Lin looking uncomfortable in the first few minutes. Starts off with a TO, and nearly follows up with another TO later (pass intercepted and hit out of bounds).
This is because Lin hesitates to shoot; he's trying to force the passes instead of shooting. Man, if you cannot shoot against Calderon defending you, that's not good. Dougie will come in soon.
I'm actually kind of pissed off at that run of play. No reason to be that sloppy. I mean, that is completely unacceptable. McHale calls a timeout but keeps him in the game. Lin tries to make it up when Harden passes him the ball for an open 3 but he misses.
Lin's D (not that long shot) has been poor in this game. Looks like a scrub. Now, when Lin is playing like this, I am all for coaches putting Dougie in. Actually, I recommend Dougie coming in here.
Three TOs in less than 9 mins for Lin right now. This is horrible, horrible, horrible play. I don't know what's going on. I haven't seen Lin play this bad ever.
LOL, Mchale doesn't take JLin out until 3 minute is left in the 1st quarter when he's playing like shit, but when he plays alright he yanks him. McHale just keep effen with JLin's confidence you gonna get some inconsistent shit.
@eb5attorney I am normally with you man but McHale obviously gave him a pep talk during the timeout and McHale obviously wanted to see if Lin would execute what he told him.
I didn't see the pep talk but if you say so, I believe you. Maybe the fact that the game is being played on Sunday and Lin couldn't go to church is the reason for his lousy play. :)
No, don't believe me. I was making the assumption because McHale called a timeout and he didn't sub out Lin like basically everyone expected. I might be wrong. I am just kind of pissed off so I might be a little irrational right now. :(
His second TO happened when he was pulling up for a shot near the... right elbow (I think)... and for some reason he decided to pass out of it, leading to a TO and fast break.
That nearly made me hit the desk, I am not kidding. And I don't usually get that worked up during games.
Man, Dougie playing well also. This is the first time I have seen Rockets playing much better without Lin and that Lin's play was the cause for Rockeks' being down at the beginning.
I actually wrote a bunch of stuff but it came off really angry and dismayed at Lin so I deleted all of it and am going to say: That was one of the worst quarters I have ever seen from Lin and indeed one of the worst performances I have seen from the point guard position. Awful.
I hope Lin comes back in the game with the right mindset, or else 27 minutes is going to look like a loooong time.
After that Spurs game when he said someone told him passing up shots is a selfish act. So why doesn't he want to shoot the ball? May be he felt they way he's playing against the Spurs is selfish and it cost them the game??
Stop talking about Lin like he's some kind of wimp. There are thousands of basketball players who would love to be averaging 30 mins a game in the NBA.
How would you be after having the most complete game of your career and two games after they sit you the whole 4th quarter like if you are nothing? He is not a wimp, but basketball players are people. To me it seems like Mchale has no confidence with Lin. I mean look at the games. What is Lin's job? Who knows... That affects the players.
What I know about Lin is that he's a player who has suffered through some of the worse stuff that NBA basketball has to offer. He has been relegated to the D-League. He has been cut. His response was Linsanity.
Nothing McHale is doing is anything close to what he has gone through. The world fell in love with Lin because of his toughness. I think it is still there.
I just hope his lousy play during this game pisses him off so that he explodes against Knicks. That might be the only good thing coming out of this game.
Time was running out, so he had to take the shot without thinking too much. Less thinking = better shooting and playing for Lin, I noticed. So far, Lin is being clearly outplayed by Calderon.
Looks like JLin just doesn't give a shit anymore. I'm actually fine with it. He's in the back of the huddle during a timeout with 49 secs left. JLin should just tank so he can get traded.
No, I think Lin has to keep on playing hard. Several times, Lin raised his hand to show that he was wide open for shots, but Harden didn't pass to Lin at all.
Lin is not that kind of person. Nothing at all about him tells me he is a scheming person or a person who isn't all about the team. Unless you are using some kind of weird "calculating Asian" stereotype.
- Jeremy Lin getting blocked by Ed Davis just about sums up Lin's offensive game tonight.
- Calderon is 5 of 8 from the field. Calderon just called Lin a great player, and I think he means it. Lin should prove Calderon's comments true.
I actually don't know if Lin is going to play another minute in this game. I think McHale SHOULD play Lin. Lin was kind of poor in the first half vs the Raptors (as the commentators remarked) and he came back roaring in the second half. If there's a time to show confidence in Lin the time is now.
Not playing his aggressive style on offense or defense, not even going after loose balls and steals.
Lin got his layup swatted badly by Ed Davis, but at least he's starting to attack and go for his shot now instead of playing the stereotypical passive Asian.
Lets hope the Rockets get it going in the 2nd half. This is a must win to build momentum going into NY.
Morris should sit down the whole 4th quarter for missing that last shot. ;) lol
In all seriousness though. I like to call things as I see it. Lin is playing with no confidence and we all know why. Whoever can't see that, hasn't play sports in a team with a coach. And for those who think that basketball players are super human, newsflash they are not. Another thing is that Lin is a Christian. And as a Christian I can relate a little better to his situation. He has nowhere to go and doesn't know what to really do, he just follows what Mchale tells him and I can't blame him for that. But Mchale system is not a system that uses Lin's potential at all. It is not PG dominant. And I don't know if its ok to be mad about that, but I would definitely prefer for Mchale's system to accomodate to Lin but that's maybe because I'm a Lin fan and want him to do good. Even though I also think that the Rockets would benefit from a system that uses Lin as the dominant ball handler.
On another note, I hope that Lin does away with Mchale's system tomorrow. It would be great to see him do some Linsanity in MSG. But, as a Christian. I doubt Lin would do it. The only reason he did it sometimes with the Spurs game was because Harden was out.
Who knows maybe he will have an opportunity to make the game winning shot. Harden takes the shot, the ball comes out and gets tipped to Lin who drills a long 3 for the win. I can dream. :)
You know how there is dreams that you don't know if you are dreaming or not. Well that is not one of those. That sounds more like one of those dreams where you go. "This HAS to be a dream!" lol
Yes he is. You can see his play when he drove and made that pass. You could see his aggressiveness. He also has this stance where you know he is going to attack and that's what I like to see from him. Asking for the ball. But OH MAN! If Mchale takes Lin out right now when he is warming up Ima be mad!
Oh man I'm MAD! Harden misses like 10 shots and just makes 2 layups but he stays in the game. Lin starts to warm up and guess what!? He is out! Mchale, seriouslly. You are driving me CRAZY!
It is not that he needs rest. Its that ANYBODY of course... except for the coaches.. Can tell that Lin is starting to warm up. LEAVE HIM ALONE!!! Harden missed like 10 shots and what do you do? Of course, nothing. I just don't get it.
How come I was expecting this. Harden misses like 10 shots. Well obviously he stays in the game. Lin starts warming up? Well he needs to come out. What is Mchale thinking? Who Knows!
lol... IF and that is a big IF he puts him back in the 4q. I would think of giving Mchale a break. But, I'm not sure. That is because once you are warming up, you got to keep going at it not be sat down. So, we will see what happens. Some thing tells me he will put Lin back in the 4th. But my common sense tells me that he wont.
Give Lin a run around 4 mins into the 4Q. If he plays even nearly as bad as he was in the first quarter, feel free to pull Lin out and give him a scolding. But show him enough trust to give him at least a few mins.
He won't but if for some miraculous reason Mchale puts him in. Lin needs to show him why he needs to play in the 4th. He needs to take the game over and forget about everything. Do what he did when Linsanity began. Play his game.
Lin is playing the same as Parsons. Parsons sucked this game also. i like the fact that Lin is taking more shots. Gotta take more than 10 shots a game at least.
- I am not going to say Lin has had a good quarter. It was okay. It was decent. But compared to the first half, it was a vast improvement. He was shooting, and making shots. He was driving to the lane. Did he overdribble sometimes? Was he forced to pick up his dribble? Yeah, but so what? These things happen when you are trying to penetrate. And in any case, he committed 0 turnovers. That's taking care of the ball.
- Asik can't catch a pass today.
- A lot of Harden's production today has been from the line. You can't breathe on him without getting whistled for it lol.
Unless Lin gets to play and then play out of his mind in the 4Q, it's going to be an ugly statline. But I am happy he managed to find his groove in the 3Q.
Lin really needs to play in the 4Q, and if Lin plays well the team will be better for it.
If coach let him play in the 4 th . It's funny how in last season with Knicks Lin is being called mr. 4th quarter and when he came to rockets he become the Mr. No 4th. Probably Mchale didn't really watch any games Lin play with the Knicks.
lol. Well it seems that for some ODD reason McHale put Lin back. I just hope Lin takes the ball, and takes the game. Because if they lose, we already know who the blame is going to.
Well... McHale would probably say TD has committed no TOs today and was generally playing non-awful, and that he was really angry with Lin for the absolutely terrible 1st Half.
I mean, I can completely understand McHale for leaving Lin out if winning the game was his only concern - Lin's recent streakiness makes putting him in somewhat high risk - but in terms of long term development/relationship putting Lin back in is the right thing to do.
As I have said, if Lin sucks, just pull him out immediately. No one would blame him, the way Lin played in the first half. But give the young man a chance to redeem himself.
Alright, I have to disagree with you here, Lin's awful play in the first half was definitely partly to blame tonight. It's a team game though, and it certainly wasn't only his fault, nor were the other Rox players free from blame, but Lin absolutely helped to put the Rox in a hole.
Lin's good 3Q helped keep the Rox in it though, and that shouldn't be ignored.
McHale needs to get smith out of the game, he might be good sometimes but this game he can't even catch the damn ball!! and Lin is playing the ball like William Hang again!
Oh BS. Calderon played 4 more minutes to begin with and ACTUALLY handled the ball. He needed the rest. Jeremy isn't even being used and yet he's playing 25-30mpg this past week. McHale yanks him whenever he warms up. Ruins his rhythm and confidence.
McHale is either a complete moron (very possible) or he has some sort of personal agenda -- we already know he hated Morey for signing Lin and letting Dragic go). But Lin then made him look dumb with his epic 38/7 game and I'm guessing McHale wants to "take him down a peg."
Don't worry guys. McHale will be fired by next season. You honestly think Les and Morey see him as the "coach of the future." LOL.
Fire this P.O.S. bastard McHale. Kick Sampson's dumbass out the door while you're at it.
It's like they're consciously trying to ruin Jeremy's career, mess with his head and embarrass him publicly. He's an outstanding 4th quarter player...and they keep benching him no matter how he plays! How the hell can a PG gain rhythm and confidence when he's not even allowed to handle the ball or play minutes???
If he's not going to handle the ball, he should at least be playing HEAVY minutes (38-40). You can't turn him into Derek Fisher AND play him only 28mpg
Demand a trade, Jeremy. Go public. The way he's been treated is so disrespectful.
Worthless scumbags. McHale's ass is already good as fired. He was going to be canned anyway -- which is why he was so pissed before the season began. He knew he's just a stopgap "transition coach."
But now this clinches it. He lost the Rockets a lot fans and foreign dollars because of his treatment of Lin.
Tonight really, really, isn't about McHale... There are nights when you can say McHale was being inappropriate for benching Lin but tonight really isn't one of those nights...
That said, Lin is playing some real good defence in the 4th quarter right now.
wiffle you know whats funny. Tonight we could argue that Lin could have been benched. And then he wasn't. But the days he shouldn't had been benched he was... Go figure.
That's true jp2123. But in the end we wanted McHale to play Lin and we got what we wanted. We shouldn't be blaming him for that, I think. Plus Lin is playing an OK 4Q so I can't say that McHale made a mistake by leaving Lin in.
@zxcvb I think you are overreacting but I was getting quite pissed off in the first quarter so I understand we all overheat sometimes. I just think that McHale sometimes gets flak for no good reason around here.
I wouldn't mind Jeremy being benched with reason -- the Laker game is a good example.
But you MUST reward him when he plays well -- Jeremy was even benched for a crucial portion of the Spurs game!
And you MUST let him play through some rough patches. Even Toney Douglas is allowed to play through rough patches. Harden starts games 1-6 and 2-8 all the time, but he's allowed to play through it.
And you MUST let him be a POINT GUARD. Don't bench him because he's not Steve Novak. I'm sick of this crap and "fans" defending McHale disrespect of Jeremy. I used to be like that, guys. No more.
Yeah, I don't disagree with any of your points, actually. But tonight he did let Lin play - I mean, he was awful enough in the first half that some of us (ME NOT INCLUDED) were saying to just keep Lin benched all the way. McHale did try to let Lin play through tough times tonight. At least give him credit for that.
omg why are they shooting 3s in closing minutes of the game when they can drive in for a 2 or a foul, basketball basics!! drivings higher percentages!! NEW COACH PLEASE!!!!
Lets Go Jeremy!
ReplyDeleteLets Go McHale!
ReplyDeleteLin looking uncomfortable in the first few minutes. Starts off with a TO, and nearly follows up with another TO later (pass intercepted and hit out of bounds).
ReplyDeleteWow... two TOs in less than 4 mins of play for Lin. What is going on.

DeleteHe'll be benched now.
ReplyDeleteHe is gonna bench lin quick
ReplyDeleteAsik isn't an offensive player, stop passing it to him!
ReplyDeleteAsik really doesn't complement the Houston offense well.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteAnother turnover trying to pass to Asik.
DeleteI hope you aren't trying to blame Asik for that one...
DeleteCalderon is making all kinds of shots right now
ReplyDeleteLin's D (not that long shot) has been poor in this game. Looks like a scrub. Now, when Lin is playing like this, I am all for coaches putting Dougie in. Actually, I recommend Dougie coming in here.
ReplyDeleteHe is making Calderon look like an All-Star.
DeleteYeah he deserve to be bench.
DeleteThree TOs in less than 9 mins for Lin right now. This is horrible, horrible, horrible play. I don't know what's going on. I haven't seen Lin play this bad ever.
ReplyDeleteSeriously can someone figure out WTF is going on his mind??
ReplyDeleteHe's lost his edge somehow.
DeleteI don't blame Rockets' coaches at all if they decide to play Dougie more than Lin this game. Lin trying to force the pass, while hesitating to shoot.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Mchale doesn't take JLin out until 3 minute is left in the 1st quarter when he's playing like shit, but when he plays alright he yanks him. McHale just keep effen with JLin's confidence you gonna get some inconsistent shit.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you they should have taken Lin out more quickly here.
DeleteHe was obviously trying to let Lin play through it. God, this is NOT a McHale issue now.
Delete@eb5attorney I am normally with you man but McHale obviously gave him a pep talk during the timeout and McHale obviously wanted to see if Lin would execute what he told him.
DeleteRockets playing well without Lin, actually looking more free flowing.
DeleteNo kidding. Rockets actually up by 1 now after being pummeled while Lin was in the game.
DeleteI didn't see the pep talk but if you say so, I believe you. Maybe the fact that the game is being played on Sunday and Lin couldn't go to church is the reason for his lousy play. :)
DeleteNo, don't believe me. I was making the assumption because McHale called a timeout and he didn't sub out Lin like basically everyone expected. I might be wrong. I am just kind of pissed off so I might be a little irrational right now. :(
DeleteI don't know why he doesn't make any pull up jump shot ,every pg do that a lots but he seems like never do it.
ReplyDeleteHis second TO happened when he was pulling up for a shot near the... right elbow (I think)... and for some reason he decided to pass out of it, leading to a TO and fast break.
DeleteThat nearly made me hit the desk, I am not kidding. And I don't usually get that worked up during games.
Man, Dougie playing well also. This is the first time I have seen Rockets playing much better without Lin and that Lin's play was the cause for Rockeks' being down at the beginning.
DeleteI don't know why Lin keeps passing to Asik. He has a hard time catching the ball. He should know that by now.
DeleteHarden + Lin + Asik, big deficit. Harden + second team, back on top.
ReplyDeleteLooks like team is doing much better when douggy is in the lineup. Have a feeling that his team mates dont like Lin!
DeleteIt looks like he is not gonna have more than 20 mins this game
ReplyDeleteSmith is so much better at low post.
ReplyDeleteMy boy Smith with 2 quick hoops.
ReplyDeleteMy First Quarter Thoughts:
ReplyDeleteI actually wrote a bunch of stuff but it came off really angry and dismayed at Lin so I deleted all of it and am going to say: That was one of the worst quarters I have ever seen from Lin and indeed one of the worst performances I have seen from the point guard position. Awful.
I hope Lin comes back in the game with the right mindset, or else 27 minutes is going to look like a loooong time.
It must be those busy asian girls that Lin is seeing. Making him turnover three times with less than 5 mins of play. Just horrid....
DeleteBUSTY NOT BUSY***
DeleteMan, if Lin plays like this against Knicks on Monday, Knicks fans are going to be thinking "Thank God we let him go."
ReplyDeleteWow, Mchale is def going to keep playing Doggy over Lin. Since duggy took over, they have been running the offense extremely well compared to Lin.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone could disagree. You should say "Dougie" rather than "Doggy". It sounds disrespectful. :)
DeleteAfter that Spurs game when he said someone told him passing up shots is a selfish act. So why doesn't he want to shoot the ball? May be he felt they way he's playing against the Spurs is selfish and it cost them the game??
ReplyDeleteMan that spin jumper to airball by Delfino was a real braindead move. Delfino is so damned goofy.
ReplyDeletewow john lucas... a saviour to the raps. Hits 2 threes..
ReplyDeletehere comes lin.... he better get his act back on
ReplyDeleteLin is back in the game. Keeping my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteMchale's plan is finally paying off. Lin playing with no confidence at all. I wonder why? If I were Jeremy Lin I would be emotionally exhausted.
ReplyDeleteStop talking about Lin like he's some kind of wimp. There are thousands of basketball players who would love to be averaging 30 mins a game in the NBA.

Deletefinally a point...!
ReplyDeleteLin makes a jumper. No hesitation. Just swish. That's how it should be.
ReplyDeletelets see if it continues to do that or not. he better continue with that mentality
Deletei thought he was going to pass it too
DeleteTime was running out, so he had to take the shot without thinking too much. Less thinking = better shooting and playing for Lin, I noticed. So far, Lin is being clearly outplayed by Calderon.
Deleteho-say
Deleteraptors are horrible. rockets should be ahead of them by atleast 10. God
ReplyDeleteouch...
ReplyDeleteShould have done a reverse layup on that one.
ReplyDeleteCalderon said nice things about Lin. I like him more now. Ha, ha.
ReplyDeleteWhat did he say? Keep turning the ball over and missing shots.
DeleteCalderon said Lin is a great player.
DeleteLooks like JLin just doesn't give a shit anymore. I'm actually fine with it. He's in the back of the huddle during a timeout with 49 secs left. JLin should just tank so he can get traded.

DeleteJust venting my frustration. Dont mind me.
DeleteIt's alright Racha. Sorry if I sounded rude to you too. I am also quite frustrated.
Deleteno worries i'm fine man.
DeleteI know Racha doesn't fold that easily. You know why? It's not like there is another Asian-American NBA player to follow. :)

Deletebench him yo
Deleteman stop being such defeatists lol
Deletei'm psychologically damaged. can't take it no more. i cant stand mchale. now i cant stand jlin. they're driving me nuts man.
DeleteYes, it's not over until the fat lady sings; that's why sports is exciting.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with Asik too? His hands are made up of gummy bears. He needs to spread super glue on his hands before he plays next time.
ReplyDeleteThat's just Asik being Asik.
DeleteJust like we sometimes call Jeremy "Eremy" for having no J, we should call Asik just "Mer" because he has no O!
Not playing his aggressive style on offense or defense, not even going after loose balls and steals.

DeleteLin's on the court for the 2nd half! :)
ReplyDeleteyeh but most likely will be benched throughout fourth q
DeleteAnd HOU starts the half... and two TOs already. (Lin not involved in the stupid plays)
DeleteAnd Parsons blows a layup. WTH is going on
Deletethey trying to screw lin over? Or someone is. thats how i perceive it...
DeleteHEY ROCKETS the Raptors are totally packing the paint. Have you considered perhaps trying to stop trying to force passes into the paint? THANKS,
DeleteRegards
People with eyes
cuz if team does bad, Pg is the problem. Thats how i see it.
DeleteRob walker. It sure seems that way. Even if the pg we talking about had nothing to do with it because he doesn't play like a pg in this team.
Delete2 pts 0 assists. Omfg !
ReplyDeleteJlin is either demotivated or he needs to go back and work on his shots seriously, hes missing open look shots like crazy
ReplyDeletemisses another layupppp
DeleteThat's ok. You gotta take those.
DeleteLin attacking the basket more now. Leads to one assist to Asik and one missed shot that is finished by Asik in a put back.
ReplyDeleteTHat's how it should be
Man ! That shot was ugly
ReplyDeleteIf Mchale takes lin out now I'm DONE!
ReplyDeleteWill probably take Lin out for around 7 minutes. Perhaps Lin wil return last 4 or 5 minutes.
DeleteI don't think McHale will take out Lin now. Fingers crossed.
DeleteWelp I guess I was wrong
DeleteLin is looking MUCH better. Nice three!
ReplyDeleteLin is a GAZILLIOn times better when he's looking for his shot.
Yes he is. You can see his play when he drove and made that pass. You could see his aggressiveness. He also has this stance where you know he is going to attack and that's what I like to see from him. Asking for the ball. But OH MAN! If Mchale takes Lin out right now when he is warming up Ima be mad!
DeleteAgree. He made several good plays. When he looks for shots, he creates open teammates. I think his 3 point shooting is improving.
DeleteMan the Toronto commentators are major homers. One of those guys is so screechy and overenthusiastic. I wanna throttle that guy.
DeleteOh man I'm MAD! Harden misses like 10 shots and just makes 2 layups but he stays in the game. Lin starts to warm up and guess what!? He is out! Mchale, seriouslly. You are driving me CRAZY!
Delete\whats this lin making shots?
ReplyDeleteand lin gets subbed out.

DeleteHow come I was expecting this. Harden misses like 10 shots. Well obviously he stays in the game. Lin starts warming up? Well he needs to come out. What is Mchale thinking? Who Knows!
ReplyDeleteSigh. I'll forgive McHale if he brings Lin back for a good chunk of 4Q.
Deletelol... IF and that is a big IF he puts him back in the 4q. I would think of giving Mchale a break. But, I'm not sure. That is because once you are warming up, you got to keep going at it not be sat down. So, we will see what happens. Some thing tells me he will put Lin back in the 4th. DeleteCalderon is putting on a clinic in PG play, I have to say. Never seen him pass this good.
ReplyDeleteAsik the butter fingers.
ReplyDeleteHold your breath guys... Here comes. The 4th quarter. Who can guess what is going to happen?
ReplyDeleteLin breaks out with 20 points
Deleteand gets a W for Rockets and Mchale will apologize for what he has done to lin for the last few games
DeleteMan Rob, you are the most optimistic guy I have seen lol. I hope, oh I hope. The question is... Will Lin play in the 4th tonight? Who knows...

ReplyDeletetd bank is going crazy
DeleteThree quarter thoughts:
ReplyDelete- I am not going to say Lin has had a good quarter.
Lin really needs to play in the 4Q, and if Lin plays well the team will be better for it.
good post i agree
DeleteIf coach let him play in the 4 th . It's funny how in last season with Knicks Lin is being called mr. 4th quarter and when he came to rockets he become the Mr. No 4th. Probably Mchale didn't really watch any games Lin play with the Knicks.
DeleteNow Dougie knows what it feels like for Lin to make good passes to Asik and have Asik blow easy dunks or layups.
ReplyDeletewas goin to say!!
DeleteFirst sign. Harden is in...
ReplyDeletelin still out??
DeleteLin wants to give it to his best friend, Landry. Because the raptor just being called the worst team of NBA this year by landry's teammate.
ReplyDeleteFirst time out. Douglas still in...
ReplyDeletei am done man
ReplyDeleteAnnouncers saying they think Lin is a starting PG for most teams but not for teams which will make it past first round of playoffs.
ReplyDeleteWhat does that mean? I don't Really get it.
DeleteOk guys lets play a game. If McHale doesnt put Lin in the game in the 4th quarter what do you guys think will be the excuse today.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be something like, "Well, I liked Douglas defense and hmm... well, we have a back to back and I wanted to rest him."
Blaming it on Lin's early Tos which costed the team to lose confidence lol. Mcfail
Deletelol. Well it seems that for some ODD reason McHale put Lin back. I just hope Lin takes the ball, and takes the game. Because if they lose, we already know who the blame is going to.
DeleteWell... McHale would probably say TD has committed no TOs today and was generally playing non-awful, and that he was really angry with Lin for the absolutely terrible 1st Half.
DeleteI mean, I can completely understand McHale for leaving Lin out if winning the game was his only concern - Lin's recent streakiness makes putting him in somewhat high risk - but in terms of long term development/relationship putting Lin back in is the right thing to do.
As I have said, if Lin sucks, just pull him out immediately. No one would blame him, the way Lin played in the first half. But give the young man a chance to redeem himself.
That's understandable. But is not understandable when that same player is finally warming up to take him out. But I agree with you.
DeleteIs Mchale serious?
ReplyDeleteLIN IS COMING IN!!!!! WOW!!!! WHAT A MIRACLE!!!
ReplyDeleteDouglas is like, "What just happened McHale! I thought I was going to finish the games." lol
DeleteLin is back in! :)
ReplyDeleteMan if Rockets lose.... We already know what is going to happen even if Lin has nothing to do with it.
DeleteAlright, I have to disagree with you here, Lin's awful play in the first half was definitely partly to blame tonight. It's a team game though, and it certainly wasn't only his fault, nor were the other Rox players free from blame, but Lin absolutely helped to put the Rox in a hole.
DeleteLin's good 3Q helped keep the Rox in it though, and that shouldn't be ignored.
I agree with you. Lin had a terrible first half but I'm just saying about the 4th quarter.
DeleteHOLY sht! Lin is back in the game!
ReplyDeletesmci assist
DeleteI knew Lin was going to come back for last 5 minutes. Rockets still have a chance, but Lin has to play well and make good passes and make some shots.
DeleteMcHale needs to get smith out of the game, he might be good sometimes but this game he can't even catch the damn ball!! and Lin is playing the ball like William Hang again!
ReplyDeleteWilliam Hung
DeleteThey put Lin back in when they put Calderon back in.
ReplyDeleteOh BS. Calderon played 4 more minutes to begin with and ACTUALLY handled the ball. He needed the rest. Jeremy isn't even being used and yet he's playing 25-30mpg this past week. McHale yanks him whenever he warms up. Ruins his rhythm and confidence.
DeleteMcHale is either a complete moron (very possible) or he has some sort of personal agenda -- we already know he hated Morey for signing Lin and letting Dragic go).
ReplyDeleteIt's like they're consciously trying to ruin Jeremy's career, mess with his head and embarrass him publicly.
Dude, he's in the fourth now. It's up to Jeremy to perform.
DeleteTonight really, really, isn't about McHale... There are nights when you can say McHale was being inappropriate for benching Lin but tonight really isn't one of those nights...
DeleteThat said, Lin is playing some real good defence in the 4th quarter right now.
Oh wow. He got to play ONE fourth quarter once this month!! Seven minutes in!!!
DeleteTime to celebrate and blame Jeremy!!!
38/7 is what happens when Jeremy is allowed to be a point guard. Let's turn Harden into a PF. See how well he does. "It's up to James to perform..."
wiffle you know whats funny. Tonight we could argue that Lin could have been benched. And then he wasn't. But the days he shouldn't had been benched he was... Go figure.

DeleteThat's true jp2123. But in the end we wanted McHale to play Lin and we got what we wanted. We shouldn't be blaming him for that, I think. Plus Lin is playing an OK 4Q so I can't say that McHale made a mistake by leaving Lin in.
Delete@zxcvb I think you are overreacting but I was getting quite pissed off in the first quarter so I understand we all overheat sometimes. I just think that McHale sometimes gets flak for no good reason around here.
I wouldn't mind Jeremy being benched with reason -- the Laker game is a good example.
DeleteBut you MUST reward him when he plays well -- Jeremy was even benched for a crucial portion of the Spurs game!
DeleteDelfino wants to run the team all the fckn time
ReplyDeleteDelfino is the one Rox player who truly confounds me.
Deleteomg why are they shooting 3s in closing minutes of the game when they can drive in for a 2 or a foul, basketball basics!! drivings higher percentages!! NEW COACH PLEASE!!!!
ReplyDeleteDelfino's shooting pct is 35%. Truly terrible, yet he's thought of as an elite shooter by Mchale.
ReplyDeleteDelfino thinks hes PG too, i hate this guy when he wont give the ball to pg and instead dribbles up the court him self, it screws the flow of the team
Deleteagain that's coache's fault for not clear defining roles of each player of the team

ReplyDeleteLOL that Delfino foul cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteWhat... what was TD doing there
ReplyDeletedon't you know anything, according to clutcfans, he's clutch in the 4th.
DeleteOh wait! Who made the defensive mistake? Douglas...
ReplyDeleteNow, he should keep playing all 4th quarters.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Rockets, losing to Raptors. Don't deserve to go to playoff. And Lin got schooled by Calderon.
ReplyDeleteHarden and Parsons and all Rockets players didn't play that good either.
DeleteOne thought from the game. Calderon is definitely a decent PG.
DeleteCalderon is 31 and gets paid 10 Mil this year.
DeleteWow some garbage officiating but its been the case with raptors at home always...
ReplyDeleteMCFAILURE
ReplyDeletepost game analysis anyone???
ReplyDeleteJust hope Rockets and Lin don't get killed by Knicks on Monday.
ReplyDeletethey will. Knicks at home are good, plus they have momentum.
