Preseason Game #8 vs. Lakers - 2 Minutes for JLin

  1. i really don't get the point to have Ellis play all 53 minutes in a preseason game.. and have Lin play 2 mins when Curry is out.. especially in a preseason game!

  2. F Smart. He such as A.H. for what he is doing playing JL only 2 min? no all-star player can do that. Yeah this is only pre season game.

  3. So much for quality minutes -- Keith Smart is a rookie head coach and shows it every step of the way. Monta started super hot, but got exhausted and finished 4-15. But Smart still wouldn't sub him out. Meanwhile, talk about undermining a rookie's confidence! Lin gets 2 stop-and-start minutes before being yanked for making a TO. Meanwhile, the starters fumble away a late lead in embarrassing fashion -- yeah that's much better, Coach Smart.

  4. Lin got benched after the ball slipped out of his hand when he has a wide open shot.

  5. BTW, it's not just about Lin. It's about knowing how to manage your bench and use the preseason. Adrien, Carney, Bell, Dorell Wright...where the heck are their minutes? How can you expect them not to suck in real games when you won't give them any minutes in preseason? If winning a meaningless game is that important to Smart, don't play them at all. Make up your damn mind! Now you lost a game in ugly fashion AND none of your scrubs got any experience. Meanwhile, Lakers got their bench/scrubs minutes and still won the game.

  6. Reason for short minute play times: Couple shaky passes, one of them ended in 24 second violation, then following with a turnover. Events like these definitely speedup coach's anxiety which would, in turn, request a lineup change.

  7. I have no idea why Jeremy Lin was pulled after 1 MISTAKE. When coaches have that sort of approach towards players, the players end up playing overly cautious. If Jeremy Lin plays overly cautious, in my opinion, he falters. Jeremy is an impact-type player. He needs to be aggressive. When he comes in the game, he tries to make plays. If he makes a couple of mistakes, so what, his production will easily make up for them. He gets to the foul line, he makes good, aggressive passes, he rebounds with energy and he gets steals. If they're going to take him out after his first mistake every single time, he's going to be driven out of the NBA because he won't be aggressive and he'll never make an impact.

Monta Ellis was like 1 for his last 11, no man is built to play 53 minutes of high-level professional basketball. I honestly think that if they played Lin some more, The Warriors would have won that game. As long as Lin didn't screw the pooch, the warriors would be able run a more effective offensive throughout the game and Monta would have been well-rested for the fourth quarter. There's a reason that back-up guards have work, they play a completely necessary role and they can help teams win games.

Even if Lin added NOTHING (which wouldn't be the case), the rest that Monta and/or Reggie would have gotten would have made his play more than worth his minutes.

  8. Can someone tell me why Lin is always sandwiched between 2 coaches?

  9. Look at how many silly turnovers Radmanovich had. And that time Kobe did the rope a dope on his arm for 3 free throws. He still logged big minutes. He gets the benefit of a doubt because he's a veteran and he's 6'10" tall ?

But a rookie can't even make one mistake ?? That's not the point of preseason.

Coach Smart still thinks having a winning or .500 record in preseason, makes up for a disappointing regular season.

AMEN. That's 100% right on. Smart is trying to baby him, but that's not how JL works. Don't play Lin at all until he's ready. But if he is ready, then give him more than 2 minutes in the middle of the 4th quarter. Especially in the PRESEASON.

Who knows? Judging by the way Smart coaches during preseason, either or both Monta and Curry will be out by January -- injured after playing 40+ minutes every game. Then Lin will get 30 mpg whether he's ready or not, ha.

  11. Man ef Smart. He doesn't want Lin to succeed. In fact I think he secretly despises Lin. Lin will not get more then garbage minutes in regular season if any at all. All Lin needs is his confidence and swagger back which Smart has destroyed.

  12. Lin isn't taking any shots, probably because coach Smart told him not to take any.

Right now he's just dribble driving and kicking it out like a robot. Which is what the coaching staff wants. He's not looking to score, so the defense stays in a zone and his defenders double the post without mercy.

Everything is just so wrong right now. Lin just needs to take a jumpshot. I don't care if he makes it, if it just hits the rim ... at least that proves he can shoot.

  13. If you want to watch the whole game, ESPN has it up on their website now. Sorry I don't know how to link, you might have to copy/paste into browser.

    I know J-Lin only got 2 minutes but it's there for you die-hards. :)

  14. Yer the coach sucks. He puts he in at the wrong time and yanks him out for 1 turnover after 2 mins. Which other coach plays their starters 45 plus minutes in the pre-season. I guess his priority is wins over development of the bench. Either hes short sighted or just plain stupid.

  15. haha smart want ellis and curry to get injure early...so JL can play starter in regular season

  16. Don't keep blaming on coach.Player has brain himself, needs adjust accordingly. Coach did not instruct his PG sequencing in couple shaky passes, then turnover in short 4 possessions.
Look at Reggie,he turns out as an excellent player; he was in Dleague, was called in last Janurary, impressed everyoneas a shooter initially. After last night,I am convinced and surpirsed that he is Warrior's best PG on current roster. He is a player taking and keeping oppertunity given to him.

  17. Did anyone notice that Charlie Bell got 0 points in 12 minutes of play? He's supposedly a shooting guard...

  18. I saw John Wall makes a few turnovers and his coach didnt take him out... Its preason and rookies will make mistakes...

You have to allowed rookies to make mistake, so they will learn..

also maybe smart to protective of lin making a mistake.. but you gotta let lin play...

all other rookies get playing time with their teams..
