Good Luck Jeremy!
Jeremy with two made jumpers already! Could this be a breakthrough game?
One was a three counted as a two...they may not review it though. Refs are seriously killing Lin this season...
Yup. Replay showed it was clearly a 3 no doubt about it....but refs decided it wasn't worth reviewing. Welcome to the NBA!
Someone needs to contact the Houston bench or officials to have them review it at halftime. Anybody at the game?
Ha! It was a 3!
WOw it was a 3 man they need to review it.
What kind of shot was JEremy's first shot of the game? I missed it.
Fancy reverse layup with a defender on him.
Ok so dumb question: is Houston a really small market? Lots of empty seats...Just sayin'...
The greater Houston area is 5th in the nation. So the market isn't that small....But it's crappy weather I'm assuming. Crappy opponent. Thanksgiving break just passed. Lots of colleges and other teams and sports to follow too. *shrug*
crappy fanbaseEven the fans themselves admit their lack of support.
Rocket's are playing so unselfish. Excellent ball movement. I like Jeremy's shot selection. Some may say he should shoot more readily, but his shot selection is very, very careful and that has its own benefits. It's a balancing act.
Team is also motivated and playing for coach McHale
Jeremy with another 3! This time the refs didn't cheat him out of it, lol.
Team seems more methodical, composed...Like others have said unselfish, lots of team ball. JLin handling the ball more, looks more confident. He is really controlling the tempo...Still had some open lanes he could have taken but he passed off to cook or Harden instead. But the team as a whole is playing VERY well.
Jeremy Lin!!! He's feeling it.
I've seen a guy tip it into his own basket before, but not actually LAY IT UP into his own hoop. Definitely Sportscenter material.
Lowry is having a bad day...Game is still young tho, lol Lin forced another travel from him, awesome.
did landry and lin do the secret handshake?
Isn't Landry out cause of surgery to his arm?
hes listed as inactive. could be on the bench
Not @ Toyota Center.had sutures removed yesterday.
Harden is dishing tonight, 9 assists at the half!
Only 2 TOs at half for all of Rockets...Wow, now just come back and control 2nd half!!!
I saw Jlin's parents in the crowd. He's confident again. Jumper looking great.
Hmmm - he says he plays better when his mom is watching. Man - shes gotta come with him whereever he plays!
@stu, you at the game? Jealous!
@stuif youre there - please go throw some hotdog or popcorn at the refs. We will refund you for it!
Haha..although he gots refund for the popcorn or hotdogs but he will got caught!
My halftime thoughts:- Defence: Lin is FOCUSED today. Sampson's substitution timings clearly meant that he wanted Lin and Lowry to be on the court at the same time, and Lin's goal today is to shut Lowry down. That meant not helping on the post much, but we saw how effective Lin can be when he's solely focused on keeping the other point guard out of the paint. The rotation and help defence from the forwards were pretty good when Lin did get screened.- Shooting: Lin has been hitting the open shots as he should. That is sweet. - Playmaking: Lin has not really been the primary ballhandler today but when he is initiating the defence, he has been very efficient. That sweet dime to Asik for the reverse layup was cool.- What I'd like to see more: Lin's not attacking the basket much today. He looked like he was going to with two strong plays in the first quarter, but decided to back off. My feeling is that Lin's first priority today is to shut down Lowry and is saving his efforts for that. We shall see in the second half.
@wifflewiffle, nice analysis!
great shooting night for Lin! He has another stolen that's not showing on box score! s/b 3 stl by right now.someone needs to look into this. i know for fact Lin had 2 stolen and remained there for quite sometime - so when Lin stole another one i knew it s/h/be 3 stolen! I wonder how often the score keepers make mistakes!!!
OH LOOK JEREMY LIN IS DOING HIS THING AND PUTTING LOWRY TO SHAME!
Lets go linsanity!!
Wasn't that Harden dunk assisted by Lin? Box score lists that Asik threw it. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/playbyplay?gameId=400277926
We need Patterson to step up now...
Harden makes those 3s look so easy...So smooth...
Jeremy looks a little cold now that Sampson and Harden decided to freeze him out. Can't let him get too much confidence I guess. Ugh...this damn team.
Wow 26pt lead, they are playing for McHale this game, so great to watch.
again stupid score keeping. i saw Lin pass to Harden and he knocked down for 3 (Lin had 8 assists for some time so i expected his assists to show 9 points - and i refreshed the boxscore page to make sure - but NO! what the heck!!!!
JLin's fans have to email to NBA to complain about all the mishandling of JLin's stats!!!
I'm going to write to the league, but I want to watch the game again from the 3rd period on (because what I noticed happened in the 2nd half and I don't want to spend more time than that).... and then check the boxscore as well as play by play and make notes - sigh it'll take too much time, but I want the league to know that some scorekeepers seem to be shady.
Now on, I'll either experiment with talking to an audio tape or make notes on papers and compare it to boxscores/play-by-play. I think writing down is actually much easier, since the audio tape must be transcribed on paper afterwards.
Currently the Rockets starting backcourt has 19 assists combined, while the Raptors' has... 5. Says it all really. Once the unsustainable Raptors' shooting dropped, the lead blew up.
Lin should have his double double by now but refs and score keeping messed up. With this lead its unlikely he will come back into the game :(
Lin got robbed of 2 assists. one isn't recorded; the other one (where is assisted Parsons' 3 is noted in play by play, but not on the boxscore!!!I don't normally do this, but the reason why i noticed these today is that i checked the boxscore first before watching the game (because i was 20 minutes late in watching the game).... so i decided to check the boxscore whenever Lin did something to change his stat.
Yep Im pretty sure he didnt get the assist for Parsons 3
the league needs to crack down in this mis- score keeping. I'm sure one of the stolen was given to Harden, For a long time, Harden had zero stolen and Lin had 2... and now they both have 2 stolen.the other day, someone noticed that Lin's stolen was given to Harden (one is whitish, the other is black!!!) and wrote to the league - they reviewed it and changed. I guess in order for them to make the change, we need to give them the EXACT minute the erroneous scorekeeping occurred. but who has the time? it's the scorekeepers job! the fans want to concentrate on watching the game!
I agree, the scorekeeping is MESSED UP, for a few games I've noticed. It's worse because it's a home game and the Rockets' home scorekeeper is screwing Lin out of his production. I don't know if some of you notice it, but I do notice it because I think Asian pitchers get screwed out of MLB strike zones as well when you watch the computer strike zone vs the white/black umpire's calls.
Yep - this is not the first time I noticed that. It happened during other games as well.
Seriously, something is really off tonight. I can understand one or two slips. But there have been seriously 4-5 tonight.
Lin: 16 points, 10 assists, 3 stolen, 4 rebound. But Lin should have at least 12 assist and 4 stolen. I waited a while to see if they made corrections, but NO. Apparently what's recorded or not recorded stays permanently - unless someone gives the league office specific details and specific timing of the error(s). I say *at least* because I didn't check all the time... I mean who has the time? May I should have a mini recorder and speak to it and check the boxscore after the game is over. I have to buy one and try it.It's so frustrating. Until the other day (when someone mentioned about Lin's stolen given to Harden), I've always assumed there cannot be errors in scorekeeping. Today is the first time I've ever checked (a part of the time) and I've noticed that Lin got robbed of at least 2 assists and 1 stolen. It shouldn't happen! I'm sure one of Lin's stolen (in the 3rd period, but I waited too long to make note of the exact time - having assumed it was given to Lin) was either not recorded at all or went to Harden, because for a long time Lin had 2 stolen and Harden had 0 stolen, but all of sudden both showed them showed as 2 stolen at one point.Officiating in the NBA is bad enough. Now I found out that the NBA's scorekeeping is full of errors!!!! It's NOT ACCEPTABLE.
I'm wondering if the errors are done on purpose. You all (at least a fewfolks), lets experiment and get tape recorders to keep the scorekeepers up and up. Wouldn't it be ironic if we did that it wouldn't happen again, haha - I doubt it though, because Lin's skin color isn't going to change.
LOL, nobody gets more assists blown than Lin. Jeremy is lucky if his forwards convert even 1/3 of their layups. 1/3 of the time they blow it completely. 1/3 of the time they get bailed out by whistles.
Yeah he just made such a nice pass to Asik... Asik of course missed :)
Cant blame Harden for his isos - he just asked Lin for the ball, ran over to the hoop and bamm. Hes so good at it. As long as hes not doing it all the time - Im good.
DOUBLE DOUBLE! Finally!
Jeremy split a double team and finished with a little floater-layup.Nice! Haven't seen him do that in a while. He looks like he's finally coming back physically and mentally. I just hope Sampson realizes this too.
Some observations:- I know Harden has assists but seriously Harden is a ball hog. When they are both on the floor Harden hangs out near the in-bounds line basically DEMANDING the ball instead of letting Lin take it up and run the plays. Harden should play PG when Lin sits, but he insists on playing PG over 80% of the time even when they are both on the floor. It's amazing Lin gets that many assists basically not handling the ball and also being relegated to the 3-pt corner so much.- Jeremy Lin should make being forced as SG work for him. Every time he touches it he should be looking to SCORE since they are playing him like a SG anyway. He shouldn't try to keep creating for teammates when they aren't even letting him play PG that much. Once Harden realizes that the SG spot is the scoring/shooting spot with Lin attacking every time he touches it (and NOT passing it unless it's a clear assist opportunity), maybe Harden will let Lin play PG more.
I'm just going to flat out disagree: Harden isn't a ball hog. He's also one of the most dominant players in the NBA without question.
This ballhog thing has got to stop. It's clear that Harden and Lin are supposed to be sharing PG duties. And quite often when Lin brings it up past the half way line, he passes it off to Harden and goes to the corner. And often times when Harden brings it up, he then passes it to Lin at the 3 point line and starts moving. I'm not going to complain about how the backcourt is set up when it got both Lin and Harden double-doubles!
Harden absolutely is a ball hog. But he is different from Kobe. Kobe plays off ball, when he gets it he's looking to score. But Harden dominates the ball so much including as PG. If Harden wants to dominate the ball so much as point guard, he needs to average over 7 assists as season. Part of the reason Harden's FG% is down is bc he's playing too much PG, he would be a more efficient player if he played mostly SG and then just did PG when he plays with the 2nd unit while Lin is sitting.
Ok, that is basically nonsense. -___-
Especially since Kobe brings the ball up a lot of the time as well.
I have watched every single game on league pass. It isn't a 50/50 split, when Harden is on the floor with Lin he basically plays PG like 80% of the time with Lin on the floor. Harden regularly stands near the in-bounds line and either gets the ball outright or gets Lin to give it to him before they cross mid-court.Harden averages only 4.9 assists a game, which looks good as a SG but when you consider he basically plays PG with tons of iso from PG every game, it's actually pretty low. He should be averaging over 7 assists a game instead of 4.9 with the amount that he plays de facto PG every single game. One thing I'm going to raise early is I don't think Harden is that great playing off the ball. He isn't like a traditional SG who is good at running through screens, catching and shooting, and playing off ball. He basically just stands there as a SG, he isn't into it unless he dominates the ball as PG.
I'm sorry but there are five Rocket players scoring in the double figures. Three Rocket players with double-doubles! The ball was moving fast and crisply. It doesn't matter who carries the ball up past the half point line when the ball is going to be moving as well as it was today.(I have also watched every game with the Rockets this season.)
The TOs are piling up for the Rockets this quarter. It looks like the starters are all exhausted, Parsons in particular. The problem of not having a reliable bench...
Lin getting his groves back...awesome
Jeremy showing clutch again, extending the lead...
A slam no less :D
woohoo!!!! go LIN
FIRST DUNK OF THE SEASON FOR JEREMY.He's baaaaaack! At least I hope so.
false... first dunk was at the first game of the season vs pistons.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1F0p0AYJ9E
I think this is Jeremy's best game of the season. An efficient double-double in which he scored with a variety of shots from all ranges.
Don't forget the official scorer robbed him of a 3, two assists and a steal!
If anyone has league pass or was keeping tabs, you can email the NBA and other sources about the ERRORS, and hopefully they will fix it like another poster said he got fixed before.Jeremy Lin without his hometown Rockets scorekeeper robbing him just played a 17 point, 12 assist, 4 steal game.
3 Rockets with double doubles...Parsons 3 more rebs and quadruple double double :D
And the game is over :)
Lin with 38 minutes today...Wow they're turning on the playtime for Lin, good to see it.
Been reading alot on clutchfans gamethread tonight. People there are in love with Lin. Many say he owned Lowry. Some critical ones at least admit he outplayed Lowry. They like his defense and are happy with his shooting and scoring. They are on fire because of Lins steal and dunk! So far so good. Hes shutting up his haters :)
BTW: I think Lin is still not 100% :) He is even better than we have seen today.
Lowry outrebounded his whole team. That is just shameful play from the Raptors forwards.
i remember a raptor fan hating on bargnani because all he does is score and forget that there are other aspects of the game like defense and rebounding.
Even Patterson outrebounded Bargnani today lol
The impressive thing is that Jeremy hardly touched the ball for ten minutes in the 2nd half (mid-3rd to mid-4th...when Raptors made a run "coincidentally"). He racked up 16p/10r/4r/3s without breaking a sweat. That dunk was pretty emphatic, too. No "hard layup." You could hear him THROW it down.
What really impressed me was Lin both on offence AND on defence. Very efficient play.
I wonder what all the anti-Lin people on ClutchFans will be saying about this performance in which JLIn outplayed their darling Kyle Lowery.
Let me quote myself:"Been reading alot on clutchfans gamethread tonight. People there are in love with Lin. Many say he owned Lowry. Some critical ones at least admit he outplayed Lowry. They like his defense and are happy with his shooting and scoring. They are on fire because of Lins steal and dunk! So far so good. Hes shutting up his haters :)"Like I always say - there are some haters on clutchfans but he also has lots of fans there. There was just on idiot tonight who made dumb remarks about his TO.
High efficiency game 4 lin + a dunk. He is back.
Really efficient game from Jeremy. He's finally driving to the basket like he use to during a few plays in the 4th. His balance with knowing when to shoot and when to pass is lolling good
Somebody's got his swag back. What a difference 3 days of rest makes, with a dunk as the exclamation point.Speaking of dunks, I've never seen Ross play before, are pogo sticks legal during the game?Man, the Raptors have no D. At all. The +/- for the Rox starters are ridiculous.Favorite moment of the game: 2:01 left in the 3rd, after Parsons passes off to Harden he backs down to the right corner... right into Lin. Lin literally pushes him away with one hand. Get out of MY corner, fool! Tough stretch ahead of us. I predict 2-4, would be ecstatic with 3-3 and maintiain 0.500. And as long as we can keep our concentration up, the turbo charged Rox should have a field day against Washington. Welcome back, Mr. Lin.
Wow. That dunk was sweet. 2nd best dunk of his life. Probably the most powerful one. I can't wait to see a replay.Everything was working tonight. Amazing stuff. I'm excited to see our guy dominate.
which is the first?!he had done many times, in the past, during college, etc.he even did that with Yao Ming back in 2010.so nothing new, but it aint his specialty anyways.
You can email on NBA.com regarding those scoring errors, I've done them before not for Lin but Kevin Love. It happens, not going question whether it's racist or not, things happen so quickly mistakes happen. Although it is weird seeing Lin getting robbed so frequently. Anyways just email them and give the EXACT score and time, or else they won't do it.
We should do this for a few games to keep the NBA on their toes and honest. Especially to let the Rockets home scorekeeper, who oddly is screwing his own hometown player out of stats, just so he knows fans are watching it.
I wouldn't necessarily say its racist, more because we as Lin fans are focused on what he does.I must say though that there is some bias based on reputation. I was watching some Rondo highlights the other day and there were a bunch of assists that were really borderline at best.
http://www.nba.com/email_us/contact_us.htmlScore keeping error--November 27, 2012, Houston Rockets vs. Toronto Raptors. X Quarter, X:XX remaining, Jeremy Lin knocks the ball away from X, and the Steal was given to X instead of Jeremy Lin.[@Reebok's template]
Yes.guys with good basketball observation n knowledge please help Jeremy claim it!:)
Another thing, I doubt they will change the assists unless it is given to the WRONG player. I phoned NBA about it before, they said it's the score judge's decision. Regarding steals I'm pretty sure it's easy to correct those.
I know this may be premature, but if they can keep this kind of performance up and tighten up 4Q, they could do 4-2 in the next 6 games.I'd be happy if they do 3-3 and maintain .5, but for some reason I think they'll do 4-2...
Lin has a bad game and 200+ posts on here. Lin has awesome game... only 92 posts...LOL Happy for Lin. This game put a smile on my face.
Trust me.. I jumped out of my bed when Jlin did that dunk. To me it's not just a dunk...but it was more of a break through out of that slump and haters.(as you can see it was powerful)
Yeah, where are all the haters???I encourage them to COME OUT - and show their APPRECIATION for Lin's great performance!!
Back in their sleeper cells no doubt.
Same on clutchfans. Someone there noted that there were only about 60 pages - cause Lins playing well. Otherwise there would be hundreds of pages.
Lin sucks...j/kLooks like the old Lin is back and it's great to see. :)
Happy for the kid. Hope it continues. Can't wait for the highlights.
Houston Rockets @HoustonRocketsSampson on @JLin7: "By far his best game of the season tonight. He got his swagger back against New York."7:27 PM - 27 Nov 12
Great game from JLin- looks like the player he was from Linsanity time might be back. I'm guessing it has had everything to do with his health.
the shorten season had taken its toll on so many players especially the starters. Jeremy is no exception.
it has everything to do with his health(knee)
He's not fully 100% accdg to his trainer.
The Rockets are developing a very potent offense. More drive and kick, less post-up. Still youthfully inconsistent, but they're delivering statement games now.Main takeway: Lin handled the ball with point touches in the 4Q as the Raptors were making their run. Not quite the volume we'd like yet, nor was Lin in control of the ball down the stretch of a close game, but it was still a big step in the right direction. The pattern has been Lin starting games with the ball, playing his way and being productive, but then the ball and the point role removed from him as the game moves on. For a while there, it looked like that pattern would repeat, but this time, the Rockets came back to Lin with point touches late. It made me feel better about the Rockets coaching of Lin. This was the closest game this season to a Woodson-level use of Lin.Touches with Parsons and Lin seemed about even.Lin outplayed the Raptors PGs.Lin made jumpers and gave us a strong dunk. Add rebounding, D, transition, playmaking, just a good all-around game - the kind of game we've been waiting for. I'm tempted, but I'll hold back on calling it a 'break-out' game, just because I want to reserve that label for a game in which Lin plays well and is featured more from start to finish.
I definitely wouldn't call Mike Woodson's usage of Lin a good thing. Eric hasn't yet figured out that Mike Woodson has played Lin for 0 minutes this season.
ADD: Winning the Lowry match-up is a good tune-up for the Thunder and Westbrook tomorrow.
[I definitely wouldn't call Mike Woodson's usage of Lin a good thing. Eric hasn't yet figured out that Mike Woodson has played Lin for 0 minutes this season.]I agree I'm tired of every post by "Eric" to have to allude somehow to Woodson or the Knicks.Eric - did you read the article the other day where Woodson said Lin wasn't even a starting guard? Even after the season, until he suddenly did a 180 to the press, Woodson was waffling on whether Lin was his starting PG or not. Then, in the off-season the Knicks made a clear direction AWAY from Lin by chasing Nash, Felton, Kidd, Prioni, basically every PG besides Lin (you don't think Woodson had any input?). Lin had zero offers from the Knicks. The Knicks brought in tons of old guys which was clearly Woodson's influence/input, so he had input in the off-season.Another thing - I've heard you reference that Philly game a few times. I was AT that Philly game and let me tell you, Woodson never trusted Lin that game or any other game for that matter. Lin was attacking the hole that 4th quarter but the Knicks were not calling plays for him. I firmly believe that Lin was basically dis-obeying orders every time he took matters in his own hands under Woodson. Woodson played Lin something like 26 minutes most of the games that Lin played under him. The moment Baron Davis was remotely healthy Woodson started playing a garbage Davis over Lin in many key moments of games. Even the corpse of MIke Bibby started getting more playing time under Woodson, at the expense of Lin.So, no need to romanticize the Knicks or Woodson when there is sufficient evidence that both the front office and the coach didn't believe in the kid.
Anon: "I firmly believe that Lin was basically dis-obeying orders every time he took matters in his own hands under Woodson." Lin did have both the authority and control of the ball as the Knicks PG he needed in order to call his own number. As you point out, Lin certainly made use of that authority and control.
@eric, good to see you buddy, you've been missed. I always enjoy reading your analysis/rationale. Really proud of Lin tonight, he took advantage of what was given to him.
k.smith,Thanks. I won't touch base here every night, but if I have something to say, I'll try to stop in and say it.It's vindictive and unfair to Felton who I like, but I'm hoping for more games like this one from Lin juxtaposed closely with more games from Felton like he had vs the Nets to highlight the Knicks' mistake in replacing Lin. While the Knicks will be okay with Felton for the regular season, he's simply not what they'll need when team defenses overtake team offenses in the play-offs and multiple creative scorer/playmakers become necessary.
Eric's favorite coach Woodson KICKED LIN OFF the Knicks. Woodson became head coach midseason with no training camp. Therefore the Knicks still ran a lot of D'Antoni plays starring Lin. Now that Woodson has had a full training camp, he has used Lin exactly the way he's wanted to this season - 0 minutes!!!Eric has no excuse or answer for Woodson's hate of Lin. We are seeing Woodson's true attitute toward Lin in the number of minutes Woodson has played Lin this year after Woodson kicked Lin off the team. Unfortunately for Eric, his FANTASY that Woodson was Lin's greatest coach of all time has resulted in Woodson succeeding in booting the highly performing Lin off the Knicks.
Dammit. I got suckered by Eric's trolling again. He's trying to HIJACK Lin's victory by saying that Mike Woodson would've coached Lin better. It's a bunch of Knick anti-Lin haterade, but I won't get suckered into it again. The Knicks SUCCK!!!!
"Woodson became head coach midseason with no training camp. Therefore the Knicks still ran a lot of D'Antoni plays starring Lin."
"Woodson KICKED LIN OFF the Knicks"- Totally wrong. It was Dolan's choice to not match the POISON PILL contract. If he matched, then Woodson would not be able to do something about it. "Woodson's hate of Lin"- Evidence? Solid Evidence? KHuang you just proved that you are biased against the KNICKS. You just admitted that you HATE the KNICKS.
Can anyone here please just PROVE this "supposed" Hate of Woodson against Lin? Any SOLID EVIDENCE that would undeniably show this hate that everyone seems to speculate on?
JLin reverse lay-up vs Raptors
17 pts 12 assist and 4 steals. Someone email the NBA ..THIS BULL****!!!! They robbing Jeremy
They won; that is enough
I don't know how they could miss the assists either. They missed the fast-break lob to Harden and the great drive and kick to Parsons. Steals I can see -- sometimes, it's hard to tell who caused it. But the assists were quite clear. It was the ref's fault on the obvious 3 scored a 2. A scorer can't change that since the refs never reviewed it.
No. It's not enough! You deserve what you should deserve. Isn't it? They gotta know their mistakes so they won't make it again!
You can complain and whine all you want but the stats aren't going to be changed. This is a reply to lydia lien.
you should contact the nba. make sure your'e very, very specific with your information. Know the Time, score, and who was involved in each play.
Both the lob to Harden for the dunk and the drive and dish to Parsons were counted, they were assists #7 and #9 on the play-by-play on NBA.com
WHAT woke him up was being benched last part of the game
JLin no-look pass to Morris
Nice to see Jeremy progressing every game. Stats don't matter. Most important is to see him back to form again. I really hope the coaching staff can start to put the ball in Lin's hands more and more when Lin is fully back to form although Harden and the other starters are doing pretty well too. I would like to see Lin at least being established as the 2nd scoring option behind Harden as I think when on form Lin is way more skillful and reliable than the likes of Parsons and Patterson.
I've been predicting that Jeremy Lin might have a breakout game at any point. Here it is. Kyle Lowry has been playing like an MVP, but tonight Lin outplayed him thoroughly. So much for the assertions that Lowry is better, at least for this game. I've been saying that when Lin is aggressive and produces, the team will go to him. That's what happened today. This is the kind of game we all envisioned Lin having. He plays like this, he's an All Star all the way.
I think there is one important point about Lowry that you are right to emphasise - Lowry is a genuinely good basketball player. He didn't start chucking or panicking (even though he looked kind of pissed at points) and hustled on the boards when he wasn't producing offensively. But definitely an off night for Lowry when he clearly was looking to impress, and the main reason for that was Lin's lockdown defence.Lin can physically dominate 90% of the PGs in the league and I was glad he decided to show off his abilities tonight. I don't know if you noticed but there were a few minutes tonight when it was obvious that Lin's instinct was kicking in and he was thinking of helping on the post but instead he chose to chase Lowry/Calderon around. I liked that a lot. As a result, Lowry hardly had decent looks all night.I have to say I don't know if Lin is going to keep producing All-Star numbers this season because, well, it's the Raptors after all, but I think that if Lin keeps hitting that jumper, he WILL be getting open lanes to the basket.
I would like to see him putting at least 5 consecutive games of this type together and at least scoring over 20 before proclaiming the "breakout".
Too early to say if he's an all Star. The Raptors' frontcourt is weak defensively, allowing Harden and Lin to penetrate at will.
I don't see why Lin can't keep producing All Star numbers. Since the beginning of the season, Lin has been stellar in all areas other than scoring. Now that he's starting to score, he's really starting to DOMINATE. Lin is a low usage high efficiency player with the Rockets. Historically, that's actually the Lin we all know. Lin's so talented and so skilled that he can get his shot off whenever he wants, and now that he's hitting Lin will become very hard to stop. As long as Lin keeps playing intelligently and carefully, All Star excellence will be here to stay for him!
Let's not jinx Lin against Westbrook though! lol
I don't see this round of Linning coming to a sudden halt. Lin looks good on his jump shot form, plus he's doing everything else well. Why would he suddenly not produce?I've written repeatedly that NBA players typically experience several little breakouts before the big breakout happens. Lin's been doing that, and that's why I predicted before the game that Lin could have his breakout game anytime. And he did! While there are a few high level things I'd like to see Jeremy Lin learn (a post up dribble being one of them), I'm comfortable in saying that Lin's finally ARRIVED.
Speaking of jinxing Lin, it's probably a good thing I'm not his coach. Because I regard Lin to be a super defensive stopper in an era where he is the ONLY defensive stopper on the perimeter, I'd likely assign him to guard not just Russell Westbrook but Kevin Durant and Kevin Martin. When Lin first entered the NBA, I honestly thought he was going to be used as Golden State's defensive stopper to erase the defensive nonexistence of Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis. But Keith Smart was Lin's "coach" and misused Lin so badly that Smart got fired for it ( Lin and the "Coach Killa" thing!)
One thing about Lowry. He's also just getting back from injury and might not be 100% fit. Lowry is a good player and he's not as bad as his stats of this game suggested. I like what I saw from Lin and always believe he's better than Lowry eventually but this game has little bearing/meaning on the question "who is better".
WAAAAAA!!!!Hey Cara, I'm fake pouting. After hearing so many people moan and groan that Lowry was a better choice than Lin, I can pout for one day even if you're absolutely right as usual!Lowry is a terrific player. He was my early season MVP. That still counts for something in Lin's case for this game and this game only!!!WAAAAAAAH!..pout...booger...
Not to make excuses for Lowry or diminish Lin BTW. But Lowry clearly isn't in the same early season form after injury. Although the fact that Lowry's playing style seems to be injury prone is a genuine concern. That's also why I think if Lin changes his style to take less pounding in the paint is wise for long term.
That's exactly why no one should be worried about Lin either.Lowry was playing amazingly well to start the season...then he got injured and he stinks right now (esp. his poor shooting).Same thing Jeremy is dealing with. Any leg injury makes you feel rusty and "off" even after you're medically cleared to play. Jeremy has had two very good games in a row. He just has to keep building on that momentum and keep shooting with confidence.
John Hollinger @johnhollinger@wolstatsun Lowry stopped guarding last year. Big reason he clashed with McHale.7:45 PM - 27 Nov 12Ryan Wolstat @WolstatSun@johnhollinger Looks like a different player. Ankle and being a bit out of shape isn't helping him either. Still solid mostly on offence7:49 PM - 27 Nov 12
Eff that, with the amount of unfair vitriol thrown at Lin for everything. I have no sympathy for Lowry and wahtever excuse used to explain him getting worked.
@#1 yep, I agree.
Remember JLin is not FULLY recovered himself.
@ # 1 j No one is asking for your sympathy.
It's nice to see him getting back to his old form again. I hope he keeps it up.
JLin seems to have a pep in his step today. The three days off and working on his explosiveness is definitely noticeable. I'm liking it. Right now, JLin just needs to stay consistent.

JLin [Rox vs Raptors] - 11/27/12 [footwearfoot]
Thanks! I like how Lin is flying at the opponent to contest the shot at 0:24. Some people say thats useless but that kind of move can really make opponents brick their shots.
It's dem "Lintangibles" again. To me, "intangibles" are simply quality plays that superficial basketball observers fail to see!
Yeah - thats something that even Harden can learn from Lin. I noticed that Harden is sometimes a bit lazy when it comes to contesting shots...
One small complaint. For the amount of driving Lin's done, he sure didn't shoot many FTs this season!
Stupid racist NBA refs won't call ANY fouls on Lin, no matter how flagrant the contact. Lin is the most poorly officiated player I've seen in all my decades of watching the NBA. Even 10 day D League callups get better treatment from NBA refs than Lin does.
JLin postgame 11/27/12[CF]
Happy for Jeremy n the rockets for another win! Hope for the best of next game too yet still support for the worst!
See you guys are cheering, I tuned in. Nice game! Wonder why does Jeremy wear glasses. Is he near-sighted? Does he wear contact lenses for games?
Fashion statement?Houston Rockets @HoustonRocketsApparently tonight is black specs night, as shown by the twinsies @JLin7 and @ChandlerParsons. Lookin' good fellas. pic.twitter.com/nTJHRrv68:32 PM - 27 Nov 12

God I hate clutchfans. I've never such an ignorant, moronic and retarded group like that. They have this weird fetish with categorizing people to make themselves feel better. They're delusional if they think their criticisms are fair and truth is, they're racist. It's a s.hitty forum bc they have a s.hitty forum owner. He could prevent a lot of the negativity if he told people to stop using those negative three letter acronyms. BUT he doesn't, bc he's an ignorant, narcissistic hick.Breathe in, breathe out. Great game by Lin, he did what he could with what he was given. He's not going to be 7/9 every night but I like the progress i'm seeing and I know he will continue to improve. Really proud of him.
They were actually praising Lin. Not sure why you are complaining.
No. The newbies praised him, that's expected and a some old-timers did...but those oldtimers always supported Lin. Guys like dreamweaver, mike_lu, hotballa - there aren't a lot of them. It's a negative place compared to other places like realgm/prosports daily. It is what it is, i'll continue to limit when I go there. What I read tonight is that they're expecting Lin to perform 16/10 on a consistent basis. Uhm, 16/10 are SUPERSTAR numbers. Not only are they hateful but they're dumb and delusional too. Sorry, i'll quit the complaining now.
just ignore the haters in CF. If you noticed, some got quieter. The more Lin delivered in the 4Q, those people will disappear. Just remind them that this is Lin not 100% yet :)
Yeah, I watched that 3 again. His foot was behind the line. Watched it 3 times on NBA League pass. In any case, Lin dominated. No other way to see this. I don't want to get too overexcited, but he is capable of these types of games more often.
Jeremy and Harden look to be forming some good off court friendship in this interviewhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kPAxGHf5LdA
I still would like Lin to have more shot attempts. I accept that he's probably never going to be a volume shooter as he's very selective with his shot selection. But even on a night he shot the ball so efficiently, he still got the least FGAs among starters, on par with the Omer "no offensive move" Asik. That's unacceptable. Lin needs to establish himself as a scoring threat night in night out to to be a great modern day PG.
That's generally my thinking in holding back on calling this a 'breakout' game. Lin did plenty with the touches he got and he got touches late, which has been my biggest area of criticism of the Rockets coaches, but the quantity wasn't there yet.It was big step in the right direction, though. It wasn'tt a full meal, but it was a full sampler platter.
I have no problems with his shot selection. You can tell that Lin intentionally looked to distribute the ball first and his teammates had the hot hands in the first 3 quarters. When they needed him to score in the 4Q, he simply delivered. He was even more efficient than when he was in NY because I still remembered he didn't shoot well in the first 3Q but delivered in the 4th. And he's still not 100% although tonight he looked the most impressive this season. No wobbly or off-balance jump when driving to the basket. Hope he doesn't force it too much tomorrow because it's back-to-back game.
YEah, JLin had a solid game, he is still far from a "breakout" game, but it was nice see his shooting is on target. The only thing lacks is the number of shots. He should plan to take at least 15 shots to begin with.As for some fans here pressing on JH as ball hog. I think many fail to understand, both JL and JH have similar PG game where they need to run with the ball to get the offense going. JH is doing what JL did last season. the major difference between the two, is JL has grace when he brings up the ball and better perimeter vision. JH tends to drive to the net (which aint wrong in any means); passing is second to him. Whereas JL would normally try to make his team made shoot or make them more offense player as he opens up them to either shoot or drive. Here is where JL need to do more, use the minutes wisely.
Psalm, yes. I also noticed that Chris Paul looks to use this approach (score less, distribute for 3 quarters and then take over in 4th) more, especially after his same knee surgery as Lin's in NOLA. Whether we like to admit it or not, knee injury does take away one's explosiveness and is difficult to recover from. It might not allow Lin to play in the high gear for 48 mins be it physically incapable or intentionally to preserve the knee as it did for Chris Paul.
You guys talk about a breakout game strictly from a scoring perspective. That's a lot of bunk. Lin had a great ALL AROUND game. He's been doing well in all sorts of things since Game One, but today he put it all together. That's a breakout game!!! I don't see why Lin has to shoot a certain number of shots. My thing is that he needs to make the right basketball play, and today he did lots of that. Sometimes that means NOT shooting. There's an ingrained albeit unnatural racial social disbelief of Lin that many people even on this site have. If Lin does well, that's automatically labeled a pitiful little "sampler" instead of the MONSTER GAME Lin just had. When people get their heads filled with anti-Lin racial garbage in the media and identify it, DOUBT is what they feel about Lin.
I like to use a touches perspective.
My favorite play of the game: The off the ball cut where Lin was fouled on a blocking foul by Lowry. There's passive off the ball and active off the ball. I'm a fan of Lin's off the ball game, which was featured at Harvard and part of Lin's game under Woodson. When the Knicks added Kidd, I thought we'd see more of it. Then it's likelihood went away when Lin was expected to dominate the ball for the Rockets. When the Rockets traded for Harden, I thought a benefit would be more of Lin's off the ball game. Instead, he was relegated to a passive off the ball stance. I've been hoping for active off the ball play from Lin all season and finally got to see it. I hope to see more of it.
Better Lin gets played off the ball for his $5 million per season with Houston than Lin playing 0 minutes for $0 with the Knicks that kicked his yellow butt off your friggin team.
+25 for JLin in this game and he had a big part of it. Only Parsons had the highest at +26 with the big help of JLin's many assists to him. Before this game, JLin was -17 for the season which is so unlike him because he was leading the +/- per game in NY.I'm excited to see how Lin controlled the offense again in the 4th quarter just like in NY. This is the first time this season, he was able to stop the other team's momentum time and time again. Raptors got as close as 12 points with 4 min left but he answered with a driving layup, 1 out of 2 FT, a steal and a dunk to increase the lead back to 15 points with 2 min left. He knew he could get to the rim anytime he wanted to and it stopped the Raptors' momentum.Overall, this is a scary Houston team when 3PT shooting was on from Harden, Parsons, Morris, Patterson, Lin and Asik and Patterson can score some inside. Raptors was actually in the game with their hot shooting but their D was non-existent. Toronto's big men were a joke when the combined rebounds of Bargnani and Valanciunas were only 9, half of Asik's total 18 rebounds!Hopefully their 3PT shooting carried over to the OKC game tomorrow but the starters really played heavy minutes so I don't expect much tomorrow. Houston just really wanted to make sure they don't lose the games they're supposed to win so I can live with that. Hopefully TJones and DMo can provide bench scoring tomorrow. All the 'explosive' stuff that JLin worked on really paid off :) And keep the positive vibes coming, folks! If I were Morey, I would pay JLin's parents to fly first class to all important games!
I am hopeful that Lin will have a big game again stats wise tommorow because OKC is bound to focus their D on Harden and less on other players like the Knicks did on Lin. But it will most likely still end up in a loss as OKC are gonna be fired up and want to prove a point at home while the Rockets are gonna be tired in a back to back and also have no one to stop Westbrook and Durant.
I hope Lin's defense can slow down Westbrook and make him take a lot of tough contested shots. Not sure if Parsons can slow down Durant, though. Yup, other Rockets need to step up their game to help Harden win this game or keep it close. I hope the bench shows up big time tomorrow. It will be sweet if Cook, DMo and TJones can get hot at the same time.
[HuffPost]The Linsanity Sham: Why Jeremy Lin Really Can't Play
This "Host of HuffPost Live and Our World With Black Enterprise" writer clearly did not try to hide the subjective racism in this hilarious article. It does not even make any logical sense to accuse other NBA players to play JLin soft under the "soft expectations" for Asian-American player and risked being embarrassed. I'm not sure why he's not ashamed of writing this hack-job disguised as an article and put his name out there.
a nice JLin's highlights by geraldd39lin as always. Jeremy Lin highlights vs Raptors || Nov 27, 2012 || HD So glad to see the nice emphatic dunk in the end!
Late to the party, but what a terrific performance by Jeremy Lin, and the Rockets team as a whole. Jeremy definitely looked more composed and relaxed, at the same time more active and aggressive. It's great to see him knock down jumpers and lay-ups.
Nobody here has given McHale and Sampson credit yet, but I will. Much criticism has been fired at McHale and Sampson for their handling of Lin. I was one of those critics until I suddenly realized what they were actually doing - playing Lin off the ball to allow him to find his shot and play his way into a starring role. The hard evidence indicates that the Rockets coaches know exactly what they're doing with Lin. He's played every game thus far, has been playing 30+ minutes, has finally found his aggressiveness and shooting touch, and is continuing to pester people on defense. Lin is morphing into a VERY fine player, thanks in no small part to McHale and Sampson's coaching. Look, I am not anointing McHale and Sampson as the most ideal coaches of all time for Lin. I just want to give them credit for keeping Lin in games and using him intelligently.
Not sure if they know exactly what they're doing with Lin but oh well. Fans are saying that Finch and Bickerstaff are the ones running the offense, not Sampson. Supposedly there's an article about this.Morey said that Mchale was hired to inspire. He's not an x's and o's coach but he's a good leader.
