  7. it's basically Parsons vs Melo right now

  9. Still say that Melo's inability to stop Parsons is a bigger deal than Parson's inability to stop Melo ...

  11. It's a 2-man gain. Parson vs Melo

  12. Lin off to great defensive start! Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Lin looking solid on defense but not aggressive on offense

    ReplyDelete
  14. When you have a 32-35 1Q you know you are watching two teams that aren't all that on defence...

    ReplyDelete
  15. he took elbow from Carmelo at the FT line

    1. Lin is often taken out at the end of 1Q and like the last game sits out the start of 2Q. Seems to be Sampson's normal sub pattern.

  18. Ah who said Lin's ball handling was shaky? Did you see the two moves he put on Prigioni? Those were sick man. Go JLin!

    ReplyDelete

    1. true, but then again....its Prigioni

    2. A good move in the NBA is legit, period. Nobody is on the court who isn't capable.

  19. Wonder whats with Kidds head... he hit another tree while driving drunk? JR on the passengers seat? :)

  20. Ugh that was not a good possession by Lin. Why did he slow down on that fast break and pick up his dribble? Take it to the basket!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That said, his last play on the break where he made that assist to Parsons was great.

      Delete
  21. omg...you all see how JLin out-run all the Knicks and passed to Parson for a dunk. Dam....He's pretty fast.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Parsons should always play like that :) 11 of 13

    ReplyDelete
  23. holy moley that parsons 3 and career high

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hahahaha...see how Raymond tried to take it to JLin? " Good try buddy, good try," said JLIN

    ReplyDelete
  25. parsons and harden show

nice steal by lin at the end of the half

    ReplyDelete
  26. Parsons has proven to be a VERY solid player with all-star potential, indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's Harden and Parsons show right now. Parsons really benefited from having Harden on Rockets.

    ReplyDelete
  28. End of 1st half - Rockets has 72 points. That's an NBA 2K13 score. Harden has shot 15 free throws. I guess Harden as primary ballhandler works when the refs are giving him everything...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Harden *Is* a top NBA player. Let's give credit where credit is due.

      Delete
    2. Kidd can't guard him. Harden just beats his man and takes it to the hole

      Delete
    3. To clarify, I wasn't disrespecting Harden, just saying his new role as primary ballhandler is predicated on getting to the line

      Delete
    4. They should have 144 by the end of the game :)

      Delete
    5. When everything is said and done, Lin has to find a way to fit with Harden, since it's clear that Rockets considers Harden to be their number 1 asset. Parsons is getting a lot of points with Harden, so it can be done, if you have a reliable shooting.

      Delete
    6. Lin needs to emulate Wade.

Wade was still able to score 20+ without being the primary option.

Not saying Lin is Wade but Lin can still score.

      Delete
  29. At the half Lin looks solid. Still not aggressive on the offensive end and picks up his dribble too much, but all in all a good half of play

    ReplyDelete
  30. Don't underestimate the Knicks. They came back in a 12-pt deficit in less than a quarter.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Rockets need some killer instinct and put the game out of reach in the 3rd.

They don't want to repeat the Portland game

      Delete
  31. Lin still need more confident to play.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. True, but on a day when Harden and Parsons are redhot, Lin is being smart by getting out of the way, and contributing on defence (which I must say he is doing very well today) and being efficient when he gets to shoot

      Delete
  32. Lin may not be doing anything too over the top, but he's shooting well and playing solid defense. Nothing flashy, but he's playing solid. No complaints + Rocket's are up.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Let JLin handle the ball and set up Harden or Parsons in 2nd half and the Rox will get this win. Play otherwise and it'll be another loss. That's what I would do if I were Sampson, but knowing Sampson, he will screw this one up somehow. Me knocking on wood....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Lin is not yet that confident. He needs to learn to play more off the ball and attack any openings.

      Delete
    2. This comment has been removed by the author.

      Delete
    3. I would only do that if things change drastically. Harden and Parsons have been the primary ball handlers today and the Rockets scored 72 in 48 mins. Maybe if the refs stop giving Harden the calls and Parsons goes cold

      Delete
  34. Honestly it's really frustrating watching this kind of basketball from jlin. He has hardly shot any free throws recently because of lack of aggression. When I see him get the inbound pass n immediately pass to Harden, I just cringe before he even cross the half court. Where is the fearless jlin we all knew? Is this because of the injury or system? I don't get it. Yes parson is hot n James is hot, but watching James go 1 on 1 while everyone watches is he ugliest defense.

  37. Damn the Knicks only shoot 3 points

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lin driving again in this game. I like what I see. He is finishing now.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Felton has 14/7 already with two 3 pointers in a row. Was that a pass or an air ball? An air ball, I guess. Man, can't even make a reverse lay-up.

    ReplyDelete
  40. LOL at Asik not dunking or laying up when up against Brewer

    ReplyDelete
  41. I like how Chandler/Asik is there to get the rebs when JLin misses...Way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's ironic that Houston's strength in transition offense is the perfect counter for the Knick's propensity to launch a lot of 3 PT-ers when they missed.

I'm lovin' all the layups and dunks :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Jeremy can't get a whistle -- Tyson flops and trips him...TO on Jeremy. Jeremy gets shoved on a fast-break...no call. But he's driving and finishing consistently despite refs pocketing their whistles against him.

This is why I can't stand NBA most of the time. It's way too dependent on refs. Harden gets calls no matter how light the contact is. Jeremy never gets calls unless he's mugged...even then it's not guaranteed.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Jeremy Lin's mind set has to change. As the team assigns him this "role player" role and the touches are already limited, he has to become more selfish whenever he touches the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Tyson is about to get ejected for that vicious elbow!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow how is Tyson still in the game...That elbow was uncalled for.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm a native NY'er and lifelong NYK fan.

I'm currently in TX and of course a JLin supporter. It sucks when the Knicks are playing horrendously with a lack of discipline and class. It sucks again when JLin looks like his pre-linsanity self. It's nice to see him with some points but to be objective.... he has very little impact in this game right now (in my opinion, it's mainly due to the lack of connection with his teammates seen in his drop in assist).

Can anyone run an analysis to see how many times each player passes to Lin? It will say something about their individual relationships.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Jaynu, it's actually Houston's system which is not PG dominant so that's why he doesn't always get touches in every possession. And Harden and Parsons have the hot hands these game so they're getting a lot more touches.

      Delete
  48. 3 and a hustle play -- great job by Lin.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hehe, Jeremy smiled after that 3.

Just relax, J-Lin! You still got the game to be a star. Can't fake those passes, steals, drives and rebounds you've been making all season.

It's just a shooting slump slump really. The Bulls games was his only real "negative" game where he hurt his team overall.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Lin for 3!! Lin is alive, Lin is enjoy the game :D

    ReplyDelete
  55. PLEASE keep the 20 point lead Rockets! BTW - Lin playing already 28 minutes

    ReplyDelete
  56. Okay, it's time to turn-off ISO-Harden

    ReplyDelete
  57. Asik finally playing good hesitation moves :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Two makable layups missed -- bad for stat.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dam refs don't give Lin any break at all.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jeremy didn't get credit for a steal he caused...that's the 3rd or 4th time that's happened this season.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sigh Jeremy needs to stop with the jump passes...

    ReplyDelete
  62. Lin to TD to throw a dagger down the Knicks throat at the end of 3Q... feels good man...

    ReplyDelete
  63. After he made the 3 , it was crowd .

    ReplyDelete
  64. 13/5/5 6/11 shooting through 3 is just fine, great set up for TD for 3 to end the quarter keeps the rocket party going

big thing that's good to see is his aggressiveness and relaxation

out boy will be fine, we all just want to see linsanity so badly like crack addicts need the pipe

at least, that's how i've been feeling

    ReplyDelete
  65. Come on Rox - 24 lead. Cant loose this one!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Lin looking like he's working his way out of his slump. Still not finishing at the rim like he did last year but it will come

    ReplyDelete
  67. i've decided not to watch the game but i couldn't help it. Might as well check the 4th quarter. I wanted the rockets to win because Jlin needed this. So imagine my surprise when its a 20 point lead. I wont make excuses for the knicks.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I don't care how this game ends. Despite refs aggressively hurting him, Jeremy consistently drove to the rim and finished solidly. He hit a 3 to break his 0-for streak. He forced steals (the scorer missed 1-2). He rebounded. He even smiled.

His teammates blew 3-4 easy assists for him, but who cares...he's been making great passes all season. His assist numbers will go up in the second half of the season once this young team plays together more.

    ReplyDelete
  69. great game for Jeremy! and yet again...he surprises us. Glad Parsons is getting comfortable and now Jeremy driving again.

This is fun to watch. Sampson feeling Lin's presence...played him more than one quarter straight.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Why the hell you all always have some bad to say about his game? First time I see the Rox play with confidence, and heck first time I see JLin plays with confidence. He's not going to make everything. The game is exciting to watch, and he does it to his old team. So just enjoy it for once and leave all the negatives unsaid.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I like how Sampson pulled Lin out after couple TOs and 3 easy misses...Give him time to reset.

Lol I esp liked Lin passing to TD to close the quarter and TD sinks that 3pt. I bet that build some chemistry there!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hmm the knicks are putting their second unit. careful Rockets.

      Delete
  72. Although Lin played decently, he needs to drive and finish those shots. Anyway, I don't think Lin had a real impact on the game though. At least, he finished with 50% shooting, the highest for this season. I would call it even with Felton's performance.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree that on offence it was Parsons and Harden who gets all the credit BUT Lin's defence and hustle was fantastic tonight. He had 7 rebounds as a point guard!

      Delete
    2. felton stunk it up aside from hitting 3s. lin pretty much shut him down, even stole it from him.

      Delete
    3. Are you fkking serious dude? No impact on the game? Playing the best D, hustled for every dead ball, dive on the floor for lose ball, hit his 3 pointer, set up for open jump shots for his team mates. What was it again>? Didn't have a real impact on the game? I'm speechless.

      Delete
    4. eb5 is always negative about Lin...tough love?

      Delete
    5. For the most part, Houston has been in most games despite shooting a lot of threes and not making that many. The only explanation is the defense. Lin is a great defensive player, and Felton really struggled at the beginning. Yes, Felton got hot later on in the game but it was too little, too late.

      Delete
    6. Agreed. Lin played great D and grabbed 7 rebounds. He most definitely had an impact. The game isn't as simple as it seems. Without his impact, we don't know how the chemistry of the game would have unfolded. And of course, this is true for all the other players who played well. It's NOT easy to play well in the NBA. And every single time you do it, it's a HUGE deal.

      Delete
    7. The problem is people sometimes think the game is only offence... And PG defence tends to get particularly overlooked.

      Delete
    8. impact? Sure he did. There was solid play all around . He may not have scored like Parsons and Harden but he still had a positive impact on the game

      Delete
    9. troll post. Eb is blind, did you see him crawl on the floor under Carmelo to steal the ball and poke Felton from behind and bring the crowd with that 3 pointer? Lin is the floor general and he's shown it tonight.

      Delete
    10. Yeah, I am fkking serious dude. Lin played well, relative to how he played. But several wild plays almost put a stop to Rockets momentum.

      Delete
    11. His defense was great today.

Offense he is still deferring...But he had some nice drives. He still hesitates sometimes.

His jumpers are starting to land, that's what counts. He is 50% today, seems insignificant, but this is very important to his confidence.

Beating an 8-2 team? That's going to be a morale boost for every rocket.

      Delete
    12. Hustle play for sure, but no floor general. Just the same handing over the ball to Harden and getting out of the way. Lin did try to drive to the rim more but couldn't finish a lot of them. Otherwise he would have had 20 points. Don't be an elfish.

    1. As the saying goes Pride Come before a Fall for a couple of anti- Lin guys on the Knicks. Lin kept his humility and fought back on this one. Well done Jeremy ! Let's hope this can be the momentum you can build on going forward.

      Delete
    2. personally i think the knicks come in afraid that Lin will embarrass them. They know what Lin is capable of. They forgot Lin has other team mates.

    1. Nobody said Felton was stinking it up dude...

    2. Look at what ntt said above. I am not making it up. Saying Felton stunk it up is not being fair.

      Delete
    3. its smith who's throwing those bricks as always.

      Delete
    4. @eb5attorney

Ok, let me amend that, other than NTT, nobody said Felton was stinking it up.

      Felton played well.

      Delete
    5. Do we really have to compare who is better/worse? Lin played a nice game albeit not a superb one. Felton played well too. Yet, this is a team sport. Lin's teammates lift Lin up with this game. Knick didn't. That is it. The game is not decided by two players.

      Delete
    6. If you go to realgm NYK, they're pretty annoyed with Felton. They said he played for himself rather than the team, and its was obvious that Felton was making it a Felton vs Lin thing rather than playing for the team.

      Delete
    7. i stand by my statement. felton stunk it up all game when lin was shutting him down. even stole it from him. hitting a few 3s when lin wasn't guarding him doesn't equate to a good game.

      Delete
    8. Gotta agree with ntt here looks like Felton made it personal...Well you know how it goes when you make it a "me" game in team sports...

      Delete
    9. Eh, Felton is a high volume shooter in this Knicks offence and if anything he took FEWER shots than he normally does. He is averaging 14.6 shots a game this season. In this game he only took 11 shots, making 6 of them.

I actually liked the way Felton played on the offence. The few times he tried to drive he was choked off by Lin. Instead, he started relying on getting good shots on the perimeter when Lin rotated off him or when Harden was assigned to him. That's smart, efficient play.

The fact that Felton had a decent game is not a knock on Lin, you know...

      Delete
  78. Lin is resting and smirking right now :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. yup he needed this win and so does the Rockets. Knicks can win some other time to a different team of course.

  79. Looks like the Knicks have used up their defense quota for the season. Can't be the champ without defense.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. one glaring hole in the knicks team is they are out rebounded even if they are winning. Once the shot aren't falling they are screwed. This game just reminded them that they still need Amare in their team.

  80. First from NY to hug JLin? Novak

    ReplyDelete
  81. Lin only got 2 true friends in the Knicks , Novak and iman .

    1. I didn't get to watch the game, followed it on espn.com. Did Iman greet Lin?

    2. So what's your point?

Are the Knicks supposed to be friends with Jeremy?

      Delete
    3. Iman is injured he wont be back till mid january i think.

      Delete
  82. all this does is set up one absolutely must watch national TV game Dec 17 at MSG and we all know how Jeremy loves them lights.

This was one hell of a middle finger by the Rockets to all of NY in support of J. They lifted him up tonight

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The offensive efficiency today was off the charts. Asik had 18 pts on 11 shots, Parsons had 31 on 17 and Harden had 33 on 15. Nobody should blame Lin for deferring tonight when three players are going off in that manner. He's not a stat-line stuffer for its own sake.

      Delete
    2. By then JLin should be close to 100%. Its going to be a nice game. Rockets will want to torch Knicks - JLin will play his heart out - Douglas as well - Knicks are going to be under pressure - protecting homecourt thats cheering for JLin :)

People say he is humble and stuff but we all know he loves to be upstage!

      Delete
    3. Lin needs to learn to play off Harden like Parsons. When he can shoot that well, he can demand more touches like Parsons.

The Rockets will never let Lin be the primary handler with the presence of Harden but it doesn't mean he can't score and have an impact on offense. Lin just needs to shoot the ball especially the 3s better.

      Delete
    4. Agreed he did a good job facilitating and seemed alive even off ball.

Shooting 50%...Missed some easy layups but Asik/Parsons were cleaning up for him...Heck Asik was cleaning up for everyone, he out played Tyson Chandler in a big way.

Harden was basically floating down the lane at times, almost penetrating at will.

I think the whole team wanted to beat the Knicks, if that is so, it means the team is behind Lin, as in fully taken him in as one of their own. That's all good.

I esp loved the TD/Lin at end of 3RD...Great pass to TD from Lin for a 3ptr, that sent the message across, I bet TD felt real good about that shot :)

Overall a great game. Parsons on fire omg, Harden and Asik was incredible, and Lin played really great tonight as well, heck even Patterson did good...Everyone else did relatively good as well.

      Delete
  83. I am more pleased with the Rockets W-I-N-N-I-N-G this game compared to Lin having scored 25 points and having 10 assists. That may sound crazy to some of you, but win demands more honor than stats. PERIOD.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. especially because Rockets is a young team. I didnt watch the the first three quarters but i saw in the knicks forum that defense focused on Lin and forgot about harden. So harden was able to penetrate and got those many free throws. And lin even with the defense on him still shot 50 percent. the world is a weird place.

      Delete
  84. Game in NYC will be awesome. Jeremy can work on his shot and then return and start draining jumpers in MSG. I was talking to some Knicks fans during Thanksgiving and they were so mad/upset that Jeremy was no longer a Knick. Everyone wanted to see it play out. Even though the Knicks are winning, the FANS are simply not having as much fun.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Really? According to the media Lin is viewed as a traitor to all of Knick's fans...

Yes I know better than to believe the media...Just sayin :)

      Delete
    2. Knicks fans are bored dispite the Knicks success. Its just not the same without Lin.

JLin still has a strong and loyal fanbase in NY. Believe me - the speactators at MSG are going to cheer for JLin. It will be fun to watch.

    3. The media is divided into pro-Lin and anti-Lin groups.

      Delete
  89. Just some random thoughts....

Lin still need to play within himself. His game is gradually coming to him. No need to be pressing or forcing shots, esp when his team has a big lead. Two avoidable TOs today. This game might be the turning point. Hitting that 3 pointer is a big confidence booster.

Very happy for Lin. Kinda of odd cheering for Lin from NYC area.

    1. Tyson chandler's no-look elbow on Asik s/h/been type 2 flagrant. It's very dangerous; it c/h/been in the eye for all he knew.

But in a way glad it was called flagrant 1, because I don't want the Nits to say that was the reason for their loss.

Finally, Rockets' 3's were going in tonight! And the Nits' 3's were contested more.... yeah.

    1. Didn't buy Carm's huggie higgies Lin.... oh brother!

At least I give Carm and his agent the credit for kicking Lin out by barking loud: Otherwise, Lin would have naively given the Nits a major discount before the free agency; and then Lin would have been promptly traded!!! No waiting period to trade Lin then.... If they had matched, then Lin would have been trade next Summer, after toiling as a backup.

Even if the Rockets trade Lin, he is FAR BETTER OFF.

    2. ztrta,

Actually, Lin and the Knicks had an understanding after the Bird rights hearing that Lin would pursue a contract on the market.

The only known negative comment from Anthony was the "ridiculous" one when a reporter asked him about the 25/3 offer. Nothing before that. In fact, before free agency, Anthony was part of Woodson's 'recruiting' dinner with Lin. Lin has maintained that his personal experience with Anthony was Anthony was a good, helpful teammate.

The Knicks played badly, but watching Harden and Parsons's roles firming up as the team's 1 and 2, and projecting what Lin could do in Felton's PG role, there are still thoughts of what might have been.

  91. YES! Winning as a team is more important than as an individual. Happy for them!

  92. Lin can only get better from here on now, together with his young teammates. On the other hand, Carmelo perhaps realizes one more time that, even he himself is playing well, he can't go far with the current Knicks team comprises of slow back court and non-existing rebounding.

    1. I said this before that, while the Nits are better team this season (in my opinion, on paper 25-35% upgrade overall; enough to make 4th or 5th in EC - on paper), their first 6 wins to start was a fool's gold (a hype) because they played either poor teams or 76er (2x) without their 2 big stars.

    2. Wait..... I know some will nit pick this. They also played the Heat in their first game, but due to the Superstorm Sandy, the Heat felt that the game should even be played. Wade donated his day's paycheck to the relief efforts and the Nits gave a heartfelt speech to the fans for coming out to see them play.

  93. That was brilliant. What a difference >50% shooting makes, huh? I came down to HTown this weekend and had the pleasure of being there tonight; here are some random tidbits maybe one or two of you may find interesting.

After missing his final 3 in a row, JLin shot 9-18 from beyond the arc... during warmups. He can't make one from the right corner; this had better change if he's gonna be camping there (kidding!).

Pregame pleasantries: a particuarly long embrace from Melo. Boy I wish I knew what he said. Lin made his way to the Knicks bench and hugged/fist bumped quite a few coaches/assts/players.

Postgame pleasantries: Novak goes over and is the first to greet Lin. Melo is second, again with a prolonged embrace and words.

Lin is not afraid to bark at the ref saying he was fouled. Good on him.

Clearly CParsons is Lin's best friend on the Rockets. They gravitate towards each other during warmups and at halftime. There was a little trivia blurb on the center screen... "Who calls him (Parsons) the most:". Lin.

I think there is nothing but goodwill between Lin and TD. When TD made his 3 (Lin asst), Lin gave a fist pump such that you'd think he was Tiger who just rolled in a 30 footer. When they were going back to the bench Lin ran to TD and put his arm around TD's neck. Nice.

Lin played so well tonight; I'm so happy for him to get over this meeting (I know he said it was "just another game" but unless you're a robot I don't see how you could just treat it as such). People around me probably thought I was a bit crazy for yelling a little more than I probably should have when he (finally!) made his three, but I know you guys understand.

I've been a huge fan of CParsons, and while I came down hoping to witness another Rocket have a breakout game, it was magnificent to watch. CP is the best deal in the NBA, the guy makes under $900K a year but works his tail off every night.

Harden was awesome. We sat along the baseline, his eurostep is so smooth, you get a different appreciation for it from that perspective. 16/16 from the line is Nowitzki like. Both he and Lin had so much production from the line last year; it seems to me the refs are letting them play so far this year (to me at least they've been consistent). Harden got pretty much every call tonight, though :).

I was freaked out when I saw Morris go down. I'll watch the game tomorrow on LP to see where the camera was focused, but I couldn't take my eyes off him, he just lay there. The replay they showed us just showed him running back, bring a hand to his head and then down he goes. I'm glad he's ok.

Asik was 6-11, but honestly who doesn't think he should be like 10-11? At least this is something he can work on.

This is such a fun team to watch. We absolutely mauled the team with the best record in the league, and we almost beat the best team in the league. There's definitely potential, it may require some patience, but I think Jeremy Lin and the Rockets are going to be all right.
