Preseason Game #6 - Jeremy-No Minutes Again

What is going on? Why is Monta playing 36 min. then 44 min. back to back? Did I miss the start of the regular season? I don't get it. I'm confused. Someone help me.

Also, nothing against Bell and Miles but check out these shooting numbers:

Charlie Bell 5 for 19 - 26.3 %
Aaron Miles 7 for 19 - 36.8 %
Jeremy Lin 2 for 3 - 66 %

Hmmmm.....

  1. Man, screw Keith Smart! NO LIN, NO WIN.

  2. Even Miles' minimal TOs is misleading. He's smaller and a total offensive non-factor (even against opposing scrubs), so defenses don't pressure him. Why would they? He shot 37% against bench players and scrubs. Lin never takes a bad shot and somehow gets to the line like crazy.

  3. Hm.... I think Smart is really bias and naive! He is new at the NBA coaching and he is a fool if he doesn't use the pre-season games to feel out different players to try out their playing style and abilities.

Simple as I can put it, Smart is not smart enough to leverage different players in pre-season rotations. I'm not bias and I think if Lin doesn't get playing time, his fire will diminish and fade. Lin would be better fit in a system that he gets solid minutes to show he can do some serious damage like he did in HS and Collage years.

Don't we all want to see his true talent, but he needs some game time!

  4. It's not just that Smart's not playing Lin -- the Warriors bench is getting the least run of any NBA team. Lin, Adrien, Bell, Gadzuric, even Miles could play more. Amundson and Williams are injured, too, so there's no logjam.

The fact that Curry and Ellis have both averaged 30+mpg all preseason is troubling even if you're not a Lin fan. If those two are that rusty, the Warriors won't touch 25 wins this season. Smart just played Monta Ellis for 44 minutes in a frickin' preseason game! AND THEY STILL LOST!! LOL. Pathetic. 15 mpg of Lin (or Bell) ain't gonna kill ya.

  5. This does not look good. Either Coach Smart doesn't believe Jeremy can play at all, or he doesn't want to give Jeremy any minutes to show off his talent ... thus making it easier to waive him.

Maybe both. I will say one thing. Smart is already proving to be a terrible coach. Who plays their star player for 45+ minutes in a back to back preseason game ??

  6. You guys need to cut it out with the Keith Smart conspiracy theories -- just like Warriors "fans" with the Lin-is-a-total-PR-move conspiracy theories. There's no actual evidence. You could just as easily say that Smart loves Lin and that's why he's not playing -- his spot is 100% safe and he just needs to keep scrimmaging and practicing to get used to the pace.

I mean, Smart has been playing Miles a lot...but being totally lukewarm and non-committal about his chances to even crack the 15 man roster. Relax. Give it a couple months of real games.

  7. All it means is that Smart thinks Lin isn't ready right now. Which he probably isn't. Half the lottery picks look like crap right now. Lin, as an Ivy league guy, needs even more time to adjust. He'll get there...just takes time.

  8. Aaron Miles Minutes > Jeremy Lin Minutes
Aaron Miles 0 DNPs < Jeremy Lin 2 DNPs (Did not play in 2 preseason games)

Coach Smart obviously favors Miles for backup PG. Which leaves Lin as 3rd string or not on the team come Fall.

This is the NBA, if a rookie player doesn't get playing time they will be waived.

  9. may be Smart had Lin already lock in.
He is just testing who gonna be cut by playing miles and bell etc

  10. Running an NBA team is a business and cutting Lin is just a bad business decision. I'm also betting that Lin's a lock and Smart is trying to choose between Bell and Miles.

  11. Lin jerseys are selling well. Ticket sales to Warrior home games are up. Lin Isn't getting waived anytime soon.

Smart wants Lin to succeed. He even eluded to the fact that the game will slow down for Lin, and that Lin just needs time to catch up.

  12. Bell, like Lin, is already on the team. And he's gotten less minutes than Miles (despite being vet). Smart is deciding between Miles and nothing. We all love and believe in JL, but realize that this is probably Aaron Miles' last chance EVER to make the NBA. Think about that. Smart is just giving Miles enough PT to succeed or fail on his own merits.

  13. Aaron Miles was just cut.

Told you so. Last night was his last chance here, that's why he played so much. And now he can go back to a six-figure salary in Europe knowing that he totally got a fair shake from Smart.

    LOL.

  15. I would send Lin to the D-league to work on his game. Otherwise, he's going to be sitting throughout most regular season games. Looks like Monte will be the backup PG when Curry sits. I don't see Lin playing PG for the Warriors unless he improves at that position.

  16. Lin really needs to cut down on those turnovers. He's probably more comfortable at shooting guard.

  17. Hi, everyone, what would you think the situation would be for JLin?

I am looking forward to Nov. 11 Chicago game here, but I do not want to sit there and see nothing!!!

Any comments on the incoming games???

Thanks, I do not know if this is norm for Warriors to do it to J.

  18. Hi, I am not sitting here doing nothing and I am going to write to Warriors management about Lin's idle games, that is not what I am looking for. I am pissed!

  19. Perhaps Jeremy is NO GOOD ?
If he is good , he would get minutes.
He should go play in China National Team first.
