I hope that the Hardliners can somehow catch Duncan on the side of the court opposite the ball.
I just can't figure out how to pry Duncan out of the midrange without a max contract scoring forward that has the athleticism to go over Duncan when Duncan steps over for the trap.
Sorry for bringing old comments onto new post. I just think mchale should just make up his mind who the #2 guy is. Be straight forward about it and move on so the guys know their roles. in my heart of hearts I think he believes its parsons. Fine if that's the case. Lin will have to accept but stop dicking him around. I ve used the expression "mchale's chasing his tail...and come up with same conclusion, whatever that is ?" Rox would be in a far better place had Mchale made some kind of commitment early. I can't believe we're still talking about it a third of the way into the season. One idea to ponder is, if lin was white or black would he be the #2 guy? Unequivocally yes!!! Hate to bring the race card into it, but we re left with nothing else to rationalize what the coaches are doing. Not talking about any game in particular but just the whole mentality and general air of lack of trust demonstrated. And it starts at the top no doubt.
On a Kevin McHale team, there is no #1 let alone #2.
It's whoever grabs the ball GOES.
McHale learned from Red Auerbach how to play "everybody ball". Generally speaking, old Celtics who've turned into coaches have the same egalitarian mentality as McHale.
Reading about the candidate's for Brooklyn...came across this on espn:
Houston Rockets assistant Kelvin Sampson has emerged as a candidate for the job, according to a source. Sampson coached the Rockets during Kevin McHale's leave from the team earlier this season.
*LOVE* it!!! (;~) (;~D) (;~O) (;~))). After all the derogatory and patronizing comments Sampson has made about Lin, he deserves it. True, his paycheck will be fat but as a head coach dealing with DWilliams, the mega overrated PG, he will be a bust..... They might replace the assistant coaching spot with a near-future head coach! (;~)))
I just read that myself and was about to post it if someone didn't already.
I would love for Sampson to get that job and leave as well. I don't think it will improve Lin's status or standing or how he camps in the corner 1 bit. Still, I really believe Sampson has something intrinsically biased against Lin and it's funny many Lin supporters also feel this way too.
To be honest, the way Jon Barry feels about Lin is about how 95% of the NBA media, Front Offices, scouts, and "experts" feel about him. Lin has a long long way to go before anyone is anointing him king of the court.
Since nobody is handing anything to this kid, he will have to simply become elite to maintain his position and improve his standing in the NBA. For Lin to stick, he will have to be super elite. Otherwise, the NBA would rather have more Acie Law's or Jon Barry's riding the bench than seeing Sun Yue or JLin taking a spot.
While I don't even believe that Khuang truly believes that Mchale and Sampson and the team are treating Lin right and putting him in positions to succeed, I do agree their hardass approach and belief that Lin is a limited bench scrub until he proves otherwise will either help Lin sink or swim faster than he would under other conditions.
If Lin is for real, he will come out of this experience even better, and/or become such a thorn in JHarden's side for being too efficient and effective at some point other teams will clamor for him or the Rox will be forced to give him a bigger role at Harden's & Parson's and whatever max contract guy's expense.
I'm predicting that the Spurs players will be focused on shutting down Lin tonight, after getting embarrassed by allowing a "scrub" to drop 38 pts on them last time. I think they'd rather give up 30 to Harden than Lin.
Hopefully, Lin can use that to his advantage and draw the double teams and dish out 10 assists.
The good news is that I'm getting the feeling that the failed experiment of making Jeremy a floater shooting, corner spot up shooter type player is over. The coaches have realized that Jeremy can't be Jeremy when forced to play a certain way that he's never played before. We the fans, would NEVER allow it as so many fans have complained.
I hope McHale runs more high screen PnR sets with either Harden or Lin with both Smith and Asik on the floor.... throwing the ball high for BIG GREG SMITH THROW DOWNS or ASIK PUT BACK DUNKS
Spurs are 8 point favorites tonight, which means.... expect the refs to be overwhelmingly anti-Rockets tonight. Jeremy will be in early foul trouble, preventing him from playing good D and he won't be getting any calls on offense, either.
Bottom line: Turn off your TV/Computer and do something else. It's a Friday night and the final days of 2012. Live your life and experience some meaningful memories... There's just so much to look forward to in life than a rigged game going against the Rockets, and there's so many lonely girls who spend all their time watching Dramas online because you all are spending all your time watching rapists and drug addicts fight over a ball and grinding their bodies against each other fighting for position.
Enjoy the rest of 2012 while it's still here, folks.
How dare Nemo criticize JLin! He should be punished being strapped to a comfy chair and forced to watch 400 episodes of Taiwanese Hokkien drama non stop.
What he said isnt that far from the truth though, expect lin or harden to get into foul trouble.
If the rox bc doesnt play well together tonight and go iso (yes jlin hogs the ball too when he gets frustrated) its gunna be a bloodbath. If they work together and set high pnrs duncan or no spurs will get blown out assuming everyone else plays decent d.
Two of Jeremy's best mentors, who made Jeremy Lin who he is today, go head to head tonight. Keith Smart vs. Mike Woodson.
Also, after checking out the latest All-Star votes, it's not fair how that bully, Jeremy Lin has so many votes compared to Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis, or Ray Felton. They are all levels ahead of Jeremy. Even the ex-number 1 pick, John Wall, who as included in the ballot even though he hasn't played this year, did not make the top 10 for Eastern Conference Guards. This is an outrage!!!!
Im not sure how i'll call this game because i was only able to watch the highlight last time. So i'll just based it on the final score. Very high scoring game. Its either little defense was played or both team went HAM on offense. I choose the latter on the Houston part because of Jlin. Since both team are capable scorer this will go on defense. The team who is more committed on defense today wins the game. In this case since the Rockets is a young team with obvious fresher legs and want to make a statement game against a more established team i will give slight edge to the rockets. Of course please no unforced TO. And I changed my mind about the all star voting. I registered today and voted JLin. His basketball journey alone makes him deserving to be an all-star.
Let's go , JLin! 'just have fun out there! God bless you and the Rockets!

Dont need a max contract forward... Just a defense specialist. Carmelo is a max contract guy but his defense is crap...so is james harden.
DeleteExcited for the Spurs game! praying for a 6th win and for a great game from Jlin!
ReplyDeleteAll the best to JLin and crew for a BIG game tonight!

Deletethat's why they lead the league in TO's. Too many guys handling the ball when they shouldn't be.
DeleteAsik's outlet passing is crappy for 2 reasons:
Delete1. Asik's own limited ability
2. NO designated outlet man so he throws it all over the place leading to massive unforced TO's
I will start it with a positive mind to predict a WIN for this game!!! Let's see!!!

ReplyDeleteTime to trade Parsons for Steve Novak. Novak alone would give Jeremy over 10 assists a game.

ReplyDeleteI'm worry about asik performance will affect lin .
ReplyDeletelet's just hope Asik got enough sleep. the guy can rebound even half awake but can't really perform well offensively when tired.
