Lin post-up! Been waiting for that one. Lin had a good post-up game in college and a lot of his moves effectively finished with a post-up last season. Good to see Lin's versatility finally coming out for the Rockets.
I'm enjoying the spread offense. Reminiscent of one of my favorite all-time offenses, the Nash/Nowitzki-era Mavs.
The Rockets offense turned a corner when they took out the Scola-era post play. They reached the next level when they belatedly reinstated Lin as the PG and moved Harden to SG.
For a while, when it was all iso-Harden (and his forced drives and turnovers) all the time, I doubted the Rockets coaches would adjust to their strengths by playing outside in and spreading the floor with their multiple ball handlers. But they made the adjustment. I'm impressed.
That would be nice, but 4 might take a while, and it's a good opportunity to get some run for the rookie.
High single digit assists actually is a normal amount for Lin because he doesn't always pass looking for the assist. Lin tries to make the right pass, which is just as often a hockey assist.
too bad Douglas is playing bad tonight. By the way i heard Rockets has a new 3rd string PG. I guess Machado will be waive or theres a big trade thats going to happen.
heaven forbid if its Gasol to the Rockets. I love Gasol, he's my Laker man even if he's very inconsistent and soft... but he better stay with Lakers. play more with Nash. I'd take Kevin Love, Paul Millsap or Al Jefferson, or bring in another center as back-up for Asik.
I remember during the Lakers game halftime show when Lin went off during Linsanity 1.0. Jon Barry was doing analysis with Magic. Barry was talking like Lin is deceptive and then Magic chimes in and tells him basically to shut it, that Lin comes off the pick not to blow by you but to scan the court and make the play. Jon couldn't say sh!t as it was the Magic-man talking. Then when Jeremy did the 360 on Fisher, Magic goes "wooo" and Barry didn't say another word. Now Barry talks sh!t about Lin everytime he does a Rockets game, last time with Mike Tirico in the booth beside him.
You're probably right...I'm just annoyed watching Rondo get a ton of "assists" for 3 dribble 20ft jumpers. But Jeremy may not get a dime on a two-dribble jumper or low-post move.
Rondo gets all kinds of bullshit assists, I agree with you. Not a big deal to me though. There's 80 other PGs who are unfairly discriminated in that sense.
I have to say that while Lin was great tonight, I'd give player of the game to Asik - 20/18 and +41, the big man was like the second coming of Yao tonight!
“If I have to sit behind him for a little while then that’s fine...I had a better college career than he did...It would be fun for a while [backing Lin up], but I wouldn’t like it...I’ll back him up if I have to.
I pray Jeremy's ok. I wanna see him step up and help James slaughter his former team. no offense, I love Kevin Durant, but between him and Jeremy I love Jeremy more...
ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo Rockets: 1st time scoring 120 or more points in 3 straight games since 1988-- a team led by Olajuwon, Thorpe, and Mike Woodson 7:26 PM - 25 Dec 12
JLin with a nice post up on Nate Robinson for the turnaround bank shot ... I'd like to see him do that on all short NBA guards: Ty Lawson, Rajon Rondo, Chris Paul, etc.
"Daaaamn...good thing I didn't have to face J-Lin tonight."
Last year, Rose got swatted twice and stripped multiple times (only had one official TO) while taking a gazillion shots to "embarrass" Jeremy. Now Jeremy's an even better passer and playmaker than ever.
Pure explosive PGs don't scare J-Lin. Smart ones with great mid-range jumpers scare him (Tony Parker or even Jarrett Jack, Jose Calderon when hot).
Bill Simmons @BillSimmons Predicted on TV before this Bulls-Rockets game that the Bulls D would easily handle Houston's gimmick offense... I have a lot of regrets. 6:38 PM - 25 Dec 12
Jeremy should average 18/8 the rest of the way. Not sure how the numbers crunch, but even with the slow start (thanks McHale), I can see him at 16/7 (with excellent defense) by season's end. And then next year will be his first no-doubt-about-it All-Star production year (20/8 or 18/10).
I saw signs saying Merry Xmas to JLin near the exit waving. Wonder if those JLin's fans are also posters on this forum. Best Xmas Day ever. First Steve Nash 's awesome performance, then JLin's sensational game, ah I'm a happy camper on. Xmas Day. Cheers everybody and Merry Xmas and happy New Year.
- Man, how good was Asik tonight? He was dominant on the boards, getting points for himself on putbacks, and his famous butterfingers were nowhere in sight as he rose up to dunk with authority on several plays. He had ZERO turnovers tonight playing against one of the best big men in the league in Joakim Noah. The one time I recall where the ball slipped his fingers was because of a slightly errant pass by Lin (it was HOU ball so no TO) and Lin immediately put his hand to his chest to indicate that it was his own fault. Otherwise, Asik's 20/18 and +41 line was a pretty good reflection of his performance. Smith is a decent player but the whole game had a much different complexion depending on whether Asik was on the court or off the court. +/- is often a misleading stat but I thought it was perfectly reflective of Asik's game.
- You know Lin's having a good game whenever you see him getting swatted hard to the ground. People, no doubt influenced by Barry's constant repetitions, have been asking why the Bulls don't force Lin left. Well, you can only force a person in a certain direction if you are fast and/or strong enough to dictate where the person is going, or if you are prepared to double him on the perimeter and/or you are able to get past the pick that is set on the opposite side. If the person is as fast as Lin and as unpredictable on the drive (the one where Lin just blew past Deng by ignoring the Harden pick) showed how difficult it is. When Lin is in a groove and is picking when to go or not to go, and where Lin is just lightning quick like he was tonight, sometimes all you can do is meet him at the rim and hope for the best.
In any case, it's not like any team can just gameplan for Lin anyway. What are you going to do when it's a Lin and Harden pick and roll? How are you going to force Lin left and Harden right in that same play?
- I thought Parsons did another good job tonight on both ends of the court. People say he is overrated but this season he has overplayed Melo, Gay and Deng. That's not bad for a second round pick. Lin can reliably get a number of assists just by throwing the ball out to Parsons in the corner.
It was a good, enjoyable game! Got a bit close to the end because of *~NBA REFEREES~* but the outcome was never really in doubt.
Slight error - he didn't ignore the Harden pick on the drive against Deng (the one I was thinking of was a drive against Hinrich... which was on the left anyway lol)
JLin is overrated. This is a fluke wiffle, and you know it!
Asik got lucky!
Wonder what SAS will say about this game today...Harden taking a backseat to Asik but still leading in points, yeah I'm convinced he is unselfish...He draws fouls like sh*t draws flies...Ok a bad similie but y'all know what I'm gettin' at :D
Great game jlin! 4 starters with 20+ points amazing. Jeremy double/double. Hate how espn ignores rockets, man they only want to talk about NY and LA... blah. Anyway merry christmas jlin fans!!

The best quality in Lin is not even his personal stats, his driving ability, his quickness or whatever. It's his ability to make those around him better. No offense to players like Asik and Parsons, but I highly doubt that they would ever score 20 points in a nba game, and in a so easy way, if with any other active PG other than Lin, Nash or Chris Paul.

Greg Smith didn't have it tonight because he blew one potential assist from JLin and didn't block his man on defense resulting in an easy putback.
Lin definitely looked for Parsons more than Harden did. At the last play before halftime, Harden forced an unbalanced 3PT shot attempt when Parsons was clearly open on the right wing.
I love seeing Jeremy Lin smile. It's like something was pushing down on his chest and now he's able to get some air
ReplyDeleteLin post-up! Been waiting for that one. Lin had a good post-up game in college and a lot of his moves effectively finished with a post-up last season. Good to see Lin's versatility finally coming out for the Rockets.
ReplyDeleteDang he made Nate look bad lol.
DeleteYes, great to see the first one this season! Granted it's against 5'9" Nate Robinson but payback is sweet :)
DeleteI was surprised that none of the bigs bothered to double Lin in the post. Surely they can see what a huge mismatch that was?
DeleteLin can pass if doubled. That would be a neat Kidd-esque wrinkle to add to the Rockets offense.
DeleteIs it just me or does it seem like Morris is a bit fumbly today? Nearly dropped a couple of passes from Lin and Harden today.
ReplyDeleteJeremy just posted up nate Robinson. Who's yo daddy??
ReplyDeleteSmart play by lin man ! Robinson is shortest guy in the NBA lol
DeleteLOL! Jeremy clowned Robinson in the post up, he looked like Yao Ming :D
DeleteLin did better in the post against Nate Robinson than Yao Ming did.
DeleteGo on youtube and watch that amazing play where Nate Robinson at 5'9" blocks the 7'3" Yao Ming!
The bulls are too weak without rose !
ReplyDeleteknicks lost twice to the bulls this season. I guess Rockets just have their numbers.
Deletedamn 31 points difference. Lin and Rockets plowing the NBA right now
ReplyDeleteJeremy is giving he's fans a great Christmas present
ReplyDeleteWHAT THE HELL THAT IS FLAGRANT ONE DAMMIT
ReplyDeleteLin only had 4/3/4 against the Bulls on Nov 21 against the same match-ups. Lin could have played just as well that night if he was used properly.
ReplyDeleteDoubt Lin is coming back in for this one unless there's a major screw up out there.
ReplyDeleteyea...for once i actually hope he doesn't come in :)
DeleteHope he doesn't come back. Yeah I'm selfish. He's played a great game, let me rest his body and especially his knees for the next games.
DeleteYeah after that "flagrant" on Lin I was thinking that Lin was probably gonna sit down soon, if only to avoid those smashes.
Deleteoh well at least +36
DeleteFri and Sat, back to back game against Spurs and OKC. He will need it.
Deletemy guess is he will play for 4-5 min in the 4th quarter to get 4 more assists for his double-double and guarantee the win.

ReplyDeletegreat game!!

Lin back in for the 4Q while Harden rests.
ReplyDeleteDamn 4th fouls
ReplyDeleteThat is... a lot of foul calls against HOU
ReplyDeleteWow - lead gone down to 17 with 9 minutes on the clock.
ReplyDeleteThey're calling all kinds of wacky fouls on the Rockets. Refs are trying to even the game and make the fans happy.
ReplyDeletecuz its a Christmas special and they want to keep the show interesting
DeletePossible to lose this game ? Lol !
ReplyDeleteinfairness to the Chicago fans. they are are not losing hope.
ReplyDeleteNow the Ref is scoring for the bull. Lol
ReplyDeleteNow the Ref is scoring for the bull. Lol
ReplyDeletewow.... did Stern call the refs during 3rd Q to call Rockets fouls to level the play?
ReplyDeletebring back the starters McHale..
I know some of you had mention it but that jersey is really ugly!!!! Who design that and actually thought that it looks good? Looks like prisoner.
ReplyDeleteJeremy is 7-11 not 7-12...this official scorer, I'll tell ya.
ReplyDeletetoo bad Douglas is playing bad tonight. By the way i heard Rockets has a new 3rd string PG. I guess Machado will be waive or theres a big trade thats going to happen.
ReplyDeleteDo u worry it gonna ruin the good chemistry they are having right now? I feel they start to play like a team..a good team.

ReplyDelete20 and 8 for our man!
ReplyDeleteAfter Harden is missed that shot too. Good thing Lin was able to add some points cuz this q is looking u-g-l-y
DeleteLinsane
ReplyDelete2 more assists for a double -double! Let's go JLin!
ReplyDeleteRobinson said " let's go mother fuzker " and then lin passed him and score !
ReplyDeleteLOL, I saw that too.
DeleteJeremy was like, "Okay, if that's what you want, man..."
"Here, Merry Christmas"
DeleteShould have posted him the f*ck up again lol
DeleteLol! Hell yeah! But gotta give him some credits. He is 5'9" and he found a way to survive in NBA.
DeleteThat was hilarious. How'd that taste as Lin drops a load in Mr. Robinson's neighbourhood. Even better is if Lin had dunked it.
DeleteGuys, relax, this was just a ploy to get Jeremy's stats up, lol.
ReplyDelete30pt lead and he sits at 18/6. Now he gets 20+ points and 8+ assists
Hahaha...
Jlin blew by Nate.
ReplyDeleteomg the mcrib commerical has been sown at least 9 times i want
ReplyDeleteLol yeah wants sum too...Mmm I know its fake but still McRib :D
DeleteConan doesnt think so. On one of his shows he said something about McRibs in a bucket. He doesnt know its a sandwich.
DeleteJon "you-make-Lin-go-left" Barry, the announcer, is ready to make an excuse why Lin can score a lot against the Bulls.
ReplyDeleteDid he even praise Lin even once tonight?
Does he think that you can make Harden go right and Lin go left just because you will it? If it were that easy...
DeleteI remember during the Lakers game halftime show when Lin went off during Linsanity 1.0. Jon Barry was doing analysis with Magic. Barry was talking like Lin is deceptive and then Magic chimes in and tells him basically to shut it, that Lin comes off the pick not to blow by you but to scan the court and make the play. Now Barry talks sh!t about Lin everytime he does a Rockets game, last time with Mike Tirico in the booth beside him.
DeleteI was like wishing the rocket will take it easy on the bull earlier. Now I say lets blow them out.
ReplyDeleteThe scorer fixed J-Lin's FG rate.
ReplyDeleteThat's the SECOND time they've had to "correct" a negative J-Lin stat.
They gave him the TO on a low Parsons pass, too...
No need to fixate on this, it happens to all players...
DeleteHarden with awesome block followed by Asik block.
DeleteYou're probably right...I'm just annoyed watching Rondo get a ton of "assists" for 3 dribble 20ft jumpers. But Jeremy may not get a dime on a two-dribble jumper or low-post move.
DeleteAnd I'm not the only one who says that either.
DeleteI remember some announcers saying the same thing about Rondo the other day. "Does he get an assist on that? He would if he were Rondo...[laughter]."
Rondo gets all kinds of bullshit assists, I agree with you. Not a big deal to me though. There's 80 other PGs who are unfairly discriminated in that sense.
Deleteyay! 1 more assist... Let's go JLin!
ReplyDeletedouble double!
ReplyDeleteGod, Lin's full court passes are like cheat mode

Deletewaaaah! a double-double! Let's go JLin!
ReplyDelete20-11! Told you guys!
ReplyDeleteReduced lead just to ploy to run up J-Lin's stats!
hahah
Delete:) Good to know that HOU wants Lin to go strongly to the All-Star games with maybe 8-10 double-double games?
DeleteTotal fluke!

ReplyDeleteB: "I don't think there's anything deceptive about it!"

Deleteugh... I wanna see Machado eat his words. if there is a good backup for Jeremy, it's not him
DeleteMachado and all his false bravado. Garbage time is when you show you belong. But all he has shown is he is not ready even as Lin's back-up's back-up.
DeleteWhy is Jeremy Lin's right forearm getting wrapped up?
ReplyDeleteuh oh..yea he had a big ice pack on the right elbow
DeleteProbably from that huge fall underneath the basket. Hopefully that will take away his jumper and force him to take the ball to the basketball more!
DeleteHans....what????
