You know, I was watching the first quarter, partially disgusted, partially with complete respect for the Spurs. I was thinking about how they all play with purpose and everything is so fluid. I was thinking I how it would be so nice for these Rox to develop into something like that one day (but with their own identity).
Then I watch how they come back in the second quarter, even taking the lead with one minute left in the half, and I think, one day might not be so far away.
This is a pretty good game so far for Lin. He has a solid line while being relatively quiet. I loved the charge he took from Duncan.
Waiting for Lin to explode. We have some ground to make up this quarter. Fourth quarter, baby. Would love to steal this one.
Jesus, they need to rest Harden. He's missing free throws and not playing D. Let lin and douglas play some minutes for god sake. Rox need Harden for the 4th quarter!
I know what you mean. The dude threw the ball away then ran back and made a lucky defensive play, and all they talked about was how awesome Parsons is at both end of the floor. This is such a joke.
Harden is gassed. It's official. McHale is an idiot. They will NEVER win Playoff against good teams w/ McHale. I'm fine with run and gun but you better go deep in to the bench if that is your plan.
Phil, go to NBA.com and look at stat sheet. Harden 41 mins. Parson 43 mins. And compare this to the Spurs starter's minutes. This is with OKC the next day. You can't win every game. But as a coach, you can't go all balls out and play your starters that kind of minutes when you have 4 games in 5 days on the Road. McHale is a f'in Idiot. End of story.
Last time Lin paD 38 pts and still lost and the rockets fb headline is lin's 38 pts is not enough to win the game with hardenless. So..what is the headline this time? Should be though with harden we still lost despite Jeremy Lin score xxpts.
at least Jeremy's 38 pts last game brought them to OT. if only McHale rested Jeremy on 3rd and brought him back mid-4th, there would be no OT and the Rockets could have bagged that game.
Yes...but the rockets don't want to put it that way with the headline..that's I why I so pissed when I see the hardenless word in it...see...this time with harden in and score 33pts they still lost. Now I wonder what will they put this time...
SUPER fast pace plus several GARBAGE time TOs late. You have to look at TO%.
The reason they lost was Duncan abusing Houston bigs in the 2nd and 3rd. Nobody in the NBA could have stopped him tonight. Amazing post moves and screen setting.
Game Over. I'm not surprised by the outcome. Popp was well prepared for their 3rd match up of the season. The Rockets coaching staff need to start creating more set plays or else elite teams will keep beating them.
Our guys were tired... I could see Lin just gasping for air... I hate to see them play another game tomorrow, especially against OKC... But it was still a good game over all :)
Some careless TOs in the first (the others were great defense). Yeah, it would be nice to see him hit a couple more 3s, but he makes up for it with great finishes in traffic.
Duncan and the Spurs were just too good tonight. They would have beat ANY TEAM in the league (OKC, Heat, etc.).
Seriously, Duncan was amazing. Not just post-scoring but setting superb picks for Parker. We all saw what happened when Parker tried to take Lin without a screen -- Lin domination. But with Duncan screens? No one could stop Tony.
Harden needs to start playing defense. He is such a blackhole on defense, minus the treys green drained on him over and over this would have been an easy Rox win.
Both Harden and Lin needs to visit Micah Lancaster and get some handles.
Lin needs to stop the damned high dribbles up the court, so annoying watching him doing the same dumb things and get cherry picked by defenders with long reach.
Stop low bounce passes to Asik, and why pass to him when he is surrounded by 3 bigs is beyond me.
lol at Douglas Lay-up. Oh well if they made those FTs this game could be more competitive but Pop might even have an answer to that. Pop's timely substitution are also keys.
jeremy lin was gassed because he was playing so much d fence, K huang is always right about that...Jlin is one the best defensive guards I have ever seen
5 tos from parson, 5 for Lin , 5 for harden. So even. Harden's turn over rate this season is so much higher than Lin but no body talks about it or notice it. I hope this game the haters fans don't go again to blame on Lin a turnover machine.
Yea..Lin got 21 pts. So what harden still got that high 33pts on the team. Harden is still the one rockets Fans will praise.
"Harden's turn over rate this season is so much higher than Lin but no body talks about it or notice it."
One possible reason that no one talks about it is that this statement is incorrect. Lin's TO rate is 13.5% of possessions; Harden's is 11.7%.
You can be a lover of Lin (and I know that you are) but when you write a post like this it makes you sound like a hater of Harden. Maybe you are, and that's your prerogative, but basing it on misinformation and then drawing sweeping conclusions on it makes you look foolish.
all I know is I look at their box score every game and their tos every game. You can say I am wrong or foolish but don't say I am a hater of Harde! I actually don't care what other people sees me! That is just the information I get and I am not dare to say it!
This is what I see in the box score from Oct 31 to the end of Nov. Of How I got the "biased and miss lead" information you said I have toward Harden. Lin: 4,3,3,2,4,0,2,2,3,3,3,5,4,3,3=44 Harden:4,5,5,6,5,5,2,1,4,5,2,6,3,4,3=60
I will not go check the Dec again. but this is where I got from.
You know, I was going to let this go, but since you obviously haven't:
My point is that the number of turnovers, which you are counting, is not the same as the turnover rate, which is what you have written in your first post. I get that there might be a language barrier, so I'm not going to harp on that.
Nevertheless, there is a distinction. Harden plays more minutes than Lin, so even assuming (yes, I know) they handle possessions equally, Harden would have more TO's if they had the same turnover *rate*.
But they don't, Lin is at 13.5% and Harden is at 11.7%. Harden's TO rate is not "so much higher"; it is in fact lower.
One last thing, don't put into quotes something that wasn't actually quoted. Very bad form. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt again, but "basing it on misinformation" does not equal "biased and miss lead".
Lemme show you how it works:
"Yea..Lin got 21 pts. So what harden still got that high 33pts on the team. Harden is still the one rockets Fans will praise."
What are you trying to say here? Are you implying that one can't be a Lin fan and a Rockets fan at the same time?
You don't really have to answer, these questions are rhetorical. But please don't misquote me again.
But I remember in the news and my teacher said that al gore( maybe spell wrong) should get it. They some how messed up the votes in Florida I think. That's how bush end up second run! Anyway...you are right though. And this can related to the stupidity of the deserve problem Lin has for all star. Does bush deserve to be second run? I hope the average people ask that too!
Gawd... McHale seems like a nice enough guy and I think he maybe a good team "leader/motivator..." I dunno exactly how he does off the courts. But, he and Sampson's sub pattern are soooo frustrating to watch. This is the same shit I saw last time they played. POP's subs saved energy for his starters for the 4rth quarter while Mac's subs completely destroyed stamina of his starters... results: tanked out in the 4th quarter and completely tanked out in OT. Tonight is the same f'ing shit. Played Harden 41!!!!! count em 41!!! minutes. I hope for sake of the Rox and Harden's KNEES McShit will wisen up and rest these guys. And this is with them playing OKC the next DAY. HE is SSSSOOOOOOOOOO STUPID!
Go to NBA.com and compare the minutes of the two teams. I SAY Fire MCSHIT. Even if you lose ONE game it's not the end of the world. just a few minutes here and there in the timely spots can really refresh your starters. I've been saying the same thing for the last 4wks. Poor Sub patterns and poor Timeouts manifested over and over.
Did Jlin hurt his wrist? I saw him hold it couple of times...hmmm
But got to give it to Spurs, in the last minutes, they played better D and converted as well. Their ball movement and court spread are better.
Some matches are just tough, atleast ROX didnt give up and was always on the bounce. But the entire team need to have more of Defence mindset, not just JLin alone.
If 1st quarter was even, Rox would have won this game.
I blame Harden for first quarter's massacre. JLin having to come back and catch the team up, fking bullsh*t.
I am FULLY convinced Harden cannot be in charge against any team with smart coaches, you need Lin. When Lin is in charge, pace picks up, ball moves. Harden in charge, you get stuck in halfcourt sets and they get killed...And you are left with a giant blackhole on defense.
Lin + TD was a great answer...But soon as they catch up they put Harden back in...Pop sees right through that bs and exploits Harden all night.
Guess what OKC is going to do tomorrow? Exploit Harden like the defensive whore and offensive ballkiller he is.
Why not play Greg Smith when Duncan was on the bench? Why not rest Parsons and more importantly, Harden? No can play 41-43 minutes per night in this run and gun style of play and expect to finish strong. NOT Even half court offense starters can handle those kind of minutes.
First, most NBA people think like Jon Barry and think Lin is a scrub. Whether it's Jlin's style of play, his skillset, his perceived lack of smooth style of play, they don't have the guts to let Lin lead. Lin just has to play so great till it dawns on a GM to let Lin have a go.
Harden will forever be what he is. He is not a ballhog. But he is told to be the "spear" and the team's Lebron so what's he gonna do? Defer to Lin? It is what it is....
Too many turnovers. Poor perimeter defending the 3s. Too much Duncan inside. SAS played a good game and Rox didn't have enough horses to run with them. Played hard and right to the end so have to give the Rox that. Chandler - looks like he's playing for his next contract.
I gave props to the coaching in the previous game but today's rotations were ??? Where was Greg Smith? I thought TD was alright and they should have played 3 guard more. Morris disappeared.
One of the big problems against SAS is that they are one of few teams that can play at Rocket's breakneck pace.
Except SAS do it with finess.
Look at their sets...Just absolutely beautiful. And don't even get me started on their perimeter rotations, its clockwork. Rox looks lost at times running and chasing the ball like bunch of kids after an ice cream truck.
Add to Harden's blackhole defense...Sigh.
Even then Rox has a chance thanks to JLin, for as much crap I give for JLin's every mistake, I am fully convinced if he was put in charge the whole game Rox would have won.
But the suspect rotations and Harden's blackhole defense...And predictable offensive sets.
They would have won the first game (38 points and still Lin didn't really dominate the ball in the first half). But not this one. Spurs and Duncan were just too good tonight.
If Houston had a dominant low-post scorer like Lamarcus Aldridge or Al Jefferson, then they would have won, but a guard-driven team won't win without a little luck (cold opponents' shooting, friendly/fair refs).
The Rockets got punched in the mouth early and fell behind big, but then they landed their own haymakers and came back, led by none other than Jeremy Lin. Lin played a hell of a game tonight, nothing at all to be ashamed of. He played with swagger and showed brass balls. In that second quarter comeback Lin was a freaking beast!
The Spurs couldn't miss all night, yet the Rockets hung with them most of the game. But alas, the Spurs are just so so good. Really fun game to watch, but on to the next game!
Well, after watching this game, it becomes quite apparent that for us to become a truly contending team, we will need a third star; either at center, or most likely at power forward. Kevin Love is great, but if I'm honest I'm thinking if only Amare Stoudamire would remain healthy for the next two years, he'd be perfect... It's a risk I know, but think about it: he plays the pick and roll perfectly and we know he'd fit quite nicely with JLin, so how about it? What do you think?
LBJ. Solve a lot of problem. But that is too easy and not realistic. What really need to happen is the Houston bench need to develop into a good 2nd unit. When more than 2 of the starters are not doing well, at least the bench can help. Tonight, there was no help from the bench except TD.
Heh, I agree with you, we need a much more reliable bench that can stand up when needed. It's just that it seems that the truly great teams in the NBA have three go-to guys, and we only have two. Yes, Parsons is doing well, but he's not a go-to guy. I mentioned that because of the news that the Knicks are trying desperately to unload Stoudamire to anyone for anything. They know he and Carmelo will never work out so they're just trying to make him go bye-bye whichever which way they can. I know he's a liability vis-a-vis his knees, but when he's healthy he's perfect for a Jeremy Lin based offense, and let's be honest, we need someone that can play solidly against the Tim Duncans and Kevin Durants of this world...
agree on iHoops, plus one scoring big swingman who can play both PF and C - my votes go to Jefferson or Millsap. with regards to PG, hopefully Beverley's a good sub coming from the bench.
Heh I agree with you all, it's just that I feel that we need someone that can play the pick and roll well with Jeremy. If only we had that, I feel that we would be pretty much unstoppable. The pnr is tailor-made for Jeremy , and do you think Millsap or Jefferson could play the pnr decently enough?
Heh, you might as well add "all we need is a good PF like Duncan".
We could do far worse than McHale. But for fun, now that there are all these available names being thrown around in AJohnson's wake, who would you like to have instead? Gotta pick someone other than Phil ;).
3 Games in 4 nights. The Rockets just couldn't keep up with that torrid pace of play. Where as the Spurs is on a home stretch playing just one game at home on Wednesday night. Tired legs leads to missed shots and turnoer. I thought the Rockets played well as a team. Spurs is just a solid veteran team. Just chalk up tonight's loss as a SCHEDULE LOSS. Of the three Spurs games this season, this has been the best team game the Rockets has played.
Schedule loss... yes in part, but mostly poor coaching. namely subbing but many other areas as well. McHale WILL NOT have much post season success. I hate this Rox talents get wasted by such an Idiot. I hope the someone in the organization will confront this issue. I wish it was just sub pattern, but it's coaching in general as I have pointed in previous threads which is distressing.
@NOM, definitely the OT game was my favorite LIN game! I thought Harden probably put a little too much on himself and PRESSED in the 4th quarter. I think this is where the lack of time to develop on-court CHEMISTRY between Lin and Harden really shows. I think Harden will figure out how to pick his spots and trust Lin more if he is playing well... part of his job responsibility that comes with a 5/80 paycheck is to lead the team to win!
If lin didnt underestimate green, would have been Rox win. Not blaming anyone, the loss wasn't on Lin, just saying it could have been won if he didn't let green disrupt him...Maybe used the PnR...Or better yet, dribble lower...
Folks, Rockets no answer for Tim Duncan and Parker PnR. They had Jeremy on Parker, fighting to get through screens, and many times Parker would just take nice uncontested jump shots. When this happens, don't you double team a PnR? Otherwise, it's 2 on 1. Brink someone in to help guard the PnR like the Heat.
I have to give it to the Spurs, they shot the 3-ball lights out tonight. Green was 4 fo 4 in the first quarter I think. When the Spurs shoot this well, and the Rockets center position was nil tonight, there is little chance of winning. Asik was horrible, can catch nor finish. Aldrich, was lost, and not a scorer or good PnR player. I would much rather have Smith in there to Pulverize the Spurs. :) He gives good effort.
I kept posting same suggestions over the last few days. Rockets defense against long range shooters is poor. Only Parson and Jeremy raise their hands to defend. Harden is the worst one. He is a great scorer and can not foul out. It's not too much to ask by raising your hand to defend. Is it? Sometimes, you need to run over/jump higher to block the views. I noticed 60% of the time that worked. Not everybody is Ray Allen. Most of them will fail. Harden were double team many times and he had no way to pass out. Someone has to come & get the ball. There got to be one free man. I have noticed it time &time. Do the coaches notice that? They lost this game on 1st qtr. Green had those shots way too easy. Jeremy Lin, take care. you guys have a tough game tomorrow. Please let your coaches work on these two issues.
Its not just the hands but they have to stay closer to their man. Harden was playing off Green so much it was a joke, and it wasn't because he was help defensing either. Just lazy D. And that foul with the shot clock winding down and Parker trapped, that was a brain fart.
You know, I was watching the first quarter, partially disgusted, partially with complete respect for the Spurs. I was thinking about how they all play with purpose and everything is so fluid. I was thinking I how it would be so nice for these Rox to develop into something like that one day (but with their own identity).
ReplyDeleteThen I watch how they come back in the second quarter, even taking the lead with one minute left in the half, and I think, one day might not be so far away.
This is a pretty good game so far for Lin. He has a solid line while being relatively quiet. I loved the charge he took from Duncan.
Waiting for Lin to explode. We have some ground to make up this quarter. Fourth quarter, baby. Would love to steal this one.
Man if only Harden knows how to play D. He would be a mega superstar.
ReplyDeletebut i think he can maybe he felt like his offense will be affected if he plays more defense. lets see in the play-offs.
Deleteand that was foul on Jeremy because?!!?!?!?!??!?
ReplyDeleteasik getting eaten alive
ReplyDeleteNobody can stop Tim when he's on.
DeleteDuncan is TOO GOOD.
ReplyDeleteBut Jeremy and James are killin' it, too.
Parsons making some nice 3s to make up for blown layups and bad decisions.
McHale is an idiot. Lin was on fire.
ReplyDeleteFreaking McHale acts like JLin is 42. In the name of angry fans, just let the kid play.
DeleteMan. Lin, Parsons and Harden were totally clicking and dominating. Lame lame lame
Deletehe probably dont want lin to pick up his fourth foul.
Deleteas a lin fan, the game is so damn boring when he's not playing.
ReplyDeletenow they're gonna give td extended minutes.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteRockets need to trade for a good PF
ReplyDeletewhy the hell does parsons always take the ball up court...he should have passed earlier to lin...and mcfail why the hell did you take lin out already
ReplyDeleteMY floor general Lin is taken out when he's just starting to get hot. I hope he comes back 4th Q
ReplyDeleteLin is 4th Qtr guy. Let him rest and it will be about the 4th Qtr. The young team will win.
ReplyDeleteat this rate there will be no gas left for the OKC game haha
ReplyDeleteJesus, they need to rest Harden. He's missing free throws and not playing D. Let lin and douglas play some minutes for god sake. Rox need Harden for the 4th quarter!
ReplyDeleteWell, he has to sit now after picking up his 5th foul. Let's see what Lin can do 4th qtr!
DeleteHarden's too damn tired. And they have back to back game tomorrow night. McHale is very VERY Shitty at subs.
DeleteOmg, they look like a headless snake out there without JLin. Arghhh.. This is f'ing frustrating.
ReplyDeleteLin is balling again this game. Love seeing it. This team can win this game.
ReplyDeleteleave harden in and take parsons out lin harden and td on the court
ReplyDeletesit harden's ass and let him rest for a bit. he's a mess.
ReplyDeletetold ya'll to sit his ass down.
DeleteLin to save the day.
ReplyDeletehaha 5 on harden lin will run the show now
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Deletequestionable call
DeleteRocket may need him for the 4th qtr
Deleteoh dear.. Crawford is not even officiating and there are questionable calls...
ReplyDeletewhat the hell are these announcers saying? Uhm, Chandler turned the ball over.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. The dude threw the ball away then ran back and made a lucky defensive play, and all they talked about was how awesome Parsons is at both end of the floor. This is such a joke.
Deletethe ball was going into harden wayyy to much, didnt even know he had 4 fouls. why would mcfail leave him in the game??
ReplyDeleteGood question!
DeleteLin's like thanks James I'll take it from here. Puts up 30 to win the game.
ReplyDeleteWill linsanity 2.0 begin tonight?
ReplyDeletewith the way the refs are calling it? I doubt.
Deletenotice how lin just keeps everything calm???
ReplyDeletehe is too calm. He need to drive and shoot. Too much passing!!!!
Deletedamn those 3pointers by spurs. Earlier its in the paint now its behind the arc. They need some defensive stop. And Lin no more fouls.
ReplyDeleteJlin is not being aggressive enough, he needs to drive it in for layups.
ReplyDeleteToo many long arms in the paint. Need outside shooters to drain a few
DeleteJeremy being too unselfish...resulting in unecessary passes.
ReplyDeleteStill time to make a move, but they need Linsanity not a pure PG.
Tough to play agressive with 4 fouls...
DeleteExactly willydilly, and seeing as how refs are making calls they'll give Lin offensive fouls for being too agressive, like the last one he got.
DeleteDamn ! Ended up like this ?
ReplyDeletedamn 5 to's by lin already
ReplyDeleteoh dear why do Spurs just have to have good 3 point shooters....
ReplyDeleteWhen Jlin is playing D on Manu he cannot go under the screen he needs to go over the screen or else Manu will kill him on outside shooting.
ReplyDeleteeek, that was ugly.
ReplyDeleteWho can save this game? We got no big man to defense !
ReplyDeletewth was that??
ReplyDeleteYou don't do a floater going 1 on 1...you take in it to the body for a contact layup.
ReplyDeleteJames Harden getting bail out foul calls when he drive sit in...
ReplyDeletewow i didnt realize harden already has 5 personal fouls
ReplyDeleteLol Harden getting schooled so hard
ReplyDeleteCook is a liability along w/ Aldrich at this point. Sub in Greg smith. Where is Delfino?
ReplyDeleteI think it's game over! Delfino out ! Asik is in shit! Well!
ReplyDeleteBad switch on the screen leading to an Aldrich foul on Parker
ReplyDeletewhere the heck is Greg Smith!?!?
ReplyDeleteThey are getting killed at the post...on the perimeter, everywhere, this game is over
ReplyDelete6 min left, time for Linsanity.
Deletethis game is over. JLin, just pad your stats. Get a double double tonight.
ReplyDeleteLOL, my thoughts exactly. He deserves it considering McHale's misuse of him earlier in the season.
DeleteLol Rockets just chucking up shots with 0 plan.
ReplyDeletethe rockets bigs are getting toyed. Where is Greg Smith.
ReplyDeleteRockets have no good set plays, it's all ISO or PICK N ROLL!!!
ReplyDeleteThis loss goes on the coaching staff...Coach Popp is wayyyyyyy toooo GOOD a coach, to let them keep being effective on iso and pick n roll...
Rockets coaching staff need to step up...
I guess the spur really come prepare for this game so well...don't know what strategy Mchale prepare to win this game.
ReplyDeleteWow thry're losing by 15pts and lin has +28? What did I miss in 3Q, did Lin spank that ass?
ReplyDeleteEveryone's tired and Jeremy picked up four fouls too soon.
ReplyDeleteMake no mistake: Duncan was the difference.
Rockets would have ran away with this in the 2nd and 3rd...but Duncan scored at will no matter how good the defense.
so much chaos on the court, guys just chucking up shots.
ReplyDeleteHarden smiling on the reach in foul :) Hes got swag
ReplyDeleteWow. Cold streak at the wrong time. Lin needs to take more shots. Harden can't play his game right now and is a defensive liability.
ReplyDeleteRockets set plays are too predictable...they need to add more to it.
ReplyDeleteGet to 20, Jeremy!
DeleteLOL. Come on. You guys know you want it.
At least last time Lin helps bring the spur to ot. Now what...I guess the spur coach figure so well how to play the rockets then
ReplyDeleteHarden hero ball ends the game.
ReplyDeleteHarden is gassed. It's official. McHale is an idiot. They will NEVER win Playoff against good teams w/ McHale.
ReplyDeleteI'm fine with run and gun but you better go deep in to the bench if that is your plan.
Ppat is injured and so is Delfino. Not much depth after those 2
DeletePhil, go to NBA.com and look at stat sheet.
DeleteAgreed!!!
Deletespurs are legit
ReplyDeletethey got 2 teams.
Deletethis is vs the Spurs who runs 2 teams. Jeremy, just pad your stats in this game.
ReplyDeleteLast time Lin paD 38 pts and still lost and the rockets fb headline is lin's 38 pts is not enough to win the game with hardenless. So..what is the headline this time? Should be though with harden we still lost despite Jeremy Lin score xxpts.

DeleteYes...but the rockets don't want to put it that way with the headline..that's I why I so pissed when I see the hardenless word in it...see...this time with harden in and score 33pts they still lost. Now I wonder what will they put this time...
Deleteprobably they will pick on Jeremy's turnovers and disregard James' and Parsons' turnovers...
DeleteDuncan is the best at setting good moving screens...
ReplyDeleteTHEY CAN STILL MAKE IT! Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeletenot giving up. :)
DeleteLin and 1! Dang, more of this please!
ReplyDeleteAnd 1
ReplyDeleteThe success Rox have had is due to raw talent of Lin and Harden. I've seen nothing but interference from the coaches.
ReplyDeleteyour right, they always f**king stop the pace at wrong times during the game
Delete3 min behind can Lin turn on G mode and save the day? C'mon 15-0 run here we come!
ReplyDeletethat is what i am talking about, drive and shoot Lin. Harden has cool down.
ReplyDelete24 TO ! That's why they lost this game!
ReplyDeletenew season high.
DeleteTake that with a spoon of salt.
DeleteSUPER fast pace plus several GARBAGE time TOs late. You have to look at TO%.
The reason they lost was Duncan abusing Houston bigs in the 2nd and 3rd. Nobody in the NBA could have stopped him tonight. Amazing post moves and screen setting.
damn jlin 1-5 from the free throw
ReplyDeleteMissed FT? Come on, Jeremy! We want that 20.
ReplyDeletewow that was a big 3 from harden they need to get the ball back more stops
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteomg :/
ReplyDeleteWOW nice Lin!
ReplyDeleteOh NOW they turn on the heat...lol game over stat padding time
ReplyDeleteLin with 21.
ReplyDeleteHehehe. Nice silver medal for us JL Fans.
Jlin is tired...he put up a good fight and effort. Good job Jlin.
ReplyDeleteMissed shots, missed FTs, these guys are gassed. Parker blowing by Lin with ease now.
ReplyDeleteWell well. Spurs shots were falling. Rox had bad TOs. Again - I dont understand Rox sub patterns. Gotta kick OKC ass.
ReplyDeletehttp://i.imgur.com/RmIZb.jpg
Harden was -17. Man. They shoulda sat Harden down earlier and let Lin carry the team. He loves playing against Spurs for some reason.
ReplyDeleteHarden was one of the main reasons they lost besides coaching
DeleteGame Over. I'm not surprised by the outcome. Popp was well prepared for their 3rd match up of the season. The Rockets coaching staff need to start creating more set plays or else elite teams will keep beating them.
ReplyDeleteOur guys were tired... I could see Lin just gasping for air... I hate to see them play another game tomorrow, especially against OKC... But it was still a good game over all :)
ReplyDeletenext. OKC
ReplyDeletewell if the Wolves can defeat Thunder.. why not the Rockets
DeleteRockets will beat Thunder tomorrow.
DeleteJeremy gets an 'A-' grade from me.
ReplyDeleteSome careless TOs in the first (the others were great defense). Yeah, it would be nice to see him hit a couple more 3s, but he makes up for it with great finishes in traffic.
Also, FOUR steals tonight to offset the five TOs.
Lin become aggressive too late.
DeleteDuncan and the Spurs were just too good tonight. They would have beat ANY TEAM in the league (OKC, Heat, etc.).
DeleteSeriously, Duncan was amazing. Not just post-scoring but setting superb picks for Parker. We all saw what happened when Parker tried to take Lin without a screen -- Lin domination. But with Duncan screens? No one could stop Tony.
I sense Duncan really respects Jeremy. like, real respect for the kid.
DeleteSA 8 straight @ home.
Deleteyup Duncan is the man. Tony parker is one lucky PG.
DeleteI agree. They're VERY similar players in a way.
DeleteSuper well-rounded, super "intangibles" and very mature in their skills and relatively calm demeanor.
If only JLin will pair up with a future Duncan like talent, then the NBA will be a definitely must watch event on TV.
Deleteat least they didn't give up. bad lost good game.
ReplyDeleteSo pissed off they could have won this game.
ReplyDeleteHarden needs to start playing defense.
ReplyDeleteToney gotta eat too!
DeleteI don't blame him. He's playing for his next contract (final year of his current one).
An extra garbage time bucket here and there might be worth extra $$$.
jeremy lin was gassed because he was playing so much d fence, K huang is always right about that...Jlin is one the best defensive guards I have ever seen
ReplyDeleteGood point. Lin is max effort all the time. Man, if Harden swarmed like Lin Houston would dominate.
DeleteThis game was so badly reffed. The entire 4th quarter was a joke. Flop after flop and that jump ball foul on Harden....
ReplyDelete5 tos from parson, 5 for Lin , 5 for harden. So even. Harden's turn over rate this season is so much higher than Lin but no body talks about it or notice it. I hope this game the haters fans don't go again to blame on Lin a turnover machine.
ReplyDeleteYea..Lin got 21 pts. So what harden still got that high 33pts on the team. Harden is still the one rockets Fans will praise.
@lydia
Delete"Harden's turn over rate this season is so much higher than Lin but no body talks about it or notice it."
DeleteThis is what I see in the box score from Oct 31 to the end of Nov. Of How I got the "biased and miss lead" information you said I have toward Harden.
DeleteLin: 4,3,3,2,4,0,2,2,3,3,3,5,4,3,3=44
Harden:4,5,5,6,5,5,2,1,4,5,2,6,3,4,3=60
I will not go check the Dec again. but this is where I got from.
@lydia
DeleteYou know, I was going to let this go, but since you obviously haven't:
This is the first really great Lin performance on a Friday. Usually McHale benches Lin for no reason on Fridays.
ReplyDeleteLol, really? Glad he broke the tradition! I wonder though when he would've put Lin back in (if at all) had Harden not picked up that 5th foul.
DeleteI can hear the 'cockroaches' calling Jeremy the "Taiwanese turnover", not knowing that even Harden has 5 turnovers.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it, Harden was playing like sh*t today, even SAS won't touch this one.
DeleteJeremy -1, Harden -18, nuff said.
Correction: Jeremy -1, Harden -11
DeleteYou gotta ignore that. Remember: half the country voted for George W. Bush. TWICE.
DeleteThat's how stupid the average person is.
knowing Jeremy haters aka 'cockroaches', they won't see that.
DeleteBut I remember in the news and my teacher said that al gore( maybe spell wrong) should get it. They some how messed up the votes in Florida I think. That's how bush end up second run! Anyway...you are right though. And this can related to the stupidity of the deserve problem Lin has for all star. Does bush deserve to be second run? I hope the average people ask that too!
DeleteWhy did they played Aldridge so much tonight instead of Smith? Aldridge is clumsy.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely agree. Where is Smith???
DeleteThat's a good question. Maybe a light injury/soreness we don't know about?
DeleteOr maybe Aldrich has played well against them in the past (with OKC).
Smit, foul trouble.
Delete*Smith
DeleteGawd...
ReplyDeletePlayed Harden 41!!!!! count em 41!!! minutes.
I hope for sake of the Rox and Harden's KNEES McShit will wisen up and rest these guys.
And this is with them playing OKC the next DAY.
HE is SSSSOOOOOOOOOO STUPID!
agreed, Mchale subbing is horrendous
Deletethe rocket lost this game playing badly on the first qtr. Compound that with Asik bad night, there is no way they could have won this game.
ReplyDelete@Charles
DeleteAgreed re: first quarter. Happy to see someone else recognize that a point is a point, be if a first quarter point or a fourth.
Re: Asik bad night - his production for minutes played was as great as it has been these last few games. Refs/coaching is what made him a nonfactor.
Duncan was the main difference tonight. Rocket's Aldridge and Morris were not even close to Duncan's performance tonight
ReplyDelete@Unknown
DeleteTo be fair, when Duncan plays like he did tonight, is anyone close? :)
Go to NBA.com and compare the minutes of the two teams.
ReplyDeleteI SAY Fire MCSHIT.
ReplyDeleteBut got to give it to Spurs, in the last minutes, they played better D and converted as well. Their ball movement and court spread are better.
Some matches are just tough, atleast ROX didnt give up and was always on the bounce. But the entire team need to have more of Defence mindset, not just JLin alone.
Got fouled on the and 1 I think.
DeleteIf 1st quarter was even, Rox would have won this game.
ReplyDeleteI blame Harden for first quarter's massacre.
Exploit Harden like the defensive whore and offensive ballkiller he is.
agreed
DeleteHope the Rocket won't be too tired after tonight game.
Deletetomorrow, Lin + TD with a hot hand + Parsons + Smith has to step up.
DeleteWhy not play Greg Smith when Duncan was on the bench?
DeleteWhy not rest Parsons and more importantly, Harden?
No can play 41-43 minutes per night in this run and gun style of play and expect to finish strong. NOT Even half court offense starters can handle those kind of minutes.
First, most NBA people think like Jon Barry and think Lin is a scrub. Whether it's Jlin's style of play, his skillset, his perceived lack of smooth style of play, they don't have the guts to let Lin lead. Lin just has to play so great till it dawns on a GM to let Lin have a go.
DeleteHarden will forever be what he is. He is not a ballhog. But he is told to be the "spear" and the team's Lebron so what's he gonna do? Defer to Lin? It is what it is....
I guess Rox will never win a championship in the next 3 years. Lin is better off somewhere else then.
DeleteHarden != LeBron...Cause LeBron can score, and he HELLUVA VERSATILE DEFENDER...
Harden can't defend my dog.
man.. Harden you need to pass the ball man
ReplyDeleteToo many turnovers. Poor perimeter defending the 3s. Too much Duncan inside. SAS played a good game and Rox didn't have enough horses to run with them. Played hard and right to the end so have to give the Rox that. Chandler - looks like he's playing for his next contract.
ReplyDeleteI gave props to the coaching in the previous game but today's rotations were ??? Where was Greg Smith? I thought TD was alright and they should have played 3 guard more. Morris disappeared.
One of the big problems against SAS is that they are one of few teams that can play at Rocket's breakneck pace.
DeleteExcept SAS do it with finess.
Gawd let Lin do his job and run the team!
Yeah, agreed, one other note is that we missed alot of 3s and they made it count on 3s!
DeleteThey would have won the first game (38 points and still Lin didn't really dominate the ball in the first half). But not this one. Spurs and Duncan were just too good tonight.
DeleteIf Houston had a dominant low-post scorer like Lamarcus Aldridge or Al Jefferson, then they would have won, but a guard-driven team won't win without a little luck (cold opponents' shooting, friendly/fair refs).
This was a good loss, if there is such a thing.
ReplyDeleteThe Rockets got punched in the mouth early and fell behind big, but then they landed their own haymakers and came back, led by none other than Jeremy Lin.
The Spurs were on fire tonight. They are feeding off of everyone including the refs and the announcers.
DeleteFeeding off the refs hahaahahaha!
Delete@fearoflittlepeople
DeleteI completely agree.
Yeah I think Spurs are like 3rd in the league in scoring @ 104.9.... really fun game to watch!
DeleteWell, after watching this game, it becomes quite apparent that for us to become a truly contending team, we will need a third star; either at center, or most likely at power forward.
ReplyDeleteLBJ. Solve a lot of problem. But that is too easy and not realistic. What really need to happen is the Houston bench need to develop into a good 2nd unit. When more than 2 of the starters are not doing well, at least the bench can help. Tonight, there was no help from the bench except TD.
Delete@alpha128
DeleteI think STAT is so overvalued at his contract that there is no way he will be a Rocket.
I would love to get Love. We'll see if that plays out; I think chances are slim, but then again maybe there's the McHale connection.
DeleteAll we need is a good coach like Pop.
Deleteagree on iHoops, plus one scoring big swingman who can play both PF and C - my votes go to Jefferson or Millsap. with regards to PG, hopefully Beverley's a good sub coming from the bench.
DeleteHeh I agree with you all, it's just that I feel that we need someone that can play the pick and roll well with Jeremy. If only we had that, I feel that we would be pretty much unstoppable. The pnr is tailor-made for Jeremy , and do you think Millsap or Jefferson could play the pnr decently enough?
Delete@iHoopsAlot
Delete"All we need is a good coach like Pop."
ReplyDelete@slash29
Delete"Of the three Spurs games this season, this has been the best team game the Rockets has played."
I dunno, I kind of have a soft spot for the OT game :)
Delete@NOM, definitely the OT game was my favorite LIN game!
DeleteYep OT was the best...But Rox sucks in OT.
DeleteIf lin didnt underestimate green, would have been Rox win. Not blaming anyone, the loss wasn't on Lin, just saying it could have been won if he didn't let green disrupt him...Maybe used the PnR...Or better yet, dribble lower...
Kenoshi, all 4 of Green's 3 in 1Q came with Harden playing non-D on him. The only good thing was Harden got 2 fouls called on Green and he had to sit.
DeleteFolks, Rockets no answer for Tim Duncan and Parker PnR. They had Jeremy on Parker, fighting to get through screens, and many times Parker would just take nice uncontested jump shots. When this happens, don't you double team a PnR? Otherwise, it's 2 on 1. Brink someone in to help guard the PnR like the Heat.
ReplyDeleteI have to give it to the Spurs, they shot the 3-ball lights out tonight.
Duncan got away with a lot of moving screens when he set the pnr's for parker. they got a ton of points of these no-calls
DeleteI noticed the same thing. Jeremy ate a lot of Duncan's armpit hair. Sorry for the crass imagery...
Deleteguys, new thread.
ReplyDeleteI kept posting same suggestions over the last few days.
ReplyDeleteRockets defense against long range shooters is poor.
