InsideHook New York @InsideHookNYOur (Asian-American) intern says that Jeremy Lin (@Jlin7) is the first Asian-American on @GQMagazine's cover. Can anyone disprove this?3:05 PM - 24 Oct 12GQ Magazine @GQMagazine@InsideHookNY @JLin7 He's the first Asian-American athlete. We had Jackie Chan in August '96.3:08 PM - 24 Oct 12
Jackie Chan is neither AMERICAN nor ATHLETE. They serious?
I hate when certain people try to bring up Rex Walters as the first Asian-American. Like they bring up Keanu Reeves in defense of Hollywood being fair to Asian actors. Please tell me Rex was kidding with this quote:"I consider myself Japanese-American. I just don't look it. People are always surprised. Now we got a guy like Jeremy Lin breaking barriers, I'd like to think I played a small part in that". He later added, "People ask me who I am? What I am? I am a Japanese-American, I take great pride in that."
why is rex walters not japanese-american? I mean is obama not african-american because his mother is white? I do think that Rex walters, hines ward, and keanu reeves did break barriers. I just think Jeremy lin took it to another level. But i do believe rex walters did take a small part in breaking barriers.
What background Rex Walters has doesnt really matter because people judge books by its cover. If you dont look asian - if your name doesnt sound asian - people simply dont treat you asian. Therefor -> no stereotype - no stupid jokes - no taunts and racial slurs. People who dont look asian and claim to go through the same thing as asians are ignorant. Its the same about black people. If youre not black - dont act like you know what strugles black people go through. If you dont believe it -> wear a hoody and try to get a taxi at night. You wont have a problem getting one unless your black...Yes - you may not like it but people do judge people by the looks. They even judge themselves by their looks. For example - I have met caucasians who were looking down to latinos and asians, refering to them as "damn" immigrants and talking about the founding fahters and stuff when they were actually germans who came to the US in the 50s and 60s -> immigrants themselves.Another example -> Japanese americans were interned during second world war. People were afraid that those japanese americans could act as spies and so on. Why havent german-american been interned? After all - it wasnt just the japanese the americans were fithing against. They were fighting against nazi gemany as well. Germany and Japan were alies back then.Europeans and africans still immigrate to the US nowadays. For some reason - in every day life those people are not being refered to as immigrants when latinos and asians are... why is that?
jackie chan is an amazing athlete, but jeremy could kick his ass in an MMA battle.

Finish stronger JeremyTwo missed opportunities
Hmmmm...... Felty has better points and better shooting again in today's game, but he's -4 and they eeked out a win by 2 in OT...... whereas Jeremy is +10 and they cruised to a win by 7 points (they were winning by 17 fairly late and they got sloppy). Interesting heh?
Yes, nice defense by the rockets
Bad offense by the two teams
Bad last possession defense by the rockets; No one helped Parsons
1st Quarter:Rockets were able to score on the fast break but struggled in the halfcourt. Too many contested jumpshots. There were also a lot of deflections by the rockets leading to a lot of fastbreak opportunities. Jeremy look quicker than last week as indicated by the plays he drove into the basket but have to finish harder.
It's funny because if Linsanity never happened, nobody would believe Lin could score the basketball based on preseason. It really looks like Lin is having problems being efficient/productive in structured sets right now. Crazy layups and bricked jumpers....The only thing going for Lin is his decent decision making in half course sets and his defense on slow footed Vasquez and his ability to steal and knock balls around. It feels like Lin wants to play free and dominate the ball more on offense and use multiple PnR's but he's confined to pass to Kmart or the 4 man then run to the weak-side corner. And it seems everyone except Lin is doing ok/well in the structured sets. Lin plays best in free-wheeling chaos and the Rockets offense is all about structure and options and counters off structure. I also like how Lopez held Lin under the basket and then subtly tripped Lin, who sadly fell into it. As much as I'd like to see Les bring in Dantoni and let Lin dominate the ball again in a free wheeling offense, I think Lin is the problem right now and I don't even think D'Antoni and his offense could magically fix Lin's ails right now.
Why you said Lin is the problem? Did he make things worse? He made games better. The only problem he has now is his shooting ability. He lost confidense to some kind and if he went to the rim, three players blocked him. And no one helped him too. Other players in Houston has good 3 point shooting like Martin. If Lin s good with that, he will be very good. Look at the 3rd part, most of the attacks lunched by Lin and other players just shoot. I'm not sure what sets they are playing.it's not PNR, right?
Lin is the problem in terms of him being bad on his own. He is not a problem like Melo ballhogging. I am referring to Lin being his own problem because he can't get out of his own way and he's causing his own ineffectiveness regardless of Kmart ballhogging, regardless of McHale having Lin stand in the weakside corner on 50% of the plays, regardless of everything else.Bottom line is Lin is not playing well because he is not playing well so he is his own problem. Nothing can fix the way he is playing but for himself.
Greg smith should be the back-up center rather than D-Mo. He looks quicker and more fluid; Also, he's not SOFT.
anybody got the game?

Why would you leave Anderson from the 3pt line TWICE?!! By the way, Jeremy better start making those inside shots or pass to an open teammate. He only has 2 ast so far, I was expecting around 15 assists.
You can't get assists when your teammates are missing shots.
I know, Delfino missed two open 3pointers.
No Novak, he.
Lol, spoke too soon.
3:51 jones jump shot is assited by Lin not Martin Who is doing recoding ? Sucks
It's tiring watching Vasquez play. He thinks he can take Lin but he can't. He just keeps turning the ball over or gets stuck. I wish McHale would force the team to play through Lin. If Lin were hitting his shots and making his layups, it would just happen naturally. Btw, I hate Kmart's game...if he can't shoot it, he turns it over. And he tries to fix the TO on the next possession by jacking up a jumper...
I agree with you. He's turning into MELO already during the PRE-SEASON. He makes bad decision and holds the ball too long. A BLACKHOLE
On a few plays where Lin is open, Kmart looks him off and passes to a big like Asik and then Kmart will run to Asik and demand the ball right back and do a dribble handoff and jack up a shot. On one play Martin threw it over Lin to Parsons. I noticed Kmart prefers to pass to Parsons/Delfino over Lin if both guys are arguably open. It could be Martin wants to keep Lin's stats down. Other players are also choosing to pass to other guys over Lin since Lin's offense is so bad right now. Thing is Lin plays ball the right way, playing hard D and busting his ass and playing physical gritty ball. And that Lin is the only guard who consistently makes decent entry passes/assists because Kmart sure can't. If his offense weren't so horrible, Lin would be fine. I hope the coaching staff can see Lin hustles on D and makes chaos happen and starts to trust him more and put more on his shoulders than having him hide in a corner on offense.
yea..hope so. feels like he is not yet fit in the rockets. the players seems like don't have his back.
Why are the Rockets not allowing Lin to run the high pick-n-roll?I don't like their offensive strategy.
Jeremy looks very tired during the timeout.
Lin has forced Vasquez into 6 TO's not to mention just making Vasquez look incompetent. Even though Vasquez stinks, that takes some effort. It's just not an offensive showcase of Lin's ability so nobody cares. Luckily Lin gets paid 25 mill so he can sleep better at night. I predict Vasquez either ends with over 10 TO's or the coach simply pulls him in the 2nd half....
"Luckily Lin gets paid 25 mill so he can sleep better at night."That is a terrible thing to say to a pro player - especially to someone as conscientious as Jeremy. Most players have pride and they want to perform well for their employer, coach, teammates and fans. And their performances are so public (it's mass entertainment, just like any show business), so they have the added motive. Unfortunately, you're not the only person who have assumed that about Jeremy. Either you have a cynical view of his character (in which case you're wrong) or your own character is like that and therefore you feel everyone is like that. I'm sure it would bother Jeremy at any time *if* he doesn't perform well (which is what you're implying). In fact, he'll probably feel more pressure because he's well paid. However, in these somewhat meaningless preseason games, Jeremy has been playing well, despite his shooting slump - particularly if you compare his overall stats to the top 10 PGs . His shooting should pick up soon enough because he's done it before.
Jeremy does not read my posts so no worries. I think you partially misunderstood me. I mean he played great D but it will go unnoticed as everyone from fans to media focus on his offensive contributions. But Jeremy can sleep easier despite lack of praise/attention for his great D because he is being paid well. That is what I meant.
got ya! (;~)
The Rockets better blow this Hornets out. They are better than this team. By the way, I can see two problems for the Rockets. First, Kevin Martin aka blackhole , is hogging the ball and making bad decisions; thus, no offensive flow. Second, McHale's offensive gameplan. If the rockets continue to execute the same plays in the regular season, then I doubt Jeremy would thrive in such an INEFFECTIVE offense. Give the ball to Lin = WinAllow Kevin "the blackhole" Martin to run the offense = Lose a lot
agreeeeee! he should make more shots and why don't him make more shots? feels like he want to contribute more for his teammates.
I'm so worried about Lin? If he didn't do good this year, will he be traded to other team?I hope he will not have the bad luck like Yi Jianlian. I think Houston doesn't bring any good luck to Lin, maybe Fengshui is good. Or somebody doing some kind of curse to Lin. Why he lost all shooting skills?
Don't worry about Lin. The Rockets won easily and Lin was a +10 (in +/-). His shooting *will* come back; they don't usually come back overnight when a player is streaky. He is practicing.
anybody got a link to the game?
See, Give Lin the ball = excellent ball movementI do not understand why McHale does not allow Lin to run the high pnr for the whole game and not just a portion of the game.
I guess they are testing it out then. I want to see more excitement. I believe giving the ball to lin will make the ball movement a lot more and excitement on the court.
If Lin is the focal point , I am afraid opposing teams would double team him increasing the chances of him getting injured so..for now I think it is fine. I just hope Lin is 100% by the time the season starts. I think Mchale is also trying different plays. what is positive is that mchale is tying to have his team have a defensive mindset.
It seems like me and a 2 other people on this planet are the only ones who can see Martin stinks and avoids involving Lin even if it kills the offense....hope Les Alexander who paid 25 mill for Lin can see it...
I see it too. Melo's twin brother. In the third, Martin totally forced a shot.
Martin COULD be such a great piece to this team. But it seems like he is afraid of Lin, doesn't want Lin to shine and is so concerned about scoring, he doesn't understand he doesn't ever have to force anything at all because Kmart is such a good shooter. And it's so clear Kmart cannot create or pass. However, rather than defer to Lin and pass back out for Lin to reset and create(like Shumpert and JR Smith did last year), Kmart goes solo and does some crazy ballhog action or just avoids passing to Lin to pass to someone else.
swing I am getting that vibe too. I know I trashed tyson but Asik is a big dope compared to him. Melo the original black hole is at least a force out there who is kevin martin.
@ swing..i can see that martin stinks... i think he's just envious of jlin or whatever...
Where is the DAMN foul refs?!!!!This refs are not giving Lin any call at all
I am afraid we might see this very often :(
Exactly! Even the commentators notice that!
Another NON-Call, Damn you REFS!!!!
Lin starting to learn...looking of Martin to pass to the other side. It's also comical when Martin tries to copy Lin and throw those lead passes and throws it 2 feet over Asik's head.
Lin should have 9 assists3 missed 3pts by Delfino (by the way they are open)1 fg of Jones was not listed to Lin
On the bright side, the rockets have multiple players who can pass well such as Lin, Parsons, Asik, and Livingston. Just don't allow Martin to be a pg. Just give him open shots.
I feel like K-Mart is going to be a problem on this team. The dude is definitely a me-first type player, keeps dribbling out the shot clock and only passing if he can't find his own shot.Jeremy is still looking a bit slow-footed compared to his usual self, think it will be a while before he will regain his previous form.
That's Kevin Martin being Kevin Martin. Now we all know why every team includes Kevin Martin as a trade throw in and dumps him as soon as they can. What Martin is doing with Lin is no different from what he has done in every NBA season he's played. At this point, NBA GMs are fully aware of Kevin Martin's selfish tendencies. This is why the Rockets weren't able to trade him away in the offseason!
I know looking at a players stats is not a correct way of looking at their efforts and skills, but I like to see lin score more. I know he has the ability to do so. I don't like what i see the same players scoring 2 digits every game night. But I sense maybe it's preseason and his knee is not yet fully recover so he doesn't need to do all that. Hope that will change a little in the future.
I want to see just 1 game where Lin proves he can still score so people will shut up about his offensive woes. I think he's looking to pass on almost every possession.
yes...I agree with you. that's also what I am thinking. I think he choose to passing more rather than scoring.
1 game? critics dont even want to acknowledge his 25 games let alone 1 game. I think what is important is that Lin becomes a good decision maker. Most importantly , get the win.
Dystopia it seems like he's somewhere between his passive hot potato passing days in GS and the linsanity machine. God i hope this is just a preason funk he looks like old man jason kidd at times.
I'm more upset at why Lin doesn't actually shoot the ball. He's just charging in hoping to get fouled. I mean seriously, there's something more than a layout. He's taking what the defense gives him. Also, seriously KMart is just making bad decisions. Why did he not give Lin the ball when he was wide open next to him and instead lose the ball? I mean luckily they're winning. I can't believe Lin has no confidence in his shots, he said he was practicing and yet doesn't even attempt any 3s?
Jeremy has become an ELITE playmaker. And if he plays half as well defensively as we've seen, he deserves to be All-NBA Defensive, if only 2nd Team. Probably won't happen thanks to idiot public perception, though...Just need to shake off the rust on that jumper! He'll be an Elite Player period when he does.
Great ball movement by the rockets
Lin back in, no Martin. Thank you.
Bad offense by jeremy; too many TOs
Just can't produce....
Jeremy is getting HAMMERED under the basket -- not a single whistle. Disgusting officiating. On the bright side, most refs DO call the proper fouls on Jeremy's drives. Not this game, though.
Yeah, I wonder if Jeremy ever complains to the refs and demands foul calls. Most veteran stars do that, and after the next time out ... they get calls for drawing contact, just like magic ...
Lin has lost all his shooting touch, struggling to get the ball to the rim. This really limits his options on offense. He's driving under the basket too much, looking to pass. He needs to develop a good floater so he doesn't need to constantly be a battering ram.
He has a floater...
The no-call fouls are SO frustrating, especially they are turned into TOs...
What an ugly game. Unless you want to watch Lin, that game was unwatchable. And even Lin was unwatchable. If Lin struggles all year long like this, I think McHale might lose his job if Lin actually voices displeasure over his limited role in the offense, assuming the Rockets have a sub .500 record. But again, I think Lin is the problem right now, not McHale.
Perhaps, McHale could wake up and gentlely point that out to the referees?
Why does Jeremy keep losing the ball when driving to the basket? 6TOs already; Too much
6 TOs, preseason = doesn't matter
He's jumping to make the pass. He shouldn't leave his feet ... do a pump fake or a head fake to get them in the air. He should not jump if he's looking to pass the ball. Basketball 101.Steve Nash never jumps for layups or passes, he just flips the ball up into the rim with one hand.
Exactly!Jeremy needs to stop this bad habit of his.
It's obvious he's not looking for hit shot or his own lay-up. He's playing very conservative. Yes it looks like he played a bad game. It's preseason, end of story. Regular season will reveal everything whether his preseason performance is Jlin's current state or if he was just cruising to get his knee into game shape.
Jeremy played excellent defense but another bad offensive game except in the third quarter where he controlled the pace.
3rd quarter they were playing a different type of offensive, more pick n roll vs. the other quarters was more of offensive sets.
Bad game from Jeremy. Just looks slow and tired out there. 6TOs 1-8FGHis 2 steals and 2 blocks while playing good D is the only positive I saw tonight. Feel like he regressed from last game.Too much running into a crowd and getting blocked/losing the ball, still too much jumping into the air without knowing what to do. Hope he gets it together before the real games start.
They bait Jeremy to come in and collapse on him. He can't shoot from the outside right now. That is his main problem. He also has to shoot the 12-15 footer when he is in the lane and recognizes he doesn't have the advantage driving against the big men at times.
You know how you guys were talking about conspiracy theories? I have this bad feeling that alot of refs would be biased against Lin. Lin is a slasher and gets points from layups and fouls. If the refs do not give correct fouls, it might take away Lin's game. there was MAYBE some biasness towards Lin when he was in new york too. (giving fouls )you know how it is. For example, when philiy palyed ny recently, phily did very well and won but ESPN showed hilights of all knick plays instead of philly . If I did not remember correctly, they didnt even mention phily won 6 out of 7 games. really impressive. That is why players like to play in "popular teams" cause they get more recognition.
He needs to shoot some floaters since he always loses the ball when driving. He looks too much to pass the ball under the basket resulting to a turnover.
I totally agree with that assessment. He needs to mix it up. You can clearly see he is still really uncomfortable with his outside shots. Preseason is the best time to work on his shots in a real atmosphere with real ball pressure. I mean the guy he passes it off to might miss the shot anyway.
If you pay attention to Lin's preseason games. It's not the way he plays. I never seen him jump under the rim and try to pass before. Once he's that deep in the key he will go for a layup. I think he's reserving his knee for the long season. He will turn it on when it counts.
I do believe he just doesn't get up for preseason games. When it counts he delivers.
Martin needs to focus on shooting open shots and moving without the ball. They cannot let him be the facilitator since he's a terrible decision maker and a blackhole. Jeremy must avoid driving through a crowd. This was his mistakes last season. Shoot Floaters Jeremy. He better improve his decision making. 6 TOs are way too much.
Jeremy looked pretty bad during the preseason. I'm a bit worried, but hopefully he can turn it around for the season opener . He isn't playing with that swagger that he once had and has no confidence with his jumpshot or even his driving abilities. He's acting like he's the worst player on the court, and he has to take control of the offense. I don't want to keep seeing Martin, Jones, Parsons, etc pushing the ball up the court every other possession. Lin's gotta come to the ball and set up the offense from there. Being I huge J-lin fan. It's extremely frustrating to see all of this. He's playing passive, trying to force the pass, and not shooting when he's open. I believe in Jeremy and I think he can push through, and have a great season, but he's gotta play like himself.
Preseason, irrelevant. If it were relevant, then you'd have to ask how the team being 4-1 with Lin as starter and 0-1 with him on the bench isn't anything but awesome. This is about wins, right. In the preseason, Lin's been the difference maker due to defense, just like last year with the Knicks.Lin's offensive efficiency is going to be severely hampered if they don't run high pick and rolls. The current offense doesn't play to his strengths and instead makes him into a set shooter, which he isn't good at and is losing confidence in by the second.
I think it's more about frustration than losing confidence. He's competitive & most competitive alpha males don't loose confidence. They get very upset at their performance and become the worst critics of themselves. They just playing high picks for Lin, but no pick n' rolls. Not sure why, but they should it would open up their offense more.Like I said in previous posts, it's hard for someone to feel comfortable if they're trying a new shooting stroke. It's one of the hardest things to change and make natural. It's like trying to change a habit that you've been used to all your life like writing with your right hand for 24 years, then all of a sudden trying to write with your left hand.
It's weird because McHale's playbook is supposed to be pick and roll heavy. Last year he ran a lot with Lowry and Dragic as his PGs. And Lin is supposed to be this pick and roll PG. But somehow they rarely ran this play and seemed to limit Lin's usage on offense.I don't know if it's due to1. Lack of pick and roll big men. Rockets big men don't seem to know how to set a good pick nor when to roll to the basket.2. Right now it's preseason so McHale is trying new plays.3. Lin's injury is still bothering him so McHale is limiting his usage and let him cruise through the game more.It has to be one of these reasons or McHale is an idiot for not using Lin properly.
Any point guard in the league would struggle if he was turned into a set shooter. McHale is still teaching the offense. As the season winds down, the Rockets will be forced by defenses to change things up.What Lin is going theough reminds me of what Larry Bird went through in college. One game, Digger Phelps and Notre Dame decided to triple Bird all game long. Bird got "stopped", but his trammates played hero ball and won anyway. Bird scored like 4 points and his IU yeam won easily. Same with Lin this preseason. Like you astutely said, 4-1 is the only Lin record that sort of matters this preseason.
While I agree its only preseason... its still frustrating as a jlin supporter to see him struggle so mightly with his shot. Its got his game off for sure. Not a good game for him..he played great defense on the bright side. I hope he can work it out before next wednesday.
Send Lin bavk to Palo Alto to relearn his shooting form from his DAD. Lin's girly shot learned from Doc Scheppler is not working. I predicted this summer that Lin would start the season in an extended shooting slump, and I've bitten my tongue about Lin's poor shot mechanics a few times. No more. Gie Ming Lin taight Jeremy his side soccer shot that NBA Hall of Famers like John Stockton used. Lin got into the NBA with that shot and should go back to it. The side throwing soccer shot used by NBA Hall of Famers won't win shooting contests in empty gyms the way Lin's girly ahot will. But it'll consistently put up soft high arched shots of the sort Lin used during Linsanity. Gie Ming Lin is the BEST shooting coach Jeremy Lin ever had. Lin needs to have his dad retrain him to shoot like the Hall of Famers that Gie Ming Lin was studying!
Yeah, his dad was such a great coach that he didn't bother teaching his son left handed dribbling.Hint: Guys who have NEVER played basketball at all, should not be coaching basketball.
Jeremy Lin dribbled that left hand into a state championship, a record setting college career, and into the NBA. Good technique is good technique. Lin learned to shoot from his dad, and that's why he's always been a good game shooter until this season. Lin should stick to what works, especially since his dad learned it from watching Hall of Famers. Lin needs to repair his shot. Somebody needs to step in and UNCOACH Lin from doing that unnatural looking errant girly shot.
No he used his dominant right hand dribble in high school, college, and the NBA, when he did go left, he crossed over to the right almost immediately (Watch the highlights). He only started to use his left hand dribble recently. He shot 34% from 3-point at Harvard. He shot only 32% from 3 for the Knicks.Bad shooting form is like typing with the Hunt & Peck style. A lot of 10 year-olds do it, and might even become very efficient at it. But they will never be as efficient as someone who learned to type the correct way.
Jeremy Lin shot and dribbled a dominant.600+ win loss record with the Knicks that would have been substantially higher had Carmelo Anthony not tanked games. Jeremy Lin shot and dribbled his way into the NBA with a dominant record setting Harvard career and a dominant summer league. Right now, Jeremy Lin is shooting and dribbling his way to a 4-1 Rockets record that shows no sign of abating. Regardless of what I think about Lin's girly shot, his teams are WINNING GAMES. Until Lin's teams stop winning, I can't wipe the Lin induced GRIN off my face!
Good:- Jeremy played excellent (especially in the first half). Help defense and pick and roll defense was sharp. He forced turnovers even without really stealing the ball. I'll give him an A for his defense- He controlled the pace in the 3rd quarter resulting to 3 assists and a double digit lead. It could have been more but there are extra passes made so the assists goes to other players but Lin initiated the offense.Bad:- He still shot the ball poorly- When he drives, he loses the ball or gets blocked- Also when driving through CROWD, he always passes while jumping leading to a lot Turnovers. Solution:I feel Jeremy cannot play the same way as last season since he does not have his full athleticism and probably not going to regain it for a few more months. So, he'll shoot more jumpers. Only Lin can help himself to make sure those jumpshots are made. Another adjustment he needs to make is decision making. He shouldn't JUMP while PASSING. That is the BASIC RULE. Moreover, instead of driving all the way through the crowd of defenders in the paint, Jeremy MUST incorporate the floaters or pull-jumpers in his arsenal. He must attempt those kind of shots to increase his efficiency since he cannot play as athletically as he wants. These adjustments are necessary or else he's going to struggle playing the game with RAW ATHLETICISM and reckless abandon. Rockets:- The ball movement was terrific and also the defense.- The are more effective running the fastbreak since they have active hands. - They should run the high pick-n-roll with Lin for the WHOLE GAME- Martin should be given off-screens to open him up. - do not let Martin become the Facilitator since he tends to hold the ball longer than needed. The flow of the offense is disrupted if those quick passes are not made as in the case in the first half- Smith is better back-up center- Livingston should be the back-up point guard; he can also play as a shooting guardFor the next game:- Execute the offense the way they executed in the 3rd quarter.- Lin should shoot more mid range and floaters. Avoid driving all the way to the lane if there are multiple defenders. Just drive if there is an open lane- Play the same intensity on the defensive end
By the way, I haven't seen a lot of pick and pop plays for the Rockets. It is easy and effective. They should try putting jones and PPat (when he returns) in those situations.
Good analysis. I'm sure McHale will get around to what you suggested. The young Rockets are learning how to play the NBA game. McHale can put in o ly so much at time
Thanks for posting your analysis, @neph.I didn't get to watch the game and I was bummed out seeing only 2 pts and 5 asts but was pleasantly surprised seeing the general tone in clutchfans to be positive on JLin's tight defense and ok on setting up his teammates. I guess winning helps to calm down the critics a bit,What do you think about his conditioning and explosiveness compared to the last preseason game?
More explosive but he loses the ball when he penetrates because he passes while leaving his feet. Also, the paint is too crowded at times so he loses the ball or gets his shot blocked
thanks, neph. I'm wondering from his post-game comments if he repeatedly forced the tough layups to test if he can finish strong. But I agree that about no jump-pass ever and he should mix it up with floaters and short jumpers even in preseason.
In a pick and roll offense, it is mandatory that quick passes (swing passes) are made to have an open shot. If one player does not pass the ball as quickly as possible, it allows the defense to rotate to the open man; thus, the offense becomes stagnant. That is the case when KMART was on the court especially in the first half.
More Floaters , less Lay-ups For JEREMY
NOTE TO MCHALE:Do not use Lin as a set shooter, let him play his STYLE.
Let's be patient, all players go through shooting slumps. [And it's preseason.]JLin's tough hanging layup in trafficSteal and dish to KMart for a dunk
You can tell on this layup he doesn't have his same hops. Knee is probably around 80% good.
they said 80% back in game 5. would never have imagined still talking about this now.
Knee 80% healthy is not equal to knee's playing condition 80%, just saying.
I think Eric Bledsoe just dethroned Lin for his preseason steals crown. 9 steals and counting right now vs the Lakers along with 8 assists and 20 points.I want Jeremy to have a game like this!
On tonight's game:Jeremy Lin is happy with the steady progress of the Rockets
Everybody should read this. It put great perspective about Lin's "performance". All of us Lin fans should be just glad that Lin's about to go through this whole preseason without any injury or setback!
Lin is the best critic of himself. Read this and be re-assured everything is okay.
Yeah, I guess for some people, Lin should go all out, score 30 points and then hurt his knee, they would feel happier because he proved himself again in preseason!!
Preseason is nothing. Lakers 0W 6L
That's: Lakers 0W 7L
I'm encouraged to see that JLin is not down on himself. He knows his body best and it sounds like he's thrilled that he was able to get in the lanes although he couldn't finish yet.
JLin is risking serious injury every time he goes into the lane ... sometimes ramming into the paint needlessly. A good solid entry pass can get the ball inside just as effectively as going up for a layup and dishing it to a big at the last second.
agree. I'd like to see a mix of floaters or short jumpers besides the tough layups to keep it unpredictable for the defenders.
