I believe Amare punching the fire extinguisher shows very deep issues within the New York Knicks organization. Yes, his back injury and his brothers passing had a lot to do with his poor play and pent up frustration. However, I think Woodson and Melo are just as much a part of his frustration. Remember, they were also trying to trade Stat for Chris Paul before the season.
This will be a very interesting off season for the Knicks.
Anyway, can you believe this was less than three months ago?
All I know is that wherever Jeremy ends up in the future, he will succeed.
ReplyDeleteHe may not reach his full potential on a Melo-centric Knicks team, but he will continue to improve and be allowed to lead once his next contract expires. The question is: Will Lin lead the Knicks? Or the Nets? Maybe Phoenix? Toronto?
Meanwhile, I'm very anxious to hear practice reports from tomorrow. Because Tuesday practice was canceled, we don't know what Jeremy's injury/playing status is. I'm hoping he'll dress for Thursday (just to show support/lift morale at MSG), and if the Knicks win, then he can be the 6th man on Saturday.
Look like Amare' is going to be Melo's next victim after Mike D'Antoni .
ReplyDeletePoor Amare. It seemed that a lot of time in the last 2 games, the PGs and especially JR Smith just completely ignored him and treated him like a role player. He got a grand total of 16 shots in 2 games, that was less than Melo in one half and even JR shot much more than him. He must be frustrated, knowing that you could help but was not given a chance. And what was the point of the Knicks having out here if he was not featured in the offense when everyone knew that he was never the best defender and rebounder anyway? His action was foolish but I can somewhat understand.
DeleteIf Woodson gets his "interim" tag removed and continue to adopt the Melo centric strategy, Lin would be better off going to a different team. It would not be bad to sign up with the Nets. New York media is a plus and he will bring his fans with him.
ReplyDeleteIf Lin feels good he should play. I was hoping for a game 5 return but doesn't look like there will be one.
ReplyDeleteWell, Melo gets his wish now. No Lin, no Amare. He can have the freedom to do whatever he wants and put up as many as shots and points he likes. Let's see if that can result in a victory.
ReplyDeleteTrouble is when amare and lin were out and melo had success at the 4, he had shump starting. Now woodson doesnt know who starts at the 3. I bet its novakaine. That might work like but heat are expecting a spread offence. Will be interesting to see how melo does and trust team to step up and hit shots
DeleteI am not reading too much into Stoudemire's injury.
ReplyDeletePeople, even athletes, go crazy from time to time. Even Tim Duncan went crazy a few years ago and destroyed his car by running into a tree.
In the NBA, every guy on a team can play. Just as Glen Davis has stepped it up for Dwight Howard, somebody will easily pick up Stoudemire's production. Besides, it isn't as Stoudemire was having the greatest playoff performances in this series.
The Knicks need Jeremy Lin now more than ever. I look forward to his Game 4 return.
Knicks on life support. Linsanity to the rescue!
ReplyDeleteHere's a brief clip of JL in 3-on-3 action during practice today. Just fast-forward to the 1:10 mark.

MANY THANKS FOR THE LINK. It's exciting to see Lin play.
DeleteMaybe that's why Knicks management is pushing to have him back sooner - to excite the fans (and sell more tickets). Hopefully they still have Lin's best interest in mind, not to rush him back if he is not completely healed.
Those Heat guys look like the big monsters in Harry Potter movies, and if Lin can really re-join the team in Game 4, I pray that he has the same wisdom/strength as Harry Potter to tame them :-)
In the Apr12 game between Heat and Bull, Lebron James elbowed C.J. Watson and he fell...no foul call though...to me, it's obvious that James was mad at Watson who narrowed the gap from 63-60 to 63-62...so I'm worried that James would probably do the same to Jeremy if Jeremy however plays against Heat in the playoffs.

It's touching yet not surprising. That is why so many people love Jeremy, because he loves other people.
DeleteSports should not be just about win or lose, I despise athletes to do dirty tricks on others just to get a win, no matter how good the athlete is, I look down on him. While athletes like Jeremy Lin, win people's heart by his skill, but also largely by his sportsmanship.
It is the jungle kind of play of some athletes turn people away from nba.
Wow...now I'm even a bigger fan of Jeremy if that's even possible :). The thing that impresses me is that he performs these charitable acts without announcing them to the press or making a big deal of it. There are a lot of athletes out there who do these things to make themselves look good. Jeremy is definitely not one of them, and I think his contributions will go far beyond basketball when this is all said and done. He will use his success to impact humanity in the way that Bill Gates has done.
DeleteOn a separate basketball note, I agree with JLinFan#1 that the Knicks are broken right now. They don't have the chemistry on or off the court when everyone is healthy. Carmelo is a cancer in the locker room. I can't imagine Amare being happy with Carmelo ball nor are the other players happy with him chucking 26+ shots per game.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is...please bring Phil Jackson or Jerry Sloan to clean this mess up. I'd actually prefer Jerry Sloan because he has a proven track record of developing hall of fame superstar point guards (ie Stockton, Williams). Jackson's triangle offense isn't an ideal fit for Jeremy, but I think he will modify it to fit Jeremy.
It would be interesting to see Phil Jackson running his triangle without a legend like Jordan or Kobe. It would be effective but I think it would take along time to implement and take off because he doesn't have superstars like Shaq and Kobe or Jordan to shorten the learning curve. My vote would be for Jerry Sloan to take over. I LOVE pick and roll offense. It's simplicity at it's best. And Jeremy would become so good at like no one ever before him at the pick and roll, because Sloan would run that all day!
DeleteThis is what clueless NBA scouts and media fakes have been saying about Lin:
DeleteLin exploded only because of Dantoni's system.
Lin exploded on his 2nd winning streak because of Coach Woodson's system.
Lin exploded in the D league because of Erie's and Reno's systems.
Lin exploded in Golden State garbage time because of Golden State's system.
Lin exploded in summer league because of Dallas's system.
Lin exploded at Harvard because of Harvard's system.
Lin won a California state high school championship because of Diepenbrock's system. By the way, his Palo Alto team lost only two games in his junior and senior seasons combined! Lin likely would have won TWO high school championships had he not badly sprained his ankle in the playoffs in his junior year!
Lin is a great player, one of the best in the entire NBA. It doesn't matter if Phil Jackson or Jerry Sloan or khuang is coaching him, he's going to WIN and WIN BIG.
Apologies if this has been asked and answered before. Jeremy will be a restricted free agent soon. Say the Knicks match any offer another team makes : MUST Jeremy then re-sign with the Knicks, or does he still have the choice of signing with the other team?
ReplyDeleteyes restricted free agent means that the player have no other options if the current team choose to match the offer from another team. usually players under rfa will extend for only 1 year.
Deletedid anyone see that a**hole J-Kidd won the sportsmanship award? i cant believe it
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it when i saw that news today at my NBA League Pass. Jason Kidd? Is this a joke???? WHY? Anybody but not him. I wish jlin won the award.
