Lin has already had a few good passes in transition (player he passed to didn't finish, but was fouled), but West has gotten by him a couple times already. I watched a little big of the Red Claws game yesterday and West didn't seem too fast.
Is everyone exaggerating how bad his defense has been? I remember it being really good in the NBA. Maybe Reno's defensive schemes have him leading his man into the help defense? I don't think JLin's the kind of guy to be constantly blown by.
He doesn't look good on D (sleepy or sluggish). Salim Stoudamire in for Lin now, along with the 7 footer Reno got yesterday (Patrick O'Bryant). Anthony Richardson, other recent pick up, was in with Lin and rest of starting crew.
From what I read, Stoudamire and O'Bryant are previous NBA players.
Seems to be more space around other players when Lin is on the floor. Don't know if Red Claws have to respect Lin's drive and this why easier for other players to move ball around court.
i don't think anyone is "exaggerating" about his defense - i think those who said his defense looks shaky is correct. And to anonymous 11:53AM, Jeremy Lin was getting beat one on one in the NBA, eg JR Smith, D Rose. He really needs to stay in front of his man... especially in the d-league.

"Lin is filling up the stat sheet but does not seem quite right."
Probably because he's shuffling back and forth between Reno and GS with little to no preparation. Sorry, but if a guy who's having an off-day is producing like JL...that's a darn good sign.
reno 111-102 i didnt watch the game but statistically lin had a good game; 21 points 6 assists 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 4 turnovers is it me or has lin really turned it on in the 3rd quarter for the past couple d-league games hes played?
Player of the game, Jeremy Lin! He wasn't really sluggish, it was just that they were in such a lead he didn't need to try that hard and let the other teammates shoot instead. Also, he started the game so he might be a bit tired going from being benched in the GSW to playing a full game. Give him a few more games and he can show his full potential but good stats tonight, keep it up.
Lin always seems to play better in second half, after he has seen opposition for a half.
He came out hot from start of game of Idaho second game, and I think only made one poor drive and one poor shot in whole game.
I think he will only get better when he gets to see opposition for second time. Plus, he has new teammates he never played with in Anthony Richardson, Salim Stoudamire, and Patrick O'Bryant (plus no longer having Aaron Miles).
It's obvious all he needs is time and some more playing experience against NBA calibre competition.
I have the game recorded on my DVR. If anyone can tell me how to covert it from my TV to the PC and put it on Youtube, I'll put up the highlights.
After the game - Jeremy was intervewed and asked if he was playing extra hard because there were so many NBA scouts in attendance.
Jeremy's response - "I play for the Lord, him and only him".
Referenced and Thank God at least twice in the interview. Near the end of the game, Jeremy seemed to be hurt a little after a bump. However, he stayed in the game after that.
LOL JLin is starting to give the standard Michael Chang interview. It's good that he can talk about the lord to deflect stupid questions. Every pro player tries to play extra hard at the showcase. If you don't, there's something wrong with you.
Good game, JLin! Easily could have had 10 assts with those nice dishes in transition. Keep working and stay healthy.
PS Donald Sloan turned in a very efficient game at pg.. 10 asst and only 1 TO.
nba twitter account on nba site NBA: RT @nbadleague Jeremy Lin looks REALLY impressive posting 20 pts 7 reb 5 ast thru 3 quarters. Watch 4th quarter NOW on @NBATV 41 mins ago
Yes, I saw the game on NBA TV and also think he could have had 10 assists if the recipient could have finished really strong at the basket.
Even from beginning, I think he created more space around other players because Maine had to respect his ability to drive to hoop.
I think he needs to be an automatic 80%+ shooter at free throw line and legimate threat to score behind the 3 point line, and he could become a very effective facilitator if he has has strong finishers around him (hopefully that means Ewing Jr. and A. Richardson while he is with Big Horns).
Having Salim Stoudamire as lethal 3 point shooter on perimeter is just icing on the cake.
LOL I would upload it right now...but like I said, someone needs to help me and tell me how to do it. I've never done it before. I have NBA League Pass so I get both NBA TV and all the Warriors games. I also have the Sports Package with NBA TV, so I get the CSN channel that shows the Warriors.
I also get HD. So if for some reason the ATDHE links dont work, I can also start streaming but I don't know how to do that either...sorry I'm a newb.
Funny, as good as the stat sheet looks, I thought he played just okay. He would have gone for thirty if he was on. Would like to see a better game tomorrow
I think Jeremy could have gone for 40 if he wanted to against that team. Instead the made a nice effort to distribute the ball later in the game. Foul shooting is a problem. It did seem like his energy level was low and that would affect the legs which affect FT. Will be interesting to see how he does in the next game. Damn, I have to work.
Jeremy looked a little lethargic at start, but overall a great game for him.
Coach Mussellman looks like a much better coach than Keith Dumb *ss and looks to be letting Lin function like he did at Harvard while he learns the nuances of playing point guard in the NBA.
Lin looked particularly good when he got a defensive rebound and was able to push in transition.
Jeremy should play with ALOT more cockiness. Kobe shot airball after airball in the playoffs against Utah as a rookie but still kept his head up high and repeatedly chucked it up.
Lin hardly ever takes a bad shot anyway, so no matter how hard he tries, even if he is way more cocky, he still won't look selfish.
Lin is like Eli Manning / Plaxico Burress for 2007 Giants.
May not be a star in and of himself, but he can be the x-factor that puts a good team over the top.
I think he needs a good coach with good offensive schemes, bigs that can play D to trigger Lin in transition and who can finish when he dishes near the basket, and a pure shooter from 3.
Lin just doesn't seem to fit in well with the Warriors as they are currently constituted and with their current coach.
Hope he gets traded to a real team where his natural talents can shine.
Why don't you losers register? It takes 10 seconds and helps the comment flow. Stuff here makes more sense without stupid posts like "help anon@3:45" or "i'm the original anon@9:34".
Just watched the game - resisted all temptations to come to this site or the NBA site at work!
I think the stream of comments here are right on. Jeremy was a bit hot and cold and his D was weaker than normal, although he had good plays and caused a lot of TO and steals that he didn't get the full credit for. Even without being selfish, he probably could and should have scored 35 points today. Where he got robbed was on assists. I saw at least 4 - 5 plays where he would have made the highlights, but his recipient couldn't finish. I am looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.
Watched again a second time. Jeremy did a good job in the game. He's working on distribution of the ball. One thing I remember is a quote from UCLA coach John Wooden: "Be quick, but don't hurry." Looking forward to seeing him again today.
just watched it. wow! how can anyone say his defense in the first quarter was bad and that he got beat to the lane? not once did anyone beat him. and no, he did not look 'sleepy' lol. anyways, i think some of you have WAY too high of an expectation of lin that anything less than kobe-like performance is bad.
Agree that Lin's defense was better than initially thought. In fact, Coach Musselman switched him over to guard Hayes when it was apparent Stoudamire couldn't stay with him
anyone know if i can watch this online??
ReplyDeleteI got access to NBA TV so I will post updates
ReplyDeleteJeremy is starting
ReplyDeleteReno up 9 to 3
ReplyDeleteyes please keep posting updates, nbdl website isnt showing box score, thanks!
ReplyDeleteLin has already had a few good passes in transition (player he passed to didn't finish, but was fouled), but West has gotten by him a couple times already. I watched a little big of the Red Claws game yesterday and West didn't seem too fast.
ReplyDeleteJeremy is doing well 4 points in 5 minutes...made a dumb foul. Bighorns up big 18 to 5
ReplyDeleteJLin 4 pts. 1 Stl. 2Reb.
ReplyDeleteLin got beat again by West.
ReplyDeleteReno is really moving ball well.
Jeremy has 8 points. In 8 minutes Plus at least 2 rebounds and an assist.
ReplyDeleteLin could probably already have 2 or 3 assists if guy he passed to in transition had finished with the foul.
ReplyDeletemake that 8pts now...30 - 10
ReplyDeleteman, the nbdl website sucks, thanks for the updates
ReplyDeletelooking very shaky on defense... offensively he's looking okay, nothing too impressive...
ReplyDeleteLin has 9 points and 3 rebounds in 9 minutes. Did not credit for an assist. Typical d league scoring.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he looks kind of sluggish or sleepy right now.
ReplyDeleteHe's getting beat easily by his man, but I don't think he is guarding really speedy guards.
Is everyone exaggerating how bad his defense has been? I remember it being really good in the NBA. Maybe Reno's defensive schemes have him leading his man into the help defense? I don't think JLin's the kind of guy to be constantly blown by.
ReplyDeleteYeah, thanks for the updates. Too bad he isn't doing better one-on-one defensively. Although 30-10 Reno, isn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteThe stats look good, although the official D-league stat guys will probably butcher it to 4pts, 0 stl, 0 reb, 3 TOs.
Lin is out score is 31 to14 when he leaves.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't look good on D (sleepy or sluggish). Salim Stoudamire in for Lin now, along with the 7 footer Reno got yesterday (Patrick O'Bryant). Anthony Richardson, other recent pick up, was in with Lin and rest of starting crew.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I read, Stoudamire and O'Bryant are previous NBA players.
Lin in after a short rest. 31-19
ReplyDeleteLin back in and offense seems to flow better.
ReplyDeleteReno was shooting over 90% with lots of jump shots, so probably wasn't realistic to expect them to maintain that.
play by play says lins made two jumpshots, they been close range or mid range anyone?
ReplyDeleteSomeone mentioned:
ReplyDeleteCan anyone check and see if current Maine Red Claws game is being streamed by http://www.thebigjab.com ?
The radio stream works, I'm listening to the game live.
Lin with steal and missed 3 at buzzer.
ReplyDeleteSeems to be more space around other players when Lin is on the floor.
ReplyDeleteMy take is that Jeremy is playing off the man a bit. Does not want to risk injury, and may be tired a bit too.
ReplyDeleteHis jump shots have been around the college 3 point line. His jumper looks good today.
ReplyDeletetwo mid range shots one corner and one around the free throw line
ReplyDeleteJR Smith and D Rose beat literally every player in the NBA off the dribble at one time or another, they're two of the best at that.
ReplyDelete12:02 David, i cant see any video streaming on the site and the audio stream doesnt seem to work for me =/
ReplyDeleteLin looks like he has woken up on D after a few minutes on bench. Seems much more energetic on D.
ReplyDeleteLin got beat high above the key, but recovered and knocked ball away from guy driving to basket.
ReplyDeleteHis passes to teammates when he is trying to drive and dish also seem slightly off the mark (player has to reach to catch pass).
ReplyDeleteim not watching rhe game but that 3 steal total for lin looks very nice!
ReplyDeleteHis energy level is definitely off. He might be tired or I wonder if he caught montas Flu.
ReplyDeleteAnon 12:08

He had a really nice drive to basket a minute ago and just missed layup (not really contested; he has to make that one).
ReplyDeleteHis stats are okay but he looks a little off. Still wondering it is a cold. Also, thanks to the warriors he has not played in a while.
ReplyDeleteDavid, yeah it was just my crappy mac lol, i swapped computers and it works now =] thanks
ReplyDeleteYou need Flip4Mac or Microsoft Silverlight plug in to play WMV content on a Mac.
ReplyDeleteHalftime score is 67-52
ReplyDeleteLin tied up West on the baseline drive.
ReplyDeleteMuch better energy.
Lin with 3 in natural flow of offense, not forced.
ReplyDeleteWow, Lin could have 4 more assists if other player could finish.
ReplyDeleteRichardson couldn't finish slam at basket.
Lin has 18 but made a to
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was a forced drive.
ReplyDeleteHe has had some great bounce passes in transition, but recipient couldnt' finish at basket.
It is nice we don't have to listen to the bighorn broadcasters.
ReplyDeleteAnnouncer says Lin has 3 steals.
ReplyDeleteI think Richardson and Ewing Jr. might like playing with Lin because he is capable of making them look really good.
ReplyDeleteBeing able to drive into the paint, and score, seems to really open things up for his teammates.
Those of you watching know what I am saying,Lin is filling up the stat sheet but does not seem quite right.
ReplyDeleteHe looks much better now; he seemed lethargic at start of game.
ReplyDeleteHe always seems to learn real quick and seems much better in second half.
Last game against Idaho was really good from start, probably because he played same team night before.
"Lin is filling up the stat sheet but does not seem quite right."
ReplyDeleteProbably because he's shuffling back and forth between Reno and GS with little to no preparation. Sorry, but if a guy who's having an off-day is producing like JL...that's a darn good sign.
Looking at the stats, it is funny that the total # of offensive rebounds is 4 and Reno has zero. I guess they don't emphasis this in the D-league.
ReplyDeleteradio says lin made a nice save along baseline or something? details?
ReplyDeleteAre all 30 GM's there? Who are the announcers?
ReplyDeleteReno seems to be too unselfish and passing a little too much.
ReplyDeleteLin is distributing ball really, really well, especially in transition, shots are just not falling right now.
he's gotta make his FTs! 8/13 is not very good...
ReplyDeleteLin started a little sluggish, but ended up having a really good game.
ReplyDeleteHe needs to be able to complete a very high percentage of free throws.
Reno seemed to get a little too unselfish and pass happy in fourth quarter.
reno 111-102
ReplyDeletei didnt watch the game but statistically lin had a good game; 21 points 6 assists 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 4 turnovers
is it me or has lin really turned it on in the 3rd quarter for the past couple d-league games hes played?

I think Jeremy can easily learn some ball fakes from Jason Kidd:

Here's hoping the Lakers scout saw Lin play. Jeremy is equivalent to Steve Blake right now, with upside, and much less salary.

Acie Law tonight: 10 min 0 pt 1 ass't 1 reb 2 to
ReplyDeleteThis is the pg Smart says solidifies his lineup. Solid as in brick. lol
It will take an injury for Lin to return and play ahead of Law. Not hoping for it, it is just part of the game
so, has anyone got the game recorded?
ReplyDeletelove how they left him out..
ReplyDeletehttp://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/71115/20110113/d_league_showcase_recaps_%28wednesday%29/
Again, I got the game recorded in HD. I just don't know how to convert it from my TV to PC and then upload it to Youtube.
ReplyDeleteI believe by tomorrow the game will be available from Futurecast Archieve, because I can see games on 11th Jan
ReplyDeleteLin has faced disrespect on the court all his life. Even being named "Player of the game" and not being acknowledged is another example.
ReplyDeleteYESTERDAY'S GAME IS NOW AVAILABLE ON FUTURECAST!
ReplyDeleteWatched again a second time. Jeremy did a good job in the game. He's working on distribution of the ball. One thing I remember is a quote from UCLA coach John Wooden: "Be quick, but don't hurry." Looking forward to seeing him again today.
ReplyDeleteCan someone upload some clips on youtube. I'm sure you'll get a bunch of views
ReplyDeletehow do you watch yesturday's game on Futurecast?

Finally got to watch an entire D League game. My comments:
- there are more people at a middle school basketball game, not exaggerating. no wonder Lin was sad about going to DL.
- must be the showcase for announcers too, this one was pretty good, compared to what I had been reading about the Reno announcers. call him up!
- it's weird seeing Lin's teammates actually pass the ball to him. that took some getting used to.
- box score listed him at SG, but he brought the ball up and initiated the offense on roughly half the plays, so that was good.
