ARGHHHHHHH!!!! As A Jeremy Lin Fan I hate this.Exactly what I didnt want. This franchiseis going nowhere, they have a lame duck coach, they have the worst luck. They have solid guys in front of him who are young. WTFFFI know they dont really have backup guards, but still. The Warriors are possibly the worst Franchise in the league (yes worse than the clippers). They have terrible luck lately (david lee and Ekpe Udoh Hurt).I know its home--but it better be the only team offering him guaranteed money. I mean maybe theyre offering him the most money..I can see the new ownership trying to bring him in to bring in hype...but cmon really?
Agreed, this is not the right move, He could fit really well with the lakers. It seems like there is way to much talent in front of him in Gloden State. With the lakers he could earn a starting spot in one year.I really hate this news, lets hope it changes.
Why be irrelevant with the Warriors? Just cuss its your hometown, is a sucky reason...The lakers are the premier franchise in the NBA, and will fight for Rings every year...GSW signed him cuss the Lakers wanted him, and the fact they can stir up some fans..This type of opportunity comes around only once Jeremy, and you chose a KIA Sorrento over a Bentley. I just dont understand it!!
laker fans are dumb as sh*t. be happy with your old ass pg derek fisher fools
quit hating warriors still SUCKbut i guess i still have to cheer for them
the warriors aren't picking up Lin because the Lakers were pushing for it, they NEED guards more than the Lake show does. Sure, his being a warrior fan and him being close to home may have helped him choose, but to be real he probably knew that he'd get the most playing time there. sure, the NBA may be about rings, mostly for players that have been thee a few years, but for a player like Lin who's just coming into the NBA, he's going to want opportunity. the Warriors will give him that opportunity (with the only PG being Curry).LA fans need to stop hating just cuz they got someone you wanted. Looks like the Warriors want him a bit more
People are complaining its a bad move to go to the Warriors, but just think about it. He's not going to remain there (hopefully) for the rest of his career. This can be a jump start to his career in NBA. He's the first ABC to reach the NBA so thats a achievement already. Go Jeremy Lin! The guy can ball too. His crossover and driving ability will allow him to do well. Only question is his strength and ability to adapt to the game in the NBA.
If they need guards so much, why are they trading them to CHI and not matching offers(Anthony Morrow)...You had guards and let em go....So that destroys that theory..Lin was a hometown guy, who wasnt drafted by GS nor put on summer league...There ears perked up when the Lakers were in the picture...Lin will enjoy a long summer vacation, cuss there wont be much a playoff run
As for the Morrow and CJ comments, the offer sheets given by the Nets and Bulls were more than the Warriors were willing to pay for (especially with Lee's hefty salary) so they dealt with the sign and trades. Lin would be a much cheaper alternative. Also, the reason why he may be going to the Warriors is actually because they actually offered a contract. The Lakers haven't even signed their draft picks so he wouldn't be guaranteed a spot if he accepted a Lakers' offer to training camp.
Lin is going to Warriors? I guess I'm gonna have to root for them now. Hopefully we'll see some nice pick+rolls with David Lee. As a Knick fan, David Lee was my favorite player. Now David Lee and Jeremy Lin combo would make the Warriors the favorite for me. Knicks first then Warriors.
Lin to Lee...Lee for 3 (he's workin on it)Lee to Lin...for the Win!!!O_o
As a MAVS fan, it was disappointing to see Lin sign with someone else.I enjoyed all five summer league games he played with us. Lin will have no problem picking up the offense, he's smart, makes good decision, and plays under control. His jumper needs more work, and improve his ball handling as he will primarily be a point guard in the NBA. Best of luck Jeremy!
If Jeremy had went to the Lakers he could date Brenda Song lol
Lee to Lin...Lin for 3= another 26-56 record!!
I don't think it's a terrible move, as he'll get more playing time in GS than behind Fisher, Blake, and potentially Brown in LA. And regardless of where he signs, he can always play for your fantasy team...http://fantasyhoopster.com/2010/07/20/2010-fantasy-basketball-alert-jeremy-lin-will-be-owned-in-50-of-leagues-this-year/
PG: Curry, LinSG: Ellis, BellSF: Williams, D. WrightPF: Lee, B. Wright, Udoh C: Biedrins, Gadzuric+ new owners, new logo and jerseys, playing for home crowdWill be rooting for ya Jeremy!
He chose the worst team to sign with or at least his agent did. Los Angeles Lakers?Dallas Mavericks?Miami Heat?Golden State Warriors?New York Knicks?THE WORST choice. I was looking forward to see this kid play but GSW are a horrible team to watch.
The worst team to watch? Doubt that. Sure, the dubs are quite the mediocre team but they are far from the worst team to watch. their 26 win season doesn't reflect their explosiveness and overall fun play to watch. the reason why they have so few wins anyway is due to a plethora of injuries and Don Nelson's system that doesn't necessarily fit well to win in the NBA. Plus with additions of Lee and Wright you may never now how things may turn around win wise, but seeing how those pieces fit, it'll be a great time to watch
no doubt this is a marketing move from the warriors, they can sell more tickets given jeremy's asian connections.for jeremy, he will get more playing time playing for the warriors, plus more guaranteed salary. i'm just worried that don nelson will destroy his career.think for the long term, jeremy!
You are making a huge mistake if you blow off Kobe and Co. And one of the greatest teams ever. You will never win the championship nor even make the playoffs. You were given an opportunity that many players can only dream of and you pass. What a shame and a major career mistake. No rings ever in GS. The only banners you wl see will be in Staples of the gift that you past upon.
some said: "laker fans are dumb as sh*t. be happy with your old ass pg derek fisher fools."LOL. Umm.. ok. Did you not see how key he was in the playoffs 2 championship years in a row? So I guess I should be sad about it?
Look guys, I know a lot of you wanted him to play for the Lakers (I did too), but you can't blame him. It is too early in his career to go ring-chasing. Playing in the NBA is a privilege. Not every player will have multi-million dollar contracts with 10+ year careers. He has to think of himself first. He has a career ahead of him and he needs to be sure to get playing time in order to prove to the rest of the league that he can be a serviceable player on an NBA roster.
Not too much evidence of that Harvard education with this decision. The Warriors have one of the better young PGs in the league--and the Warriors suck and won't make the playoffs for years and won't contend for a title until Hell freezes over. The Lakers, by contrast, sport the league's oldest and worst PG, and will compete for titles for years to come. How could he pass this opportunity up...?
This is the best offseason decision the Warriors have made. The new owners are business saavy, Lin will be highly marketable in the Bay Area due to its high concentration of the Asian community. He will also expose the game to new faces, it's never too old to be a Warriors fan!! Come visit my City!!! Let's hope he isn't a bust.
If Lin goes to the Warriors, he's in a good situation to play about 10 mpg off the bat and develop. Sure no rings, but he's now fought his way into the league and now he's trying to become a rotational player (solid backup pg). If he goes to LA, then he's stuck behind a solid role player/PG in Derek Fischer and backup Steve Blake and the LAL don't even have a dleague team he could play for this year. In the end, it was a decision about minutes where he could best develop his talents. Give him 2-3 years and he could be the next Derek Fischer, a reliable role player at the PG position.
A dream come true. Growing up in the Bay Area and to play for the Warriors, and $500k on top of that! This has to be better than sex!
I'm an Asian b balla and a giant warriors fan. I totally respect your decision and hope you can help turn things around fer the dubs. You are my new hope/inspiration. For the record everyone that is a laker fan is a total bandwagon-er. They are just jealous that they don't live in the yay ya feel me?
A great move! Jeremy needs a guaranteed contract and playing time. He's going to get both. And he goes to a metro area with an > 20% Asian-American population who will celebrate him, buy his jersey, and raise his profile. Two years from now, he can sign the big contract with a title contender. But for now, what he needs is a role in the NBA - that's what he's earned and that's what he's getting.
Lakers fans hate it because Warriors got what Warriors want. Lin will be like Morrison in Lakers behind fisher, blake, sasha, and brown. NEVER get to play. In Warriors, he will share minutes with Curry, most likely 20~30 minutes each. Plus, all Warriors players' value are sky rocking. Look at Morrow and CJ, $3~$4+ mil a year now?? Barnes $9mil for 2 years?? If Lin decided to go free after few years, he will get $5~$6mil a year. This is a smart move for Lin.
Smart move by Jeremy Lin. Join the Lakers and sit on the bench like Sun Yue for the rest of the year. Join Mavs and play in D-league for the rest of the year even though he destroyed John Wall #1 draft pick. Join the Warriors and he's guaranteed a contract and playing time. Wow. No Brainer here.
J. Lin... looks like your agent wants a bigger pay day. You should of gone w/ the Lakers.
Jeremy Lin officially ruined his NBA career before it even began.
As a rookie, Jordan Farmar wasn't buried on the bench...he started quite a few games his rookie year. Now he has 2 rings, and a 3 ye 12 mill contract....yep u guys are right! Being on the lakers is like purgitory.... If u can ball, u can ball!!!!!
I know it's not something you LA kids are used to, but maybe Lin actually wants to earn something? Sure, he has a better chance at getting an NBA ring in LA than with the Warriors, but it would have basically been a freebie. Oh, but LA kids are all about the freebies from mom and dad, right?
Freebies from mom and dad?? U watch to much TV fool!!
L.A Lakers: -Jordan Farmar-College National Championship-FIRST round pick-Horrible player-Sun Yue-Second round pick -sent to D-leagueGSW: -Monta Ellis-Second round pick-Star/Superstar player-Anthony Morrow -Undrafted-Now has 3 year $12mil contractIf you're in a position where you could BARELY enter the league, GSW would be the best place to build your game up; it's guaranteed minutes.
So typical of Asians to hate on each other (and frustrating)...Jeremy Lin made the SMART move. The Mavericks were only offering a D-league spot. The Lakers are 5 deep at guard, and just signed Steve Blake to be backup point guard for 4 years for 16Million. The Lakers also wouldn't offer guaranteed money, they could have cut Lin in training camp and he'd be screwed.Whether it was for playing time, his home town, or guaranteed money (and protection), all signs made sense for Golden State.
just be happy that you get to watch him in the league! if he can make it he will. i've been a "fan" since his jr year and got a kick out of watching him in summer league. i will now be watching GSW games. he's overcome a lot to get this chance. his talent won out and he has a real shot. just enjoy it while you can.
