.) @via, I'm still going to uplaod pics and vids ... just no time this weekend. On the chance to hi5 Lin and get his autograph, sorry your kids were disappointed. You're a good parent for given you kids the chance to see. How does that happen? Do you hang around on the floor and try your luck, or do you hang out after the game and did Lin come out? I noticed in @via's link for GSW that Lin was out with his white T and backpack greeting fans after, and had I known that, I'd have stuck around. Would be nice if there's a next time, to get a photo with a shout out to his crew. Anybody else can snag on in upcoming games?
thanks everyone. It was a great blessing to watch games in person. I asked my sons about his first impression of watching games up close and the older one said the size of the players. Asik, DMo, Lin were huge! He thought Asik on TV looked like me (5'10") :)My younger son said the announcers were so loud in announcing the number of fouls. My wife said it's weird to root for the road team because we used to root for Steve Nash.Gotta go to church now so I'll try to upload pics tonight. I'll ask my friend and her 2 boys who might get a chance to go to the locker room to meet Jeremy because she was neighbor with the Suns staff. I'll share if they did :)
Thanks Psalm234, Nash was the reason why I rooted for Pheonex as well even though I'm not a local. Just wondering if the pace of play was too fast for the tire legs of the Rox tonight. If they live by the run and gun, they're going to run into problems with back to back all the time. Playing defense is hard work because you really have to be on your toes. On offense, you have control so you can deliberately take a defender down to first gear before exploding by them; besides, it's just so much more fun to play offense. Mchale should have noticed the trend already and prepare the team for a much slower pace of play and make their opponent's work more on defense to equalize their legs a bit.
Thanks for adding the "color" to what we can't pick up on TV such as Dragic's elbow, Lin's stretching, team camaraderie, and the overall fatigue that is plaguing the team.Other than that, gotta agree with your assessment regarding the team's performance last night regarding the TOs and ineffective 2nd team. Can't wait for your pics!
thanks pslam! your boys will get and should get a high 5 and autograph next time!
Yes, Lin, repent and send Psalm autographed color pics NOW!
Kinda off topic:I saw the news about Amare being out yet again to a knee injury. Besides feeling really bad for him, it got me thinking about Lin.I knew there are a number of people here who like Mike D'Antoni's coaching and wish he was still Lin's coach. But I am actually thankful that Lin now didn't need to be run into the ground every game by D'Antoni.Under D'Anthoni, Lin might have more early success in his career. But as a Lin fan, I would rather prefer Lin to have a long, healthy, productive career than a great but short one.Jason Kidd was right, Lin needs to learn to pace himself and change gear in games. You simply couldn't play at one full speed gear for all the time to have a long, healthy career with certain body types like Lin.
Good points, Cara. I feel the same way that although we might feel deprived of Linsanity style but Jeremy also needs to learn to play like Dragic. Very similar style but now I can see Dragic has learned to finish very well around the rim. When Dragic was backing up Nash a few years ago, he was very inconsistent and never sure on how to finish around the rim. I believe Jeremy can benefit much by watching Dragic's evolution over these years.Jeremy is more fearless than Dragic so he might retire from the NBA early if he plays in D'Antoni style without restraint.
Cara, psalm ... maybe it's this underdog syndrome. Maybe Lin can let the system move him ahead now, since he really is in it for a long time to come based on what he's accomplished for the league already. When people accept their accomplishment, they can get to the next level by lowering their drive on everything and focusing on keeping the wheel spinning smoothly.
Although I said Lin still can improve on some aspects of his game (pace control been one of the most important one). I think particularly about yesterday's game, it is more like a complete system failure and coaches can not made adjustment in time (Maybe they did not implement enough play for the crunch time, coaches, that's on you).Yes, Lin can learn to change gears and improve his shooting, but I doubt that will carry this weird team going forward far.
Heh I definitely do NOT want Lin to go to Lakers and do NOT EVER WANT D'Antoni as Lin's coach EVER again.I'm serious, Harden and Lin are playing the same roles but in different time. This year is basically Harden's Linsanity, he is being run to the ground. I think he knows and is purposely not playing defense so he doesn't burn himself out like Lin did, and make defense Lin's problem.Lin is being forced to play Harden's role last year...Forced to play with another ball hog guard with crappy defense.
Agree with JoeTeam last year was underdog syndrome as well as having a thin bench. Doubt Dantoni would ride Lin like he did last year had they played a full season with a decent bench.
[JLIN GSW POSTGAME][INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM WITH JLIN - taiwaneseamericanorg]
It just boggles me why JLin can be so inconsistent. I'm so tired of trying defend Lin now. I don't post here often because it's like preaching to the choir as they say. I post more on ESPN forums defending Lin. I know he thinks he plays for God and only answers to God but damn the fans still pays for your 25 million salary dude. I'm done with following Lin until he shows some guts and consistency. I'm out. See you when Lin actually plays to his potential like I know he can.
Lol if you are out, you are out. No need to tell everyone. And please don't come back!!
Agree with cara! Bye!
Hey xav ... please read my post game from GSW ... Lin can't put that much physical force out ... I don't think any athlete can do that. It's like having a decathlon, but with people hitting you and bending your joints 2 nights in a row. For Lin, it's unique. He's doing a lot more than most other folks. I don't watch enough Kobe to know if he's in the same output class, but I can't think off the top of my head anybody else who has to do that to play his role. For sure, Harden doesn't have as much contact or workload during any game, 40 mins notwithstanding.Anyway come back when you feel better about it. It's all cool, how you feel.Other thoughts:- KHuang's stance on refs - for sure Lin would have less hard knocks and easier offense if he got better calls.- another thing I noticed in the GSW game was another way refs can influence game outcome by 2-8 points a game. One play inbounds, Parsons was complaining to the ref because he was not giving him the ball, and Lin was waiting for it for a break. The ref pointed to a guy toweling the floor next the end-line, and while it was legit, there was no reason for it because tons of NBA play happen as people are cleaning the floor with the break going the other way. So, we don't see it, but the refs can effectively stop 2 or 3 points anytime that way, and they did in that case (maybe on accident).
No need to hate on him because he is frustrated. He is just venting his frustrations.
I share his frustration. The games been sucking since 3 games before the trades and been increasingly sucking ever since. Iso Harden is back, Inappropriate minutes, stat padding, inflexible free flow aka NO FLOW offense, everything is back. Lin's bad game last night is just icing on the cake.
i don't think he is just venting his frustrations. There's really no need for this! cara is 100% correct. "I don't post here often because it's like preaching to the choir as they say" then why you post then? and who said? really. nobody ask you and force you to post. so many silly people show up after lose game.
Y'all remember this. The boy can't shoot, can't defend, and was tryin to hit the homer up the wazoo with them TOs. Yea don't say nuttin about Harden's TO, he's scoring and dishing, unlike TO boy Lin who can't pass. Got more TOs than assists WTF. When coach bench the boy again in future games, don't get all riled up and remember Lin is a maggot of a PG and stunk up the place, he's a waste. Recognize, the boy is too damn streaky. He lucky he even a starter period. Look at yáll with them lame ass excuses here.
get this disgusting maggot outta here. can we ban this POS bastard?
Conditioning? Referees? WTF Y'all alwayz come up with some dumbass excuses after a dumbass Lin performance. Y'all some lame bozos here.
ah, the poor bastard named Razzle Dazzle who was sown without love in this world.... tsk tsk.. you should't have been born, world doesn't benefit with you around...
It aint all but the truth the boy can't play good all the time. The coach needs to put the boy on the bench and play PB as the starter. Can't take the real talk from me and wanna ban me. Cry babies.
we don't accept a ghetto like you here...
Yea Lin can't play ghetto he better GTFO the NBA. He a weak boy.
Tell the boy go play in CBA. NBA aint for him.
sorry Razzle Dazzle, the boy is being paid more than your your sorry behind can earn playing a game he loves. I doubt YOU actually earn 10/100th of the money he does. on top of that he is liked by many people. you? well you're just a ghetto will amount and is good for nothing
your posts and your hater attitude of I-DON'T-LIKE-THIS-GUY-SO-I-WILL-HANG-OUT-AT-HIS-FAN-SITE really tells something that you don't have a life.. you don;t even post any actual basketball insight in here..
If he aint going to CBA ship the boy to D league where he belongs and he can be king, like Lebron is the king of NBA. Lin can be king of D league.
if you ain't doing anything stop being a bum and earn actual money than Jeremy does. stop living on your mom's basement...
I get min wage and live in my ma's basement but Lin is still a clown. He aint ballin and still need to go CBA.
What are you Lin's mistress he wished he never had. He aint gonna marry you so take it ez girl.
typical ghetto life and brain. not impressed. come back here when you actually grow some balls and earn at least 1/10 of Jeremy's money.
I don't need to verify my connection with Jeremy to a POS hater like you. I just want you kicked out of this board and never to see your ugly, pathetic mug in here
You aint earn 1/10 of Lin's money so why you talkin.
You a fan high on bath salts that your connection.
@IsabeliJane, why were you even taking to this guy?
got my biz ;) you're a hater so why you talkin.. I can already hear other posters here now saying: stop feeding the troll. so bye bastard troll...
She talkin to me cause she cant take the real talk that's why Brent boy.
@Brent Yen - can't help it. I'm irritated right now so I'm not backing down from this... anyway, I'll stop. He won't like it :) can we ban this guy please.
Got your biz. It still aint 1/10. Bye bye Lin's lover.
bye bye troll who still suckles on his mama's lap..
You can come my house and suckle on you know what. I'm more accessible than Lin.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! show your face during Houston's wins... let's see if you're brave enough...
RazzleDazzle: I do not think you belong to this JL Fan site...Nothing constructive but quite detrimental remarks.I believe you are a despicable person.
he will show up again after a loss... seems like forums for Jeremy Lin Haters don't have space for him anymore.
I love you razzle..you are hilarious. You remind me of Chris Brown except that you were probably the guy that took my order from Macdonalds this morning. I have to admin though ..that was pretty funny..king of the D-League..hahah.
I actually meant Chris Rock. You da bomb Razzle!!
Obviously, Razzledazzle has lots of time on his hands and does not spend it very productively. He goes on to a fansite for someone of whom he is not a fan. When you look up the word "pathetic" int he dictionary, you will see razzledazzle's face. He also does not seem very intelligent. Anyway, no more time to waste on this idiot.
So stupid! But I see what he trys to trigger here. No body mention hardens TO yet you mention. Thanks for pointing out he is a TO machine.
How did this douche found a way to escape from his hole? Go back to the other infested GARM where you belong you maggot's testicles!!!
Hey peeps don't feed the trolls, thanks.
Razzle is hilarious...Oh well the trials and tribulations of being Lin fans. I hope out boy Jeremy steps up his game ... Or we can expect to see more haters to come out of their hiding..
It's true that Lin had probably his worst game of the season and so did the Rox. Some of us are sugar coating it a bit thick, and this gives people like razzle some fodder against this board.
You right. BTW Lin need cough up that 25m he stole from Rockets and give it to CP. CP need give Lin the 800k and send that boy to D league. NBA is rigged.
Aha! Now I get why you're here, RazzleDazzle. You're a CP lover jealous of Jeremy's contract. Oh well. I'm sure there's a CP fansite somewhere in this vast universe. Go find one. Or follow J.Friedman on twitter. He's gay for CP just like you. Happy trolling. :)
And, Razzle, you're getting carried away. = P
If there's no CP fan site, Razzle can just join a Biiber fan site.
Guys RazzleDazzle is a perfect example of an ignorant fool. This is probably how most un-educated people think about Lin without providing any statistical evidence to backup what they're saying. Their opinions about Lin are based on racism and their own bias. It's pointless to argue with this person with any type of logical information. Their hate and ignorance won't be able to comprehend what you're trying to tell him.
in lieu of Jeremy's conditioning post above, maybe he could try YOGA like Kareem/Iggy/Blake G./Kobe or BIKING like LeBron
They have quite different body build. Wondering if it is sutable?
Jeremy should try Kobe's Sugar Free diet. That's what really make Kobe 10 years younger than his current 34th. He start this diet on this summer with Steve Nash's guidance. And it's really kicking for him. I start the same diet one month ago. Loss 1 bl every other 3 day and feel so good that never get tire like before. Damn, how come I didn't start this diet 10 years ago. It will really make my career different than what I am right now. Lakers star Kobe Bryant continues to feast, thanks to diethttp://www.dailynews.com/ci_22718729/lakers-star-kobe-bryant-continues-feast-thanks-diet?source=most_viewed
LOL I swore Kobe was on PED that's why he's jumping like he's 24. Perhaps the sugar free diet is the answer?I was on a gluten free diet last year, and it was really effective... sorry for the tangent. = P
Jeremy Lin will get his revenge on Wednesday, don't count him out.. It was one game and Dragic took advantage of the Suns lead and Lin's foul trouble.. I wouldn't say Dragic dominated Lin because during the 1st 3 quarters Lin burned his ass!!!
So what is up with this losing to weak team thing? Are they letting their guards down because they think their opponent is "weak"?
Cuz Lin is a weak boy.
way much stronger than you! for all you know is doing something like this on internet. To make yourself stupid.
Lin strong boy in D league.
and you are a weak boy no matter where you are!
and an annoying no love from anybody idiot no matter where you are.
Lin strong boy in CBA.
Lin strong boy in WNBA.
Who better Lin or Sue Bird?
admin, just removed that guys! His intention is weak and polluted. There's no reason to let this guy to continue his silliness. He should direct to take his idiocy somewhere else!
just removed every silly posts he post, until he can't post. there's no reason to tolerate his silliness on this site! I rather to take some "meaningful" flame and troll than this idiocy he is doing.
