Great comment on KNBR just now when Lin was subbed out by Monty. It went something like: "The stats are very deceiving. You look at the stat line and you see one assist, one missed shot, but the starting line got a 7 min rest and the Warriors are no worse for the wear with Lin in the game. Up as high as 6 and down by 1 at worst."
How about, he's the teams best player. Or he's one of the league's leading scorers-and of all leading scorers, he has the highest FG% and 3P%. Or, how about this, he's the reason that the Warriors win games.
Even if they get Marc Gasol, they're paying Beans 9mil/year at the center position and David Lee 14mil/year at power forward. That would definitely be a waste of talent and money and just straight up horrible management. Considering what shooting guards have been getting paid lately (Rudy Gay and Joe Johnson both being maxed out), Monta is giving the Warriors a very decent bang for the buck.
All because Monta isn't currently playing well with an undrafted rookie coming off the bench isn't a legitimate reason to trade him away. There has to be an unbiased reason to trade away Monta if it's ever going to happen.
while things are taken out of context, last season, the warriors were injured to the point where they didn't have enough players to play on the court against the Bucks.
Monta isn't just a stat machine, he's able to take over games (this season against Bucks and Utah)
+/- don't mean much, Blake Griffin is probably -abillion right now, but no one denies his value 'cause of his ability to take over games, most recently against the knicks.
Even when Lin can't hit shots, he never hurts the team because of his defense. If Lin can develop a half decent jumper, he can be a HUGE help for Golden State because nobody on that team plays D. Ellis is better than Curry overall, but Ws need to retain a sniper. And Ellis could fetch you a STAR center or SF. Even when Lee and Amundson and Udoh are healthy, they need more dominance inside.
Ellis and Curry have had horrible shooting percentages these last few games, hope that's not a trend. The Warriors still can't afford to lose them though, they do all the scoring. What they really need is for Lee to come back to even out this team. When's he due back anyway?
maybe monta just doesn't trust Jlin. But monta should trust whoever coach send to the court and play team offense system that involving 5 instead of anything else.....
coaches play players they hate every day of the year. and players play for coaches they hate every day of the year. at every level in every sport. hate may not be the right word... because hate is a vicious term... but "do not like" or "strongly dislike" is good enough. and no... smart do not like jlin, but the assistants do. and with jlins effort in LA, i'll bet the assistants were able to make a stronger case for more pt this morning. and the jlin stated his case a for even more pt tonight.
and another guy who doesn't like jlin is monta... and there's no denying that... just watch the game.
if jlin succeeds with this squad he'll play for many years because this is not a high level squad and the guys he is playing with cant be easy to play with... particularly monta.
it's a complete waste to have jlin float the perimeter with monta and curry bringing it up and doing the pound show. hopefully, smart will figure this out.
LoL. so, according to you, first it was "smart hates Lin" ... yet many of us told you to be patient while Lin earns more playing time and gets worked into the ssytem. yeah, we called it, and Lin is getting subbed into the 1st quarter.
now it's "monta hates Lin"... and we hear cries of "trade monta, our best scorer". tell us asiancauc, who WON'T hate JLin by the end of the season? LoL!
they should trade monta... and get a catch and shoot guy and a legit small forward and let curry and jlin run the show -- eventually trading curry too if he doesn't tighten up his game -- way too cute. it's called team basketball ntt. and monta doesn't fit the team basketball equation.
if you think the warriors are going anywhere fast with monta you are sorely mistaken... for the past thirty years the games dominant, championship winning players have been 6'6" and above... Kobe, Jordan, Magic, Bird ... these are the guys that carry teams. 6 3 guards have not carried teams since Jerry West, and even he couldn't win a championship. warriors need to dump monta for either a catch and shoot guard and a legit center or a legit small forward. simple as that.
i am NOT liking monta
ReplyDeletemonta keeps asking for the ball so lin cant set up any plays
ReplyDeleteLOL, Monta doesn't pass the ball back to Lin.
ReplyDeleteI think I missed something, did Lin try to dunk the Nuggets missed free throw a la Jordan?!!
wtf monta. get out of the way!
ReplyDeletesmart better get into monta's face
ReplyDeletelets see what curry and lin can do with monta taken out
ReplyDeletemonta is like that kid that don't pass the ball on the playground.
ReplyDeleteat least curry doesn't demand the ball or get in the way when you are trying to run a set play.

ReplyDeletesaid it before and ill say it again...
ReplyDeletejlin and monta don't mix!
it was hard to tell, did monta NOT give jlin any love when he subbed for jlin. it sure looked like it on his face.
Finally ! JLin 7 has his own OFFICIAL website. I wish this was up during his Harvard days.
ReplyDeleteMonta should be thankful that he got a few minutes of needed rest.... thanks to Jeremy backing him up.
Why can't they just trade Monta Ellis?
ReplyDeleteGet Marc Gasol for him or someone.
Trade away the third best scorer in the nba, who is also very young. Sounds familiar. Go for it Warriors.
ReplyDelete"Why can't they trade Monta Ellis?"
ReplyDeleteUhhh... . .are you serious?
How about, he's the teams best player.

thats my boy jlin with the block at a crucial time
ReplyDeleteLin just STUFFED Al Harrington. But he also made a dumb travel on what would've been an easy drive.
ReplyDeleteSmart's playing him off-the-ball. Interesting. They need him to attack the rim.
Sweet pump fake by Lin for the layup past Harrington.
ReplyDeleteoh, what a block on Harrington (6'9")! The previous time, Lin forced Harrington into an airball!
ReplyDeleteEven if Monta Ellis puts up good stats.
ReplyDeleteThe guy is always going to be something like -397 last season in +/- when Steph Curry played more minutes(Monta missed some games) and was -184.
its really funny how worked up people get on this blog.
ReplyDelete"he has the highest FG% and 3P%."(Monta Ellis)
ReplyDelete44.9% from the field, 33.8% from three point range, 75.3% from free throws last season.
Curry/most of the league was higher in all 3 shooting stats.
while things are taken out of context, last season, the warriors were injured to the point where they didn't have enough players to play on the court against the Bucks.

ReplyDelete50.8% from the field, 36.7% from three point THIS season.
ReplyDeleteBoy, people REALLY love to take things out of context, and are really persistent too!
Monta Ellis has good stats but...
ReplyDeleteI can't tell from looking at stats if he really is an effective player on a bad team or if he is one of the reasons why the team is bad.
Wow, 50.8 this season.
ReplyDeleteWell I guess the 7-22 today takes that down lol
didn't catch the game but..
ReplyDeletedoes tonight's game still mean that Smart "Hates" Lin? LoL.

ReplyDelete6'4" Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics carried his team to a championship.
ReplyDelete6'4" Dwyane Wade of the Heat also won a championship.
