    1. I would say one thing he needs not to improve in the off season is acting.

But at the end, Jeremy Lin's most meaningful impact might not be in basketball. God has his own plans.

    2. @KH wants him to flop/ act more. :)

  2. Jeremy is awesome as a person and I think that will serve him well as a player. I am not the admin here so I can't control what people said anything. But I wish people would just be more appreciative of who Lin is and less who you want him to be.

going around HOU forums is always depressing. HOU fans make it really hard for me to want to support them. They're worse than Etane, who acts like a jaded, obese 40 year old virgin that can't get laid, so he acts out his frustrations on here.

    1. Lol why can't you learn from Lin, just to ignore what everyone said about him and even laughed them off?

Part of being a fan is look up to their idol and learn their best quality. Pretty sure Lin won't do the other way around and become egotistical, selfish and hate on everything like his "fans" or "haters".

      Delete
    2. Lol. I think Etane will less upset when he read this line " They're worse than Etane".

      Delete
    3. It's impossible to ignore haters that target US specifically.

If they're not beaten back, they multiply in force and number.

This board is kept CLEAN by Asian American guys like me fighting back against racist BS.

      Delete
    4. To be honest, my impression of Etane's posts is not that of a troll, more likely a teenage girl who applies her self centered ness on Lin.

      Delete
    5. KHuang, it's good and all to fight back haters on this site. But complaining about haters of the other sites on this site is unnecessary IMO. Also of course haters are usually louder than fans. A group of Houston Lin haters don't represent all Houston fans and it's unnecessary to hate on all Houston fans and the Houston Rockets team for that specific group of people. Anyways just my opinion.

      Delete
    6. You're damn right it's depressing to visit other sites and see Lin get routinely dismissed as a bust or whatever. Which is why I'd really appreciate it if the leftist whackjobs here would stop shoving their political opinions down the rest of our throats.

For the last time, this is an American website about a basketball player. Not only do political discussions that have nothing to do with bball or Jeremy Lin have no place here, but remarks equating Americans with Nazis, etc., are just downright CLASSLESS and even EVIL.

What could possibly motivate anyone here to turn this site, which is supposed to be our only refuge from Lin haters, into another hostile place for a Jlin fan?

      Delete
    7. The thing is that Jeremy Lin is never afraid of haters. He accepts the criticism and never let them affect him and let his action, not words, speak for himself.

If you are a Lin fan, you learn from him to "handle" the haters.

      Delete
    8. I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with your impression based on months and months of history with that guy, Cara.

I'm not going to get into it here, though. I respect Etane's basketball knowledge, regardless of what he writes here about me.

      Delete
    9. The trolls are targeting Asian American males here, Cara.

My DECADES of racial combat have taught me very hard lessons about how ignoring them causes your enemies to multiply in number and strike harder at you.

You must understand, Cara, that what goes on here is CHILD'S PLAY to the outright WARFARE Asian American men like me and Lin face in the real world. Enemies are emboldened when you ignore them.

    10. @fanforlife, if you are refer to willydilly's comment, i read his post, I don't think that's not all what he really means in your words . On the other side, I also read what you wrote.

    11. This is a great place and I love the enthusiasm for LIn. There are plenty of sites eagerly waiting for Lin to fail. Inbreds like Etane can go there.

      Delete
    12. This is the only site that is truly OBJECTIVE about Lin's on court accomplishments.

If Lin were any color other than Asian, he'd be absolutely celebrated as the point guard of the future based on his skills alone.

I post here because all other forums are too blinded by anti Asian hate to be able to see Lin as exactly what he is: the most dynamic two way guard in all of basketball!

      Delete
    13. Wow didn't know I was so popular here.

Cara, I am not a girl. I am a guy who's a few years from 40. I am not obese though. Pretty sure my parents weren't related, so I am not inbred.

For the rest of the forum, please enlist and join Khuang's war against those at war against Asian American men.

I am proof that Asian American men are not effeminate despite my teenage girl crush on Jeremy.

  10. Really like the video. I'm still amazed at Jeremy's desire to spread a positive message at such a young age. I may have come for the Asian-American NBA player, but I stayed for the humble human being with a good heart. If Linsanity had revealed Jeremy to be yet another all-about-me NBA star, I would have left, Asian-American or not.

For those wishing Jeremy would be more selfish, complain to the media, etc, please realize that's not who he is. This is how he got here, through hard work and a positive attitude. He's made it this far against all odds, and while his current situation seems once again very unfair, he's going to overcome the same way, through hard work and a positive attitude.

    2. This may just end-up as a 3pt shootout, but w/out Fino the Roxs will be on the short end of the stick. This is one of those games you just gonna have to let that one guy get his shots and stop the rest. I don't know if JLin can really fluster Steph. Steph is great shooting off the dribble and doesn't need much opening to shoot. Aside from Steph, there are obviously Lee, Bogut, and Klay to contend with--GS also have depth on the bench. They're really a balanced team with both interior and perimeter presence. Mark Jackson will have his squad run a lot of cuts and curls to the basket. There will be a lot of shifting on defense and the Roxs really need to pay attention on reading screens and rotate on defense. I'm not so worry about transition D in this game, but the Roxs zone and man defense will be tested. The only real advantage for the Roxs in this game is home court. If they can win this game, it will be badass.

      Delete
    3. Also, the Roxs need to box out hard for defensive rebounds. DLee has a tendency to look for put backs and work like energizer bunny in the block. 2Pat and Morris, yeah looking at you two.

      Delete
    4. Harden will need to shine on defense today. I'm looking for an all out assault from the bearded one.

      Delete
    5. If I were the Warriors, I would attack Harden's D for sure. Harden is too lazy and not quick enough to fight through those screens to cover Klay.

      Delete
    6. From what I watched the previous few games, more and more teams have discovered that Harden is the weakest link on D for the Rockets. Some just couldn't take full advantage because they started non-scoring SGs. But between Klay, Jack and Curry, the GSW have the personnel to exploit this main weakness.

      Delete
    7. This comment has been removed by the author.

      Delete
    8. Yeah, Harden really needs to pick up his D today. Klay is a good shooter, but he doesn't finish well at the rim; however, Klay will run through multiple screens to try to get open. So yes, Harden will be tested as well as the entire team. If he or whoever can't fight over screens, just remember to call out and communicate to your teammates to switch.
The Roxs just needs to recognize beforehand what play(s) is developing and be ahead of the play. I think this is where JLin plays an important role in orchestrating the defense. Whatever he sees he will need to vocalize it so everyone is one the same page--I'm sure he's doing it now. It's a hard job to do, but who else is more fitting than JLin.

      Delete
    9. I am not worried about Lin one bit. Guy is competitive as hell and will not do bad against his former team for sure.

      Delete
    10. I think JLin has that extra motivation and incentive to beat GS as much as he has when they played the Knicks this season. I wouldn't be shocked if JLin has a great game.

      Delete
    11. I don't think DLee will flagrant Jlin like Chandler will though.

      Delete
    12. Really looking forwards to this match up too as GSW is my fave team while Jlin is my fave player.

Can't add too much to what Racha said except I'd keep an eye on how well Lin's teammates will help Lin out on PnR defense. PnR rotation on D will have to be tight or Lin is going to get winded really quickly chasing Stephan through the picks.

Once Lin is winded, the game is pretty much over.

[Cousins ejected after an argument with the ref at halftime.]

According to NBA TV, Cousins now possesses a league-leading 12 technical fouls. Once he reaches 16 technical fouls, Cousins will be subject to a one-game suspension. A similar suspension is assessed for every two technical fouls after 16 as well. Cousins also became the first player to be ejected three times this season.

    1. If DeMarcus Cousins became available to the Rockets, I'd arrange for a closed door tryout before signing him.

Cousins has learned how to play in the post, which elevates him way above most so-called "big men" in the NBA. He also plays hard and actually has a vibe to his personality that I like. For whatever reason, I as a ref would NOT have thrown him out for that comment.

What concerns me about Cousins is his sheer fundamental makeup. Can he step out and set a proper screen, then roll the right way? Can he make a flex cut, then suddenly turn and make a backdoor postup, and then make the right decision whether he gets the ball or not? If his role is to step in and stop somebody, does he know how to do it and will he pout if he doesn't get touches?

Those kinds of questions, among others, are the kinds of questions I would be looking to answer. I'm also pretty sure that a two hour tryout with an assistant coach and a few D leaguers would quickly show what Cousins could do and what he would be capable of doing in the future.

    3. Yes! Let's all mark Feb 4 as Linsanity day and celebrate it! This year, it's quite close to Chinese New Year, double celebrating.

    1. I don't think JLin's recent ankle sprain was on the same side where he had a meniscus tear. It was a right ankle sprain I thought and his knee issue is the left. Anyways, get an ankle brace, tape it up, new shoes, or whatever. Just stop turning it.

      Delete
    2. So it has been the right ankle. I think it was right, left, right. His knee issue is on the left. Wow, it's gotta be the shoes! I don't recall JLin spraining anything last season.

Morning update: Jeremy Lin (ankle) taking part in shootaround. No Delfino (elbow) however. More info on both once workout wraps up.

Jeremy Lin says ankle is alright and he's good to go tonight.

    6. We should ask JFried to ask JLin if he's hung over?

    7. Ouch, via. That ankle turn brought painful memories right away.

I believe this is the 3rd time the sprain happened this season on the same ankle so it could be reoccuring throughout the season.

I'm torn between watching him play what should be a good game vs GSW and him getting some rest so Rox fans can see how much the Rox would miss him in games.

Sometimes people have to miss good things for a while to learn to appreciate it. The Rox "motor" blew up with 38pts in Harden's absence, let's see how Harden fares w/o Lin, ya' know?

    8. @psalm ~ Don't know what you got til it's gone. [temporarily]

    9. Oh how's your ankle @psalm? All good now?

    10. my ankle is fine, @via. thanks for asking. It's the torn ACL that retired me for good from playing competitive basketball :D

great to see you back posting again!

    11. @psalm234,
I'm torn between watching Jeremy plays in the GSW game tonight and Harden runs the offence sans Jeremy. Maybe absence makes the heart grow fonder - for both Haren and Jeremy fans as well? :)

      The post above, @psalm.

    14. Psalm, but Lin is not the kind of person who will fake and exaggerate an injury in order to "prove a point" as you might want. If he's good to go, he's good to go. If he's not okay, he would sit it out, like last year's playoffs. He's competitive and smart.

      Delete
    15. true, Cara. I don't think he's the type to intentionally sit down even with not 100% healthy ankle because he wants to give his team the best chance to win to make the playoffs.

I'm just looking at the silver lining if the coaches decide to rest him (unlikely for sure)

yeah, janelin. it'll be nice for HardLin fans to appreciate that they need each other to make the playoff.

NOONE here thinks you're overposting, via :D

    20. he should wrap his ankle before game...its kinda important not to ignore it

i think we are all just appreciative, just as we are of linsanity. like linsanity, do watch out for yourself? (and again like JLin, i trust you will manage well).

    3. JLin didn't spot the giant!

    4. Who's that little boy standing next to Yao, LOL!

    5. Yao's response on what it would be like playing with Harden was funny. He said I'll just be taking 10 shots away from him! Yao understands the NBA superstar mentality.

      Delete
    6. Yao is so efficient on offense it will be treason if he doesn't take more shots. Yao will probably be the first option and not Harden.

  34. On why Greg Smith didn't play~

Jason Friedman: McHale said he wanted to give Aldrich a chance after Greg had couple of poor games on defensive end.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah, Smith has issues with PNR defense in particular. Smith tends to lose his guy defending the PNR. He uses his hands to hold rather than move his feet to get in position to defend. Hence one reason he fouls a lot. Yeah, we need to have better backups for Asik on defense. If Greg is having issues, I guess there's no other choice but Aldrich.

      Delete
    2. Actually, Yao's there. Perhaps Mchale/Les/Morey can ask Yao to play one game so we wont need Aldrich or Smith.

      Delete
    3. Good point on Racha. Doesn't Yao still owe the Rocket's one more year of service since he sat out the last year of his contract due to injury?

    4. Etane, LOL, I wish. Yao knows how to play Bogut. Actually, Yao would spank him.

    1. So it's the left and not the right ankle and he stepped on someone's foot. As long as he's not turning it on his own I suppose there's not that big of a concern, whew.

      Delete
    2. Its a relief that it doesn't sound like it is linked to previous injuries.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, I was getting concerned.

      Delete
    4. I can imagine GSW fans holding their breath every time Steph Curry tweaks an ankle. We don't want JLin to have a similar concern!

      Delete
    5. I used to sprain my ankle a lot when I was younger playing basketball. Eventually, I never did again. You have to learn to be aware of how you step. It seems crazy, but you can learn to step lightly so you're ready to collapse if your foot ends up in an awkward position. The mind is really quick enough to handle it, but you've got to practice the awareness, like zen. An athlete should practice total body awareness throughout the day, even in regular life. You have to be self-conscious and move deliberately. Try to flow and glide. It prevents all sorts of injuries, during training, sport, and life. I started doing it when I was about 13 or so. I guess if you don't pick it up young, you may never do it.

      Delete
    6. Yeah, exactly. Grant Hill is a good example. Hill had one of the quickest first steps when he played for the Pistons. He was a star but his chronic ankle problems messed up his career. I dont know how many surgeries he had on the ankle.
