who says JLin's marketability is on the decline? you need to contribute $10,000 to get an autographed Jeremy Lin Rockets jersey! for a good cause, it's worth it!
Idk, JLin's signature cost more than Magic.

SI: The best of the Christmas kicks
My kid enjoyed this post , via. He has a fascination with kicks. And it's draining my pocket...lolThanks again ,nosy , nosy woman. lol...
@chan c - Doting dads are so awww-inspiring...^^ Glad your kid liked this post. [I'd not do them so often and try spare your pocket haha.]
@via , We enjoy watching your video links and posts together. It's sort of our bonding moment. He's equally inspired by our boy , JLin and learning a lot from the bball analysis here. I'm just supporting his love for the game (sans his passion for collecting kicks haha...)
He's lucky to have a dad as nurturing as you. :)JLin is the right choice. [I always feel bad for those NY dads who felt they had to turn their back on JLin in order to support the Nyk. Every child should get a chance to have him as a role-model.]An early exposure to sports is ideal. Sports has it all: It pushes one to patiently train towards a goal, it implicitly teaches those intangibles in human relations [team chemistry], it exposes one to intermittent defeats -> important so one can learn about coping and persistence. Besides its upside health-wise, it also fosters a body awareness that helps with a person's presence and self-confidence. [Even sport-spectatoring is great, one learn lessons that can easily apply to RL situations. Being an avid sports fan also boost testosterone -> very impt for a person's health and vitality.]Again, I'd applaud a dad who takes an active part in his son's development. [Not to get too deep into this issue] but boys need masculine guidance. Society is gradually becoming less friendly to male values, and boys grow up absorbing a lot of anti-male rhetoric in the media. If masculine integrity is not upheld, society is done [This is no exaggeration.]
^ Lol, it got a bit serious at the end...
Lol it just occurred to me you might not be a dad. If so, no offense meant. :)To support your child's athletic aspirations [like MamaLin did] is awesome in my book.
You're dead on , via. I appreciate your kind words and encouragement. We're certainly more glad to have you here. Thanks to JLin for intertwining our lives together. My kid surely does know you(at least from what you tirelessly and unselfishly do in this forum). So , here's to an exciting journey ahead , supporting our boy JLin! Cheers! :)
It's not unselfish, chan c. I learn a lot fr the posters here. :)[Yep, on with the quest, for JLin, the Rox, and us...]

@hane: That was what I was thinking but would it affect his peripheral vision? And only a handful of players in the NBA wear facial masks...NBA Face Masks
I know bleacher report is dubious, but this article was a pretty satisfying read....sums up what we've been observing and saying about JLin on this forum :)http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1473277-3-things-jeremy-lin-has-improved-on-since-bursting-onto-nba-scene
Yeah this guy ( Marshall) most of the time writes perspective articles on Rox and JLin.
NBA A-Z: Predictions for 2013, trades, champions
KEVIN DING @KevinDingPau cut the bridge of his nose but should be OK for Tuesday in Houston. Dwight said he'll see what MRI on right shoulder reveals tomorrow.12:57 AM - 7 Jan 13
Dwight Howard: We have to play like we like each other.
I found myself tearing up earlier when I saw Pau's nose bleeding. I had a mad crush on him and he's one of my favorite Lakers :(
with all those "Gasol to Rockets" rumor - I love Gasol. I adore him, but not teeny weeny close to how I adore JLin. I raved on his 2012 Olympics game - terrorizing with his scoring and exploiting Team USA's small lineup and lack of front court depth... BUT I don't see him coming to the Rockets, and with his inconsistency now with the Lakers, I don't think he will very much help the Rockets. Millsap or Jefferson are better prospects. I think, if Morey is a big Gasol fan, he will do everything he can to get Gasol and McHale will definitely be all smiles with the addition of a big man to the team. although, I don't blame Gasol's inconsistency right now solely to him, I also questionat how D'Antoni plays him now.
Oh, Gasol would HELP the Rockets. The problem is that Gasol is strictly a center. He can't defend dribble guys from the power forward slot, plus he would get in Asik's way or send Asik to the bench. The Lakers really need a Twin Tower inside outside offense to make full use of Gasol and Howard. A simple 3-2 set would solve that for them.
Gasol can't shoot 3s like Patterson does. And Patterson is still young. If I'd be morey the team stays like that. In summer a top free agent and nothing else. I don't know if i could chase a c or a pf who can score 3s. It would be great to have both but i don't see that kind of player available
They should get Derrick Favors from the Utah Jazz. He doesn't get the minutes to show his full potential, but he has a lot of upside. He's like another Paul Millasap who just needs to develop.
Derrick Favors would be great, but the Jazz won't let him go. Al Jefferson is too slowfooted and too much of a ballstopper to play for the Rockets. Even though he had his best seasons playing for Kevin McHale, Jefferson would completely mess up the on court chemistry of this team. Josh Smith is a guy that Lin and Harden are targeting. That's a guy that would fit in on the Rockets. He'd even help with the midrange shotblocking, closing out on guards.
KHuang - that is, IF Gasol plays consistently... I don't know anymore if it's injuries, team chemistry, personal issues, D'Antoni's coaching or other stuff. D'Antoni has a player rotation of Gasol at C and Hill as PF.
If Gasol does come in to Rockets, who will be let go? Adlrich? Motiejunas? hopefully NOT T.Jones.

"We knew that coming in, that eight or nine new guys on one-year deals is not really an ideal situation, but what else is there to do?" Nowitzki said. "So either you break the whole thing up and trade me or you get a bunch of one-year deals and try to be a player next summer."That was the second time in a week that Nowitzki, who has a no-trade clause in his four-year, $80 million contract that expires after the 2013-14 season, mentioned the possibility of trading him.
Are you suggesting we might get nowitzki? I'd trade the whole team outside of harden, Asik, and JLin! Add notwitzki to the mix, we will be scoring 110 points a game!
is adding another superstar a good idea? case in point : superstar -laden Lakers having chemistry issues
Nay to Dirk. What we need is a PF who can play great at both ends of the court and actually knows how to pick and roll. Don't have to score a lot too
Lol sorry for the knee jerk reaction to the idea of adding dirk. Dirk is not a ball mover or a pnr guy. If we get a guy like him there will be a lot of tweaking again to the current system. My impression of dirk when i think about it is actually an iso heavy seven feet sf. Our scoring isn't the problem. It is helping Asik rebound and plays good help defense. What are some options out there? josh smith? Probably not Love. He is a good rebounder but not so much a shot blocking threat.
Dirk wants to go in LA with steve...
Andrea Bargnani would help. Alongside Jeremy Lin, Bargnani would be a much more dangerous player on both ends of the court. Bargnani has the size and scoring to go against the battleship Western Conference max contract forwards, and defensively he would be greatly helped by Jeremy Lin.

@wilcIs this something about the ASG voting procedure..?
I believe it's something about how we can vote multiple times. Apparently if you visit the voting websites using "private" surfing mode in you browser (I use google chrome, it's called "incognito" mode) you can vote multiple times for asg ballot. The motivation for calling out to Jlin fans to cote using this method is that the poster suspects the asg voting is rigged. To test this theory out, the poster is telling everyone to (artificially) bump up Jlin votes by using the sneaky repated voting method. The idea is that if everyone votes for Westbrook as well and Westbrook's ballots shoots up more than JLin's, we then know the nba has rigged the voting in favor of Westbrook or to JLins detriment. I thats the gist of it. Typing this out on my ipad so it mighty not be very clear. Let me know if it makes sense. :)
Thanks @wilc! :)Don't mean to spread panic/ besmirch the org.[Just something I came upon on Twitter...]
No need for extra inappropriate ways to vote for our JLin. Just keep it clean and vote everyday. If JLin happens to lose to CP3, then it's all good. JLin just needs to play better to attract more fans. There's no shame losing to an allstar like CP3. If CP3's fans use other means to vote to win this, then that's their choice. JLin's not just a basketball player. He's a role model to many kids and adults alike. I'm sure he doesn't want his fans to cheat in the voting system so that he can play in the ASG. I voted 3x everyday, and I think I do my part as a fan. Lin's fans out there should be doing the same. Peace!
I vote everyday by NBA ballot, Twitter, and text. That's 3 times a day since the first results came in, and since then the lead has only been trimmed by a few thousand. Lin doesn't have the benefit of a big market team, TV commercials, or big men who are capable of alley-oop highlight reel dunks. I'm sure if Rockets had a Blake Griffin or Javale Mcghee high flying dunker, Lin can get more assists and more attention. But so far he's stuck with big men who can't even catch a simple pass.
No. Don't need to do that. Just vote jlin. Don't vote for Russell. It will help him looks good not jlin. Let it be.
Nothing would please me more than Lin making it in an All Star by fan votes and to watch Clutch himself on suicide watch. If Lin makes it, then the coach would have to choose CP3 in. This means Harden is out. He will have a melt down. Seriously Melt Down! He is a Harden nut sucker. I like Harden and think he is a good person, but he needs to shrink his head down a tad. I like that fact that he went out of his way in both games against the Knicks, to help Lin. Clutch thinks Lin is comparable to Rafer Alston. He is very adamantly against Lin making into the All Star.
He has already twitted that Harden will be in the All Star 1-2 weeks ago.
I can't read Chinese but I do share their sentiment that the number of JLin's votes are suspiciously low. They're trying to see if they vote for 2 people at the same time, the numbers increase accordingly or it only goes up for 1 person. But I don't really want to vote for Westbrook, so I'll just keep on voting for JLin.
Well considering some non-CP3 fans cote for him just o that JLin does not get in, it may be the reason why CP3 is is ahead?I vote four times a day using the nba.com website, twitter, Facebook, and the nba game time app. I also submit only one player with my ballot to save time. I am not interested in voting for other players anyways.
It's weird that when I voted for JLin the other day , I got an email back thanking me for voting in the All Star Games. It said in there , I voted for CP3 , but , the thing is , I never did. I voted for JLin! I thought , oh maybe , I committed a mistake and might have clicked CP3. But , reading all your posts now , I begin to doubt. Why would have I voted for CP3 ( even if by mistake ) when , I was adamant , I will never vote for him , because he is JLin's direct competition. I'm confused...
Because warming-up is important...
I finally got a look at Patrick Beverly. I am skeptical about his NBA ability because he doesn't have the court sense. On offense, he looks strictly for his own shot when he catches the ball. He's fast and can jump, but I'm also skeptical he can physically do that against NBA athletes especially in the paint. On defense, Beverly is two steps slow. It's not his physical quickness, it's his reaction time. With the Rockets, Beverly is going to get ATTACKED on defense. I don't know whose idea it was to get Beverly, but it all points to Les Alexander in the end. Even though Les obviously found a gem in Lin, I think he found a 12th man type in Beverly. Les Alexander is the NBA's bargain hunter. He shops for players at flea markets and occasionally ends up with something good. That won't happen this time, I suspect.
Thank you for that as I don't know anything about this guy.
KHuang - thank you for providing an analysis of Beverley's game. is the guy with the Rockets' D-League affiliate now?this statement made me LOL - "Les Alexander is the NBA's bargain hunter. He shops for players at flea markets and occasionally ends up with something good." I just love your analogies, from food to shopping. I'm a flea market addict myself. the difference between Les and I is I'm a better shopper lol
haha, @KHuang and @IsabeliJane, you both remind of 'Confession of a Shopaholic'...i'm a flea market addict too, a lousy one though (:BTW, i'm missing Cara...she hasn't been posting lately ((:
I'm an ebay addict. For the kinds of antiques I deal in, ebay is a paradise for a guy like me that knows exactly what I'm looking at. When I look at basketball player, I mentally strip away the hype and rep and all that social stuff. I look strictly at the guy's game, regardless of color. I'm pleased to see a player I targeted last year as a "poor man's Jeremy Lin" finally make the NBA and contribute to a winning squad. That player is Ben Hansbrough, 2011 Big East Player of the year as a point guard who went undrafted. Ben has become a solid NBA backup point guard, and I'd rather have him than Patrick Beverly or Scott Machado.
@Khuang, Along with you and @MichaelTerry, you are definitely the most knowledgeable about basketball. I'm a big fan of both of your posts. I may not always agree with everything you say, but you are both extremely insightful, and blow away the anti-Jlin garbage that gets thrown here from time to time.
Patrick Beverly * Too slow for the NBA* NOT a PG pass first player* More of a COMBO guard w/ less skill & physical prowess in comparison to James Harden type combo guards.* Not that much better than Scott MachadoOnly reason why I would think they would pick him up because they need someone to sup out James Harden while Lin is on the court. Then have TD and Harden play together when Lin is sitting on the bench.
Thanks, jlinisasuperhero.Actually, I don't mind people posting anti-Lin stuff. I post plenty of anti-Lin criticism myself regularly. What I mind is people posting anti LIN FAN stuff. When trolls start attacking members here, I turn into Darth Huang! It's a misperception that Lin's fans like him just because he's Asian. While that may be true of many fans, the majority of fans here are diehard basketball fans who like Lin because he is DOMINANT. Trust me, I wouldn't be here if Lin had Patrick Beverley's slow reaction time! Michael Terry is another one of my favorite posters. He knows how to access his stats, much better than I do. I'm actually NOT a stats guy, as I usually can see with my eyes what the numbers are saying.
Howard Chen @ho_chenCSNRockets announce they're sending newly-signed Patrick Beverley to @rgvvipers of the @nbadleague. #RedNation3:44 PM - 7 Jan 13
A project that is supported by Francis Chan (author of Crazy Love), Michael Chang and Yes, our hero Jeremy Lin, is worth our supporting. As much time as our kids (or even adults) are into iphone or iPad games, they ought to be playing something teaching better values than angry bird. I will get my Manna-Tee
The Rockets are super fast. Is that good?
my concern exactly!we cant win with just fact pace and offense only. improvement will come but will take some time
Good enough for this year to make the playoff :)Noone in the right mind would think Rockets would be 6th in the Western Conf standing with 20-14 record. And they have won 10 of the last 13 games!
A "super fast" pace is great in the regular season, but it's not enough by itself in the playoffs. When the playoffs come and opponents shut down the Rockets ball movement and dribble penetration, people are going to howl in anger that McHale is a "bad coach" and that Lin is "not a true NBA star". It'll be a bunch of hater baloney, for sure. Kevin McHale is all too aware that his team cannot run halfcourt sets due to the ineptness of the minimum wage frontcourters. He and especially Lin have done a magnificent job of hiding the Rockets weak frontcourt in that slick passing motion offense scheme they're running. This Rockets team runs and guns more than the SSOL Steve Nash D'Antoni Phoenix teams that had max contract guys up and down the roster. Frankly, I find Lin's Rockets to be more exciting than Nash's Suns were BECAUSE of the lack of talent on Lin's Rockets!
I was hardly writing anything on CF but currently I got following message:vBulletin MessageYou have been banned for the following reason:No reason was specified.Date the ban will be lifted: NeverThe reason I can think about is: a few day’s ago, a post name <> on there Op stated “[PG]Need: good spot up shooter, great defender, low turnover guyHave: terrible spot up, so so defense, high turnoverVerdict: current version of Lin is not a good fit. I dont think he will ever develop into that kind of player, too far fetched from his strengths. That is why I think Morey will trade him when stock is high vs have him come off bench.”Because I had felt along, the old Rocket fans for some reason could not accept Jlin. I wrote: to OPI have a good option for you. Please send Lin back to NY and replace with Raymond Felton. Pointing to the All-Star vote shows just how little you know about basketball. Your red bar speaks volumes about you as a poster.Dear King1..SAS said "Lin is not belong to NBA"; it doesn't make any difference who he is..We don't need to be a NBA player to watch the games or select who is the favor player in ppl's heart. The silent majority ppl already show their heart though all-star vote and even poll on here. That is the fact and no one could deny that.I am here just point out whatever you saying didn't change anything but..... I wrote:”Lin is a young player and has a lot upside. My question is because the CF is a semi-official Rocket site. Clutch is Rocket employee and does PR for team. He also is the only one has power to ban ID.At the past, I felt the old Rocket’s fans who were not accept JLin not Rocket. Now I have a different viewpoint. The rocket encourages or supports the negative view on Jlin in fan’s web site. Look the poll on CP site, the silent majority support Lin but negative post all over the site like “Jeremy Lin is a joke” speaking out the odds. They banned Lin’s supporter to increase the negative voice….
Members like King1, and JCDenton have been on CF for a long time. They get the benefits of seniority, and can tell the admin to ban anyone or anything that offends them. Which is why I have never posted or created an account on that forum. I just read it sometimes, like once a day.
Cluth belongs to the Rocket and he closes to the team more than close to King1( if he is not Cluth himself, Cluth should not put the fan's action above the team value. that this my point, he is not acting individually or just personal opinion ...
CF is full of a bunch of clowns that are self-proclaimed experts in basketball. My guess is that this is a forum for people who have below average IQ like many of the other Houstonions. It's a sad site that I never visit anymore.
Why do you even want to visit that site? bunch of clowns there. All they do is spew hate on LIN.
A lot of you here mentioned that because they are from Texas and are very closed minded, but a lot of people who are against Lin on that site are a mixed of blacks, Hispanics, and Whites. Even in his days in NY, I used to visit RealGM and most of the people who are supporters of Lin were Whites. RealGm posters like 21shumpshump is Hispanic and Quick Kick is black.
21shumshump and Quick Kick hate Lin with a passion.
Yea,right. Saying I don't hate Lin but making comments like he's nothing and bashing the fans . How about take a look at yourself? What the hell is comments like this:" I don't think he is a good basketball player, but I think he is a good person." What basketball knowedlge you have to say he is not a good player? And saying he's a good person? Yea, right..totally don't see you have any respect and showing any positive for this good person. Let's be real. Don't use that kind of comment to cover up ur real hate. People can feel the words to tell it's fake or real.
A lot of haters, racists or trolls will start their augment by saying something like " I like Lin, but ....., "I think he is a nice kid, but....." A lot of trolls, haters, and racists who visits this board for the first time will use one of those above. As soon as you call him/her a hater/racist, his/her defense is "I am Asian" or I am half Mexican and half Taiwanese." 100% of the time, they are not.
@My2Cents,I read CF posts although I don't post frequently. My general observation is more CF members lately have appreciated JLin with his improved contribution on defense, ball-facilitator and scoring if necessary. Some like King1 could not look beyond the box score to measure a player's contribution but that's okay because eventually Lin will win them over with more clutch (pun unintended) performances in big games.I would suggest asking the CF administrator for the reason for the ban.And I do understand the frustration of seemingly overwhelming Lin-bashing in CF but some are NY trolls but some Lin fans also need to refrain from "trade Lin to Lakers/other teams" messages because it can create more divisiveness and tensions. Just point out Lin's contributions after games without overly defending him. Users like Mike Lu and torocan have been making excellent analysis of Lin's contributions.Lin's performance in the long term will speak for itself. Even longtime Houston Rockets fans will grow to appreciate Lin's tenacity and contributions when Houston makes the playoff.
It's OK some ppls don't like Jlin. We are all have the right to express our feeling. After all, we are all just try to predict the future of Jlin anyway. We could be right or wrong, Who know. And Jlin and us (his fans) are again all odds here because there haven't been any Asian, Harverd book smart guy became a great NBA Player. It need time to prove that. SO, take it easy. Just don't go to that CF Site. don't waste your time.
I think everyone has the right to express his or her opinion, but don't come in here with an agenda of bringing a long time member or Lin down. I disagree with certain members here, but doesn't mean I don't him/her. We all don't have to bring Lin up to a pedestal because he does have flaws. He is human after all.
These people on Clutch fan cannot watch the Rockets games due to dispute with ComCast and only going on box score. Like many their typical perception of a great/good bball player is what the sports media/analysts dictate to them who should be good and who are scrubs. If I were many of you fans then I wouldn't bother posting or reading garbage. What you see happening before your eyes is what is surreal. Lin is coming into his own. He is still young and the season is still young. There is alot of room for improvements. The Rockets were dismissed by alot of experts, true-blue Rockets fans and everybody who thinks they know about sports from the start of the season. Who knew they have reached the 20 wins mark by January and is currently a contender in the West to make the play offs. The road is long and hard so it will take many miles before they sleep and many miles before they sleep.
alcsdSounds like mchale.a couple of times he said during interview Lin is a good kid. He was being asked how is jeremy lin?Im pretty sure the writer wants to know how is lin doing as a player and not as a person. And the he added, he will be fine.Really?there was no evaluation of lin's skills and aNd he gave a vague description of his future as a basketball player.
this is the post---Building a team around Hardenhttp://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=231697
No thanks. I just hate that forum.
@KietChayroxI thought that web site from semi-officially Rocket team web site.Specially, the mod Cluth from Rocket and his job is PR. The site has the most current team information but unlucky I saw many old Rocket members hate Lin. They created the word LOF and I constantly saw LOF and LOH fighting drama. I am surprised why they just treat Lin like that, now I felt like that is no only from individual fan but from the team....
Lin just have to win them over.He already has won over a lot, now he just needs to be consistent.
I really hope Clutchfans is not affiliated with the Rockets or that Clutch guy is a member of the Pockets PR team. I saw many posts from him saying JLIn doesn't deserve to be in the Allstars and the voting system needs to change if he gets voted in. Also, there's some pretty disgusting racist hate going on in that site and usually those comments are from "contributing members".And if any of you spies from the Rocket management team is lurking, I will let you know why I would never go to Houston to watch JLin play. It's because of those ugly racists idiots on Clutchfans. I would never want to be in the same city, let alone in the same building with those vermin. It just gives me the creeps to even think about it.
I saw Clutch on a clip and he might be the bear....
He explained Clutchfans web site in that clip; initially it was from him but now it has more than 50000 members fan base.Clutch worked for Rocket right now and Rocket GM is very good on communication and himself often chatting with fans. It is easy to figure out the web site having something to do with Rocket. It is very odd to use the web site as a weapon and let someone constantly bash JLin and also odd to ban the JLin's supporting fans.....
Don't worry about Jeremy Lin on the Rockets. His owner, Les Alexander, is a presumably Jewish NY guy. As long as Les appreciates Lin, there's nothing to worry about. This Rockets team is very different from other NBA teams because the owner is SUPER INVOLVED. Les pulls the strings and everybody complies whether they agree with him or not. Thus even if Daryl Morey doesn't like Lin, it doesn't matter because whatever Les says is what Les gets.
As for Patrick Beverley, from what I have seen on Youtube, he seems to almost never drive to his left but can finish at the rim when he goes to his right and hit short to mid range jumpers, but seems to stay away from taking 3s. Not blow by opponents type of PG or great passer type, but seems a solid back-up type. I also don't see him as a great defender either. Actually, he's a younger version of TD without as good 3 pointer shot but with a solid short to mid range shots.
Yes, he can jump for 6 feet 2 inches guard, but not the type of PG who can make others around him better. Reasonably fast going to his right, but I think his drives to his right will be telegraphed in NBA. At best a back-up PG, a lot like TD without as good 3 pointer shot but with a decent short to mid range shots. That's my impression.
I watched some highlights on youtube too. I question whether he can do the same drives in the NBA where you have taller more athletic defenders in the paint.
He's gunna learn the hard way I guess...So I'm assume this means he's better than Machado? :D
It's not Beverley's athleticism at the rim that worries me. It's his lack of COURT SENSE that probably won't get him to the rim to begin with! Tons of flashy PGs can run and jump and shoot 3s and even play lockdown man defense. But fitting in a team and knowing what to do within that team framework - that's a talent in itself that most NBA front offices have no clue even exists. Beverley has NBA athleticism but not NBA court sense. Jeremy Lin has BOTH.
I think Douglas is gonna go. Bev's gonna back JLin up.
Oh no! I love TD. He has good chemistry with Harden and JLIn. Hope they keep him.
@Rachel I'm just saying. I have no proof TD is gonna be let go. It's just my guess.
Didn't they cut machado already?
Yes, Machado got cut.
Possible Rox trade candidates mentioned in NBA circles in mid-Nov included:Daequan CookToney DouglasMarcus Morris
Tweet from Brian Mahoney @briancmahoneyCarmelo and Harden are East/West players of the week. One of them even shows how to play well alongside Lin.
zinger...Just had to rub it in..LOL
Afterall, the Roxs and Knicks record aren't that much different. Roxs 20-14Knicks 23-10LOL.
And people were saying how great the Knicks were w/out JLin. Ha, whatever.
I don't know. I re-watched some JLin as a Knick highlights and he and Melo(and Amare, Tyson, Shump) had good on-court chemistry. They seemed happy and were laughing. Maybe I only saw the good part? Melo did make that "ridiculous" comment so he's on my enemy list, but I think JLin played well with Knicks' players.
Knicks are great, until:- Carmelo gets injured- Carmelo goes cold, and they have to depend on JR Smith for scoring (hahahaha)- Carmelo gets sick- Carmelo gets frustrated- Carmelo doesn't get calls- Carmelo wakes up on the wrong side of the bed- Carmelo plays against Lin's team- Carmelo has to play with Amare
Howard Chen @ho_chenCSNScott Machado was cut to make room for Beverley. #RedNation
Ouch...Ok I don't like Machado because of his smack talk...But was hoping he'd have time to develop. Maybe he'll end up on another team.Daequan Cook made it to Bulls...Was hoping he wouldn't be cut, really didn't give him any playing time.
And he said he's better than JLin. No grudge there but poor guy.
@Kenoshi, I think Delfino's good play definitely squandered Cook's chances. As for Machado, I thought he was a dipsheet before he joined the Roxs. I dont know who's gonna pick Machado up. He may end up playing overseas I suppose.
I wrote before the season started that Scott Machado just could not physically compete in the NBA. He's the opposite of Patrick Beverly - court sense was there, physicality was not.
Well, Machado can go play ball overseas and be back in a couple of years.
I guess Lin's mistakenly calling Machado to tell him how sorry he was to see him go was a precursor to the actual thing. I wonder if Lin called him now.
LOL, I guess so.
Based on Lin's history, he probably called Machado again to give some words of encouragement. Hopefully he didn't mistakenly dial Royce's number this time :)Wishing Machado all the best to work hard to make it in the NBA. From his tweets, he sounds like pretty good guy. He was misrepresented by the NY media as someone who didn't think much of Lin.
That will funny as hell if he text Royce instead.
I don't see Jeremy unfollow Machado's twitter as he did on Cook's twitter the minute he's cut. Think Machado isn't a bad guy and seems to have cordial relationship with Jeremy.
Oh yeah, JLin unfollowed Cook. Damn janelin7, your like a hawk. Keeping an eye out on who JLin follows too, LOL.
@Racha, lol ;>
"That will funny as hell if he text Royce instead."Twitreply:#NotCool #StopThatSh*t
Looks like Howard and Pau are gonna be out for the Lakers game on Tuesday--Jordan Hill too. Damn all their bigs are going down. Hopefully JLin can have a field day attacking the rim.
Can't say I feel bad for Lakers...Hahaha I really don't...Against any other team yes, but not against JLin's Rockets :)
I hope Roxs win the next 4 or 5 games before facing the Clips.
Those bigs being out makes me NERVOUS for Jeremy Lin. Just like Toronto, a teams bench can step in and suddenly play the defense that the injured starters would not play.
@KHuang I was just thinking about that. The Lakers might even play better with them trees out.
They may try Run and gun with Nash, Kobe, MWP, Meeks, Jamison lined up at the three point line. Lakers starters had lots of turnovers last game, and judging from the box score it seemed like that did them in. Sitting two of them out may help in that department, especially when Pau did not seem to make the team better.
Heh that'd give D'Antoni some ammo to get rid of Gasol...Didn't he not play Gasol for some reason when he first took over?
I thought Gasoline was injured at the time. I like Gasol. Tough guy, great passing, nice post moves facing and with his back to the basket. But his position on the team seems to be like his position of Jlin on the Rockers earlier on in the season. Square peg in a round hole.
Hah gasoline, I meant Gasol. Autocorrect did that for me.
When D'Antoni was coaching the Suns, I used to get frustrated because he refused to run true postups. This is why I'm glad D'Antoni is not coaching the Rockets. D'Antoni generally doesn't adjust well to his players if they don't fit his stretch perimeter scheme. Ironically, Kevin McHale would be a terrific coach for the LA Lakers. He'd do what KC Jones did with the Celtics: run a 3-2 post up offense that couldn't be stopped because of the inside scoring. And when opponents piled up on that inside, he'd run a stack offense and flare Bryant and Nash out to the wings for uncontested jumpers.
Hollinger's formulaic NBA rankings are pretty spot on. Houston is indeed top 5 or 6 in the NBA. It is clear they can beat most teams in a 7 game series except for the Spurs, OKC, Miami, and probably the Clippers. And they can already hang with Denver's, GSW, Memphis, Knicks and make those series a toss up. At this point, the rest of the regular season is simply about how good the Rox can get...can they get so much better they can actually beat the top 5-6 elite teams and play them to a standstill? Or are they just going to be a second tier team who loses to the Spurs/OKCs/Miami's?The Rox backcourt, for me, is pretty much #1 in the NBA already at this point. Nobody wants to say it out loud and most still don't believe Lin is just an Asian Nash/Kidd/Stockton hybrid in training with his own unique good and bad traits but nonetheless he holds elite potential. The Rox hit once in a lifetime gold getting a close to max contract player for $8 mill per over 3 years just because nobody else can see it cause the guy is Asian and nobody wants to believe that all the scouts and experts were so inherently and subconsciously racist to pass over Lin time and time again simply because of that.Good players find their way regardless of circumstances. Lin is doing that now, being treated from scrub to integral starter during the course of this season. Even if Les A. forced the coaches to play Lin more now, Lin still showed on his own he could drop 20.10.7 on the Hawks and 38pts on the Spurs. Nobody did that for Lin but himself. Harden may be better overall as a player esp. on offense where it matters to most people, but Lin is showing he is no wallflower. When Lin starts to hit his jumpshots later (and I believe he will get a lot more dangerous as the regular season ends - no need to wait for summer training), we will see this team get even scarier, and this backcourt will be completely un-guardable. If the Rox can get a Dwight Howard this summer and Asik comes off the bench, this is basically a championship contender for the next 7-8 years barring injuries.
Well they hit a diamond but thought he was quartz and let him go instead of polishing Lin...And bought him back.Moral of this story: Never listen to Morey's financial advice (stocks/bonds/etc) if he offers any, because sell low, buy high is just not a good strategy, unless yer shorting.Still think we need a good 4, should try and pick up Josh Smith or Millsap unless we see significant consistent improvement on Morris and 2Pat.
No Dwight Howard. He only wants to play for major market coast teams. Had the Rockets drafted Andrew Nicholson instead of Terrence Jones or Royce White, there would be no talk of adding a stretch 4. Nicholson is a STUD and eventually will be a better player than Paul Millsap or Josh Smith. Andrew Nicholson is the exact kind of player that a guy like Daryl Morey would pass by. He's 6'9", 250 lbs, can shoot the 3, and has a polished inside post scoring game. In short, he plays like a #1 overall pick but went to a tiny school that hurt his draft position. Andrew Nicholson is better than Anthony Davis. I wrote that before the draft, and I really believe it now that I've seen both of them on an NBA court.
"Good players find their way regardless of circumstances."This statement is proven true for Lin. His confident 3-5 3PT shooting in the CLE game showed how far he had adjusted to his role of being a spot-up shooter. We all know that Lin is much more comfortable to shoot off-the-dribble so he needs to have the ball in his hands to get in the comfort zone in shooting. It's only 1 game but he has shown progress in the form and confidence in shooting 3PTs compared to the early games.Hopefully I no longer have to think "oh no, no way that's going in but please God just make it bounce in" if he maintains his current 3PT shooting form :)
No Dwight. Although Asik needs to work on them flimsy hands, the need right now is an all around power forward.
Millsap's Present And Future.
I like Milsap.
But if I had a choice, I'd get Josh Smith.
KHuang, is Andrew Nicholson your brother or client or something? You say he can hit the 3. In 32 NBA games, he has attempted and made ZERO three pointers.WTF? LOL! You've been here since the start and have a made many good points about JLin but Andrew Nicholson?!?
redking, go watch Andrew Nicholson's college videos. Hr is a DEADLY standstill three point shooter. Just because Nicholson chooses not to shoot threes doesn't mean he can't take anf make them.
Kxxx Yxxxx @YxxxxIxxxxxJames Harden and Jeeremy Lin talked to Josh Smith after the game for like 5 minutes...RECRUITING6:52 PM - 31 Dec 12"They [ATL] believe they have the inside track on re-signing him in July and with the way the Hawks are playing there are absolutely no plans to trade Smith."
"Just because Nicholson chooses not to shoot threes doesn't mean he can't take anf make them."LOL!! Are you listening to yourself?? Hey if he's your client or buddy, it's cool but now you are getting delusional. Just to humor you, I looked at his college stats. No 3s attempted his freshman or sophomore year either. Then 27% and 43% his junior and senior year respectively, which isn't bad. But he's never shot a three pointer in the NBA after 32 games. COME ON!
Not sure if this was previously discussed in the CLE post-game analysis but there was evidence of growing chemistry between Lin and Harden.1. Someone in CF mentioned that one Lin's "And-1" play was very similar to Harden's signature play of driving strong to the basket with his head slightly tilted looking up the sky and keeping the ball low but exposing the arm enough to get contact to get fouls. After the call, Harden said something to Lin that made Lin smile as if he said "Told you it's gonna work".Did anyone see this play since I didn't have time to look at the LP replay?2. In the 4Q, Lin definitely looked to give the ball more to Harden to get him hot in his shooting. None was more clear than when both went 2 on 1 against Kyrie Irving and Lin could have made an easy layup and he was ahead of Harden but Lin "forced" to pass to give the ball to Harden resulting in Kyrie's steal. It didn't work this time but Harden became hot in the next few plays. Mission accomplished. Did anyone else also have the same thought? For me, it bodes well for both of them in the future and the Rockets to see how Harden and Lin have been working to play together and there are evidence to support their unselfish plays. Harden has been better in his defense and Lin has been learning to get "And-1" plays without crashing on the floor. Perhaps they are learning from each other faster than we thought before.
Totally agree on all three points. Lin and Harden are playing off each other. It's great to watch. James Harden played three years alongside, not with, Russell Westbrook who's a shoot first second third fourth fifth point guard. Harden is learning that when he's in the game with Lin, he can make life easier on himself by letting Lin produce for him. The two players are developing superb on court chemistry.
Good observations.1) It does seem Lin is incorporating more of Harden's techniques. Lin's three pointer form is much more Harden-esque during the previous game during the first half. 2) I also noticed that extra pass that Lin should have finished himself. It didn't occur to me that it is that play that got Harden hot. I just thought Harden was able to brainwash Lin to pass as first option. I am reviewing some of the past games. Lin and Harden played perfectly well together during the first game of the season against the Pistons. It wasn't until the 4th quarter of the next game against the Hawks that Harden started going into iso mode. After the Hawks game, Rockets lost three games in a row where both Harden and Lin did poorly. So, my hypothesis is that something happened during that Hawks game that caused Harden/Lin to un-gel. Some other observations: Asik looked good setting pick and rolls during the first two games of the season. It seems that Asik is capable but just unwilling to set picks later on. And, Aldrich had some excellent big man post moves during the first two games. Dunno why they are few and far in between now.
Etane, Harden and Lin faced some teams with high level midrange shotblocking after that Hawks game - and the Hawks are no slouches in shotblocking despite their low numbers. Teams are meeting Asik off the roll. He is getting bottled up because teams are taking away his shovel pass. Plus, teams are playing Asik for the roll in general. Asik doesn't have enough game to shoot the easy open perimeter jumper or make the inside hook shot. Aldrich is a player who's simply been edged out by Greg Smith. Greg Smith is the exact kind of player who is going to earn a big contract catching Lin's inside passes but would not be able to score even 4 points a game playing for any other team.
I want to see JLin do the eurostep.
Also, just noticed an interesting Harden stat. Except for the first two games of the season, Harden hardly scored over 20 points a game before Lin dropped 38 on the Spurs. After the Spurs game, Harden only scored under 20 once. I am just reading the box scores, so I might have the stats wrong, but that's what I am seeing. My interpretation is Harden was competitive with Lin. And, it might have been pissing Harden off that Lin is not reciprocating. But, maybe Harden was just trying to get himself on the All Star team. Hopefully, after the break, we will see more team ball just like how Rockets played against the Piston during the first game of the season.
Racha, I see Jeremy Lin doing the Eurostep when he motors up the court. It's just that teams aggressively double Lin when he Eurosteps. That's why Lin keeps finding open guys for Houston's league leading offense.
Etane, there is another interpretation. Lin's improved play simply gave more space for Harden to operate so he can score easily. Defenders can no longer keep Lin at bay and double/triple team Harden.I'm liking this double-threat backcourt duo. Pick your poison :) It will give Lin at least 5 more years of staying power in the NBA because he won't get as beaten up
@KHuang What? JLin eurostepped b4. Never seen it. I've seen JLin motor up the court weaving left and right while keeping his dribble. The eurostep occurs after you pick up your dribble.
ok, I found the exact play where Lin "forced" the ball to get Harden going. In this coffetime highlight video, go to 12:47 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AgpXajLgqg The score was 88-86 with 6:55 left in 4Q. Kyrie lost the ball trying to put a move on Lin then Harden picked up the ball. Both Harden and Lin started fastbreak and Harden gave the ball to Lin. Harden slowed down because Lin could have scored a layup over Irving. Lin gave the ball back to Harden but Tristan T managed to block it.Harden only scored 13 at this point but he proceeded to score 16 points afterwards to finish with 29 points.
Khuang: during that 3 game losing streak, Hardin was shooting below 30% with over 5.3 TOs per game. Perhaps Lin had a talk with Harden regarding his ISO. And, Harden responded back by freezing Lin out. As a result, all we heard about was Lin's shooting problems. However, looking back at the stats, Harden had a more egregious shooting problem. On to Greg Smith. He's simply the best big man on the Rockets now. Even during the first game of the season, he went 4 for 4 with 10 points with only 17 minutes. An injury kept him out for awhile. If not for that injury, we'd probably wouldn't have seen Asik in any games except for the opening game tip off.
Psalm: I would agree with you since Harden performed much better right after Lin's 38pts against the Spurs. However, from watching the games, I didn't see Lin provide Harden any additional spacing since Lin hardly touched the ball at all. In fact, Harden had less spacing it seemed since Harden was playing point guard with Lin only dribbling the ball pass the half court line then dump the ball off to Harden then went to stand in the corner.
@psalm234It's on coffeetime's highlight: 3Q 09:32-09:47
Racha: I saw Lin do a Eurostep during the previous game. But, the ref called an offensive foul on him because Lin ended up kicking the defender with his in the air leg scissors.
Dude, y'all gotta show me a vid of JLin doing eurostep cause I've never seen it. What game was it Etane?
@CJW, thanks! Lin went against triple-team and got the call w/o crashing to the floor :) And the funny thing is it happened a few possessions after Lin got called with 'offensive foul' due to his "dragon kick".Also great to see high-fives all-around among Lin, Parsons, Harden on this play. And Parsons was not even involved :) The caramaderie in this young team is great too watch, @Khuang.
You talking about the Cavs game Etane? JLin went up and kicked the dude in the balls. That one?
JLin may have kicked him in the abs somewhere--don't remember.
Racha/Etane, was it 9:22 in coffeetime video? That's the "dragon-kick-to-the-groin" move but I don't see Eurostep here. Just going up straight for a layup without shifting to left and right?
"I know Kung Fu."
@Racha Dont remember Jlin doing a eurostwp this season, but he did one against Minnesota's Kevin Love on the fast break last season.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2yPiEzMD_c&sns=em at around 1:54 mark.
via, thanks for the vid. I actually think it's a good move for JLin. He can absorb less contact while taking it to the basket, but he needs not make it so obvious. I think JLin just got tired of getting whacked on his way in too many times.
psalm, wilc posted vid of JLin eurostepping.
wilc, yep that's looks like a euro. thanks man.
Get ready to see Lin go through a series of games where he is hot one night, then cold one night in terms of shooting Js. I think he is close, it won't be one good night, then 3-4 cold nights. Its going to be alternating and he'll settle into more consistent nights of shooting after maybe 6-10 more games, if not shorter.Expect his defense to IMPROVE even further as he gains confidence, and be a much bigger presence in 4Q (thanks to Kyrie). I think he is close to 100%, he is starting to show he has the stamina to go the distance for 33-37 even 40mins a game and not run ragged even though he plays tough d.Keyword for Lin for the next few weeks: consistency.
thanks, wilc and Racha. That looks like a good half-Euro step with a good side-step from right to left. There will be a day when Lin will go left-right-left or right-left-right and he'll be unstoppable!
JLin last season.
@via, many thanks for all your posts and great links! That's quite a dedication. idk how you find them but keep up the good work :)The GIF of Parsons imitating Lin posted in CF is quite hilarious!http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=231821
@psalm do you know who does the full euro? I don't think I've seen even Manu or Harden does two lateral direction changes on one layup after picking up the dribble.
Glad to contribute, @psalm.[^The above post, that's a Euro, right?]That Parsons gif ^^He seem to be the closest to JLin.[But JLin's so good-natured, he gets along with everybody.] :)
Howard Chen @ho_chenCSNChandler Parsons didn't practice today. Flu-like symptoms. #RedNation10:18 AM - 7 Jan 13
Yeah, he needs to a rest. Maybe after the flu he'll have a Delfino moment.
Maybe he'll come back with more magical hair.
If it's more hair or flu, whatever, he needs to shoot better, LOL.
Nets, Spurs, Timberwolves, Hornets, Bulls and Rockets have all expressed interest in Donte Greene and discussed potential workout dates with the unrestricted free agent.
Donte Greene? Sacramento? Is Cousins coming too.
"Royce White wants the NBA, the National Basketball Players Association, the Rockets and himself to sign a document detailing his wishes for the mental health protocol, and White has told the Rockets he won't show up for work until all parties sign the document."
like, seriously??? White is demanding much.
Tired of hearing Royce White.
Royce White might think that he is a pioneer but unfortunately, he's scaring many NBA teams to use draft picks on players with mental health issues. If he was willing to show up for work in the D-league team where he doesn't have to fly, people might take him more seriously.
It's really up to the Rockets to just release White if they don't want to deal with White's anxiety disorder anymore.Maybe a different team is willing to pick White up and sign that document.Honestly, I would love to see White play.
The problem is Royce wants the NBA to sign the document giving medical professionals (Royce's doctor in Minnesota) to determine when he should or shouldn't play. I don't see the NBA relinquish control from team owner to outside doctors. It should work as any other workplace does. If someone has a disability, the disability insurance should kick in but he won't get full pay while doctors said his mental capacity doesn't allow him to feel good to play.
The problem is Royce wants the NBA to sign the document giving HIS medical professionals (Royce's doctor in Minnesota) to determine where he should play...
I guess this is a unique case that can potentially rewrite the rules between player and league relationship in regards to work place psychological health issues. It changes so many dimensions of the game since competitive sports is as much mental as it is physical. A lot of people won't like this.

JLin gotta be numero uno.
BTW thanks JLinFan1 for posting about this MannaSanity iPad app for kids project. I haven't heard about it before. Definitely will participate for app with good influence for kids among many violence in apps/games.
