  2. All right, this is the game where we see if the coaching staff will turn things around. I said after the 38 pt Spurs game that once Harden returned, things would go right back to the way they were before (Lin deferring to Harden). Some of you were not convinced because you felt that Lin didn't need to be aggressive during the Wizards game. Well, this is a "real" game. If Lin defers to Harden again this game, then it's a pretty clear sign that this is how it's going to be for a while. Maybe things will change slowly over the season, but the 38-pt game didn't change anything.

I'm predicting that things will be the same as before. I hope I'm wrong.

    1. Yes, this game will show IF Rockets' coaches saw the light after the Spurs game. If the same old thing continues, I will probably stop watching NBA games altogether and just look at Lin's game summaries. I mean if Lin's going to take less than 10 shots a game, who wants to look at Lin play defense? :)

    2. Actually, Lin's defense is pretty exciting to watch because he gambles a lot. Is Lin going to strip the ball? intercept the pass? make a high flying block? or give up an open 3?

That's way more exciting than watching him walk the ball to half court, pass to Harden, and camp in the corner. Or watching Lin sit on the bench during crunch time.

    3. And at least Lin isn't passive or deferring on defense. He's always aggressively looking to create a turnover. Even if his man gets past him, Lin is chasing him down to force him towards a big man, or attempting a block. He's always pulling down rebounds and looking to push the fast break. His defense has always been aggressive and anything but passive.

    4. real-dsb, the fact that for most games, Lin's D is more exciting to watch than his O says it all. :)

    5. people.. even if the coaches want to change things up they won't be able to do it now in such a short time. it's not as easy as "hey jeremy shoot the ball more". we'll prob see a slow migration rather than wholesale change of the schemes, if at all.

i agree that he needs to shoot when he's open but it's just not a matter of jeremy being more aggressive. i'm tired of hearing that word. it obviously means something different to jeremy than to people on this board. he's not going to take to them rim when his defender is sagging off of him and clogging the lane - that's just a turnover waiting to happen. he's also not going to take a 3 when someone else has a better shot. he's also looking to get the TEAM involved first and foremost and as he should as a point guard.

keep in mind.. harden will get his 20 shots a game and can create his own shots and make things happen. however, the others, such as ppat and asik and to a certain degree parsons need jeremy to create shots for them and assist them. if jeremy look to score first, he risks his other teammates (not named james harden) not being involved in the game and although that might make his stats look better, will not help the team win.

I agree, change won't happen overnight. What I don't like is when the ball goes down low into Asik and he is expected to make a post move. That always ends up bad. Jeremy needs to only pass to Asik if he has a mismatch or he is rolling to the basket.
      Good plays for Jeremy:
-Jeremy beats his man driving to the basket draws the wing defender, kick out for the open 3.
-Jeremy beats his man driving to the basket draws the opposing big man, drop it off for Asik, Smith, Morris or Patterson for the slam.
-Jeremy gets a high screen for an open look at a 3.
-Jeremy high pick and roll with big man. Pass off to big man for layup.
-Jeremy beats his man driving to the basket and finishes with a floater
      Bad shots:
-Jeremy passes to Asik with his back to the basket. Asik gets stripped or throws up a wild hook shot.
-Jeremy over penetrates and get blocked by the rim.
-Jeremy shooting a long 2 with his toe on the 3pt line.
-Jeremy passing the ball to Harden and then running to the corner.

    7. not disagreeing with you regarding the good plays, but in a PG role, passing ball to harden to get the half court offense started is NOT a bad play. it's only bad if the ball comes back to him and he doesn't take the open 3, or is indecisive with the ball.

  3. I believe the same will happen, Lin dribble to half court and pass to Harden. Sigh....

Rondo will have a triple double, or close to one.

  4. Change takes time. I really hope Im wrong but whatever... I just keep rooting for Lin and his Rockets. Nobody says that being a fan is easy.

  5. Is this game going to be any different? I don't see Harden being out, therefore, it'll be the same "asset" building offense as before.

Lin plays best for teams that have to win it all or very serious in championship pursuit. The Rockets are not there this season. Morey and the owner probably has repeated this to Lin many times--treat this year as an opportunity to work on pacing and other skills. Go play SG for awhile, work on threes, yup...Win win for both--Lin improves other facets of his game and Morey/owner has another asset to potentially flip. The only untouchable is Harden.

The only way Linsanity returns on a permanent basis this season is a trade to a veteran, pressure cooker in a big market team that needs a PG for an all-in, don't matter who gets points approach to winning a championship. The only team that fits that mold so far is Lakers.

    1. Lin shouldn't be such a good boy and listen to them. Heck, he should play the way he feels like it. What are they going to do? Trade him?

      Delete
    2. He's $25 Million dollar man now, he can do whatever he wants. Now that he made good money, he should do what he believes and is good for his game and say so. But stop saying "I tried to be aggressive" and then take less than 10 shots. You gotta take them to improve your shooting Lin. "You gotta take at least 15 shots per game", that's what his mom should tell him.

    3. Good comment, Pierrot. Unlike Lakers and Knicks, the Rockets does not have a huge fan base or rich owners to fund big stars. The owner has to develop rookies and sell them off in order to afford expensive stars. In this developing year, it seems that Lin's main job is to help others increase their stats.

  6. I agree, the coaches will not change anything harden with the ball most of the time. These coaches are just not good, I'm SO disappointed in Kevin McHale. We may also see the Tony Douglas playing the 4th quarter because he waves his arms a lot and has better defense over jeremy lin thing. Yes I'm frustrated with the Rockets, the entire organization. It looks like my boy jlin may have to get his chance on another team. sigh.

    1. His mom should also tell him: "Jeremy, you gotta move your arms more as if you are drowning and act like you are about to have a heart attack. Imagine Jesus getting crucified, so get mad."

  7. Man, following this blog even caused me to miss the following news:

    http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/12/14/shooting-reported-at-connecticut-elementary-school/?hpt=hp_t1

All I can say is damn . . . Gun law has to change. This cannot continue.

  8. What I've noticed is Jeremy will take an early long range shot. If he misses, he stops shooting the rest of the first quarter. He needs to keep shooting even if the first one doesn't fall. Harden, Delfino and Cook keep shooting even if they aren't going in. I like the 4 shots per quarter pace. Don't expect the Rockets to deviate too much from their current game plan.
    To win tonight:
-Asik needs to catch and finish (someone needs to tell him not to bring the ball down low where smaller players strip the ball)
-3-point shooters (Parsons, Delfino, Morris, Harden) need to hit their shots
-Forwards need to defend KG and PP mid range shots
-Harden and Lin need to get to the line

    1. To win tonight, the Rockets need to be on point in defense, rotation and transition defense.

    2. I've noticed that too. Toney Douglas kept shooting for an entire year even though they weren't going in. Believe it or not, Douglas had a higher 3-pt attempts per minute last year than Ray Allen. You can criticize him, but then again, I guess he had faith (and I mean a LOT of faith) that he was a good shooter and that eventually his shot would come back. Over a year later, it seems that Douglas has got his 3 pt shot back.

I'm not suggesting that Lin keep on chucking jumpers a la Douglas when his shot's not falling. But instead of becoming passive on offense, he needs to do other things: floaters in the lane, close range bank shots, drive and pick up free throws. If the coaches tell him to camp in the corner, Lin should refute that. Not because he's a selfish diva, but because that's not helping the team win.

    3. I want to see Greg Smith smith defend KG.
      Rockets by 5.
      Lin 14pts, 8asts, 5 reb

  10. I'm expecting Celtics to trap Harden heavily and clog the lanes when Lin touches the ball.

    If:

    - Lin plays passively this game is over after 1Q unless bench catches fire again, and expect Lin to get benched
    - McHale doesn't adjust and let Lin play PG and Harden at SG or maybe SF (maybe) this game is over by 2Q UNLESS Lin miraculously becomes a terrific spot up shooter overnight

  11. I agree that this will be a very telling game.

The Wizards game didn't mean much. Jeremy was playing on two sore ankles after a huge game. Harden was hot early on. And Jeremy still played pretty well in limited minutes, considering how many assists his bigs failed to convert.

Jeremy has to be in ATTACK mode. McHale will find any excuse to bench him no matter how he plays, so he might as well get his money's worth.

  12. Tonight, Jeremy Lin goes up against one of the dirtiest playing PG's in the NBA...

or we can all just turn off the TV and do something with your lives instead of jerking off to the Rockets.

    5. willy you are so misinformed to believe gun buyers are bad people. its all propganda to make you give up your rights and freedoms. you my friend need to break free from that type of hogwash.

Gun ownership is a right. its a right to be able to defend yourself.

the govt wants to take the guns away so they can abuse the people further without any resistance.

Sadly, most people here wasted all their time watching Jeremy that they have not developed anything useful.

      Wake up willy.
