Rockets @ Hawks Game #2 Thread

Game time: 4:30 PM (PT)

  1. After watching the season opener, I felt like my IQ lowered by 20%. I am not a fan of basketball, but I am a fan of Jeremy Lin.

As for this game, it's not looking good. I ultimately feel that if the Rockets lose, there will be heavy backlash. I wouldn't be surprised if there were millions of gnome looking men who secretly hate Jeremy are sitting their fat ass + beer belly + bald head waiting for Jeremy Lin and the Rockets to lose so that they can come out to the Internet forums and claim that they were right all along to make themselves feel better and confident. Watch out for these empty people, folks.

I say this for a reason. Tonight will be a tough match against the fired up Hawks who are playing their opener, and desperately trying to fire up their fans. I think the Rockets win on Halloween was a temporary high and now they are in a hangover phase so they might struggle a bit tonight. A big tip was looking at the Vegas line and they have the Hawks favored by around 6. Win or lose tonight, Jeremy will get paid.

Ultimately I won't be watching tonight, but I might check this site afterwards to get a feel of how it went down.

And to all aspiring brothers on here, don't waste too much time on basketball and NBA drama. It's all there to dumb people down and numb your mind watching people throw a ball around. Go out, hit on girls, learn something new, do something for your community. :)

    Good luck to all.

    1. I think the basketball world understands the Rockets, specifically Lin, can play well and still lose to the Hawks. While the Hawks have had significant roster changes, they're still a veteran-filled team, a play-off team, and expected to make the play-offs again this season.

Especially if the Rockets immature frontcourt is dominated by the Hawks' borderline all-star bigs, the media will have an obvious scapegoat besides Lin.

    2. @Nemo Network Media:

If you dont like bball - whats the reason for you to like JLin? Is it a racial thing? If you dont like bball you dont share JLins biggest passion. You even claim that JLin should be dumb for watching bball games since childhood.

Its as if I said I like Tom Hanks but I dont like his acting because movies make people dumber.

Just so you know - you were the first one to post here on a friday evening so dont look down on people. Where I live its usually way after midnight when the game is being aired. So Im not wasting any time. I usually post here when Im working on the computer anyway - no time wasted. Everybody needs a hobby - I like bball and it hasnt made me dumber - I have an IQ of 142 dude!

    3. If you can watch the game watch if not don't force it. You have the power to manage your time. I only watch the game jlin is playing , and watch if time permit if not, I just look at the score to know what the results then. Sometimes basketball is fun to watch especially when jlin is in it.

      Delete
    4. Dont know why you guys worry about other peoples time management. I dont force anything. I just watch because I enjoy to watch. You guys make it sound as if it was hard work to watch JLin play bball...

  2. Honestly, I won't be able to watch most Friday night games, because I'm usually out doing something or working my ass off to make money. I will check in from time to time via my Droid phone, but that's all.

These games at the beginning of the season are almost as meaningless as preseason. The coach will iron out his lineup based on these first dozen games, decide who comes off the bench and who goes to D-League. Expect more roster cuts and moves to affect the team.

I'm hoping for a Rockets win, but either way, I know Lin will give his best on both ends of the floor, and that's all that matters.

Tonight, I will be out watching a Broadway comedy, "Seminar" starring Jeff Goldblum. I'll check the sports scores when the show ends.

  3. I'm excited tonight to see how the bench will play with Lin out. I'm really hoping to see some T-Jones finally, and Aldrich backing up Asik. This team cannot solely rely on Lin and Harden if they are to win. However, I'm really curious to see how Lin will play defensively against the Hawks since they have some great point guards.

    1. I think the Coaching staff understands that their ball handlers are in the starting lineup. I don't foresee the same thing happening again with this game.

    1. Yup, that's the anti-lin chant.

      Delete
    2. Tssss - doesnt the NBA fine teams when their fans do things like that?

      Delete
    3. It is good for JLin's mental toughness. Only superstars are being called overrated by opposing fans.

      Delete
    4. watch out for karma hotlanta. i think the most notorious was with the bulls fans and we know what happened to their point guard.

      Delete
    5. i came in late. I hate it when fans attack below the belt. Atlanta is tougher than detroit at least on power ranking.

      Delete
  5. The Atlanta crowd started chanting "overrated" as Lin was shooting some free throws. I want him to destroy the Hawks tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  6. These fans are acting like an idiot! Shame on them! That's not how a city fans should greeting players from other team! I accept the boo but not this. Sounds really stupid and low class minded.

    1. When the games is over JLin should face the crowd and say "ARE YOU NOT LINTERTAINED" -> just to show what proletarians these people are!

    2. Feed the Linferno.

That's what those fans are doing.

Go ahead, boo Lin because he's Asian. Every crowd that has done that has been PUNKED by Lin!

  18. Rox defense is solid. Offense is sloppy. Attacking that glass tho.

Jeremy shooting with his eyes closed. Can't sink one if his life depended on it. Harden carrying the team, again. Finally a nice drive through the gap tho, but the prev drive is like wtf...Why does he keep attacking the crowd?

Some scary moments cause of TD.

    2. Rockets suck at 3 pt shooting tonight - not just Lin dude.

    3. That's after he hit walls how many times? It doesn't matter when he drives into a crowd and bricks and easy rebound for Hawks.

      His shooting is sigh...

    5. Finally! 1ST HOUSTON 3 pointer and1

      Delete
    6. @Kenoshi

Are we watching the same game? JLin lets the game develop - you say he hesitates. JLin drives and you say he hits walls. If Rockets 3 pt shooting was a litle better they would be having 60 something right now.

      Delete
    7. Sure am watching the same game, watched him run into the crowd 2-3 times and got nowhere when he should have just passed the ball.

Sure there were drives where he was drawing away defenders but his plays almost looks chaotic.

      Delete
    8. It's called "trying to break well scouted tripleteams"

      Delete
    9. Chaotic - to the untrained eye it might just look that way. If youre not ok with a struggling JLin -> turn off the tv.

We got it. JLins shooting is poor. Its been bad for a while. You act suprised dude. Dont know why you have to be upset about it and point it out like you do. Rockets made only 2 of 17. Why dont you point out that Parsons made 0 of 4 when JLin made 0 of 1. How about Delfino making only 1 of 3???

      Delete
    10. Because I'm a Lin fan so I don't care about their numbers?

Don't tell me what to do, ur not my mother, I watch and say what I want, don't like it don't read my comments.

I wanna see my man Lin do well, so what?

    11. So youre one of these guys who only see JLins race? You want JLin to shine so you feel good about yourself but you dont cheer for his team? Interesting...

This is a JLin fan site and you sound like a JLin basher. Yeah - I got a problem with that!

    12. ...and I reply to peoples comments as I please - youre not my mother - dont tell me what to do...

    14. Haha touche.

*shrug* I'd be on Rockets site if I was a Rockets fan. Sure I want his team to do well, but its Lin first Rockets second.

Lol I don't need to watch Lin do good to feel good about myself, I feel great about myself everyday. I just love underdogs...And I'm simply concerned about his production, I am allowed to ask why?

Its not like I'm saying "wtf he sucks he missed shots". That's just it I know he doesn't suck.

      Delete
    15. i thought 5-11 shooting is not bad.i mean how many players averages above 50% fg. and then his FT are also good.

      Delete
    16. Haha its my fault...No other player gets me excited like this, sorry willy...While I write he freaking starts to shine. That's my boy Lin!

  20. Delfino > Novak
    Parsons > Fields
    Harden > Melo

Lin's lucky! Now if only someone will teach him how to shoot again.

    1. Seriously...Nothing is landing even when he's wasting time and shot one top of the key wide open at the end of 1st half going for his iconic Raptor shot...Soon as he launched it you knew he was way off and Hawks stole his thunder by sinking their own 3ptr with seconds left.

Hahahaha what the heck is wrong with his shooting?

      Delete
    2. I always thought that if Lin could shoot decently, he could score 20 per game, but I guess it's not so easy to develop good shooting. If it was, everyone in NBA would be shooting like Kmart or Novak.

      Delete
    3. pout pout...

i still think that he got the wrong shooting coaching from Doc Scheppler...

      pout pout...

      Delete
    4. I'm sure his knees is a factor but he just seems to hesitate sometimes when he drives or shoots.

Personally I think he is trying too hard, was hoping Harden would take some pressure off but maybe Lin is putting it on himself...State of mind is pretty important methinks.

      Delete
    5. I do think it's him being not 100% in condition and his knee. More so it's the body. Lin actually jumps on his jumpshot. I don't think it's the shooting coach etc., at least I hope not. If they did tweak his shot and that's confirmed, then wow, that was stupid...

CP3 and Nash, they hardly jump at all. The minimal jump creates a more consistent result. Lin however shoots an athletic shot, like Westbrook etc. That's why they can't shoot consistent and the results are wild. When legs die, real jump shots become off.

The best shooters hardly get off the ground. CP3 and Nash get off the ground 1 inch on their shots and they are always wide open and that's when they nail those shots time and time again. Even bigs like Novak etc they dont jump much at all.

If I were Lin's trainer, I'd teach him to jump as little as he needs on those shots. Lin is getting wide open looks.

And as I write he nails a 3....

      Delete
  21. Lin's jumper is so inconsistent. He'll have a streak of a few jumpers but then he bricks open looks and easy shots.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lin and Harden need to continue and penetrate then find Delfino for more 3PTs. The last few possessions were a bit sloppy.

Parsons just doesn't have his shooting tonight.

I wonder why Morris just disappeared after a strong 1Q?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Low steals totals by both teams at the half. This is a game where both sides are playing it safe. That tends to favor the Rockets because the Rockets play a more efficient brand of basketball. Lin will probably end up with 2 steals tonight. Atlanta will lose playing it safe.

Lin is playing ok, and getting his chances to attack at least in half #1. He lacks the fire and nothing-to-lose focus he had during the Linsanity run but it'll come back. As long as he plays OK, that is good enough for 2011. His shot looks really bad for whatever reason. Atlanta is pretty much daring him to score and shoot the ball. Lin was wide open on several jumpers.

When February rolls around, Lin should expect more of himself.

    2. Hate stats but Harden 1 of 3 and JLin 1 of 2 in 3 pt shooting. That makes JLin a better 3 point shooter than Harden so far :)

      Delete
    3. 9 out 12 ain't shabby shooting by Harden. :) Great passing by Harden to Lin.

  29. I gotta say without Harden, Rockets probably would have lost 2 games, not that they are guaranteed to win this win.

    1. I dunno.

Kevin Martin was a good player for the Rockets. Chemistry problem yes, but still a good player. Lin had just figured out how to play with Martin before the trade.

      Delete
    2. Lin playing pretty well defensively except for those several sloppy mistakes.

      Delete
  30. Lin does make some stupid unforced turnovers. I do think in a few years he will stop doing this stupid stuff. It's just because he's not use to playing with high level players playing Ivy league and all. That's why he gets his pocket picked and passes to defenders. He will eventually adjust to NBA athleticsm and stop making those mistakes.

Harden, who keeps on hitting shots, is a PERFECT teammate for Lin. As ideal as it can get as far as the players who actually exist in the NBA. Lin in turn can get the ball to Harden over and over and over and max out Harden's scoring abilities.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am just score box watching. But what is the use of Asik getting so many offensive rebs when he can't even put it back in?

Damn this Houston frontcourt is just so bad at scoring the ball.

  35. Morris - dunking inside - making 3 outside. Nice! Good Lin pass to Harden...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lin and Harden should just pass the ball to each other to get assist. Don't pass it to those frontcourt players only for them to brick again and again. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm sorry. Did Lin just pull up and make it? Nice shot JL.

    ReplyDelete
  38. As long they can win, why do we mind how many turnovers they have? Parson get some good assists tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Lin for another 3!! Who says he can't shoot. 19 points! Who says he can't score!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lin heard those "overrated" chants which might as well be "go back to china". Lin is going to impose his will and help win this game while putting up an incredible stat line tonight.

Morris heard everyone on the internet saying he is a scrub...good!

Announcer#2 - I don't think Lin would've gotten the kind of attention he got if he wasn't playing in New York.

  81. If only Lin shot better his statline would look even more beastly that it is...

    21 points 10 rebounds 7 assists...a near triple double.

    1. Yeah - with Linsanity shooting he would be somewhat around 30. Anyway 21 on bad shooting day is sort of OK. Harden with 45 - Im speechless

  85. To be frank, I would love to see the spotlight is on Harden this season. Lin isn't 100% yet. He still needa improve his shots, left hand dribbling.
