Happy, Healthy and Successful New Year year to Jeremy Lin!
Happy and Healthy New Years to the site owners and members!
The Rockets need to contest 3's from the Hawks' PGs & SGs. Last saturday, the very good Hawks scored 10 of 20 three's against the good Pacers... and 55% FG..... Boy, the Hawks got better immediately after they hired the new general manager.
One year ago, Jeremy Lin came in during garbage time vs the Kings and struggled against Isaiah Thomas. I was worried about his NBA future and sent him a tweet, LOL.
Today, he's a legit NBA player with financial security. What a year!
A few observations after watching the first 5 minutes.
- Jeremy and Marcus Morris seem to have increasing chemistry as the season is going on. He's hitting Morris at the right time and likewise with Morris going to the right places when Jeremy is in motion.
- Jeremy had a nice drive to the basket for a nice put in and the announcers clearly showed confidence based on their dialogue, especially a few plays early when Jeremy pumped fake the sideline 3 and passed instead and the announcer said Jeremy has to drive in the basket knowing that that is his real strength. I can sense they are starting to figure out, which is funny because I think most people could not see that because their minds have not been molded to believe someone like Lin can do things like that, and should be limited to shooting like we've seen with the past Chinese products like Wang Zhizhi and Yao Ming.
That's what the commentators say - when your shot is not going in, get closer to the basket rather than attempting long three's. However, as a point guard Lin (and Harden) often get the ball outside the 3 when the shot clock is running down, and they HAVE to shoot the three's.
Sometimes, you never try you never knew. Maybe it ll go in may be it ll not. Glad he's not afraid to try it second time, at least that shows he has confidence.
There's still a lot of experimentation going on with the players and coaching staff. When Jeremy was on the bench earlier, there was a lot of chatting and using the draw-up board with one of the assistant coaches. They are still trying different techniques and formations to see what works and what doesn't, and at the same time they are trying to develop Jeremy's game because he still is raw as an NBA player.
Im sure McHale and and Sampson are already scheming
"how do we screw this up?" "dunno - like we always do?" "ehhhh... like interrupt Lins flow by benching him?" "yeah - that way we will also fall behind 10 pt at least" "OK - lets shout at Lin also, just to be on the safe side" "Right - lets do this - you look mad and I shout at him"
48-35. Huge 15-0 run by Rockets, coincidentally when Lin came in and Harden went out? Nah, too hard on Harden. Better defence by Smith, terrier like defence and offence management by Lin, huge three's by Delfino and Morris contributed.
I'd say two were dumb. One was a decent risk/reward pass.
The Spurs game had 2-3 dumb TOs, though. He's been so much better about that this season, but lately he's been sloppy -- my guess is that he's taking more shots and thus fatigue is making him careless.
Why are you guys confused about why Lin camps in the corner and doesn't touch the ball? You can answer your own questions...when you play basketball, what do you do with your weakest link/crappiest player? You stick them in the corner and hide them and hope they won't hurt your team...
Do any of us here agree Lin is a scrub that should stand and hide? Of course not, but since he is doing so it should be obvious to you what the Rox Front Office and coaching staff think of him.
' his TOs are aweful'. Disagree. The first TO should have been an assist if his team mate was awake or athletic enough to catch it and layup without anyone in front of him.
The worst kind of TO is when a poor pass is intercepted for the opposing team to make an easy layup/dunk. Lin does do those kinds but when you're distributing the ball all the time, the PG has more risk of giving up foolish TO's. It also depends if your team mate comes forward and tries to grab/contest the poor pass rather than letting the defender take the intercept.
it's bc we're playing a eastern conference team, i.e., not a very good team. When we play a western conf team, they'll limit his minutes again because they still see him as either a role player or liability.
@k.smith. You kinda right. Though hawk is holding the third spot in east. But the rockets seems to have good record against teams from east. I feel it too but don't want to say it. Last game with okc or the spurs is relevant to what you talk about.
the teams with best defenses are all in the West - Thunder, Spurs, Grizzlies. so far Jeremy shredded the Grizzlies. in the East, so far the only one with known best defense is the Bulls, but Jeremy shredded that known defense last Christmas. Heat is catching up with D though. lots of trapping the ball handler to force TOs.
McHale waited until his favorite son Parsons wasted about 5 possessions before taking him out lol. If it's Lin, he would be taken out after maybe 2 missed shots.
Parsons with 2-9 fga contributing to come back by Hawks. Coach needs to make plays for either Harden, Lin or Morris to take the shots. However, maybe Hawks are deliberately letting Parsons free and defending harder against the others.
Happy, Healthy and Successful New Year year to Jeremy Lin!

ReplyDeletetry this to see if it works:
Deletenbaliveonline.com
did the link work for you, Soccerland?
DeleteOranje!
DeleteThanks Hy. I seem to have to plug in something I'am insecure about this. Never mind. Enjoy the game I will look at it.
DeleteThanks Hy. I can follow the game with a view of about 90%. Great lead Rockets. willydilly you are Dutch?
DeleteBy the way have now 100% clear broadcast.
DeleteLol! No look failed !
ReplyDeleteHappy new year !!! Let's hope for a win tonight!
ReplyDeleteHorford 4-4. Timeout called by McHale to persuade/coach Asik how to stop him.
ReplyDeleteNice start so far. Nice screen by Harden for Lin.
ReplyDeleteLin will have a solid game, I'm predicting 18 and 8
DeleteLin did everything then, great defence, instrumental in the steal, then finished off with a layup.
ReplyDeleteDammit I missed it
DeleteHmmmm! Still can't hit a 3 . Damn !
ReplyDeleteLet's see him work the midrange game tonite, fingers crossed...midrange instead off long 2's and 3's
DeleteA few observations after watching the first 5 minutes.

Welcome back, Nemo. I thought we were leaving us, but I, for one, am glad you came back to cheer for Lin - with your own way.
DeleteI thought you already say goodbye to us in other thread? Anyway, happy new year to you!!
DeleteHe is so random lol
Deletemaybe he is coming back in 2013?
Deletedamn Lin with another miss behind the line :(
ReplyDelete2 missed threes already...He should try and shoot a jumper to get a better chance in making the shot.
ReplyDeleteThat's what the commentators say - when your shot is not going in, get closer to the basket rather than attempting long three's. However, as a point guard Lin (and Harden) often get the ball outside the 3 when the shot clock is running down, and they HAVE to shoot the three's.

Deleteyeah jeremy needs to keep taing those threes!
DeleteAh the steal and the layup finish were nice. If only Lin can knock down those open 3, then who on earth can stop him?
ReplyDeleteAnyone whos willing to make his nose bleed :)
DeleteI honestly get tired of looking at TD come in for Lin, IMHO TD will always be a liability on defense
ReplyDeleteHarden gets to the line too easily
ReplyDeleteDon't know when will his jump shot back. Sigh !
ReplyDeletesoon it will, give it time
Deletehate these announcers.
ReplyDeletethese jersey are so much better than those other ones.
ReplyDeleteAgree!
ReplyDeletewhy is TD handling the ball so much?
ReplyDeleteC'mon man, those 2 TOs got me scratching my head. Those were unnecessary TOs that make JLin look bad to the haters.
ReplyDeletenot only the haters..
DeleteI just hope JLin doesn't play to please the Haters.
DeleteMchale confuses me.
ReplyDelete-TD playing PG when Lin is in.
-Outlet passes rarely goes to Lin.
-Delfino keeps bringing the ball down.
-Lin standing in the corner again.
why is TD bring up the ball 4 out of 5 times?
ReplyDeleteAnd why is TD's and Lin's role switched? Scratching my head again. By the time this season's over, i think i will go bald.
ReplyDeletethe game makes me nervous, but you make me laugh. Thanks, iHoopsAlot.
DeleteThere's still a lot of experimentation going on with the players and coaching staff. DeleteI dont get it either but at least TD gives the ball back to Lin when Lin wants it. BTW - 18 pt lead???
DeleteHey,willy, watch out for Mchale may do some sub pattern or anything again that might ruin the lead.
DeleteIm sure McHale and and Sampson are already scheming
Delete"how do we screw this up?"
"dunno - like we always do?"
"ehhhh... like interrupt Lins flow by benching him?"
"yeah - that way we will also fall behind 10 pt at least"
"OK - lets shout at Lin also, just to be on the safe side"
"Right - lets do this - you look mad and I shout at him"
Lol...haha...Sound like a good scheme to me.
Delete20ft jumpshot is better than the 23 ft three jeremy....I must agree with the commentators
ReplyDeleteThat's why he need to do more mid- range.
DeleteLin to Douglas fast break play looked EXACTLY like that same play they did in New York!
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for Mo W. He couldn't do anything vs Lin.
ReplyDeleteLol not Mo but Lou*. Too much scratching my head lol.
DeleteEven though Jeremy can find his 3pt stroke...his mid-range J is looking NICE these days. He's hitting close to half of those in the past few weeks.
ReplyDelete*can't
DeleteLiking what I'm seeing just started watching now though.
ReplyDeletehow long do u think harden will be out for? punishment for a bad okc game?
ReplyDeleteThe rockets look like Team China in the Olympics with that uniform.
ReplyDeleteLol..reading some of ur comments..so Mchale is puzzling us again with the role again? He's trying new role switching?
ReplyDelete48-35. Huge 15-0 run by Rockets, coincidentally when Lin came in and Harden went out? Nah, too hard on Harden. Better defence by Smith, terrier like defence and offence management by Lin, huge three's by Delfino and Morris contributed.
ReplyDeleteAND 1!
ReplyDeleteEffect Lin and his basquet collective where everyone plays
ReplyDeleteThis is like old-school Linsanity.
ReplyDeleteUnstoppable going to the rim...lots of dumb TOs. LOL.
Yea! 3 dumb TO ! One was a failed no look pass.
DeleteI'd say two were dumb. One was a decent risk/reward pass.
DeleteThe Spurs game had 2-3 dumb TOs, though. He's been so much better about that this season, but lately he's been sloppy -- my guess is that he's taking more shots and thus fatigue is making him careless.
damn..i love his explosiveness
ReplyDeleteLOL WAT A BLOCK BY LIN
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteGet that weak stuff out of there!
ReplyDeleteWhy are you guys confused about why Lin camps in the corner and doesn't touch the ball? You can answer your own questions...when you play basketball, what do you do with your weakest link/crappiest player? You stick them in the corner and hide them and hope they won't hurt your team...

I hope this is not true, but you sound reasonable.
DeleteEPIC BLOCK/STEAL ON SMITH!!!
ReplyDeleteHow many point guards can even make that play? Jeremy does it once a week.
Thats LINSANITY!!!!
DeleteAh that block vs Smith from behind and stole it made those dumb TOs disappeared.
ReplyDeletenot really, his TOs are aweful
DeleteTurning the ball over is easy. Stealing it is tough. 3 TO but 2 ST makes -1 posession.
Delete' his TOs are aweful'. Disagree. The first TO should have been an assist if his team mate was awake or athletic enough to catch it and layup without anyone in front of him.

Man when the offense is going that's shit GOES
ReplyDeleteWhy the +\- in boxscore vs the Rox sky rocketed in negatives when they were leading vy 20? Scratching my head again.
ReplyDeleteThey just corrected it. Its OK now. Same thing last game.
Deletejust tuned in.. the new Rockets uniforms look like hotdog with lots of mustard...
ReplyDeleteSurprise lin got more minutes first half
ReplyDeleteit's bc we're playing a eastern conference team, i.e., not a very good team. When we play a western conf team, they'll limit his minutes again because they still see him as either a role player or liability.
DeleteThey are 19-9, though. And the East's BEST road team at 8-4.
DeleteI agree, a tep up up from garbage minutes
Delete@k.smith. You kinda right. Though hawk is holding the third spot in east. But the rockets seems to have good record against teams from east. I feel it too but don't want to say it. Last game with okc or the spurs is relevant to what you talk about.
DeleteJeremy sporting a mohawk haircut tonight LOL!
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't care about look lol! But why always get a Yao ming's hair cut?
ReplyDeletethe teams with best defenses are all in the West - Thunder, Spurs, Grizzlies. so far Jeremy shredded the Grizzlies. in the East, so far the only one with known best defense is the Bulls, but Jeremy shredded that known defense last Christmas. Heat is catching up with D though. lots of trapping the ball handler to force TOs.
ReplyDeletehalftime thoughts, anyone? where is wiffle square?
ReplyDeleteProbably counting down the time of 2012 somewhere! I do like his half time report too!
DeleteWhat's up with Chandler Parsons trying to get his? Rockets fans only love him because they drafted him.
ReplyDelete9 minutes into third and I have yet to see ANY Rockets pass Jeremy the ball...
ReplyDeletelate to the game...
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Happy new year!
DeleteHi, JLinfan#1: we need a new thread.
ReplyDeleteParsons hasn't finished a contested layup in weeks.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. It's hard to recall him making one this season.
when will Josh Smith enter FA? hopefully Morey will go after him.
ReplyDeleteParson is trying to force and get his stats.
ReplyDeleteLin looks, umm really hott.
ReplyDeletehot as in basketball or hot as in "he's f**kin' gorgeous with his new jersey and hair cut"?
DeleteNew hair cut, new jersey for new year! A good fresh way to start then!!
DeleteParsons and Harden (Coach's pet) are f*cking everything up.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I dont like the Rox's mind set about each other's roles. They need to be clearly defined
ReplyDeleteMcHale waited until his favorite son Parsons wasted about 5 possessions before taking him out lol. If it's Lin, he would be taken out after maybe 2 missed shots.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we Should tell jlin to get some loving secret skill from parson, how he did it with Mchale.
Deleteguys, new thread..
ReplyDeleteguys, new thread.
ReplyDeleteParsons with 2-9 fga contributing to come back by Hawks. Coach needs to make plays for either Harden, Lin or Morris to take the shots. However, maybe Hawks are deliberately letting Parsons free and defending harder against the others.
ReplyDelete3-4 lost assist for Lin. Teammates can't catch or finish. Even Harden.
ReplyDeleteHarden's defense on L. Williams sucks.
ReplyDeleteLin steals and a long pass - Del scores. 4+ left
ReplyDeletethen Harden steals.
