Every other NBA team has a regular bench rotation with expected check-in times -- doesn't matter if their bench is deep or weak. You have to establish some kind of rhythm.
Smart doesn't know how to do this. And JL and every other bench player (other than 6th man Reggie) is suffering for his incompetence.
Haha, Law and Bell getting chewed up and spit out. Much better than giving a young rookie some experience. Lin, Udoh, Adrien (shouldn't have cut him). These guys should be playing.
Charlie complained in the newspaper (Chronicle) about not getting minutes and Smart puts him right in....air ball! LOL Originally, I was unhappy they brought Law in. I still believe JLin is better but this might actually be good for him. Law plays with confidence and agressiveness and JLin could learn from watching him.
I honestly think Smart loves Law because Law's a loser journeyman like himself. He gives law so much slack. Law has been playing the opposing bench, has scored an uncharacteristic 4 pts...and is still -15 in 8 minutes!!
Lol, Warriors about to lose another winnable game. The game got away whenever Law was in -- Acie with an ungodly, team worst -18 in just 14 minutes. And he hasn't even bricked a ton of shots. Even at his best, he's a non-factor on both ends.
I think today's game is an indication that Lin will be sent to the D league, and I believe that he will be better served there. Sitting on the pine not only dulls the muscles, but kills confidence. Playing a minute or two in scrap time is no way to develop. Right now the coach is effectively telling him that when things are close, I can't use you. When the team needs to come back, I can't use you. You will get a bit of time when nothing matters at all...
Lin ain't going to D-League. Even aside from "fan favorite" pressure, Curry is banged up and Law hasn't been useless running the point and playing D. Yeah, he can draw contact at the rim...but so can Lin.
Smart will probably be given the season. But I don't see him coming back next year -- he's awful at everything: Xs and Os, bench management, player development, and even his one strength -- player relations -- is being strained now.
I've been trying to be fair towards coach Smart, but today really bothered me. Garbage time started in the 4th with 4 minutes left down by 15 and yet he still left in several starters with a game the very next day! You are already short-handed without Curry, what the heck was he thinking?! Was he hoping to lose Ellis too to an injury (who was already emotionally compromised by the foul by Williams and ensuing missed free throws)?
Here's how awful Smart is -- even Yahoo's generic write-up is mocking him after tonight:
"The interesting aspect of Monday's game was that both Lee and Amundson were generally ineffective. It figured to be the type of night when Udoh would be needed.
Apparently, coach Keith Smart didn't think so, however."
So it's not just Lin fans complaining. Smart doesn't know what the heck he's doing.
Warriors need a real coach. They should beg Jeff Van Gundy. Of course, most of the team will be traded for players that can actually play a little defense.
In last night's game, the head coach of the Jazz put one of their rookies as part of the starting lineup. The reason, according to the Jazz commentators: "to build his confidence." And what did Smart do? He put in Jeremy at 1:21 and Ekpe at 0:51. That's the difference between a smart coach and a dumbass coach. Yeah, I said it. Smart is a dumbass. How will the rookies build any sort of confidence if the coach won't put any trust in them. I hope this doesn't have any adverse affects on Jeremy. Jeremy hasn't committed gross mistakes to warrant the playing times he's gotten. When given 10+ minutes, Jeremy's stats are great as evidenced by the games played against Lakers, Toronto, and Houston.
I don't want Jeremy to go to the D-League. I want Jeremy to go to a different team that will utilize his strengths and realize his value/potential. The Warriors franchise (and their fans) are undeserving of a great player like Jeremy. How can they use a rookie as a scapegoat and accuse him of a wasted roster spot?! Ridiculous. They deserve Acie Law and I hope they pay the price.
tonight would be a good night for jeremy to play some meaningful mins against a not so good minnesota team, i mean with curry out this would be a perfect time to see how jeremy performs. law deserves to be sitting on the bench tonight after last nights performance and smart should put in jeremy to see how he performs when given some actual playing time
I wonder if Lacob's "marketing" pick will backfire on him and become "reverse marketing." I have been a W's fan a very very long time (Alex Hannum was coaching in the first game I went to) I manage to get to 1 or 2 games per year but became really interested when they signed Lin (easy to guess my ethnicity) and I'll follow wherever he ends up. However, I'm realizing that after decades of following bad teams, bad coaches, and bad owners, maybe I'll just watch occasionally on tv (to see the other team) but won't go to Oracle anymore until some drastic changes are made. It's not an "ethnic" thing with me. Lacob and Gruber seem to be Cohan 2.0
Can't remember if I read it here or somewhere else. I believe Jeremy's contract is partially guarantted this year with the cutoff date being Jan 10.
It's almost certain he is off the roster when Curry returns. Seems like a possibility he won't even be sent to D league but just released. I'm not certain of my facts though. If so, it might not be a bad thing. He could hook up with the D league team of his choice, play in the summer league, then find a better fit for himself. I would love to see him on the Warriors but there's little chance now that they have three 6'3" guards in front of him. By the way, I think he is the only one legitimately that height. I think Acie Law is closer to 6' 1" (even though it doesn't matter at this point)
Smart keeps losing game after game badly, but refuses to try anything different. Smart is less "NBA ready" than Lin.
ReplyDeletebell and law is in?! this team deserves to lose

Lol, Bell and Law. Why not? The Jazz reserves were killing the Warriors' starters.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Law and Bell getting chewed up and spit out. Much better than giving a young rookie some experience. Lin, Udoh, Adrien (shouldn't have cut him). These guys should be playing.
ReplyDeleteWow, Bell really, really stinks. Nice airball. Law, -7.
ReplyDeleteLin? Lin?

the last person lin needs to learn from is law

ReplyDeletesmart is buddy-buddy with law and some dubs players
ReplyDelete14 losses in the last 16 games, Keith Dumb can be buddy buddy over the phone and JLin finally get some minutes.
ReplyDeleteLol, Warriors about to lose another winnable game. The game got away whenever Law was in -- Acie with an ungodly, team worst -18 in just 14 minutes. And he hasn't even bricked a ton of shots. Even at his best, he's a non-factor on both ends.
ReplyDeletesmart wants to kill lin or something? putting him in at 40sec left after his starters failed to stat pad against this team!
ReplyDeleteMonta, Lee, and Dorell are still playing in garbage time ? Maybe the coach forgot they have another game against Minnesota tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteHaha, Law playing off-guard. Lin and Udoh get one minute. Brilliant, Smart! Now his +/- is improving...with Lin on the court, haha.

*Law HAS been useless

ReplyDeleteLaw > Lin
ReplyDeleteWhy?
Law's +/- = -17
ReplyDeleteWarriors Basketball: Torture
Acie Law got 18mins of playing time first game and today he gets 15mins. Lin with 1:21 mins.
ReplyDelete(America's favorite garbage time player) Here we comes!! Thanks again Mr. Smart.
Fire Smart or fans fire GSW - as simple as that

ReplyDeleteVery questionable coaching.

even NBA2K11 is starting Jeremy Lin as point guard. Mr. Smart... *Facepalm*

ReplyDeleteAcie Law will probably start tonight. Maybe Lin will back him up. If so, #7 got to start making things happen.
