Bad math Nemo - havent expected anything else from you. Right now hes making more than 5 mil a year from his Rockets contract alone. People at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley dont make that kind of money in their second year. Most people working there dont make that money all their life...
Unfortunately after the 3 point shot early on, JLin hasn't done that well, while other starters are doing okay. Every the Rockets lead pretty good, they seem to relax their defense, sigh.
JLin playing nervous, I think. Let's hope he does better during the 2nd half.
So far, I've noticed that all the Rockets starters never seem to do well at the same time.
I kinda hate Morey's use of advanced stats in my opinion somewhat ruining the players' natural game. Okay a 3 pointer or layup/dunk are "higher quality shots" but you can't just ask players to just completely abandon the mid range game. An open long 2 > contested 3.
Also all the great scorers like MJ, Kobe, Melo and Pierce all have great mid range game. It's quite frustrating to see the Rockets jack up so many 3s when all the players are no 3 point shooters.
This team so underwhelmingly coached. Patterson and Parson DO NOT know roles... where and when to shoot. LIN gets first five points... how do you not call his number in pick and roll next couple times down. Harden looking more and more like a bad teammate... did you see when LIN knocked ball out his hand on that defensive rebound. reaction was telling.
I am not watching the game at all and no longer will do so till it's over. Don't be surprised guys or get frustrated. Accept what it is for what it is. Why do you think anything will change? Lin does not get to lead this team. He can get stats and even average 18.7.5.3 but don't expect it to be in any way dynamic.
However, the great ones are so dominant they overcome extreme obstacles. I won't be shocked if Lin overcomes to the point Harden reverts back to a leading scorer spot up shooter and slasher while Lin finally earns the trust of the team and coaches. But it's gonna take a long while for him to do that and he will have to consistently shoot the ball with ridiculous accuracy for that to happen. Till then, as long as I'm not seeing 60% consistent shooting performances by Lin, I know nothing will change and hence I need only look at the box score to figure it out.
absolutely. but he had two consecutive turnovers just when it looked like he was feeling a little groove. ... then Asik throws it off the board. you just can't turn the ball over twice in row... let alone three times.
Crap! 2 quick turnovers by Jeremy Lin. He just doesn't seem focused. Passed up an open 3-pointer then slipped and fell under Mike Conley, looks like he can't decide if he wants to shoot or dribble.
He hit the first 3 of the game, he should shoot it !!!
Damn the Rockets were an unselfish team and posted one of the most assists throughout the preseason and the 1st 2 games. But after that 3 days practice and supposed to put in some plays to feature Harden, suddenly they become an 1-on-1 team with few assists.
there's something wrong on his balance(Jlin),this is the reason why he kept falling down and get pass by good pg's,coaching staff is losing their confidence on him,he needs to straighten this up.He needs to compensate by being aggressive, on the last few minutes he went back again in camping in the corner, not a good idea.
Right now Harden should learn to be a bit more patient at times. He tried to muscle through the paint on his own and lost the ball 2-3 times. JLin on the other hand - getting quicker and better overall but a little hesitant at times.
Harden should be more Hardlin and Lin should be more Linhard...
this isn't pick up basketball where guys just do what they feel like...nba teams got a game plan and they stick to it. also, he's healing his knees...better to play slower and heal himself up than to go all out and burn and crash...get injured and sit out for another few months. They are pros, they're not stupid.
Let's stop with the excuses. People were making all sorts of excuses in the preseason. Bottom line, he's got to shape up and get it together. There's only so much of a leash he will be given.
What "leash" are we talking about and what exactly do you expect from him? Do you know anything about JLin that JLin doesnt know himself? You ever had surgery? Its the 5th game - my god...
I see JLin getting quicker from game to game. Were not just talking about forward motion but also lateral movement.
Dont forget... were talking about a young and inexperienced team with a freestyling Harden and lots of questionable coaching decissions. JLin is trying to carry this team. I dont like what I see either and JLin is still a bit hesitant at times and sharing the ball a little too much but - if JLin played like Harden did we would have a team of 2 hothead scorers and a bunch of scarecrows...
I've never seen him play this poorly. I don't care what the stat-line says, he isn't "right" right now. It's like he's forgotten how to play basketball.
They're letting Harden go iso against Tony Allen, one of the best defenders in the NBA and he just turned it over again. ISO Harden is losing this game for the Rockets.
what's wrong with Lin? He can't shoot. Maybe it's confidence or lack of. Shooting has a lot to do with confidence and it just seems like Lin doesn't have it at the moment.
Coach isn't happy about Lin's ONE turnover. Takes him out of the game. Harden and Delfino turn it over several times while he's on the bench, they stay in the game....
Jlin needs to review games,he's in trouble right now, people who knows basketball know where he is at this moment,no more excuses. This is not the Jlin that I saw in NY.
So you say a pro athlete like Lin is not reviewing games? Dude - they even watch tape in the locker room during the break. Dont know what you expect but you wont find NY JLin in Houston. No Dantoni, bunch of youngsters and a JLin who has set his mind to not be in the spotlight like he was before - a JLin who has also decided to change his game and grow as PG. As JLin fan you should not just say stuff about people making excuses for JLin. If you got constructive criticism - bring it...
I did not see this coming. Harden is reality was the worst thing to happen to Lin. Lin is partly to blame because he is so passive. Funny thing is that Woodson gave Lin way more freedom.
He looked like he waved it off for some reason. Then he airballed the shot. Nothing going right. Not sure how much longer I can subject myself to this garbage.
Where did it all go wrong? Why is he this bad? It can't just be the coaches' scheme. Even when he does get opportunities, he isn't doing anything with them. This is pretty painful to watch.
That was a terrible article by Yahoo. Bad timing to call a background the best in the league after TWO whole games. It put a huge target on Lin and Harden.
Not at all Cara. I think we all love Jeremy. But, when he's playing bad we have to be honest or our opinions don't count. Harden with 5 TO's for 4th game in row!...
Agree. You just have to read some of the comments above to see that some supossedly die hard Lin fans and bball pros have totally turned on Lin - all blaming Lin. They even say we cant make excuses for Lin anymore. Its all Lins fault. Forget the knee, forget its the youngest team in the NBA with the least experience. Dont even notice that JLin is still getting quicker and quicker from game to game.
Am I the only one here whos noticing that JLin is the hardest working man out there running like crazy? Man - NBA needs to track the distance that players are running. Otherwise - some people will never see what Im talking about. There were breaks when he was the only one running back to challenge the opponent... Some guys here sound worse than the haters when Lin was back in NY. Its unbelieveable.
This is a Jeremy Lin site, no? Honestly, all I care about is how HE plays. I can take the team losing if he's playing great. I can care less about Harden or Asik or anyone else.
Rockets are the youngest team in the league and it shows because they have no identity. They don't have any fast break points this game because Harden kills all fast breaks.
THe problem is that Harden is the ONLY Rocket that can beat his man off the dribble. Lin can't do it anymore and I don't know if it's because of his knee or if the league has caught up to him.
The Lin/Harden/Delfino/Parsons line-up. Rockets' smartest, most versatile, most veteran, best passing, best shooting line-up. Spread the floor and let them play off each other.
Guys cant get the rebounds... man... that must be so frustrating for Lin. If I was Lin I would roll up some soap in a towel and beat up some guys in the locker room...
Lin had to drop to help on Z-Bo leaving Conley wide open. McHale kept the small lineup in one minute too long. Should've subbed Patterson in right after the Memphis time out after the Lin steal and free throw.
Let's face it, even with Harden this Rockets team is going nowhere as the youngest team in the league. There is no legit PF, no offense to Patterson.
Rockets will lose many games and Lin needs to sit if he's not going at 100% because of the knee. Because anything below 100% will get him schooled by bench guys like Jerryd Bayless.
Yeah he needs to play with intensity just like he did in the 4th quarter or don't play at all. I don't care if he goes to his right hand more than his left hand just do it. Harden mostly goes to his strong hand too so who cares if Lin doesn't goo too much left. He's trying to go to much on his left hand dribble. Just go to the right.
Finally people start to blame someone else but JLin... GUYS - WERE ARE LIN FANS AND YES - LIN is not doing too well but hes getting better (physicaly) BUT HE CANT DO IT ON HIS OWN!
When he gets mad he plays on a higher ALL-Star Caliber level. I love it when he gets mad. F being the nice guy, I don't mind him being the bad boy, talk trash to everyone, push and punk guys around.
even in New york Lin gets more shot attempts than this and he has Melo, Amare, Novak and chandler on that team. All more than capable scorer. Not to mention smith who loves to shoot.
If Lin kept his dribble on his right hand Bayless would have not stolen the ball. Screw trying to go left, if you can take any opponent to the right side with your strong dominant right hand do it.
I'm as pissed as Jlin is right now. McFail give Jlin the green light all game and let him play loose freestyle basketball and you will start to get your W's!
Grizzlies are a mid-level play-off caliber team, so losing not a disappointment.
Nice burst from Lin in the 4Q after being underutilized for 3Qs. Lin basically placed in the sparkplug gamechanger 3rd guard (Manu, Thunder Harden) role. It happens to be a role that Lin is naturally suited to play.
If it takes the Lin/Harden/Delfino/Parsons line-up, which was prominent in the Pistons game, to spread the floor, jumpstart ball movement, and speed up the game generally in order to open up the game for Lin, I'm willing to sacrifice a PF and a few offensive rebounds.
In denver McFail put him in 7mins remaining in 4th. This game they put him in starting in the 4th. The difference is Jlin was able to warmup for the first few minutes so he can unleash the beast earlier.
There are two guys who should get passes for TO's. LIN and HARDEN. Of course, TO's should be limited but they handle the ball the most and take the most chances. Parsons 3 TO's and Asiks 5TO's MUST be eliminated. They should have 1 each tops. Tonight Parsons hit his shot. But, when he puts the ball on the floor in the open court its a nightmare and takes it out of LINS hands. But... I've talked about this before. LIN should really be the only guy handling the ball in the open court. Harden NEVER passes the ball when he leads the break. NEVER. NOTHING is gained by him leading his ONE MAN fast breaks. no ball movement, no sharing of the ball, no easy buckets for other guys. And, he's been getting blocked, or no foul call, or just turning it over. I hate his game. He doesn't not move for his teammates when hes off the ball. He is a poor perimeter passer. and, you can see the selfishness. Have you seen him make any decent eye contact with a teammate? with LIN? ... I haven't.
Yeah and forget about minimizing Jlins TO's. Just give it to Lin and let Lin the offense as he sees fit. Stop with this ugly looking McHail constricted offensive sets. There's like no off ball screen and baseline screen going on. It's only give ball to Harden for iso.
JLin's stat for tonight's game will be: 20pts 10dimes 5boards 2stls 3tos and Rox win =)
ReplyDelete2 steals ? That is too low
DeleteHe needs to maintain his 3.25 average :)
Jeremy needs to walk away from the game and use his Harvard degree to get a job at Goldman Sachs.

Yeah! Jeremy Lin hits the first shot of the game: A 3-pointer
ReplyDeleteThen he draws a foul from Tony Allen and hits 2 FT !
Scores the first 5 points for the Rockets.
Move closer Pat
ReplyDeleteMidrange not 3pt
I kinda hate Morey's use of advanced stats in my opinion somewhat ruining the players' natural game. Okay a 3 pointer or layup/dunk are "higher quality shots" but you can't just ask players to just completely abandon the mid range game. An open long 2 > contested 3.

Deletelin try to take harden rebound result in t/o + 2 pts =[
ReplyDeleteRockets having trouble rebounding the ball on defense. Not capitalizing on their fast break opportunities.
ReplyDeleteHarden getting shut down by the defense, bad turnover.
rockets coming out fast...looking better than the pass couple of games already...let see if they can continue
ReplyDeleteThis team so underwhelmingly coached. Patterson and Parson DO NOT know roles... where and when to shoot. ReplyDeleteBad interior defense by the Rockets
ReplyDeleteToo many points in the paint
i want to see lin shoot more.
ReplyDeleteCan't let Lin outscore and out produce Harden. :-p
DeleteAh so the game plan is exactly the same. Nothing's changed.
ReplyDeleteWe are getting the CALLS
ReplyDeleteOffensive Rebounds ?
ReplyDeleteBad last possession
Players such as Parsons and Patterson need to know their Roles.
ReplyDeleteCoaches only said Harden is the 1st option. So the 2nd and 3rd options are up for grabs!
DeleteLin should be the unquestionable 2nd option at least. it doesn't even seem like it and this should change.
DeleteI am not watching the game at all and no longer will do so till it's over. Don't be surprised guys or get frustrated. Accept what it is for what it is. Why do you think anything will change? Deletei'd actually take 18-7-5, not exactly linsanity but not bad. right now hes looking like the dreaded 12 and 6, averageanity.
DeleteThe scoreboard is wrong LOL
ReplyDeleteJeremy needs to be more aggressive and shoot more especially when Harden is not on the court. Those Houston big men are unreliable.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely. but he had two consecutive turnovers just when it looked like he was feeling a little groove. ... then Asik throws it off the board. you just can't turn the ball over twice in row... let alone three times.
DeleteWow. LIN playing with out HARDEN. I LIKE IT!
ReplyDeleteCould it be that Tony Douglas is out (injury)?
DeleteCrap! 2 quick turnovers by Jeremy Lin. He just doesn't seem focused. Passed up an open 3-pointer then slipped and fell under Mike Conley, looks like he can't decide if he wants to shoot or dribble.
ReplyDeleteHe hit the first 3 of the game, he should shoot it !!!
he was so wide open he had to take it. stop creating offense for other guys, how about yourself for a change.
DeleteI just watched James Harden dribble the ball 30 times. Nobody else touched it.
ReplyDeletelol
DeleteBad defense by Lin on Conley
ReplyDeleteNo communication on d
He was taken out of the game
DeleteRockets not doing a good job on pick and roll defense. Not warning Lin that a pick is coming. 2 quick open layups by Conley is unacceptable.
DeleteDamn the Rockets were an unselfish team and posted one of the most assists throughout the preseason and the 1st 2 games. But after that 3 days practice and supposed to put in some plays to feature Harden, suddenly they become an 1-on-1 team with few assists.
ReplyDeleteThat Harden end of quarter 3 pointer never go in, every quarter, every game lol.
ReplyDeleteNBA TV talking about Harden having carte blanche as far as the offense.
ReplyDeletePretty stupid, it should be Lin instead of Harden, I honestly believe Jeremy is the better player.
lin should be good no matter what lets not give lin anymore excuses...if he wants to be great he better play his game no matter who is on his team.
Deletethere's something wrong on his balance(Jlin),this is the reason why he kept falling down and get pass by good pg's,coaching staff is losing their confidence on him,he needs to straighten this up.He needs to compensate by being aggressive, on the last few minutes he went back again in camping in the corner, not a good idea.

ReplyDeleteIdk, maybe Lin got hurt after that slip on the floor. He looks a step slow tonight, Conley blew by him way too easily.
ReplyDeleteHere we go again.........
ReplyDeleteThey're letting Harden go iso against Tony Allen, one of the best defenders in the NBA and he just turned it over again. ISO Harden is losing this game for the Rockets.
ReplyDeleteharden is looking like a 6th man this game though
ReplyDeletemaybe a change in plays will do
ReplyDeleteHarden is such a fricking BALLHOG.
ReplyDeleteHe's singlehandedly losing this game...if it weren't for superstar calls, he'd be completely useless.

DeleteNo more Jeremy?
ReplyDeleteearly subout
ReplyDeleteCoach Mchale needs to get into Parsons' ear about bringing the ball up the court. He's not a point guard.

ReplyDeletewhy are the non-ballhandlers bringing the ball up ?
ReplyDeleteJeremy is already getting benched by MCFAIL.
ReplyDeleteTypical.....
Jlin needs to start showing he deserves to to be a starting pg. This lineup without lin looks more fluid.
ReplyDeleteHe needs to rebel and do his thing
DeleteCoach not happy with Lin. He's sitting out the last 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter. Looks like he'd rather have Harden running the show.

DeleteDelfino fits better with Harden if they are just using Lin as a floor spacer.
ReplyDeleteJames harden is not a pg!
ReplyDeleteI did not see this coming. Harden is reality was the worst thing to happen to Lin. Lin is partly to blame because he is so passive. Funny thing is that Woodson gave Lin way more freedom.

Lin really needs to find his jump shot. that will cure everything for him.
ReplyDeletefriggin bayless
ReplyDeleteWdf bayless stealing the ball from lin. Jlin go to your right hand..ur looking like a damn scrub
ReplyDeleteRight now he's just struggling to dribble the ball. Nuts!
ReplyDeleteRockets need to stop resorting to isolations !! That's the Grizzlies game.
ReplyDeleteAir f ing ball...get your confidence back or your going to get linched by all haters
ReplyDeletesaw that too, nice knowing all this getting his teammates involved is paying off.

Deletereminded me of golden state, why i need to set a pick for you, i'm doing my own thing

ReplyDeleteLIN looks awful. AND, Bayless is kicking his ass.
ReplyDeleteBayless is making lin look like a scrub that still cant dribble left
ReplyDeleteJeremy started the game looking so good...
ReplyDelete...and then McHale let Harden play Hero Ball for 20 minutes.
...then Jeremy came back playing like crap.
I'm losing some faith in McHale and Harden. They seem to have no idea what they're doing.
Also, Jeremy asked for a screen and Morris just ignored him...leading to an airball 3.
DeleteJeremy gave him a talking to afterward, though.
Maybe Jeremy needs to change his jersey number to 17 again. SMH......
ReplyDeleteJeremy needs go into survival mode right now. NO turnovers. I'll be surprised if he finishes out this game.

ReplyDeletejLin handle is shaky

they need to be running PNR with BOTH harden and lin. right now the offense looks terrible

ReplyDeleteWhere did it all go wrong? Why is he this bad? It can't just be the coaches' scheme. Even when he does get opportunities, he isn't doing anything with them. This is pretty painful to watch.
ReplyDeleteI know
DeleteIt is painful to watch this atrocity
Lin started the game hot on both ends.
Delete...and then McHale took the ball out of his hands.
Game over. To be fair, Jeremy has played scared and out of control this half.
The Rockets need Linsanity (i.e. high pick and roll bonanza).
This is awful to watch. All they do is have Harden hold the ball and run down the clock. one pnr and out. 4th quarter offense. Awful
ReplyDeleteLinsanity's not coming back. Jeremy looks like trash out there sorry to say and this offense is not helping. 6 shots in 4 quarters? wtf.
ReplyDeleteRockets are the youngest team in the league and they have no identity. No fast break points tonight because Harden kills every fast break.
ReplyDeletewhy did he bring the ball up court then call for chandler to come back then dumped it off and left? is he not confident anymore?
ReplyDeleteWell, everyone's playing like crap now.
ReplyDeleteBad offensive sets
ReplyDeleteHave Harden and Lin gone from the best backcourt in the league to the worst?

ReplyDeleteLin is dominating. Harden know your role.
ReplyDeleteTHATS THE JEREMY I KNOW
ReplyDeleteTAKE ****ING CONTROL
He's a one man comeback...let's see if he can pull it out.

ReplyDeleteIf Lin just played like this the WHOLE game
ReplyDeleteGreat job coach, don't play Jones or Smith but play Delfino vs Randolf.
ReplyDeleteMcFAIL will be next to Mike Brown
ReplyDeleteWe need mike d'antoni here!

DeleteFinally people start to blame someone else but JLin... GUYS - WERE ARE LIN FANS AND YES - LIN is not doing too well but hes getting better (physicaly) BUT HE CANT DO IT ON HIS OWN!
ReplyDeleteThis is what happens when the other team has a real front court with low post big men, and all you have is trade bait for Dwight Howard.
ReplyDeleteMcFail needs to let Jeremy take 20 shot attempts not just 8-12 shot attempts.
ReplyDeleteHarden is getting guarded. Like we most predicted he's going to get shutdown.
Jeremy needs that aggressiveness for the whole game. He waits too long to unleash the beast.
DeleteYes he needs to unleash the beast in spurts. Like early 1st quarter, then late 2nd quarter, rest 3rd quarter, then go all out all 4th quarter.
DeleteWhen he gets mad he plays on a higher ALL-Star Caliber level. I love it when he gets mad. F being the nice guy, I don't mind him being the bad boy, talk trash to everyone, push and punk guys around.
DeleteI love the mad Lin.
He needs to play MAD ALL GAME LONG
DeleteHe needs to kick ass
Forget about being unselfish; Take 20-25 shots if he has to
Hell yeah I agree. All the top PGs in the game do it.
Deleteeven in New york Lin gets more shot attempts than this and he has Melo, Amare, Novak and chandler on that team. All more than capable scorer. Not to mention smith who loves to shoot.
DeleteHe needs to be Russell Westbrook in the next game.
Delete@romz
DeleteExcatly man, that's why it's a McFail. 20-25 shot atempts will open his game up.
Nice finish by Lin but Rockets lost so Lin's going to get most of the blame for the lost.
ReplyDeleteExcept for his fast start, JLin stunk it up for the first 3 quarters.
ReplyDeleteBut to his credit, he came on strong in the fourth quarter.
Final line:
15 points (5-10), 5 reb, 3 assists, 2 steals and 4 turnovers.
Except for the ugly turnovers (esp. 2 steals by Bayless), not a bad line by Lin.
If Lin kept his dribble on his right hand Bayless would have not stolen the ball. Screw trying to go left, if you can take any opponent to the right side with your strong dominant right hand do it.
DeleteThe little spurt at the end made his line look better, but he was very bad for a lot of the game.
DeleteI think Lin played well considering his "role playing" role.
ReplyDeleteLin played well in the 4th quarter when he didn't play role player mode. He was like screw this I'm going to play freestyle basketball.
DeleteYes, Lin should keep going right and his left will open up. No need to force going left when right is his dominant side.
Delete@Cara,
DeleteYou always think Lin plays well.
This lost due to turnovers and rebounds. But it feels like turnover is the reason to this loss as easy turnovers make team lose confidence
ReplyDeleteoffensive rebounds and fastbreak points killed them
DeleteI'm as pissed as Jlin is right now. McFail give Jlin the green light all game and let him play loose freestyle basketball and you will start to get your W's!
ReplyDeleteGrizzlies are a mid-level play-off caliber team, so losing not a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteNice burst from Lin in the 4Q after being underutilized for 3Qs.
But I felt the Rockets could have won this game
DeleteI actually recommended a line-up like this on previous thread.
DeleteExcept I said have:
Lin
Douglas
Harden
Defino
Patterson
That's 4 3 point threats.
poor rebounding line-up
DeleteThe good news?
ReplyDeleteJeremy is BACK...as long as he plays AGGRESSIVE.
As long as Jeremy keeps attacking on defense AND offense, the Rockets can beat anyone.
If he plays SCARED like he did for half the night, the Rockets can't beat anyone.
But he waits until the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. He did the same thing against Denver.
DeleteHe just cannot wait this long
In denver McFail put him in 7mins remaining in 4th. This game they put him in starting in the 4th. The difference is Jlin was able to warmup for the first few minutes so he can unleash the beast earlier.
DeleteI'd be nice if Jlin could dump it to Asik and not have him fumble it.
ReplyDeleteYeah Asik has butter Fingers and can't finish a layup
DeleteThere are two guys who should get passes for TO's. Have you seen him make any decent eye contact with a teammate? with LIN? ... I haven't.
ReplyDeleteHarden showed in the playoffs last year that if he's heavily guarded by a good defender he gets shutdown.
DeleteHe also showed last year that when he's off, he can't regain his shooting touch again for the whole night.
I hope Harden and McFAIL realize that they need Lin to get involved in the offense.
DeleteI hope McFAIL realizes that Lin deserves more touches. They cut the 12-point lead when Lin got going.
ReplyDeleteIf he still doesn't change his plays then suffer the consequence
DeleteYeah and forget about minimizing Jlins TO's. Just give it to Lin and let Lin the offense as he sees fit. Stop with this ugly looking McHail constricted offensive sets. There's like no off ball screen and baseline screen going on. It's only give ball to Harden for iso.
