Law in already...I like how he's stunk every single year of his career and just got cut by the Grizz. But on Smart's Warriors, he's treated like Manu Ginobli, like an All-Star 6th man.
I don't think Smart hates Lin. I just think he's a very nice, dimwit coach who's desperate to win short-term at the expense of long-term success. JL isn't the only bench player being misused. They pretty much all are.
There was an article where Bell and Rad were expressing their dismay as well. And to be fair, both those guys have had decent success when playing in a regular bench rotation.
Smart leaves Law in after several horrible mistakes. Then Law gets a buckets and a loose ball and he's a "hero." LOL. Lin can do fine with that kind of slack as well -- in fact, he's already done so against the Lakers and Houston and Toronto.
Lin had plenty of chances already. He should be lucky he's still riding the bench.
Law had a pretty good game and should be the backup PG. Even when he looked bad he's still better than Lin. Lin stalls the offense. He doesn't know how to score without getting swatted on the baseline or dribbling off his foot.
Warrior fans, don't get too excited about winning this game. This was the T-wolves, who have the 2nd worst record in the NBA. Ws allowed Darko a career high 25 pts and 11 rebs... Darko?! FT shooting is still a big problem, 60% today (5th worst FT shooting team in the league and dropping). Ws needed 48 mins from Monta and also 50% 3PT shooting to beat the T-Wolves. They won't be shooting 50% from the 3-pt line every night.
Nice game for Law. Wish Lin had the same amount of leash. Keep in mind this was the T-wolves. Let's see if Law keeps this up on a consistent basis.
I'm thinking that when Curry comes back, he should be the 6th man. His defense is too much of a liability. Now that Reggie's offense got going, he can start alongside Monta. Curry can be the offensive spark off the bench, and he should get 20-30mins.
speaking in all fairness about the whole law/lin situation, it's really all about showing confidence i think
I think we all see lin's potential and bright spots but he still definitely isn't playing confidently all the time, and I say this judging as a basketball player myself Law definitely shows more confidence and that is probably making some difference. Also, Law is more of a veteran and that always helps.
And just interesting to note, Law actually has been in a similar situation as Jeremy... with the Hawks and Bulls I know a lot of fans thought Law deserved more of a chance but instead he was benched often much like Jeremy is right now.
Maybe in time Lin will get his chance... for now he needs to be less afraid and just play like we all know he can.
SKL you spineless nerd. Nothing racist was said about the coach, whatsoever. All this support for Jeremy Lin has redeemed my faith in the Asian American people. Why can't we be free to spport our heroes much like the jews, blacks, and whites do?
No one has given a flying F about Asians for so long and this should change.
Seems like your post got removed, but to address your overall point... yeah a lot of posts on this forum are pretty derogatory. I wish it wasn't that way. People should criticize without personal attacks and demeaning others. But this is the same on all internet forums (cnn, espn, etc). Not something unique to this blog.
Good game for Acie Law. He was running the offense at times, and actually made a 3 which is not a strength of his game. You can tell he got good chemistry with Monta. Coach Smart believes in him from his last stint with the Warriors. In fact, Smart doesn't consider him a new player to the team. He's got a firm grip on the backup PG job now. Seeing what Law has done this week to get himself into the regular rotation of an NBA team should only help Lin. They are very similar players physically. JLin just needs some experience. Sitting on the bench won't help though. If Steph is healthy enough to play on Saturday, it will be interesting to see who goes on the inactive list...
Acie Law has more experience and confidence than Jlin in the league. As a Warriors fan, I'm not too excited about this win. Neither David Lee nor Andris Biedrins did anything. Until Andris Biedrins can start averaging double figures (something he's always been able to do) and David Lee can be one of the league's top scoring big men (something he's always been able to do as well), as well as Warriors keeping opponent under 95 points, (something they've NEVER been able to do), then Warriors still have a LOT to improve. Jlin will have to prove that he has a confidence that will keep him composed even through tough mistakes. There's a lot of improvement to be done throughout the season for all the Warriors, including Jlin. Go Jlin! Go Warriors!
Anybody have a video or know what JLin said during the Q&A postgame with fans? That's the last thing I'd want to do after getting a DNP. Is this part of his contract? At least it seems like he's staying positive.
i'm done with the warriors. i'll just check lin's highlights if he ever gets a chance to play significant minutes to prove himself. but i wouldn't worry about him. he is a tough kid who has had to work 2x as hard as everybody else just to get where he is now. he will only get stronger and smarter on the court. here is a youtube link to his highlights vs bucks in summer league. shows how tough the kid really is.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KidZUPU79r0&feature=related
You should have read my post more carefully. And read all my posts on this blog. I have been the most civil poster and a firm supporter of Lin. The bullet points were not what *I* believe in but rather hypothetical reaction if Smart did read this board if he is sensitive. Admin, I suggest that you read my message again before having a knee jerk reaction - if you are going to erase anything, erase those reduced to calling people stupid names using unoriginal play on words.
Props to Acie Law. Jeremy's definitely down on the depth chart, maybe even on the way out. The hopeful news is that watching Acie tells me Jeremy can make it. No one has ever said he isn't tough and determined. Hopefully he will continue to play hard whenever he gets minutes, wherever he plays. I'm one of those who think he'd be better off with another team.
"Looks like Jeremy Lin will be sent to the D-League when Curry returns."
I'm fine with that (as long as Lin gets starter minutes in DL). It was pointless to see him play 2 mins of garbage time, he was receiving no development.
I don't want Lin to be on the roster as a marketing move (or perceived that way). He's been doubted at every level, but then proved his doubters wrong. He can do the same here too.
Well that is a shame about Lin going to the D-league. I guess it is good for him to get some regular playing time. I guess it is also good because then I won't have to watch so much terrible basketball waiting for Lin to come in.
Plus all of the D-league games are in HD and are archived and free to watch whenever so we won't have to wait for someone to put up highlights. True story about not having to watch the Warriors play atrocious basketball anymore...at least until Jeremy gets into the rotation.
The good part about JLin is that he is getting paid around ~$400,000 this season just to sit on his butt and not being accountable if the team does perform well. Hope he gets a starting position in the D-League.
This is rough. Lin doesn't deserve to be demoted to D-League -- for all of Law's "confidence" his numbers are still worse than Lin's. It wouldn't be the worst thing, and I have no doubt JL would be back in a month or two, but it doesn't help either. I mean, Law is a career screwup...this is your PG savior, Smart & Riley?
I don't think D-League will even help much. Unlike most D-Leaguers, Lin's already shown he can tear up fringe-NBA talent (UConn/BC, Portsmouth, Summer League). And he's had several high quality NBA stints already (Law has had ONE and is treated like a star). It's better for him and the Dubs if he remains the 12th to 15th man. Practicing against Curry/Monta/Reggie/Law is best for him -- just look how much his TO issues have improved.
And whose spot is he taking exactly? What savior is unable to suit up because of JL "wasting" a spot? If nothing else, JL is already the best defender in the Warriors backcourt (though that's not saying much).
I love how they say Lin gets special treatment because he's Asian. And yet a black player who's been nothing but a crappy underachiever his entire career gets a young JL's job after ONE half-decent night. LOL.
Yeah, JL gets "special" treatment all right...(e)specially crappy treatment.
According to Matt Steinmetz, because of Lin's guaranteed contract, even though he is in the D-league, he will remain on the 15-man roster. If that is true, I find it funny for those folks out there that are rejoicing that he is going down because it will "free" up a spot on the roster for a "real" NBA player. Surprise! Ha Ha!
the warriors are inept to begin with, so i'm not surprised that their coach would take his 'frustrations' out on an underdog like Lin by demoting him. nah, but for real lol. i always thought that the nba might be too fast-paced for a guy like Lin. but being the first modern Asian-American making it the nba is an accomplishment in of itself, and that's what matters most. he has the potential to be a good player, and certainly better than your average people combined. since folks have been leaving hate comments for the sake of hating, and others complaining about lack of minutes, maybe the d-league will be a good change of scenery. nevertheless, i got my Lin jersey as an indication that he has made it to the nba, an important landmark to me. Even if it'll be a brief one. as for refs, there are certainly prejudiced ones. perhaps those obstacles are too much to overcome. it certainly ain't easy being Asian lol.
Jeremy Lin said himself that he wasn't used to the NBA pace when he first came in; the IVY league held no comparison in its gamepace to prepare Jeremy for the league. Hopefully he won't be in the D-League for too long if at all; at least he'll be able to play basketball with some game pressure and larger minutes. I'm just excited to see him develop, it'll be a fun career to watch.
Jeremy's contract is only partially guaranteed. After January 10 he can be waived. Agree with other posts that this isn't the worst thing that could happen. It would free him to find a better situation. As much as I'd like to see him on the Warriors, I like many others can't stand to watch the style of ball they are playing right now.
Law didn't start. I guess Smart is stupid, but not crazy.
ReplyDeleteLaw in already...I like how he's stunk every single year of his career and just got cut by the Grizz. But on Smart's Warriors, he's treated like Manu Ginobli, like an All-Star 6th man.
ReplyDeleteHe stunk on Don Nelson's warriors but resurrected as Keith Dumb's bed buddy. They play CoD: Black ops together during off games.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note David Lee must hate K-Love so much. David Lee was the white boy wonder but now K-Love makes Lee look like poop.
Warriors 4 on 1 fast break... blew it.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like Lin is gonna get any minutes tonight. Game is too close.

ReplyDeleteEllis hasn't sat yet. If you need to play Ellis 48 mins in a back-to-back game, just to keep pace with the T-Wolves, that's not a good sign.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Smart hates Lin. I just think he's a very nice, dimwit coach who's desperate to win short-term at the expense of long-term success. JL isn't the only bench player being misused. They pretty much all are.
ReplyDeleteThere was an article where Bell and Rad were expressing their dismay as well. And to be fair, both those guys have had decent success when playing in a regular bench rotation.
Acie Law is killing it!
ReplyDeletelol... i'm sure smart cares about lin's fans as much as phil jackson cares about sasha's fans.
ReplyDeletei love you guys.
Smart leaves Law in after several horrible mistakes. Then Law gets a buckets and a loose ball and he's a "hero." LOL. Lin can do fine with that kind of slack as well -- in fact, he's already done so against the Lakers and Houston and Toronto.
ReplyDeletesmart is going to praise his buddy law in post interview
ReplyDeletethis buddy system is going to kill the warriors
ReplyDeleteLin has to earn his minutes. Law gets to screw up for 15 and then have 3 good minutes. Smart probably wants to start him over Curry now, lol.
ReplyDeleteyup for sure..esp. after that 3. gotta give him props for playing well. just wish coach gave jeremy the same chance.
ReplyDeleteLin had plenty of chances already. He should be lucky he's still riding the bench.
