One guy to watch out for on Memphis is Tony Allen. I grew up watching the Celtics and this guy was always money! He was unfortunate to be the 6th man the whole time in Boston probably because of horrible management decisions and politics. They saw Tony Allen as someone who couldn't shoot or couldn't handle the ball, but his explosiveness, hangtime, and defense was incredible. I think he really should have been a starter the whole time. Luckily he is a starter now after proving so many people wrong an just flat out outplaying the opposition night in and night out like our buddy Jeremy.
Not a bad game so far, the Rox are pushing the pace well even though it didn't exactly start off well (that TO by Harden). Lin has really been pushing the pace on transition, even though he is not finishing too well himself. Both Lin and Harden are being Very Well Defended, as we expected.
why is clyde b.itching about Lin not guarding Conley? Isn't Harden on Tony Allen? He's playing even better than Conley. They only point out Lin though.
One thing is for sure, its a good thing Griz seems to not know what to do with Harden, and they're shooting horrible...Missed like 3 open looks already...
- It's a high scoring first quarter! That's very good for the Rox, which means they are controlling the pace and not letting the Grizzlies get into their comfortable, slow Knicks-like pace.
- Both backcourts are really, really good, but I think the Rox have the edge. I expected Lin to have some trouble with Conley but Harden letting Tony Allen score? Tony No Offence Allen? Good thing Harden is being highly productive on the other hand.
Jeremy is really, really good tonight on offence (except for that first TO). He's also going for the mid-range shot :) But driving into paint on that transition play against Tony Allen after a steal? Beautiful
If the coaches keep trusting Jeremy, there will be a LOT of wins to come.
It's like the excellent Coach Nick said on his bballbreakdown channel. To paraphrase...
He disagreed with all the haters and doubters pointing to Lin's low numbers early on as proof that he isn't real. "It's simple: they need to share PnR duties more evenly between Lin and Harden. If they do that, Lin will take off and so will the Rockets."
I think he even predicted a potential seed as high as 4th or 5th if they do. Coach Nick is a big fan of both Harden and Lin.
Thx for the link! Hey guys - I've been reading a ton of the posts on jlin.net, but this is my first post. Love this site and all the commentary you guys have here
not looking forward to 3-2 but more good defense and defensive rebounds from JLin cause the Roxs bigs are working hard on boxing out Grizzlies bigs so they dont get second chance rebounds/points.
- The game didn't start particularly well for Lin but he ended the second half fantastically. He was grabbing boards like a boss - obviously you need to step up the REBs against a team like Grizzlies, but it was telling that Lin and Harden outrebounded Parsons and Morris. Lin, along with (of all people) Delfino have been tremendous in pushing the pace, never allowing the game to slow down, running up the court or throwing quarterback passes.
- That race against Tony Allen was pure strength and power by Lin. A great scene between two physically impressive players.
- Defensively, I can't say that Lin and Harden have been particularly good. TD is also doing a lot of work on Conley. Harden had a number of defensive brain farts that was not always punished by Tony Allen. Yeah, Allen ain't an offensive superstar, but how many open shots is Harden intending Allen/Poindexter to have?
- The Rox frontcourt beat the Memphis frontcourt in scoring in the first game. They Rox frontcourt are on pace to outscore the Memphis frontcourt again.
Jlin's defense much better in 2nd quarter. Also, nice strong fast break by JLin with Allen hanging all over him. JLin needs to cut down on jumping in the air and not knowing who to pass to that result in TOs.
Note on defensive end, when Grizzlies guards managed to penetrate our perimeter D, defense on baseline side was quite empty. Grizzlies bigs do really well to spread the floor and empty the paint. Z-BO and Marky Marc Gasol really have range that demand respect
No reason for Harden to lose his man on the perimeter completely though. But I understand the hilarious impossibility of stopping Conley with only minimal help defence.
Everyone on the Roxs have mental lapses in defense. Hope they can really focus. Hey, young team what do we expect, right. Yeah whatever, we expect a lot so no excuses.
I'm just glad the coaching staff finally let Lin do things that Lin and all of us knew all along. Love Calvin Murhy....Lin is the first person he gave credit to at halftime report.
I'm sure the coaches were forced to let Lin play because Lin helped himself by taking the Harden-less Spurs game to show Les Alexander that he's no fluke - how can 35 games be a fluke, stupid people. I think that Lin ignoring the coaches in that one game was an inspired strategy, whether the inspiration was from his smart self,God or his family/agent.
Sorry - this comment was in reply to someone who said that he's glad the coaches are finally letting Lin play (can't find the post at the moment - im out of here to resume eatching the game).
Alert Alert! Don't mean to be theatrical but this could be very important.
Jeremy might need HELP? Shouldn't a doctor monitor Jeremy's brain?!!
The top of Lin's head was whacked by the dirty Marc Gasol's elbow with about 4 minutes left in the 2nd period. Gasol could have done on purpose because there seemed to be a follow through. If so it should be Flagrant Type 2. Probably because Lin is playing well.
Nobody seemed to notice, but when Lin touched his head in pain, they showed the replay off what happened. A brain that had been hit with hard or sharp object (elbow is both) must be monitored because of the delayed symptoms.
hopefully the team doc is monitoring. i worry about NBA players acting tough but they get hurt all the time.
going to watch Lin in the 4th. again no benching hehe. jeremy he.lped himself. God helps those who help themselves. jeremy showed he can play in that spurs game and mr alexander noticed. "lin can play. no more benching and disrespect!)
Lin is playing great tonight. Jumper going in. Did Lin really have his foot on the line again? He could be 35% from 3 this year with all those foot on the line 2's.
I really like Mike Conley, think he is highly underrated and is a true PG who can run a winning team. There is really no shame in Lin playing on par with him at this stage of his career. I won' even complain if Lin progresses as a player like Conley, maybe a little more aggressive offensively. I still like Lin more and think he has an advantage in height and athleticism but give me Conley over the likes of Lowry, Dragic or even All-Stars like Irving, Rondo anytime.
This game's in the refrigerator! The door's closed, the lights are out, the eggs are cooling, the butter's getting hard, and the Jell-O is jiggling....
Let's go Jeremy!
ReplyDeletejlin got this it's game over for conley
ReplyDeletefeel the wrath of an asian superstar pg on a mission biawtches

ReplyDeleteanywhere we can free live streaming of this game? TIA
ReplyDeletestream
Deletethank you!! :)
Delete:)
DeleteJeremy hasn't feeling his shot yet
ReplyDeleteJeremy is handling the ball mostly, but he is definitely playing timid.
ReplyDeleteIts like big men makes him nervous...Not sure why he went for the rainbow the defenders were flat footed. And his 2nd shot had too much arc...
Doing an ok job on Conley tho.
Not a bad game so far, the Rox are pushing the pace well even though it didn't exactly start off well (that TO by Harden). Lin has really been pushing the pace on transition, even though he is not finishing too well himself. Both Lin and Harden are being Very Well Defended, as we expected.
ReplyDeleteLol Rox haven't learned Asik can't catch low bounce passes...
ReplyDeleteNow that's what I'm talkin about go Lin! Shake off that rust! Nice trey!
ReplyDeletegood shot good look
ReplyDeleteThey keep this up game is in the bag (for Houston) go Parsons!
ReplyDeleteTrade Asik and bring in either Gasol, Tyson Chandler, or even Andrew Bynum, and the Rockets are contenders.
ReplyDeleteo yea G Smith is in
ReplyDeleteLin is benched for being too aggressive. Figures..
ReplyDeleteThey're killing Griz in transition but gawd the TOs are already piling up and giving free points to Memphis...Annoying :/
ReplyDeletethat was a terrible sequence by TD.
ReplyDeleteJlin needs to put pressure on Conley on defense and when he does he gets called for the foul. C'mon.
ReplyDeleteLin is going to have to be able to defend Conley tonight without getting into foul trouble, or else the Rox will have a problem tonight.
ReplyDeleteTD in now.
not happening. Conley is going to have a good game regardless. I can already tell.
Deletewhy is clyde b.itching about Lin not guarding Conley? Isn't Harden on Tony Allen? He's playing even better than Conley. They only point out Lin though.
ReplyDeletehe just called out Harden for his bad defence on poindexter
Deletebecause Harden took responsibility for it, making it okay for them to bring it up.
DeleteAlso, Parsons is CLUMSY with the ball. People overrate his ball handling and playmaking skills.
ReplyDeleteYes omg lousy TOs cause he couldn't dribble :/
DeleteSo is Asik.
DeleteOne thing is for sure, its a good thing Griz seems to not know what to do with Harden, and they're shooting horrible...Missed like 3 open looks already...
ReplyDeleteWow what a way to finish the quarter, nice 3 by Morris, and kudos to Harden for that snap pass wow...Griz couldn't do anything but watch lol :D
ReplyDeleteThere's no other way to win this game. They're are trading shots right now. Roxs MUST make defensive stops.
ReplyDeleteyeah...not sure if that's going to happen though.
DeleteEnd of 1Q thoughts

Ugh there's that jump pass turnover again...Lol someone plz tell Lin to stop that :/
ReplyDeleteHe got trapped with nowhere to go... should have kept his dribble. Easy to say of course...
DeleteI love it when Lin keeps on driving leading to a great assist after a TO because it shows confidence.
ReplyDeleteI love it considerably less when Lin is robbed off an assist because Parsons bricks an open three.
lol Delfino asking for the ball from Lin and Lin being like, "hell no".
ReplyDeleteLol Parsons need some size or what...
ReplyDeleteWow 0 - 4 tres guys stop it :/
ReplyDeleteLive by the three, die by the three.
ReplyDeletescrub line up, Lin not doing much.
ReplyDeletecan't believe how bad they just looked, WTF were they doing? Why was Lin not taking more control? Help me understand.
DeleteConsidering the Rox are ahead, I thought Lin was doing pretty okay.
DeleteThought he was fouled on that second TO though.
Rockets are taking too many threes, is Harden the only player with a green light to drive to the basket ??
ReplyDeleteA missed 3 pointer is like a turnover and giving up a basket in transition... Of course a real coach would know this.
The Rox aren't even the worst at this in the NBA. The game is really changing.
DeleteRockets without Harden, making the Grizzlies bench look better than the starters.
ReplyDeleteEveryone can ball on the Grizzlies bench
DeleteI hope Lin's knee is okay, he looks slow tonight.
ReplyDeleteJLin needs to back out when there's too much traffic in the lane eventhough he got fouled and lost the ball and ref didnt call it.
ReplyDeleteLOL Delfino is possessed tonight
ReplyDeleteLOL at that wide open Tony Allen shot that missed. *cue sarcastic remarks by HOU commentators* "good defence huh"
DeleteDelfino on fire!
DeleteJeremy is really, really good tonight on offence (except for that first TO). He's also going for the mid-range shot :) But driving into paint on that transition play against Tony Allen after a steal? Beautiful
ReplyDeleteGood to hear this positive news on Lin. I ll go head and predict a win. Let's see!
Deleteholy crap Lin is fast and has good anticipation. He's got it with rebounds too.
ReplyDeletegreat to see jlin out muscle them
ReplyDeleteGood team defense right just right now.
ReplyDeleteLin shot more than harden lol
ReplyDeleteHe played 3 more minutes than Harden too.
DeleteGreat first half by Jeremy! And you guys were worried!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing to worry about if Jeremy is allowed to play POINT GUARD.
Looks like Mchale finally came to his senses! Linsanity 2.0 will be on the menu this season...
Can't wait till the haters eat their words...again.
I can't wait for the game to be over now with a win. Lol.
DeleteIf the coaches keep trusting Jeremy, there will be a LOT of wins to come.

What about them defense!!! Delfino with them good steals. Rockets very active on defense so far.
ReplyDeleteJust so people know, that was Conley getting past TD.
ReplyDeleteWow, Harden doing it again.
Thx for the link! Hey guys - I've been reading a ton of the posts on jlin.net, but this is my first post. Love this site and all the commentary you guys have here
ReplyDeletewelcome! During games, you'll see more knee jerk reactions (from me, ha!).
DeleteU should comment more too! Would like to hear more people's thought.
Deletehaha thanks, i've seen your guys' comments on other threads, fun to actually go 2 way with y'all
Deletegreat game so far. lin for the trip doub!
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty tall order, he can but he need the minutes
Deletenot looking forward to 3-2 but more good defense and defensive rebounds from JLin cause the Roxs bigs are working hard on boxing out Grizzlies bigs so they dont get second chance rebounds/points.
DeleteIt's a good strategy!

DeleteGreat! Great! Now just continue all that Good things that need to continue in last two half then we done.
Deletethat drive by jlin was sick. i thought he was going to lose the ball again running at that clip, but he finished it like a bawse.
DeleteNo reason for Harden to lose his man on the perimeter completely though. But I understand the hilarious impossibility of stopping Conley with only minimal help defence.
DeleteFrontcourt are doing a lot of scoring from pick and rolls. Asik needs to cut down on fumbling the ball.

ReplyDeleteConley is not particularly flashy but he's quick and mobile and clever and he knows how to get his teammates involved. He puts up good numbers too.
DeleteThat was an ugly 3 from JLin. Dont understand why he can be so off sometimes.
ReplyDeleteeek, Lin's 3pt shot is bad.
ReplyDeleteLin is throwing up bricks.
ReplyDeleteAttack the rim, Lin.
Lin's long passes tonight have been incredible. (Too bad his three point shot has been making me cringe lol)
ReplyDeleteLin is an awesome long range passer I swear. Wow...that pass was perfect
ReplyDeleteBTW Harden has quietly got 21 points on 9 FGA.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow.
Now 23 on 10 FGA
DeleteBonkers
too damn efficient.
Deleteguys, new thread.
