Deron Williams is saying that Raymond Felton is proven but JLin is not. This is like saying Felton is better than Kyrie Irving because he has a better track record. Does that make any sense?
My take? JLin will be better than DWill within 2 years, max. Jeremy is already a much better defender. All he needs is game experience. Remember, this past year the Nets had a similar type roster as this years Rockets and they ended up 21-34 with DWill in the lineup...Can't wait for Wednesday!!
Nets' Deron Williams: Knicks PG Felton will be better than Lin
Has there ever been this much open criticism by any player from his peers before? I think this goes hand and hand with racism against Asians as being the most acceptable in society.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom line is that Deron William's was just stating his opinion. I think it's a little over the top to equate that with racism. Regardless of his race, though, I don't know of anyone who has ever risen to stardom the way Jeremy has. That's going to attract detractors by its very nature.
DeleteNonAsians think they can fire on Lin whenever they want.
DeleteFine. Now prove it on the COURT.
Both Deron Williams and Raymond Felton have a lot to prove if they both think they're better than Jeremy Lin. Defensively Lin is vastly superior to both of them and offensively Lin is the king of what I call "sneaky stats" (i.e. #1 in the entire NBA in generating 3 pt attempts and layups, #2 in defensive rating, #3 in isolations, etc)
It also wouldn't surprise me if Houston beat both NY and Brooklyn this season.
Felton is an old VW Beetle and JLin is a brand new Porsche. The good old Beetle may have a great track record but that doesnt make it better than a brand new Porsche. The brand new Porsche might need a couple of tweaks and software patches but it is superior right from the start.
DeleteDWill can play fortune teller and voice his opinion if he thinks its smart to do so. Of course - it goes with the territory that a fortune teller can be proven wrong.
Worst case scenario -> Felton better than Lin. Big deal. JLin wouldnt care. Best case scenario -> JLin better than Felton. JLin would still not care but DWill will be the NBA village idiot.
Talking is silver but silence is gold. Its obvious noone taught DWill that...
As the new season starts, all the haters come out in force. Behind their ill thought out pseudo-analyses, sits simple racism. In time, when the Lin legend is a part of the NBA's history, people will look back with contempt on these doubters who only made themselves look stupid. Give a fool enough rope, and he'll hang himself!
DeleteI can't wait for the season to start, and see JLin go to war!
DeronW is allowed to have his opinion but his opinion means nothingl and a lot of people disagree with him. He is proven dead wrong already in preseason, and the gap between the two will widen as the real season progresses.
ReplyDeleteBesides, the following excerpt from the article by the Nits' mouth piece (NYpost) says it all:
"[Deron] Williams and Felton go way back, even sharing the same birthday of June 26, 1984. They both were in the same high school class (Felton was the top-ranked point guard, according to Scout.com, and went to North Carolina while Williams was 12th and went to Illinois), and Williams was drafted third by Utah in 2005, while Felton went fifth to Charlotte."
Deron Williams is the Melo of PGs. A paper tiger I would NEVER want when building a championship-caliber team. Overrated fool's gold.
ReplyDeletePGs I would take instead of Deron (especially when you consider salary and potential):
Paul (in a class by himself right now), Lin, Nash, Rondo, Rose, Lawson, Irving, Parker, Westbrook, Lowry, Rubio. Jrue Holiday and Curry (if his ankle ever holds up) would also be in consideration.
Eactly! Everything you said, ditto, ditto and ditto.
DeleteBoth DeronW & Carm_lo are past their peak imo - and they never proved that they were worth even a half of their paychecks. Also, DeronW had a good young team last season (similar to the current Rockets), but he felt he was above all of them in treating them like teammates. Thus, with a self-aggrandizing captain like that, of course his team couldn't flourish. Deron is soooo so so so over-the-top overrated, it's a joke.
Both DeronW and Carm_lo have no excuses this year to perform like their $20+ million per year mammoth contracts and their "superstar" status. WHY DO I SAY THAT? Because 3 things:
1). Both of them have even admitted on record that their respective team owners have now put together enough pieces to their teams to make them true contenders.
2). They are both at least 7-year veterans and play starter positions every single one of those highly paid and catered years.
3). They are still either at or at the tail end of their prime, age-wise.
Therefore, combine all those 3 points, and there are NO EXCUSES for their failureS this year.
However, LOL, SMH, my gut feeling is that they both will fall flat on their faces! Yet they will still blow their own horns all the way until even after they retire.

ReplyDeleteBecause dwill was beat bad by Lin in the nets game over 20pts. That's why he's pissed by lin still. Tell Me a guy like dwill worth 98mil? Ha...worry about ur self how u gonna prove that.
ReplyDeleteIf Lin is overrated like what people are saying, then dwill is even more overrated. Don't see how he worth that much with that kind of performance of the nets.
ReplyDeleteLast two years, DWill has been getting by on reputation alone.
ReplyDeleteHis saying Felton is better -- I think it's more out of loyalty to Felton since they go way back, than any meaningful assessment.
The point to be taken from all this though is how strong and pervasive the talking point about Lin being "unproven" is. It's a subtle way of applying a double standard to Lin.
hahaha. just adding more fuel to the fire.
ReplyDeleteHow proven is proven? I guess these players just don't want to accept the fact That Lin CAN PLAYS! Like mornshroom said it's double standard apply to Lin. This sucks! So unfair to Lin but luckily Lin loves to take challenges!!
ReplyDeleteKarma
ReplyDeleteLink Deron may need surgery in next off season
Deron Williams = 22-44
ReplyDeleteENOUGH SAID
LATEST NEWS:
Harden turned down the 52 Million offer by the Thunder. He was pushing for a MAX DEAL.
Maybe Morey should make an offer to the Thunder for Harden.
I propose:
Martin + Lamb for Harden
Harden is more unselfish than MArtin; And much younger, more versatile and not a BLACKHOLE
A line up of :
DeletePG - LIN
SG - HARDEN
SF - PARSONS
PF - PATTERSON
C - ASIK
This is a playoff team (6th-8th seed)
Go for it MOREY
On the other hand, why would harden settle for Houston?
DeleteMight as well wait for no-defense. no-effort, and bricking LAMB to develop into a legitimate star.
Houston is in a bad position to attract Free Agents because players today want to team up WITH SUPERSTARS.
That is why LIN must show the entire world that he can lead his starless ROCKETS to the playoffs to attract other stars which will make them Contenders.
He is still not resign with the thunder? But didn't he play in the preseason?
DeleteDamn, I don't care much about Martin but I hate to lose Jeremy Lamb. But I guess Harden is more further along in his development.
DeleteWhen Jeremy Lamb physically matures, he'll be a FABULOUS starting shooting guard in the NBA.
DeleteThe reflexes, the skillls, the court awareness - all there. Body is not.
In the end, Jeremy Lamb will be a better winning player than James Harden who scores a lot in the gaps provided by higher profile players. I feel that James Harden is an excellent role player but is not a guy that can carry a team athletically.
Good call Neph, I bow to you on the call.
DeleteMorey must have been reading this thread.
KHuang, I agreed with you but I don't know if Lamb's attitude played a role on this deal. I think Lamb is athletically talented but he might be one of those who never reached his full potential.
DeleteOr Morey is doing a bad job here. He definitely gave up too much for Harden IMO. But at least I think Harden's game complement Lin's.
I will happily prepare to eat CROW if James Harden works out.
DeleteI hope I do. I really liked Jeremy Lamb and will continue to follow him with the Thunder.
Hey, somebody pass me the soy sauce to go with my crow!!!
All Rockets need is a really good Power Forward and another solid Center and they are ready to challenge for the Championship.
ReplyDeleteKevin Martin is really a good shooter and JLin will convert him into a team player.
Ummm you mean James Harden? Kevin Martin is the one who got traded to OKC.
DeleteYahoo sports columnist says Jeremy and Harden in the back court for the Rockets.
ReplyDeleteAdrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
The Rockets send Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and future draft considerations to the Thunder for Harden, sources tell Y! Sports.
Along with All-Star guard James Harden, the Thunder will send Cole Aldridge, Lazr Hayward and Daquan Cook to the Rockets, source tells Y!
As part of deal, Thunder will receive "significant" future draft picks from Houston, source tells Y! Sports.
Whoa! Is this true? A very interesting and surprising trade, if true. The only problem is resigning Harden for the long term--otherwise, it's a bad trade.
Deletei think its a great trade, at first i thought Houston is planning to take it easy this season. But it seems like they are planning to fight it out. This gets me excited.

DeleteWow, things just got interesting...
Its finalised:
DeleteThunder trade James Harden to Rockets

Houston plans to give James Harden a four year, $60 million extension once deal is completed, league sources tell Y! Sports.
No other NBA player has gotten as much open criticism from other players. It's one thing for Felton's teammates to say that they think Felton is better than Lin (and they should back their teammate), but for a rival of the Knicks to say that the Knicks PG is better than their ex-PG? Unheard of.
ReplyDeleteBut whatever, Lin has been looked down upon his entire career. It's nothing new. And I have no doubt that he will prove the all the doubters wrong... again and again.
I think I like Jeremy lambs too, although I m not professional at basketball n little clue about basketball but I like what I see with the rockets now, but I hope if they do trade for Harden it works out or else it's not really worth it.
ReplyDelete'Nets' Deron Williams: Knicks PG Felton will be better than Lin''
ReplyDeleteThis is the DWill personal opinion, however, criticized Jeremy Lin, DWill, have to think about it, you are eligible enough to do? The ability of JLin is DWill can be assessment?
DWill scores yourself to make it?Yourself enough to do that?
Hello from overseas!
DeleteNo. DWill isn't qualified to judge Jeremy. DWill is an overrated egotistical underachiever non-team-player ballhog incompetent leader who makes his team bad and his record "good". In fact, Jeremy is *better* all around player than DWill even now (not the last season, but now, starting the Summer season just gone by - also known as pre-season).
still can't get over the embarassment he suffered on 2-4-2012!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteWhat about the 38 points he dropped on lin a week later? How come no one talks about that?
DeleteThe comparison with Kyrie Irving doesn't make sense because he's quite "proven" in the traditional sense. Duke changed it's offense to build around him, he shone in the few college games than he played, he started every game for the Cavs and improved their win % significantly in a lockout-shortened season, he won RoY for the Cavaliers and it wasn't really a close race, he impressed the USA Basketball Committee so much they said he was a "lock" for the next Olympics, and he really impressed in the Rookie/Sophomore All-Star game, etc.
ReplyDeleteDwill is just stating his opinion from his own experience, theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. He doesnt even bash lin at all in what he said he just spoke the truth which is felton is proven in a sense of how long hes been in the league you can make a better judgement on his game. J lin is not proven in nba terms since he has not started or played a full season therefore what dwill says is true. Its basic common sense really....is it to say lin is a bad player or fluke? Absolutely not, anyone who has said anything about lin has acknowledge he can play thats not the point. The point is no one has seen him play for a significant amount of time so it makes it hard to judge his entire game dwill is just being real and j lin fans go ape shit and take things out of context way too often.
ReplyDeleteDwill is not worth his contract.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, it's more how Dwill said it, further it is what he did not say. But who gives a crap what Dwill says, Jlin will have to prove himself by just playing his game and making his team better.
ReplyDelete"dwill is a prick. Dwill is not worth his contract." look how worked up you are about it, thats exactly what i'm talking about. He didnt even say anything disrespectful about lin yet it still strikes your nerve. LOL
